Chapter Four
"I'm her daughter" said Lily
Spike choked on his cigarette. "Daughter?" He croaked
"Yeah, I'm Lily" she said shyly
Spike almost recovered from choking "Nice to meet you Bit" he smiled
"I think my mom is gunna freak out when she finds you here, she thought you were dead" said Lily
"She's here?" He asked
"Actually she's out of town right now, she's at Grandpa Giles' for some big Scooby meeting" Lily told him
"Grandpa Giles huh?" Spike smirked
"Of course he's not my real Grandpa like Aunt Willow and Uncle Xander aren't my real Aunt and Uncle but we're family" said Lily
"Glad see the old gang stuck together" he smiled "Tell your mum I said hello Nibblet"
"You can't go… she'll wanna see you" said Lily taking her cellphone out of her pocket and tapping the screen "C'mon mom pick up…"
"Hello?" said Buffy from the other end of the phone
"Mom, you're not going to believe who I just ran into" Lily said excitedly
"Who?" asked Buffy
"Spike" said Lily
The line went quiet, Spike stood waiting for her response.
"FaceTime me now" said Buffy
"Okay…" with a few taps Lily was now video calling her mother "See…" said Lily sharing the screen with Spike
"Hello luv" he said softly
"Oh my god… I'm coming home" said Buffy ending the call
"See I told you she would be excited" smiled Lily

Buffy got in the car and sped home, her mind was racing. Although she had become a better driver in recent years her mind was so preoccupied it was a wonder she didn't cause an accident.
She parked the car on the driveway and rushed into the house. She flung the front door open to find Lily and Spike sitting on the couch laughing.
As soon as Spike saw her enter the room he stood up and approached her. He smiled as he stood in front of her "Hey cutie"
Buffy balled up her fist and punched him in the nose.
"Mom! What the hell!" said Lily, checking on Spike
"Sorry I had to check" said Buffy
"Check what?" asked Lily
"You were honestly checking to see if I was the bloody First?" asked Spike
"Sorry" Buffy smiled weakly
"S'alright luv, still punch like you used to" he smiled
Dawn crashed through the front door "Is he here?" She asked
She spotted Spike with a bloody nose "You're here!" She said excitedly
"Hello Nibblet" he smiled
Dawn threw her arms around Spike as tears pricked her eyes "We thought you were dead"
"So I hear…" he said gently stroking her hair
"Buffy punched you huh?" said Dawn
"Yeah… I like your greeting better" he smiled
"So what are you doing here Spike?" asked Buffy
"I was just passing through" said Spike
There was a moment of silence between them all. "Hey Lil… let's go get a cup of cocoa" said Dawn, snaking her arm around the girl and steering her out of the room.
Lily opened her mouth to protest but Dawn shook her head and whispered "They need a minute"
Buffy watched her sister and daughter leave the room before she spoke "So how have you been?" She asked
"Small talk is it?… I figured after twenty years you'd have a little more for me than that" said Spike
"I said it all with the punch" said Buffy
Spike nodded "It's good to see you"
Of course she had aged over the last twenty years. She wasn't like him, he stayed pretty much the same. She was still as beautiful as ever. If his heart were still beating it would've skipped a few beats when she looked at him and smiled.
"You too… I just… why didn't you tell me you were okay?" she said sadly
"I wanted to… I almost did… and then too much time had passed and I thought you had moved on so I wasn't about to come back into your life and screw it up" he sighed
"I wish you had…" she said softly
"C'mon Slayer, you've got everything you ever wanted… nice digs, a daughter…" he smiled
"Yeah, she's incredible" Buffy gushed
"You and her father must be very proud, she's a hell of a fighter" said Spike
"Her father died… it's just me and Lily" said Buffy
"I'm sorry" he said genuinely
Buffy shrugged it off "It's okay… wait how do you know she's a good fighter?"
"She took out a vamp earlier, very impressive. She reminded me of you" he smiled
"I trained her well" Buffy smiled
"You did Pet"
Lily came back into the living room nursing a mug of cocoa. "You guys hashed things out?" She asked
"Not remotely" said Buffy "But we're good"
"Good" Lily smiled "So Spike, are you sticking around? We've got a few packs of blood in the freezer and the basement is all set up for guests"
"You keep a stock of blood?" frowned Spike
"For when Uncle Angel comes to visit" said Lily
"Comes here often does he?" asked Spike, raising an eyebrow
"Not much… do you two not get along?" asked Lily
"It's jealous vampire crap Lil" said Buffy shaking her head
"Right of course because they're both madly in love with you?" asked Lily
Buffy and Spike shared a look "Who told you that?"
"Andrew" Lily shrugged
"That git" Spike mumbled
"Just so you know Spike, Mom is very single" Lily grinned
Buffy's eyes grew wide "Lily!"
Spike laughed "Thanks Bit, I'll bare that in mind"
"So are you staying or not?" asked Lily
Spike looked at Buffy
"I mean… if you don't have anywhere to be…" Buffy said nervously

Spike followed Lily down the steps and into the basement. He looked around, it reminded him of the old basement in Sunnydale.
He sighed heavily. He hadn't imagined he would ever see Buffy again; he told himself if they were meant to be, they would have found a way to get back to each other.
Seeing her tonight made his heart ache; he'd missed out on so much of her life. Twenty years for him seemed like a short amount of time, but for humans it was a lifetime. He instantly regretted not going to find her after he was done with Angel in LA.
But he was here now, she looked incredible. Her hair bounced in the same way it did before. Her facial expressions were the same. She was still 'his' Buffy.
"So do you need anything?" asked Lily
"No Bit, this will do me fine" he smiled
Lily sat on the cot and he sat next to her.
"I've not seen my mom smile like that in years, I think she's happy you're back" said Lily
"It's good to see her" said Spike
"You still love her?" asked Lily
Spike gave the girl a look
"What?… she's single" said Lily
"Pimp your mum out to all the vampires do you?" he grinned
"No… it's just I kinda know your history, I mean you were over before you ever really begun. I know she loved you" said Lily
"Listen Bit, it's complicated. I've not seen your mum in twenty years" said Spike
"Long lost loves coming together" Lily said dreamily "I love it"
"You really need to brush up on your Spike and Buffy history Pet" Spike laughed
"Lily! Dawn is leaving" Buffy called down
"I'll be up in a minute" Lily called back, she stood up and made her way to the foot of the stairs "Nice to meet you, Spike"
"Likewise Bit" he smiled and watched her go up the stairs
