Two weeks after the failed skinning of the Dalmatian Clan, the pups are still recovering from the traumatic event, with multiple cases of sleepless nights and a few waking up in tears.
All the while, they were unaware that someone new had moved into 102. This tired and shriveled older man was the retired leader of Camden's Animal Control.
Through his unconventional ways, he's solved several significant crimes in his time committed by both people and animals. He is currently, By Request of a mysterious contact, heading over to investigate Camden town at one of the worst possible time
I pursued the messy Martian slug as it ran around my ship, trying to hide in any small place it could squeeze its slimy body into while leaving puddles of thick, slimy jelly wherever it went. I struggled to find the thing before it could create a nest, blasting every puddle of corrosive sludge before it could start eating the metal hull of my spaceship, which was currently carrying my family in their cryo pods as they slept.
"Ah, there you are!" I cried out as I finally managed to hit it with a few carefully placed shots from my sterilizer gun when it tried racing past the storage room and into the dining area.
Slowly, I moved forward; all the while, I smiled like an idiot underneath my space helmet, proud that I had finally managed to slay this enemy of cleanliness in its many forms.
However, as I approached its slowly dissolving form, I suddenly received an alert about an incoming message from the main bridge. I moved my paw to the left side of my helmet to activate the coms.
"Yo, bro! Time to get up. Dizzy and Deedee just woke up crying again and requested you help them get back to sleep with another one of your dorky space stories." groaned out the tired voice of Dolly.
Dylan irritably grumbled about the indignity of being ripped away from such a good dream as he uncurled himself and got up from his comfortable dog bed.
As he followed his sister down the hall into the room where the twins were currently, even from the doorway, he heard them whimpering. He internally groaned that this was the fifth time he'd had to help them get back to sleep in the last four days.
However, he didn't blame them. Nobody who got that close to being skinned alive could go back to normal as if nothing had happened. Even the neighbor Constantin meowed irritably about the fact she left such a dark haze of negative energy around his place.
" all right, girls, what story do you want to hear?" asked Dylan as he walked up to them and groggily took a seat by their shivering forms. "U-um, how about a story where an evil alien queen captures the Dogstar?" Dizzy asks, hoping her twin isn't too scared of their nightmare to continue the story request.
"Ye-yeah, and she wants to take an artifact that belongs to the crew of the Dog Star and use it to rule the universe. Right?" Stuttered Dee Dee as both Dylan and Dolly listened to story requests all the while watching as the twins went back to their usual bubbly selves bouncing request after request for the story Dylan was about to tell that was until Dylan heard an irritating red flag in one of the requests
