Sieg
"...How did you get something like this?" Ray asked in bewilderment.
"I got this from one of my clients as payment." I replied to him while placing Scyther's pokeball in the half-circle shaped slot, fitting perfectly around Scyther's Pokeball. I then pressed the button 'on' to kickstart the machine.
After the match, Ray wanted to suggest rushing Scyther to a nearby Pokemon Center. It wouldn't do well for its health to remain in stasis injured for long periods. Still, the nearest one was at a resort about half an hour's walk away, so I politely cut in, telling them to leave Scyther's recovery to me. Naturally, they didn't expect that my mobile home would have something like this.
I considered myself lucky for being able to obtain this RV.
At first, I was disappointed when I got offered this by my client. Due to a lack of funds on their part for my service, we had to renegotiate. They weren't bad people, just clumsy researchers with a habit for spontaneously spending a lot of money on things they deem valuable. The fossils I had on hand at the time were just that appealing to them. Enough to force them, already in debt, to beg me for a deal.
Honestly, my first impression of the tin can on wheels was not good. Not to mention its poor condition due to being abandoned in a dusty garage for who knows how long, it needed a lot of effort to make it somewhat eligible as living space.
It took a lot of money for repairs and furniture, denting my savings severely. In the end, it was a worthy investment, considering this machine built into the vehicle really saved me on numerous occasions.
The table hummed, five of the six slots remaining silent except for the slot where Scyther's pokeball was bathed in a soft green light. A scanning laser roved over it twice before the panel directly in front of me showed the pokemon's status within stasis.
All green. No severe damage received. Psych scans came back clean. Aria made sure to hold back that she left no lasting trauma, physical or otherwise. I guess she deserves a cuddling and a treat later.
"Truly fascinating…" The professor muttered as the machine's humming came to a stop and the lights slowly faded. With a soft hiss, the vacuum seal holding the underside of Scyther's pokeball released and I was able to retrieve it without issue. Handing it over his daughter's pokemon, the man was finally able to speak up. "To have quite the advanced machine on hand, as well as a vast array of pokemon companions standing by, I can't help but question just who you are, Mr. Sieg."
My face tensed a bit but I decided not to give too much away. "...Just a normal treasure hunter, I'm afraid. My clients are the interesting ones though. You wouldn't imagine how much the researchers priced this RV so they could get a couple of Tyrunt fossils."
This caused Parker's eyes to brighten hearing my explanation. "Wait, a couple of Tyrunt fossils? They're pretty rare! How did you find it, Mr. Sieg? Do you encounter any rare Pokemon during your exploration? Are you still keeping some of those fossils with you? Man, it would be awesome if I can get myself one. Bet my friends would be jealous!"
I chuckled hearing Chloe's lil' brother chime passionately about bragging to his friends. If I had the chance to dunk on others as a kid, I'd no doubt do the same.
Luckily for them, I was an adult.
And unluckily for Parker, his mother was watching with an embarrassed scowl.
"That's enough Parker! And stop nagging Mr. Sieg like that. Even if he's taken the job as your older sister's mentor, you shouldn't bother him."
"But mom~! Who knows what other awesome stuff Mr. Sieg has hidden in his van!" Parker retorted much to my amusement as the duo mother-son began to argue in front of me, much to Ray's sheepish smile.
"I am sorry about my son's behavior, Sieg." he tried to apologize, but I waved him off.
"No need for that. A child's curiosity is always something that is unpredictable, even for me, but it's appreciated. I'd say it's good that he's being enthusiastic at this age, showing that he loves Pokemon like his family. Parker's in good hands." I replied earnestly, to which both parents' smiled embarrassingly at being praised. "I've met my fair share of brats that have their own familial issues so it's relaxing to meet normal and happy families like yours."
"Hehe… See mom, I am a good kid!" Parker replied innocently, much to his parents' visible irritation. I watched in the sidelines as the younger Cerise got himself another, albeit softer, scolding about not bothering me. Something that Chloe used to approach me, whispering into my ears, while Scyther dutifully stood behind her.
"My apologies for his behavior," she explained while watching her brother. "Parker is… well, I wouldn't say my brother's perfect. He certainly isn't. But he's a good kid. Just gets a little overly excited sometimes, especially about Pokemon… You wouldn't believe how many times he's been caught playing around with the ones my father was tasked to take care of on occasion."
