Chapter nine:

Matt is walking down the hall having calmed from his episode. He pauses as he spots Near moving quickly. He hurries over to the other quickly gathering him into his arms. He can feel the other shaking with fear and anxiety. "Whoa whoa whoa." He holds the other up as said other almost collapses in his arms. "Near. What happened?" He tries to take a moment reminding himself that Near is silent. He takes a breath before trying again. "Was Mello with you when it happened?" He swears he sees a small nod. "Okay. Did he do something to you?" He swears the other gives a small shake of the head. "Did something happen to Mello?" He gets a small nod which makes him worry.

Near suddenly passes out luckily still in Matt's arms.

"Shit." Matt mutters glancing around a little to try to figure out what happened or what to do. He spots a doctor he trusts carrying Near to her.

The doctor looks wide eyed and concerned at seeing that Near has passed out. "What happened?" She checks Near for a fever or anything looking rather worried.

"I don't know. He was terrified about something. All I got was that Mello was with him and something happened to Mello."

"We will look into that. For now let's get Near to the medical room just in case." The doctor helps Matt take the other there where a nurse gets Near to a bed. She stays with Matt while the nurse examines Near for clues about what may have happened. "You can stay here. I'll talk around to the other doctors. If Mello is missing then this could be a problem." She leaves after that however Matt gets a strange feeling in his gut. He glances to Near deciding that he has to look into it himself. "I'll be back. With Mello hopefully." He says softly with it meant for Near. He leaves the room after that in search of what happened to Mello. He starts with the direction that Near came from.

Meanwhile...

Mello groans as he starts to awaken blinking to see a ceiling. He tries to move a hand up to rub his eye but he can't move. His brain waking up much faster and he looks, only to be that his arms and legs are strapped to some sort of table. He tries to break free of the leather straps without success. His demons quickly growing inside especially when not seeing Near anywhere. He turns letting out a growl as Sam enters coming close. He tries again to get out of his restraints. "What did you do!? I'll kill you all!" He shouts struggling as much as he can snarling.

"Near is safe." Sam informs Mello who still struggles and snarls clearly not believing her. She lets out a breath at seeing this. "We let him go. We do have a doctor ready to do some therapy with him. As much as that move wasn't the top choice, it was what we needed to do a part of the stage of the treatment attempts."

"I'll rip you to shreds!" Mellos voice is slightly lower mixed with his snarl. He arches his body while Sam slightly jumps. His demons thoughts are swirling with how he is going to murder them all and escape with Near. He won't spare them once he gets free of these stupid restraints.

"Mello. I'm going to give you something. This is the closest current thing we have to Near. Let us give it to you so you can feel better. If it works as we hope it will. If it doesn't we will get you and Near back together so you can calm down."

Mello growls in response. He finds that despite his struggles Sam cautiously moves closer. He continues to flail as he desperately needs out of the restraints. He tries to reach his head to bite at Sam when she draws close... With no success...

Sam manages to grab his head holding it to the table. She pushes the needle into a part of Mellos neck getting a growling cry of pain. "I know. I'm sorry, but this will give us the best results." She quickly backs off once she has the needle out of Mello.

Mello growls and struggles not feeling anything from what was given. He takes an hour before his struggling slows to a stop. His breathing heavy. He can feel an attempt to yank his demons down however they fight back. He lets out small growls here and there as his demons fight the calming agent. He won't let himself fall to such things!

They all have to die!

Mellos demon seems to be winning though the calming agent puts up a good fight.

"Hm. Not quite but close. This might work." Sam mentions before turning to something that Mello doesn't pay attention to. "Let's bring them together. We gotta find Near."

Mello growls a low warning while trying to shift to wiggle his hands free. He has to get out of here! He has to!

Those damn bastards will deserve what's coming their way!

Despite his anger Mello can see a familiar red head use a rock to knock out Sam.

Matt rushes over to Mello who growls to him. "I found Near. He's safe." He tells the other trying to calm him down. "I'll take you to him. I overheard the doctors talking about this in another room. This is wrong. Even for the purposes of studying to make better treatments."

"Don't trust." Mello growls and Matt raises his hands in surrender.

"I don't blame you. After what happened to you. However, we don't have time to waste. We'll be hunted soon enough." Matt reaches for the restraints knowing he will have to run as soon as Mello is free. He lowers his voice to the other. "We're getting out of here. The three of us. We have to expose what they did to you and Near. Near was terrified! Probably having been triggered with his trauma. And yet they want to repeat until they get the results they want!? No. That I s wrong." He quickly undoes the restrains and Mello basically flies off of the table.

Mello crouches ready to spring at Matt with a growl.

"Come on. Catch me. Let's get to Near." Matt taunts a little to get Mello moving.

Mello charges so the red head running through the halls he memorized long ago. He keeps chasing the other through all the turns Matt takes. He skids to a stop as Matt jumps to the other side of Nears bed so he's beside the other yet Mello can see Near. He approaches slowly only to look over Near once close enough. He doesn't see any wounds and the worst seems to be a slight nightmare the way he's twitching with whimpers. He lets out a breath as his demon settles at seeing Near okay. He reaches out brushing a hand on the others cheek. "Near. I'm here."

Nears eyes open quickly and don't focus for a moment as Mello and Matt lean over him. He spots Mello with one eye and Matt with the other. He relaxes a little at seeing them. He does still look scared to the two.

Mello takes one of Nears hands into his own.

Matt on the other hand places a hand on Nears shoulder.

Both just trying to offer some comfort to the poor traumatized boy.

Near does relax a little more to show his appreciation for their gestures.

Matt looks to Mello causing the other to turn meeting his eyes. "We're getting out here." He informs them with confidence despite no plan.

"How?" Mello questions as he and Near watch him. His question however seems to stump Matt making Mello groan at this. "Go figure you wouldn't know how."

"Hey!" Matt protests though he drops it at spotting Nears hands that are trembling. He won't push things right now; whatever happened got him good. He tries to shake it off since he needs to try to figure out a way for them to get out. He brings the maps of the place he had gotten on his computer, into his mind as he has memorized it well. He tries to think of if there's any place for them to go from here to get out.

Someone out there has to know what's going on, and not to mention how he needs to get the two of them to a safe spot.

Nears condition, mainly still asleep, he won't be of much help anyway even when awake considering how his trauma affected him. That doesn't matter though as the other two are ready to help him get somewhere safe.

So I did this chapter on my phone before I fell asleep. So I'm really hoping I managed to catch all the autocorrects looking through it.
