Beatrice's pov
It is the day before my surgery. I sit on the bed . Edward has a day off because of me but I don't know where he has been. Mom and dad are travelling again because of companion . I have to stay with uncle Frank and auntie Claire again.
"Beatrice someone wants to see you." Doctor knocks on the door .
"Come in please ." I look forward to Edward comes in.
The door opens . Edward comes in with a big bundle of rose . I am so surprised . He walks to my bed and kneels down in front of me .
"I never confess to anyone . I just want to say that I love you. I am not going to be that coward anymore . I want you to be mine and I will be yours . I love you." Edward looks at me seriously.
"You never have any ex girlfriends?" I say
"I had one . She is also working for your uncle but that was many years ago . I didn't confess to her . That was her who confessed to me . Please trust me , you are the one who i love the most ." Edward says
I know who she is then. Jessica is the only female body guard beside my uncle . I nod at Edward
"I am willing to be your girlfriend but if I see you have close relationship with her again, I am going to kill you." I tilt my head
He gives me the rose and takes out a box . He opens it . It is a necklace .
"I bought it for you. " he says .
"That's pretty. However I can't wear this now ." I look sad
"You can wear it after surgery" Edward kisses me
I lean on his chest. The door opens again. Uncle and auntie come in. Jessica is with them. I bury my head into Edward's arms
"Don't want to see us ?" Uncle giggles . "Now Edward you have been confessed ."
"Yeah I did. Beatrice is my girlfriend now ." Edward sits down beside me . "She is my girlfriend now ."
"I just don't want to see her on the same shift with Eddie . She is his ex girlfriend ." I point at Jessica
Auntie Clair looks at Jessica . Jessica lowers her head
"We will switch her with other security detail. We don't need her anyway." Uncle spits out the word.
"Please mr underwood ." Jessica is begging.
"I know what you did to Edward . He is my people and you hurt my niece in law ." Uncle is very angry now .
Edward meechum pov
She feels so soft when she is in my arms . I never feel this comfortable before . I kiss her forehead . I love this girl so much. I will never leave her alone
"Beatrice needs a body guard . Edward you can temporarily protect her before they find one for her ." Auntie Claire smiles . "That will be good for you and her ."
"Sure I guess ." I shrug. "I am happy to do that."
Beatrice kisses my cheek. Doctor comes in with a knock.
"Beatrice needs to do a physical check before the surgery. We have to do it now ." Doctor watches her clock.
"Sure , I will help." I put her down flatly on the bed .
Nurse and doctor move her out of the room. I follow beside her bed.
"Don't worry, it will be fine . It just a preparation." I know that I am more sweating than her
"If she didn't consume those alcohol , the surgery will be nothing. However with the influence of alcohol . Now she has 40 percent of dying" doctor looks at me
I am shocked . I grab her hand so tight. I don't want this to happen
"It's fine Edward . I will be fine ." She wipes the sweat off from my forehead
"It's my fault. I didn't know this . It's my fault." I cry. "Please I am begging you."
"We will do as much as we can to save her ." Nurse says . "It's our job."
They push her inside the room to check. I sit down on the chair
"It's okay Edward . Please be patient." Frank underwood sits down beside me
"Why was I so stupid . I didn't realize that she was going to do that." I am scared . "I am scared Mr underwood ."
"Then make up for her . Love her more than you should." Frank underwood pats me on the back
"I will but I can't see her die ." I say
After a 30 minute , she comes out. Doctor sighs with relief
"I take back what I was saying. She is good now so don't worry Edward . Next time don't allow her to drink that much." Doctor shakes his head
"I will not let her to drink anymore ." I say firmly.
"Okay, then wait for her to wake up." Doctor walks away
We get back to room and beatrice is awake .
"How is everything going?" She asks me .
Beatrice pov
Edward told me that everything are going well. I am happy. Edward is with me for whole entire night. Then someone comes in without knocking.
