Witch Hunt - Chapter 2

A/N: Both this story and the next one (To Catch a Thief) are more one-shot collections to cover some of what happened between Good Form and Book 4: Unforgiven.

Many Years Ago

Majo stood in the forest and watched as a chariot was about to pass by.

They quickly put a silencing spell on it and teleported themself into it. An old man and a young woman sat inside it, their hands interlocked although the woman didn't really seem all too happy to be there.

Before either of them could say a word, Majo opened a portal at a beach and sent both through it. Then she sat down where the couple had been seated.

They knew that there was a big chest of gold on the back of this thing and they could buy themselves clothes and drinks for it.

This is what Majo usually did after they found out that they couldn't find out how to get home: Steal from royals who had more than they needed.

A sudden clonk was heard and the chariot stopped. She stepped out of it and came face to face with an archer.

Upon seeing her clothes, the man raised an eyebrow, "There were supposed to be royals in there."

Majo laughed, "Oh there were, they are now enjoying the beach."

The man looked at her in doubt, "Who are you?"

Majo stepped out of the carriage with the bow still pointed towards her, "The name's Majo." They waved their hands and the clothes they had bought here changed to the ones she was wearing when she landed here. She was now wearing dark blue, almost black, throwers, a long-sleeved white shirt, and a light blue vest over it. Her feet were in black boots and her hair was in a bun at the back of her head.

The man lowered the bow slowly, "Robin of Locksley."

The warlock was about to laugh but he seemed sincere and they had noticed that everything here seemed like from fairy tales.

"Well then, Robben, it's nice to meet you."

"Robin. My name is Robin."

That night, Majo hadn't found a place to stay and so she made herself a small camp in the woods and put a magical shield around her. As it grew darker and the fire they had made became smaller, they dozed off to sleep but were promptly woken up by the sound of cursing.

She opened her eyes and saw that Robin Hood had walked into her forcefield.

Majo yawned, "You know, Roan, you could have just asked to see me again. No need to run into my protective spells."

"My name is Robin," he said. "And I was certainly not planning to meet you again."

The warlock shrugged, "You don't have to hide it, I know I'm attractive, Roarke."

"My name-You know what, forget it. I was just looking for a place to make camp when I ran into this barrier of yours."

Majo lifted the barrier and went back to sleep.

Present Day

In the morning, they held Neal's funeral.

Majo watched the coffin being lowered into the earth and listened to the speeches in a daze. It had been centuries since they had been at a proper funeral and they couldn't help but think of the young boy they had met all those years ago at the shores of Neverland.

Blinking, they came back to herself and to the booth she was sitting in with Henry.

"Sorry," she said with a weak smile as the boy looked at her questioning. "It's just…"

"Yeah," he nodded, "I get it. Did you know my father well?"

The warlock nodded, "Before recently, I hadn't seen him since he- since we were kids. I had just started to get to know who he was as an adult and now…"

The two sat in silence.

"Come on, boy," Killian appeared at their side, "Let me show you something."

"What is it?" he asked, sliding out of the booth.

"You'll see."

Killian waved Majo goodbye and led Henry out of the diner only a short while before the door suddenly burst open and a woman holding a wicked dagger appeared. It was Zelena, the redheaded, Wicked Witch of Oz.

"My condolences," Zelena said, "I'm so sorry I missed the funeral but I could never pass up a wake. Oh, did I miss the speeches? Shall I make one? I mean, I am, after all, responsible."

Emma tried to storm forward but was held back by Snow.

"Too many would get hurt."

"Listen to your mother," the witch told her, "She's right. Anyone who tries to interfere with my plan is gonna have to deal with the Dark One."

"Don't come any closer," David warned, standing in front of his pregnant wife protectively.

"Don't worry. I'm not here for your baby. Not today, anyway."

"Then why are you here?" Regina asked the redhead.

"Now that my cover's blown, I can finally pay a visit to my little sister."

"And who is your sister?"

"Why you, of course, Regina," said Zelena.

People around the diner started murmuring.

"What?" asked Emma.

"I'm an only child," the former Queen informed the witch.

"Cora lied to you, Regina. I'm your sister. Half, if you want to get technical."

"Why should I believe anything you say?"

"Oh well, I can't make you. It's a lot to swallow. Which is why I've brought a gift to help.

Regina chuckled, "I don't want a gift from you."

"Oh, but you shall have it. You see, my gift to you is this sad, sad day. Use it to dig into our past, Regina. You need to learn the truth and you must believe it. And then meet me on Main Street tonight. Say, sundown."

