"Paige and I've been training to be midwives to help Piper with a home birth." Phoebe told Cordelia as they gathered blankets, pillows and towels together and trooped up the stairs to the attic. "What kind of medical knowledge have you gotten?"

"A healer in Ancient Greece showed us alot about triage healing. Our last job involved me being an orderly during a crisis. I've learned to stitch wounds and stabilize broken bones and stuff like that." Cordelia answered.

"All of which might come in handy without our Magic." Phoebe agreed. "We don't have alot of actual medical supplies since very few mortals get injured in the Manor. Leo can heal anything except death."

"And death doesn't really affect me and Xander, given that we're immortal. Our parents assured us that aspect won't change with Magic down and Xander being a were hyena is part of his DNA, so that won't be affected either."

"How did he come to be a were hyena? Was he born that way?"

"No. In High School he tried to stop some bullies from hassling another kid while at the zoo. They accidentally triggered a transpossession ritual a Primal Mage had set up."

"Primal Mage?" Phoebe asked. "Never heard of them."

"They worship the animal state and believe the soul is a corruption. They use a ritual to draw the spirits of animals into themselves in an attempt to destroy their own. Xander and four others were possessed by the animal's spirits. They behaved like animals. Once we realized what was going on, it was reversed. But in Xander's case, a piece of the spirit stayed with him and merged with him, altering him genetically. He didn't know it until his father deliberately triggered it. He wanted it to come out in a controlled circumstance. Once Xander knew about it, it didn't take him long to gain control over the change."

"Sounds like when Piper was affected by a wendigo before we were able to reverse it."

"Probably something similar." Cordelia agreed. A sudden ringing of the doorbell had them tensing. "Demons don't usually bother with doorbells, at least in my experience." Cordelia commented.

"Mine either, but our father would and I just remembered, he's coming for a visit today. We'll have to get rid of him, fast." Phoebe said, heading down the stairs with Cordelia. They could see Xander coming in through the kitchen door with stuff from the garage.

"Dad!" Phoebe said. "Nice to see you, unfortunately now's not a great time. Who's this?"

"This is Doris. My new wife and your new stepmother."

"Oh, boy." Cordelia said.

"Okay, we're going to have to get to know each other later." Phoebe plowed on. "On account of we already have guests staying with us. Dad, this is Cordelia, she and her boyfriend are staying with us for a little while. There's this demonstration." She deliberately pronounced it de-mon-stra-tion, rather then dem-on-stra-tion. "Thing they're helping out with. So why don't you guys go to your hotel room and we'll let you know as soon as it's done?" She could tell by the expression on Victor, her father's face, that he understood what she was saying. Doris frowned at her.

"All right, give us a call as soon you can." He looked concerned as he led Doris away.

"I hate lying." Phoebe said. "And I'm so bad at it."

"Xander and I are the same way. But they'd get in the way. Literally, there just isn't enough space here for so many fighters. And unless your father told her about demons and Magic, she'd have a hard time dealing anyway." Cordelia pointed out.

"You're right and the rest of us can concentrate on fighting and not worrying about them. Worrying about Piper and the baby is going to be enough to deal with." Phoebe was about to head back up stairs when a neighing sound was heard. "Now what?"

"Guys!" Xander called from the kitchen. "The unicorn showed up. There's a tag on its neck, it says it's from the Elders! Didn't whitelighter me in that first reality say they were the bosses of the whitelighters?"

"They are." Phoebe confirmed, as she and Cordelia headed for the kitchen. "Which confirms the theory that the Elders know about the prophecy."

"The only part we haven't confirmed is the three planets thing, but given everything else, I don't see it being necessary." Cordelia offered.

"Probably not." Phoebe agreed, getting a knife out.

"Cordy, can you read him?" Xander asked.

"Read him?" Phoebe asked.

"I've gotten new abilities since the last time we saw you." Cordelia told her. "I can read and project thoughts into animal minds. Which comes in handy with David." She looked at the unicorn for a moment and then shook her head. "Either the fact that he's from a different realm makes him too different, which is unlikely given I can read David and he's part human, especially mentally or my powers are down too. More confirmation."

"Don't really need it at this point. I'm convinced." Phoebe observed, as she scrapped the unicorn's horn and collected the dust in a bowl. "Although it would help me to know if I'm hurting him doing this."

"He doesn't look distressed." Xander pointed out. "Hopefully he's okay with it. I'll take him out to the backyard. Your fence is high enough that your neighbors shouldn't notice. Too bad I can't use the notice me not spell on him. But with Magic down it won't work."

"It will if I use the unicorn horn dust while you say it." Phoebe told him. "Better safe then sorry." And followed him out into the backyard where he tied the unicorn to a tree, giving it access to the grass and leaves. Phoebe sprinkled the dust on it while Xander recited the spell. "I can still see it, what about you?"

"I can still see it. I hope it worked."

"Me too. Well, back to work. Who knows how long we have until they start attacking."