"Edward ?" That is Edward's boss Josh.
"Yes sir ." Edward stands up.
"Mr underwood said that you are going to protect miss underwood from now on right?" Josh says
Edward nods at him. I smile a little . I grab edward's hand
"He is also my boyfriend now ." I say weakly.
"I know that Mr underwood told me . So your place will be replaced temporarily by someone ." Josh smiles . "Take care miss underwood ."
"Thanks ." I sigh.
Josh left and I sit up. I am so hungry. Edward looks at his watch.
"I am going to get you something to drink." Edward kisses my forehead .
"What could you get for her . I made something." Edward's mom comes in. "Guys never know how to take care their sick girlfriend or wife . Especially after they served in military."
"Mom , I was looking for you all the time . You weren't answer the phone call." Edward stands up.
Ms meechum puts down the bowl and she opens it .
"I make some porridge . Chinese girls love porridge ." She smiles at me
"Did Edward had any Chinese girlfriend before ?" I giggle
"No only one , you saw her already." Edward rolls his eyes . "Mom stop it."
Ms meechum laughs so loud . She shakes her head
"I watch on the tv . I also talked to you mom before ." Ms meechum sighs .
"Thanks ms meechum." I smile at her
Edward takes the porridge and sits down . He tries to feed me .
"You are doing good son." Ms meechum nods at him. "Are you now protecting her ."
"Yes I am ." Edward says
After the dinner , I stretch myself . Uncle and auntie come back to see me .
"How are you doing beatrice ?" Auntie Claire looks at me .
"I am fine auntie . I am fine ." I feel lighter now .
"Good." Auntie Claire sits down. "How is Edward doing?"
Edward is nervous now . Uncle is sitting down beside him
"They will be good couples . I trust Edward." Uncle laughs
"Yeah I know that ." Auntie Claire holds my hand . "You were so silly."
"If I am not sick, Edward will never realize that." I say
I feel sad still. I have to hurt myself to get someone that I want.
"I will eventually but that will take me longer ."
Edward meechum's pov
Frank underwood asks me to walk with him while ms underwood talks with beatrice. We walk alongside the lake outside the civic hospital.
"You and beatrice work out well now ." He asks me
"Yes we work out very well." I smile at him. "Thank you for your help."
"You know that she doesn't fit with our jobs . However because of you, she is trying." Frank underwood sighs
I know that beatrice is sacrificing herself for me .
"I didn't want her to do that. Beatrice has a sister right?" I recall that name
"Christina? Yes , she is worse than beatrice . Beatrice original father was a politician and also her grandparent. Her grandpa used to have good relationship with USA before he retired ." Frank underwood nods at me . "She is somewhat talent into this . Christina is now having sexual relationship with Peter Russo . ."
Peter Russo? The senate of Pennsylvania ?
"He is the senate of Pennsylvania ?" I am shocked .
"Yeah he was divorced and drug addicted .i was trying to help him but he doesn't want to be helped . Beatrice has good ability to convince people . I will ask her to try it." Frank underwood stops there
"However she is only 14 ." I feel more difficult now
Frank underwood doesn't say anything. I know that he knows what I mean.
"Sometime younger kid tended to be more persuasive than adult." Frank underwood laughs . "You don't understand it ."
"I know that I don't understand but I don't want beatrice ." I pinch my lips together .
I get back to the room after ten minute . Frank underwood has been trying to talk to beatrice .
"Edward are you okay? You look so pale ." Beatrice hugs me . "It's okay. I can try . I am just going to try."
"I don't want you to get hurt." I kiss her cheek
"I will be fine ." She is comforting me . "I love you."
I let her go sleep early. I look at her . She sleeps like a kitten.
"I don't know did I put you in a worse place or not." I wrap her into my arms
"Don't ever leave me again." She is crying.
"I will never leave you." I say
She wraps her arms around my body. I don't want to touch her when she is so young but I worried that I can't control any longer .