"No worries," I waved her apology, telling it wasn't something that bothered me at all. "You can teach him properly about Pokemon, and he will be a proper trainer. Yet, let him have that excitement and curiosity about everything related to Pokemon, and he will be a better one than most. Well-meaning kids are great at taking care of their partners, but it's the ever-curious ones that pioneer pokemon exploration."
"I-Is that so… I understand, Mr. Sieg." Chloe replied hesitantly.
"You'll understand it someday," I replied while placing my hand on her shoulder to ease her. "In any case, since your Scyther is already recovered, why not try and get your second pokemon?"
"S-so soon?" Chloe stammered with her eyes immediately directed towards mine. "B-but Scyther just recently recovered…"
"Listen, Chloe," I said while giving her shoulder an encouraging elbow bump. "You gotta strike while the iron is hot. Considering that a trainer of your caliber should've started her journey way back already, you could've caught at least two more Pokemon by now."
"B-but, Mr. Sieg…"
"I'm not just saying this to get your mood up. I'm serious when I say you have potential to be a great trainer. Might as well try catching up with your peers and nab another wild one when you're in prime real estate for amazing beginners. The Viridian Forest's variety is no joke and gaining some experience in actual wild battles would do you some good. Plus," I thought back to the girl's expression as well as the determination one could see in Scyther when meeting her gaze. "Your buddy's also got the resolve to grow, but he can't do it alone. As his partner, he grows alongside you. Now go out there and kick ass."
I truly believe this girl has potential. Hence, giving the hesitant brat an encouraging slap on her rear.
SMACK
"Eeep—!"
Though it made Chloe yelp in surprise, causing her to get unwanted attention from her family.
Scyther merely raised an eyebrow.
"What's wrong, Chloe?"
"N-n-n-n-nothing-! I-I just almost tripped, hehehe..."
"Ah, be careful down there, okay?" replied Ray while immediately going back to studying my mini-Pokecenter recovery module. Talia was now tugging on Parker's ear as he was finally convinced to behave.
Chloe though, she quickly went about-face, turning her attention back to me, seemingly almost snapping her neck to do it too. Face flushing an embarrassed crimson, she glared at me with tears comically flowing on her eyes, as if asking 'what was that for!?'.
I chuckled, while whispering directly in her ears, much to her embarrassment. "Just wanted to give you some encouragement. No longer feeling down, aren't you?"
She had no reply. Well, she tried to speak, look away, and then huff with her arms crossed. Not once thanking me or refuting my point.
"There you go, kid. No sense wasting time moping after your loss in a battle. Now get your beautiful ass out there and don't come back until you've nabbed a new pokemon. I'll be here entertaining your father's curiosity for the time being."
With that, I walked towards other Cerise members, leaving Chloe to shyly take her leave with Scyther whose pokeball I slipped into her back pocket with the slap. She left, rubbing said back pocket a little tenderly.
Hm. Perhaps I should've held back a bit. Could it be said it was my fault her chubby rear was sensitive?
Scyther
Scyther was unsure how to react the moment he opened his eyes again after being beaten one-sided by a flock of fluffy—no, a monster hiding beneath a cloud of fluff. Worse, he knew that his opponent was holding back by a lot. One might not have noticed as they focused on the beak's impact on Scyther's shell carapace, but the way Aria the Altaria moved was too flashy and didn't have enough weight behind the strikes.
That she was restraining herself yet still landing him in critical condition was testament to her power. Moreso of this human named Sieg who nurtured that magnificent specimen of an Altaria.
Even now, she waved with a bubbly chirp the moment she saw him, much to his awkwardness.
She then approached him, asking about his condition while nuzzling her cheek against the section of Scyther's carapace that took the brunt of the damage. The smaller cloud bird warbled an apology and crooned to ask whether there was any permanent damage. Scyther shook his head in response.
Once again, Scyther was unsure to react when she used her fluffy wings to pull him over to the nearest table, where her other companion and a familiar face was sitting down in a chair. Crossing his scaly arms with his eyes closed, Scyther's master immediately opened his eyes, showing a pair of yellowish-slitted eyes as he greeted Scyther with a calm and low growl.
Drasil the Sceptile was a comforting presence among this league of monstrosity.
The term of calling Sceptile as his master was coming from Scyther himself. The first time they met, it began after Scyther awoke when the sun hadn't shown its appearance yet, and with his savior lying beside him, eyes closed while enjoying her rest in contempt. It took a few tries, but Scyther finally was able to release himself from his savior-turned trainer from her grasp, before he heard someone greet him.
