Richie, Ralph, Potsie, and Darren got onto the bus. They ended up sitting in the middle of the bus, which was not as fun as the back.
"We didn't get the seat we wanted." Potsie said. "I wish I sat back there."
"It's a 1940's bus filled with students from our grade." Darren said.
"Oh my.." Richie said.
"What?" Ralph asked.
"Oh nothing." Richie said. "I'm just excited.. I guess."
"Richard, you don't sound too enthusiastic." Darren said.
"I like when people call me 'Richie'.. Thanks" Richie said.
The bus started to move.
"Here we go!!" Ralph yelled.
"Shut it, Malph." A teacher said.
It's about an hour into the trip, and Richie, Potsie, and Ralph were hearing Daren yapping about elevators.
"And yes, Otis Autotronic is also new. They have cool square buttons where you touch them without clicking." Darren said, enthusiastically.
Whispering to Richie* "Why do we have to hear this kid yapping about escalators or something?" Potsie said, annoyed and bored.
"Hello?" Darren asked the group.
"Oh yea, we know." Richie said.
"Hmm.. What kind of buttons do Autotronic's have then?" Darren asked Richie.
"Oh.. Um." Richie said to Darren. "The triangle buttons?"
"No! It's a-" Darren said, as Ralph cut him off.
"Oh wow! It's a water tower!" Ralph said, trying to change the subject.
Darren didn't even know Ralph was trying to change the subject.
"Oh man! That looks like an old crank on an Otis manually controlled elevator from the 19-" Darren tried to say, but the group interrupted.
"WOW! NICE CAR OUT THERE!" Richie, Ralph, and Potsie yelled out. They just tried to interrupt Darren.
After the bus arrived at the hotel, everybody un-boarded the bus. They all walked into the lobby, where the school grade was checked in.
"We are 1215, right sir?" Potsie asked the teacher.
"Weber, I'd expect people to know better.. But you're a Potsie." The teacher said to Potsie. "Yes, it's 1215."
Potsie walked back to the group.
"Yea, 1215." Potsie said.
"Thats good." Richie said. "How are they going to manage the elevators.. With all the kids?"
"Select-O-Matic elevators have a system in the lobby to show people what floors the elevators are on, meaning they can tell if you exit on another floor." Darren said.
"The one time he's helpful..." Ralph said.
"True, Haha." Potsie said. "I never knew somebody could know so much about elevators."
The teacher began preaching.
"Remember, 12th floor. We have a screen to show where you are. Do not exit on any other floors!" The teacher yelled out.
"What if somebody presses the button outside the elevator, and it stops on a floor?" Potsie asked the teacher.
"Ask Darren." The teacher said, firmly.
Potsie asked Daren the same question.
"In a hotel, people only go from the lobby, to a floor. I don't think anyone would want to go from 5 to 7 or something. Also, you're talking about a call station, or hall button. It calls the elevator!" Darren said.
"Call the elevator?" Ralph said. "Ring, Elevator come up here! I need to ride you! Haha, I still got it. Even in a hotel!"
"Ralph, you made it sound weird!" Potsie said.
The teacher caught somebody exiting on floor 10.
"HEY! STOP THAT GROUP!" The teacher yelled, and pointed at the screen.
"Good luck to them." Darren said. "I wonder what will happen; Take a look at them."
The assistant teacher had 2 girls and 2 boys, all looking dissatisfied at each other.
"Aha, Look what we have here." The teacher said. "Some hotel-escaping-people!"
"We're calling your parents to come pick you up." The assistant teacher said.
The assistant teacher took them into a small office next to the elevator bank, and were never seen again by the group.
"They did that pretty quick.." Richie said.
"And firmly." Potsie said.
"You don't know anything about firm!" Ralph said.
"Oh I know everything about that!"
"No you don't! You can never get a chick!"
"Woah. We're talking about that?"
"Noooo! We are talking about going to Arnold's and stealing peoples food."
"Whatever, Ralph."
"Can we stop arguing.. Please?" Richie said.
"I'm just gonna listen..." Darren said.
