Eddy closed his mailbox again. There was no mail today. He turned to walk back to his house when the sweet scent of blueberries and raspberries hit him right before a pair of hands covered his eyes.
"Guess who," someone said.
He recognized the voice right away. He hadn't seen her in a year since she left to go back to her own country to take care of her sick mother. Breaking up had been hard but it had been the right thing to do. A year ago it didn't look like she would ever return.
"Saskia," he said.
She removed her hands and he turned around and looked at her. She had cut her hair to her shoulders and dyed it cornflower blue to match her eyes.
"Wow, you look amazing," he said.
"So do you," she said.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm back," she said.
His words abandoned him and he just stared at her while making some weird gestures with his hands.
"Mom kicked me out of the house," she said.
"She what?" He asked.
"Sort of," she laughed. "I went back to take care of her because my brothers demanded it. Lord forbid they helped her out since they're men. Stupid cunts! Anyway, mom got so tired of me always talking about you. She tore my brothers a new one and told me to move back here and get my happily ever after with you. She removed my brothers from the will and instead decided to spend her savings on an amazing nursing home. She's so happy there. My brothers are pissed since they were waiting to cash in on the money when she's gone. They're blaming me, of course. I don't talk to them anymore."
He raised his eyebrows and shook his head from side to side while giggling.
"That was a lot," he said. "Let's focus on the most important thing you said. You want your happily ever after with me?"
"Oh no, I'm too late, aren't I? You've found someone else and you're happy. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have come back like this without asking you first. I'm so stupid. This is my fault. I'm sorry, Eddy. I'll leave again," she said.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her in for a kiss. It was like time stood still and they hadn't been apart for a whole year. He lifted her up and carried her inside his house and into his bedroom. He placed her down on the bed and started undressing her while kissing and touching every part of her body.
"Eddy!" She whimpered.
"I missed you," he said.
"I missed you too," she said.
He stood up and undressed while watching her in all her naked glory. He had never moved on from her. Despite having one night stands here and there, he always felt that it was her or no one else when it came to the long run. He got back down on the bed and kissed his way up her body until he reached her lips again.
"I love you, Saskia," he said.
"I love you too, Eddy," she said.
He pushed inside her and smiled at the sound of her moans. He had missed hearing that so much. He kissed her neck and thrust into her again and again. He kept going with long, deep thrusts until he finally broke her and she cried out in ecstasy. He let go too, moaning her name in her ear, and then held still.
He lifted his head, smiled at her, and kissed her. He rolled down next to her and pulled her into his arms. They could lie like that for the entire day for all he cared. She was back with him and she was never leaving again.
"Today is a good day," she said.
"A great day," he chuckled. "The best day ever."