Scyther turned his head and met with a rather unusual Sceptile. Taller frame, well-developed muscle, and a calm gaze, as the green lizard welcomed Scyther to his residence.
Unlike the many lackadaisical and territorial of its species, Drasil came off as a quiet one that kept to himself. Nonetheless, a polite request for a spar from the green lizard was given before Scyther could even respond. And being obliged to accept any challenge according to instinct, Scyther immediately accepted, thinking that no matter how big, he could at least get by. He'd always done so before meeting his new 'trainer'.
Oh, how wrong he was.
Instead of having a good sparring session, the fight turned to be Scyther's grueling attempt to stand his ground against a deceptively nimble opponent.
No matter how much effort he produced in an attempt to graze the taller, larger lizard, it all fell off when it became obvious Scyther's superior speed was anything but. Worse still, Scyther could infer from Drasil's expression that this wasn't a simple spar. More mockery and some fun on the formerly wild pokemon's ego.
As far as Scyther remembered, he was always a survivor. Alone since birth, from a tender age, he fought hard and fast, learning how to thrive in the wilds independent of his brood. Such was the way of his kind, or so he believed. He'd never met another Scyther as far as he remembered. All he had was instinct. That was all that mattered anyway.
They're strangers at most to him, and if he ever met them, it would likely end with aggression from both sides, hence why he didn't bother to seek out his kin.
Living in Viridian forest had taught him the necessity of strength. It ruled everything. Whether it came from a single individual Pokemon, or through the sheer numbers of a migrating herd. Scyther respected that law of survival where only the fittest make it out alive. And as a Pokemon under the effect of this jungle's law, Scyther was confident of his own strength.
Scyther knew that he was strong. He'd only ever run away from situations that couldn't be won one-on-one or when he subconsciously provoked a passing herd's animosity. The Beedrill swarm was one such incident.
One fight which nearly led into the end of line of his life. One that made scyther almost believe that his end was near.
Though it all changed the moment he met his new 'trainer', where she brazenly saved him by forcefully making him swallow the food that filled him with strength.
Despite knowing he could severely maim her, she didn't care and still took the initiative to secure his wellbeing. For all of his life where constant vigilance was first and foremost for him, this moment was something new for Scyther.
Not to mention the moment when his trainer begged him to trust her, which normally Scyther would adamantly refuse for entrusting his life to a stranger he just met. But instead, he believed her, and they both managed to win before later being saved by someone who later became his trainer's mentor.
Someone whom Scyther revered for being able to gather this pack of monstrosities.
"Alright Scyther," His eyes perked up the moment Scyther heard his trainer's voice. She'd been pacing around after letting him out of her pokeball and was nervously fidgeting with her rear, hence why he was sat with Aria and the others. Now sounding more resolved, albeit still red in the face, she puffed her chest and said readily. "We need to enter the forest. Sieg's first order to our training as partners. He told us to gain some experience and possibly find another pokemon to be my second catch. I need your help to accomplish this."
Scyther nodded at his trainer's explanation, acknowledging it as a reasonable order. Though he was new to being subordinate to a human, his instinct was keen enough to recognize why humans captured and bonded with pokemon like she did with him.
It was out of necessity because they themselves were weak. And though he wouldn't admit to being the same, getting injured and having to depend on a 'weakling' proved otherwise. If she wanted to train her strength and bring him along, he was all for it. Their synergy was lacking as it showed during their performance against Aria. No matter how much she held back, the sheer difference between his prowess with the caring Altaria was very telling that he wasn't strong enough to win, with or without orders.
Scyther's thought was halted when he heard the voice from his trainer's mentor from afar. "Chloe, before you head off deeper into the forest, I gotta give you a heads up. One of my Pokemon will be scouting the area around you, so if you have an emergency, just whistle and they'll be down to pick you up, got it?"
It was reasonable considering his trainer was nothing but a greenhorn in the survival department, something which Scyther was much better at. Having one of these monstrosities as their watcher would guarantee their safety.
Scyther hoped that his master would be the one to accompany them. But apparently the mentor had a different idea as the looming visage of the domineering Sapphire the Salamence walked closer. Larger than most of the others here, it could likely flatten the home Scyther's master's mentor lived in by just sitting on the top. Each step from her imperious visage demanded nothing but draconian respect, which even Scyther himself was lowering his head on reflex.