"And then what?"

"Then I'll destroy you."

Regina stepped closer to the tall woman, "This isn't the Wild West."

"No, dear, it's the Wicked West."

Majo spent the rest of the day helping David to secure Main Street, before joining the Merry Men in patrolling the forest in case any flying monkeys should try and enter the town.

After the sun had gone down, the inhabitants of Storybrooke were still waiting for Regina to show up.

"If she doesn't get here soon, that witch could take it out on all of us," Tinker Bell said.

"Let's get everyone out of here before that happens," David stepped in front of the crowd. "All right! Listen up! We need you to get back to your homes."

"No one's going anywhere," Zelena interrupted. "This show needs an audience," she strutted forward, "Out of the way, muchkin."

"I'm a dwarf," Sneezy told her.

"That's even worse," she passed him. "Where is she, hmm? Don't tell me, she's a coward," she scoffed. "Well, this isn't good. For any of you. If my sister's not here in five minutes, I'm going to let the Dark One off his leash."

The crowd murmured in fear.

"Time's up. Who do you want to kill first, Rumple?"

"He's not killing anyone," Majo said decidedly. "If you want to fight, fight me."

"Sorry, dear, I don't dance with amateurs."

The warlock scoffed, removing the glamour of their eyes, "I'm not an amateur, honey."

"I don't care what you are," she motioned with the dagger towards Gold and the man lifted his hand to throw Majo backwards.

The warlock simply let blue magic dance in her palms as she flicked her hands to create a protective barrier between the witch and the audience.

"I am the only one you will be fighting tonight," Regina said as she joined them on the street. "Didn't anyone tell you? Black is my colour."

Zelena chuckled, "But it looks so much better on me. I was beginning to think you weren't going to show up."

"Oh, I couldn't let my sister off that easily."

"Ah, so you've finally accepted me into the family?"

"I've accepted that we shared a mother, yes. But I still have one question. What the hell did I ever do to you?"

"Isn't it obvious? You were born."

Regina slapped the witch. "I've been waiting to do that all day."

Zelena chuckled, wiping blood from the corner of her mouth, "Rumplestiltskin can't save you this time. He should have chosen me," she hissed.

"Who?"

"Rumplestiltskin."

"That's what this is about?" Regina asked. "You're jealous of me?" Regina used her magic to try and strike her sister with a traffic light.

The crowd gasped and moved back, Majo moving with them.

"Stay back!" they ordered the onlookers as they watched the sisters fight.

Regina ended up being thrown up into the clock window. Zelena didn't even spare a glance at her audience before she disappeared in a whirl of green smoke to follow her sister.

When they watched the witch fly out of the tower on her broom and Gold disappear, the Charming family went to check up on Regina and Majo let down her defences.

After getting the affirmation that the former Queen was doing fine, she made her way back to Granny's.

They were renting a room there for now and had almost reached it when claws dug themselves into their shoulders.

The warlock was pulled backwards, down the hallway of the inn. Squawking behind her let her know that their magic would be useless against their assaulter and so they tried to run the winged monkey through with one of their blades.

Their dagger was knocked away and as they crashed through the window and lifted off into the sky, she remembered that this could very well be one of the Storybrook inhabitants carrying them through the air. She could not risk killing them.

"Very good, dear," a voice said when Majo was dropped on the ground.

"Zelena," the warlock growled.

The redhead chuckled, "I don't think I ever got your name." At the warlock's silence she added, "Not that it matters," she waved her hand and in a cloud of green smoke, the two of them landed in a dark room.

"I brought you a roommate," the witch said and turned on the light in the cellar.

Majo didn't need the light to see that she was now sharing a cell with Rumplestiltskin.

"Down here, I am the only one who can teleport in or out," Zelena gloated, "And if you even try to escape otherwise," she pulled the Dark One's dagger out, "our friend here will have no choice but to kill you."

"Oh no, I'm a prisoner," Majo deadpanned, "whatever shall I do with this completely new experience?"

They then dropped the act, "Guess you really are Regina's sister. You know, she once held me captive too."

"I don't care about your past with my family."

Majo shrugged, "Then I hope for your sake that you weren't planning on spending any more time down here."

The redhead gave her a confused look.

"See, it all started when Kilian was off on Treasure Island..."

They didn't even get halfway through their rendition of meeting the redhead's mother and sister when the cellar door was slammed shut and Majo sat in the darkness with her cellmate.

"Always works like a charm," they informed their former archnemesis.
