It was about a week after the incident that Naruto and Tsunade made up and she quickly became fond of the boy. Especially once she found out that he wasn't a pervert like his father.
He was a smart boy but he wasn't arrogant. She also found him to be good luck because every time she and Jiraiya went to the gambling halls, he'd come and she'd win. He started to open up more to her and Shizune.
Shizune practically claimed the boy as her own. He was with her for most of the time training. She even taught him the 'Mystic palm jutsu' which he and Jiraiya were thankful for.
Currently he and Shizune were sitting down in a clearing. They had just got finished sparring and they were taking a break. The two Sannin were off doing Kami knows what. "So Naruto do you plan on ever becoming a shinobi of Konoha?"she suddenly asked.
Naruto looked up at her and shook his head with a frown. "Nah, i won't lie and say that i haven't thought about it but I enjoy the freedom of not being tied down to a village.
There's so much of the world for me to explore and I can't really do that if I'm stuck doing stupid missions"he said. She chuckled at the boys answer. "Well i for one would like to go back eventually.
I miss the atmosphere and helping people"she said. "Well tell the old lady that you wanna go back" he said as if it was the simplest thing. She smiled sadly. "While it sounds simple, she still wants nothing to do with Konoha.
And I won't leave her side so i guess i won't be in the leaf anytime soon". Naruto was about to reply but quickly stood up as he sensed a presence.
Shizune stood up as well seeing the look on his face. Out walked a man who wore a black cloak with red clouds. He had orange hair and piercings in his face.
But the thing that caught their attention was his eyes. They'd never seen anything like them before. But something else was troubling Naruto. The feeling he got from the man was 1000 times worse than the feeling he got from Sasori.
"W-who are you?"asked a very scared Naruto. The man glanced menacingly at the two kids. "I am Pain. I was tasked to test your abilities. Do me a favor and try not to die"he said as he pointed his hands in their direction.
"All might push!"he said as they were blown back. He didn't use his full strength on them because he did not want to kill them. He watched as they slowly got up. "Almighty pull" he said, as he pulled Shizune towards him and grabbed her by the throat.
He raised her in the air and stared at her with piercing eyes. Naruto looked on in the horror. He had to do something, and he had to do it quick without much thought he pulsated chakra into his eyes and rewinded time for five seconds, and quickly pushed her out out of the way of the jutsu. Pain narrowed his eyes at this. He could have sworn that he pulled the girl towards him, and now she was out of his grasp.
He turned towards the white haired boy and went through hand signs. "Fire style fireball jutsu" he said. A small fire ball flew in Narutos direction.
He went through with his own set of hand signs, and spewed out an equally sized fire ball. The two fireballs collided and notified each other, but he quickly had to get out of dodge of a kick that was descending upon him.
He turned around and saw the foot and dented in the ground, and he was terrified. 'Where was his father in Tsunade?'he thought frantically. He had no more time to think as another kick send it up on him.
He went through hand signs and shot a stream of lightning towards the man, but he was shocked as the man seemingly allowed it to hit him, but it didn't hurt him. " How did it not hurt you?"he asked.
The man said nothing as he pulled in Naruto towards him. He suddenly pulled out a black rod, and was about to stab the boy, but the metal rod shrunk in his hand upon colliding with the boy.
He narrowed his eyes at this. "Just what happened" he thought cryptically. Naruto punched the man in the face, but it did little to no damage.
Pain then threw Naruto towards a tree, and he crashed into it. He saw needles flying towards him and he allowed them to hit him, but they did not penetrate him. Turning around he saw the girl throwing even more needles.
He swatted the projectiles away and kicked her in the stomach, sending her crashing to the floor. He caught a kick coming to his head and gripped the boy tightly as Naruto screamed.
"You are obviously not strong enough. I don't see what he sees in you, although your eyes are pretty interesting. They pale in comparison to the eyes of a God. Get stronger and seek me out for another battle in the future." And with that he placed chop to the back of Naruto's neck as he passed out.
Minutes prior
Jiraiya and Tsunade were talking about their sensei as they both heard a voice. " The toad, sage, and the slug princess, I would be lying. If I said, it was a pleasure to meet you." And they turned around and saw a man with an orange spiraling mask.
"Who are you?" asked Tsunade. The man chuckled. "You'd never guess" replied, and the man. Jiraiya saw the robes as was on guard immediately. "Akatski" he spat venomously.
"Ah so you know of my group?"he asked. "What do you want?" asked Jiraiya. "Oh me, I want nothing more than what you want. True peace". "And you expect us to believe that? You won't even show us your face" replied Tsunade.
"My appearance is not important. Only my goals"he said. "I hear young Naruto has a lot of potential. Those eyes interest me as well"he said teasingly.
Both Sannin narrowed their eyes and Jiraiya flared his chakra. "You will go nowhere near him"he replied dangerously. The man laughed. "I don't need to.
He's being tested at the moment, along with that girl"he said. In an instant, Jiraiya was in front of him with a rasengan. But to his shock, he fazed right through the man. "Now before we do something we'll regret, just remember i have their lives in the palm of my hands."
"You bastard! If you hurt them, I'll make sure you wish you hadn't" Tsunade screamed. "Well i gave instructions to have them not be killed but i didn't specify how bad they could get hurt"he said casually.
Seeing the two shinobi ready themselves to attack, the masked man sighed. Flaring a bit of his chakra, a barrier formed around the Sannin. "Fuinjutsu"thought a confused Jiraiya.
He knew of this seal and knew that he could only escape if he had more chakra than the user. Trying to sense the chakra of the man but found none. It was like he wasn't even there.
Tsunade gathered all of her strength and punched the barrier. It shook violently but the man just laughed maniacally. "You will not escape until I allow you two. Now you two will listen and listen clearly.
Especially you," he pointed to Jiraiya. "Stop trying to intrude on the plans of the akatski. No more spying, no more gathering information. I'd hate to have to kill you all"he spoke coldly.
"You won't get away with this" spoke the angered Toad Sage. "Mmmh we'll just see about that"as he taped his chin in a thinking manner. That's when Pain decided to make his presence known and Jiraiya was alarmed. Those eyes! "Rinnegan" Jiraiya muttered.
Both men looked at the trapped ninja but said nothing. A swirling vortex sucked the two members in and they disappeared leaving the newly freed Sannin alone. They waisted no time and dashed to the kids.
They found shizune cradling an unconscious Naruto. "Oh my goodness, what happened?" asked a frantic Tsunade. Shizune recalled what had transpired and to say that Jiraiya was pissed was an understatement.
They tried to test Naruto like he was some kind of experiment. They obviously knew who he was and his relation. He sighed in relief when Shizune said he was just knocked out.
He also pondered about what the girl said she saw. "Purple eyes?"he thought. He'd ask Naruto about that when everything was alright. They checked over the kids and made their way to a hotel.