"U-uh…! Sieg!" Chloe's agitated voice called her mentor who casually stood beside the hulking behemoth of Sapphire, who stood dutifully beside her master. "I-is it okay for your pokemon to accompany us for this? I-I mean we're just wandering around the forest-!"
"It's fine," The mentor tried to reassure his protege while scratching Sapphire's hide, though Scyther noticed the humongous dragon barely showed any reaction… Aside from her tail, which repeatedly slapped the ground near her. "Sapphire won't even interfere. She's just going to circle around the skies in case you need backup."
His trainer looked unsure, but she nodded nonetheless. "A-alright if you say so. Let's go, Scyther!"
Scyther replied with a growl, quickly stood from his place but not before announcing his departure to Drasil and the caring Aria, who each responded with a calm growl and a happy chirp while waving her fluffy wings.
Surprisingly, the walk was quite peaceful which opposed what Scyther initially thought. Having lived in this forest for as long as he could remember, Scyther was half-expecting the dwellers to instantly respond to their arrival by introducing themselves. But none of them were showing themselves, leaving their adventure with nothing but a dull venture.
Scyther deduced that it was partly due to Sapphire's presence, as the enormous Salamence who was hovering around them was the cause of many dwellers to be intimidated by her presence alone.
Sapphire was probably also realizing the same thing as Scyther did, and decided to leave so she wouldn't hinder their exploration. Despite this, Scyther was still able to sense her even though it was faint, aside from a couple of shadows in the skies which occasionally passed them.
As they reached the water's edge, Scyther suddenly heard his trainer's cries.
"Ah!"
Scyther immediately brandished his bladed arms, leaping ahead between the bushes. He quickly dashed forward to protect Chloe, eyes sharpening, anticipating the danger ahead,
What Scyther didn't expect was an encounter with packs of familiar green-skinned crawlers whose existence were nothing but a menace as far as he could remember. Leading those spiders was a bigger red-skinned horned one, and also a few of the most annoying dwellers he ever faced before, considering those creatures mostly ambushed him during the dark.
"They're attacking them, those poor Azurill!"
Indeed like his trainer had said, those Spinarak were currently hissing in a threatening manner against a pack of the jumpers while holding a few of them as hostages. While most of the jumpers were frightened, one lone Azurill who was also the largest of them was bouncing repeatedly, chirping loudly in demand of releasing its kind. That particular jumper gained some of his respect to an extent. Despite being a tenth of his own size, the little one was far too energetic for its own good. Even going so far as to challenge things many times bigger from its size.
Scyther couldn't comprehend where those tiny frames got such bravery, or recklessness.
Both packs were now aware of their arrival, as their eyes bore directly into Scyther and his trainer. The Spinarak were first to react by releasing rattled sounds as a sign of intimidation, showing their wariness at the newcomer. The Azurill on the other hand quickly retreated further with few of them eyeing the crawlers in agitation.
All except for the biggest Azurill, who just eyed him with wariness before moving its gaze back and forth between Scyther and the Spinarak, as if it was intended to face every single of them.
All stood still in silence, waiting for whoever reacted first.
"Scyther, please help those Azurill! Use Quick Attack on that Ariados!"
And the first one who reacted was his trainer who issued a command to ally with the Azurill. Scyther didn't voice his complaint as he leapt with a big stride. Before both packs reacted, Scyther was one step ahead by ramming through the red crawler—Ariados' body with a crushing blow, which enticed a pained rasp from the Pokemon who wasn't expecting a sneak attack.
"Use Fury Attack before it can retaliate!"
Acknowledging his trainer's order, Scyther's eyes sharpened as he lifted his arms up-high, unleashing a series of rapid strikes at Ariados who reacted by lifting its front legs to defend himself from getting thrashed. Unfortunately, this garnered the Spinarak's attention as they immediately responded by throwing their smaller body directly at Scyther from every angle, forcing Scyther to halt his assault. Things didn't get better when they started shooting thin, gooey silk from their mouths which forced Scyther to dodge, much to his annoyance.
The Spinarak pack then started to spew multiple purplish darts on him. Scyther knew he couldn't dodge the entire raining poisonous needle completely, and had to resolve it by using his arms as a shield to defend himself, rapidly deflecting each of those miniscule darts by utmost precision.
