Previously on the New world
The Mayor sat in front of her son's school in her car as she awaited his dismissal.
Nail painted hands dial a number on her cell phone quickly.
There was one ring before the line was answered.
"Mr. Glass" The Mayor smiles widely, wickedly.
"Good afternoon, Madam Mayor" The man on the other line respondes.
"I need you to check on a patient at "Storybrooke's happy homes for those in need"
A psychiatric hospital.
"I- of course." The man searched for his words
"What's her name?"
"Liana French."
Black heels clicked against the ground as the mayor's legs carried her downstairs, through the hospital's corridors where she found herself in the mental asylum, 'Storybrooke's happy homes for those in need'
The former queen had dropped Henry home after lifting him from school on time that evening, her specific instructions being
"Do not leave this house, do you understand me?"
The boy nods in agreement
"You have my pinky swear" he responds
Little did Regina know the boy had crossed two fingers behind his lower back.
The boy wouldn't leave, but that also didn't mean he would stay alone.
He'd had other pressing matters to deal with that didn't involve listening to the evil queen.
Currently
She leaves a single rose at the receptionists desk and asks the brunette behind the counter
"Has she had any visitors?" Of course the mayor knew the answer.
"You're the only one that knows she's here it seems, no one has come"
The middle aged woman responds.
Regina walks down the hall and opens the mail and meal flap, it was the only open slit on the door.
Liana French rested there, "perhaps she's done enough resting" Regina mutters to herself.
The cursed Liana French would soon be freed. But not so easily you see,
not when she had leverage against the imp who took her happy ending away.
The queen loved Henry, he was her everything but he wasn't Daniela.
He'd never be Daniela.
"Hello?" The girl dressed in a hospital gown sits up upon hearing the creak of the flap opening.
"Hello dear" Regina used her key to open the door slowly.
The mayor walks in, a sneering grin stretched her lips.
"Perhaps you've spent enough time here. I believe it's time we show you what's out there" the mayor's gaze trails off to the only bar covered window in the cold room.
Liana's confused expression turned grateful.
"What will you have me do?"
Meanwhile
"Y-you grew up here?" Daniela walks through the large manor that Henry invited her, Taylor and Emma into.
Memories of being bounced around from foster home to foster home to Juvy and back over and over flooded her brain.
She grew up roughly with Taylor, the two always had each other's back which meant what one had gone through, the other had witnessed. She couldn't believe her eyes, what she was seeing, so many beautiful pieces of art and peace.
It was so quiet and it felt like…home.
"Yeah it's not all it's cracked up to be" the kid replies from where he stood behind her in the foyer.
"Totally…" the word trailed off as the brunette couldn't believe her eyes.
"Earth to Dani?" Taylor snaps her fingers in front of the woman's face who seemed to have been trapped in her thoughts.
"Yeah sorry I just" she picks up a picture frame, a photo of Regina and Henry and stares at it for what felt like forever.
"I was just robbed is all" she sighs and looks at Emma.
"When will you tell me the story?" Emma opens her mouth to respond but Henry beats her to it.
"Oh! Here I've got just the thing" he races to his mothers study and says "don't touch anything, she'll notice" the three girls take a seat on the couch, Henry comes to sit in between Emma and Daniela, holding a book that read "Once upon a time" the brother and sister pair read out loud in unison.
He opens it and begins to read
The enchanted forest
"Heya! Ya!" Snow White, skin as white as snow and hair as black as night, rode her steed through the stable course as a teenage girl, about the same age as Regina.
"Woah woah woah girl" her steed began to go wild, not sure why, maybe it saw a snake? None of that mattered now because Snow White was in danger.
Regina and Daniel had been having a picnic, their affair remained secret due to her mothers villainous ways.
Who knew what she'd do to poor Daniel had she found out.
Regina spotted the girl and rouge horse from where she sat and immediately stood
"Do you see that?" She asked Daniel who frowned softly watching the scene unravel
"That girl, she- she needs help" and with that the soon to be evil queen jumped onto her horse and took off to save Snow White.
Present hour
"Wait so she saved her? That's how they met?" Henry nods "Yes, and then Leopold marries Regina soon after, against her will. Cora forced her" Henry looks at Daniela who feigned confusion "She forced her?"
"Got any popcorn?" Taylor asks. Always the charmer that blonde is
The kid flips through a few pages "Yes, she forced her and then the evil queen had him killed by Sidney when he asked for another child"
Daniela covers her hand with her mouth.
"Then she married Daniel. Your father" Taylor and Emma listen closely, Daniela shocked as she grabs the book and reads from it. Flipping page after page. "And Snow White went on the run because the evil queen told everyone she killed her own father." Daniela says out loud.
"But what about" she flips page after page once more, through everyone's story until she finally reaches Emma's.
"Is this you?" She holds up the book, showing Emma the animated photo of her slaying Daniel.
Of her slaying her father.
The room grows quiet
"Yes. It's me"
"And that's my…" The brunette's eyes swell with tears as her fingers trace over Daniel's body on the sheet of paper.
"He's" she swallows the large lump in her throat
"Was he evil too?" She looks at Henry who turns to Emma before looking back to Daniela "Not at first" was all he said
"Will you… tell me about him sometime?" The lawyer asked the savior who just nodded in response.
"Then what happened?"
Henry's expression grows afraid
"Then Regina won. At the cost of giving you up, she really regrets it you know" Emma chimes in
Silence lingered in the air
"It doesn't matter, I'm nothing like her" the lawyer replies
"You're actually a lot alike" Henry and Emma say in unison before bursting into laughter
"And you're like me, kid" she rubs his hair looking at him
"We've all made some pretty big mistakes" Emma sighs
"Doesn't mean we can't make them right" Taylor adds
This made Daniela think.
She thought long and hard.
Could she and Regina save their relationship?
Could Regina be…good?
The next day at 9:45am, the brunette called Daniela rolled out of bed abruptly
"Shit" the quiet room is broken from the sound of her body falling and hitting the hard floor.
"Ow"
Taylor laughs from where she laid in her twin sized bed across from her best friend
"You okay?" The blonde retorts, face still shoved in her pillow.
"Just fine down here" Daniela aughs too
"Shit" standing to her feet, the woman rubs her head and heads into the bathroom to complete her morning routine.
Taylor found herself falling back to sleep only to be awaken by a pillow smacking against her head
"Fuck!"
"Language" the lawyer laughs before saying "I'm gonna grab us something from granny's, brb"
Taylor grumbles something horrid and foul.
That girl was not a morning person.
Daniela found herself walking downstairs, staring down at her feet, in a daze as the last few days had been, well insane.
The mayor bumps right into her
"Good morning" a smile grazes Regina's lips upon seeing her daughter.
'She looks just like me.' She tells herself.
"Sorry, I should've been paying attention" was all Dani said before standing in line at the bed and breakfast, waiting to take her order patiently, Regina approached her once more
"I hope I'm not bothering you, would you like to sit with me?"
The entire restaurant feigned shock watching the two women interact.
Some faces remembering Daniela from years ago, others confused.
"No thanks" she was dying to say yes but she knew she couldn't.
Regina had dropped her down a well like a freaking coin.
The mayor nods defeated, her smile widening, fake.
"Alright.." the former queen goes to sit in a booth, her breakfast brought to her by Ruby.
Alone.