"Scyther! Look out behind you!"
Scyther's eyes widened when he heard his trainer's frantic scream. When he defended himself, he failed to realize that Ariados had sneaked up behind his blind spot. The moment he turned head, the looming silhouette of the spider Pokemon was already in front of his face.
Scyther could only stared, as Ariados' stinger went flying straight onto his face—
"—Ril!"
Not before a blur of blue suddenly appeared in front of stunned Scyther, using its much smaller body and rammed straight into Ariados, causing the larger spider to fall unceremoniously several yards away.
The mantis immediately recognized the silhouette as the larger Azurill who had previously stood brazenly before Spinarak's pack. It showed a smirk while jumping repeatedly while letting out a high-pitched cry, which Scyther quickly identified the Azurill as a female, like most of other jumpers he met before during his time in the wilds, as their species are predominantly female.
A series of cries made Scyther turn his attention on his behind, watching how the Spinarak were currently engaging in an all-out brawl against the Azurill. His trainer stood in mesmerized face seeing the entire ordeal as it was probably her first time watching a territorial war.
It didn't matter for Scyther, as his attention quickly returned to the leader of the pack who already stood after receiving an unexpected blow from the big jumper. He had his order to help these jumpers, and he will be fulfilling it according to his trainer's will.
"Quick Attack!"
Acknowledging Chloe's order, Scyther's arms glowed brightly as he became a blur itself. Before Ariados could even react, the mantis was already swinging his blades, raining it with cold, calculated strikes which drew a pained hiss from Ariados. The red spiders tried to take some distance by jumping behind. Seeing that, Azurill quickly jumps on its tail as she was using it as a spring to bounce straight into the air. The Dot Pokemon then unleashed a devastating blow by redirecting her tail by using her body as the center of gravity, punishing the invader of her home with an unforgiving blow which sent Ariados' battered body slammed directly to the nearest tree, before hitting the ground below.
The red crawler didn't move after that peculiar blow.
This immediately caused the Spinarak's pack to scatter away. Few of them are sensible enough to brought their unmoving leader away from the battleground, much to Scyther's respect.
There was a brief silence, before his trainer broke the tension by screaming in delight.
"We did it! We won!"
Her cry of happiness brought the Azurill pack back into the living world. Realization soon turned into an immense joy. They cried in happiness and relief for being able to protect their nest, as they quickly went to Chloe, dancing and jumping around her, much to Scyther's own amusement as he watched how his trainer awkwardly tried to respond to those hyperactives.
Though unknown to anyone but Scyther, what they didn't realize was a glimpse of shadow flying passed them towards the direction where those spinarak were escaping.
Scyther couldn't imagine what fate befalls those crawlers, nor did he care about it anyway. It was just how the law of nature worked, albeit with slightly different circumstances.
"Catching one of them?" Chloe replied at her pokemon, who nodded as Scyther then used his scythe-arms, pointing at those Azurill, especially towards the big one which helped him dealing with Ariados before.
From a distance, they saw something happen between those Azurill. Scyther quickly picked up a few things from their heated conversation. After surviving from the crawler's invasion, the smaller Azurill feared for another one, hence they decided to move to a safer location somewhere else, where they could live with ease. This doesn't sit well on the big Azurill, as she tried convincing her pack to stay, saying that she could protect the nest.
The conversation lasted for minutes before smaller Azurill decided to separate themselves from big Azurill. One by one, those Azurill jumped into the river, following the current while leaving the big Azurill alone, who cried in vivid anger as she could only watched her brethren just literally abandoning her in an empty nest. The lone Azurill cried in frustration, letting out a couple of screams towards the direction where her former brethren were going, as she sobbed alone by herself.
Scyther watched how Chloe quickly ran towards crying Azurill, dropping into her knees as she tried patting her head, which received on resistance from the blue Pokemon. "Hello Azurill, I am sorry for you for experiencing something like this."
Azurill just let out a few sobs while inched closer to Chloe as if seeking some comfort. Scyther watched from beside her trainer, gazing at the interaction between these two while smiling in anticipation. This Azurill showed some potential despite her size disadvantage. Coupled with her strong nature, Scyther wouldn't say no about having her as his teammate.
"Would you like to be my Pokemon?"
Scyther's prediction came to fruition, much to his own delight.
Azurill looked at Chloe with teary eyes, before her expression grew, shook her head to get rid of her tears, then stared at Scyther with a determined look.
"Azu! Azuri!"
Scyther raised his eyes for such an unexpected request, but nonetheless accepted Azurill's challenge. Chloe looked at his pokemon in confusion, wondering about their conversation. "What's going on, Scyther? Did Azurill want to fight you?"
Scyther nodded, as he replied to Chloe with a series of gestures which Chloe picked after processing it due to her inexperience with the mantis pokemon, at least for now.
"So she wants to fight us? Is that right Azurill?"
Azurill nodded while smiling in confidence. She wanted to at least fight to prove herself, and also due to an unspoken rule that she knew about how human trainers mostly did. First fight with the pokemon, then catch them once they are knocked unconscious or weakened enough.
Both Pokemon then quickly took some distance, with Chloe positioned herself behind Scyther.
"Alright, since both of you want this, then let's do it!" Chloe spoke while quickly taking the first command. "Scyther! Quick Attack on Azurill!"
Obeying his trainer's order, once again Scyther's body turned into a blur. Before Azurill could react, the mantis pokemon had already rammed his shoulder straight into her smaller body, as she stumbled backwards while letting out a pained grunt. Azurill retaliated by unleashing a powerful shot of water from her mouth, trying to blast her opponent away and creating some distance.
"Wing Attack! Keep her close!"
Both of Scyther's wings glowing white with energy shines at the wingtips, Using his speed to dodged the incoming torrent of water, Scyther dived at an accelerated pace and swung one of his wings, smashing through Azurill's rear side. The blue Pokemon wasn't given out yet, as it resorted to using her tail as a spring before bouncing up into the air.
Scyther wasn't a fan of letting such a powerful attack succeed, and neither does Chloe.
"Agility following with another Wing Attack! Finish this!"
This time, Scyther's movement was nearly untraceable. He blitzed right into the unexpected Azurill who looked aghast upon seeing the mantis Pokemon literally almost teleported straight into her position.
And the next thing Azurill knew, her vision was filled with nothing but pain. Before she recognized her thought, something bounced into her body, before a flash of light sucked her body away.
It shaked once. Then twice. Before a loud binging sound echoed from the pokeball, signaling the capture was successful.
Scyther smiled at his trainer's happiness, eager to familiarize himself with his newest teammate. Before, he was just a lonely figure, striving to survive. But now, he was fighting for someone, and with comrades he could rely on.
It wasn't so bad after all.
-To Be Continued-
Omake
It was a peaceful morning.
The Swablu were singing.
The grass was humming a happy tune under the caress of the sun. The wind's gentle blow brought a harmony unique to this town with the exquisite harmony of both nature and Pokemon alike. A bit early for most people to start their activities, but at least some early birds were already blooming in their usual routines.
Though Elder didn't have time for enjoying her leisure morning as she stared at the younger girl in front of her.
"Hold on girl, where are you going with that heavy bag?" The Elder spoke with an aging voice befitting her age, eyes roamed on the younger girl's attire with slight confusion. The girl in question smirked as she quickly took a peculiar picture from her massive bag and showed the printed content to the Elder.
"I am going to meet this guy!"
The Elder's eyes twitched, but understood the reasoning behind her sudden departure. "It is because of that peculiar branch of evolution, girl? Didn't I tell you before that you couldn't easily find the owner despite what the news showed before."
Even though the Elder already explained many times, it only renewed the dark-skinned girl's determination of meeting this particular blond man. Something the Elder saw through from the window of the girl's eyes, caused her to sigh in defeat.
"You will leave no matter what I've said," The Elder concluded after accepting the fact that any words would be meaningless. Something which the girl nodded, while tying her long, raven haired into a high ponytail. Although it didn't completely tame the wilderness on her hair. "Do as you wish, girl."
"Thank you for taking care of me after all this time, grannie."
Seeing the Elder already given her consent, the girl bowed her head, before turning back and leaving the aged woman alone on the village's edge. She turned her back once, giving her caretaker a few waving with her hands in a bright smile, until she finally left for real.
Looking at the girl's retreating figure, the Elder couldn't help but begin to reminisce about the past when the girl was still young and brash. The Elder turned her back, about to return back to her house, but not before giving the distant figure of her surrogate granddaughter a longing eyes.
"Good luck with your endeavor, and I wish for the best of your luck, Iris…"
