A/N: Not only do I wanna dedicate this National Hug Day fic to KagamiPINKAgreste and elijahhedgemond, but I'd like to dedicate it to my new friend Starlight Emiko, who - in addition to KagamiPINKAgreste - has been instrumental in keeping me sane during some difficult weeks at work. As always, enjoy!
It was a cold winter's day in Musutafu City, but Luka Couffaine was keeping warm on the family houseboat by playing one of his various guitars, this one a black-and-white Fender Stratocaster with pickups from a Gibson Flying V. For amplification, he was running it through a combination of a Marshall JMP 2203 and a MESA/Boogie Mark II. He was glad that he had an amp with master volume capabilities, because he could shred the heck out without causing a huge ruckus. He wasn't shredding anything in particular, just vague Iron-Maiden-esque riffs. Despite the heaviness of the riffs, the amps were set low enough that he could still hear knocking on his door.
"Coming!"
Luka headed to the door, and when he opened it, he found Marinette Dupain-Cheng standing there.
"Hey Luka!" Marinette waved at Luka.
"Ah, hello Marinette! Please, come on in!"
Luka closed the door behind Marinette, and they sat down on his bed.
"So, what brings you here, Love Song?"
Marinette giggled. "Oh, no reason! I just found out about this great holiday and I wanted to celebrate with you!"
Luka scratched his temple. "Heh, I wasn't aware there were any holidays today. So tell me, what is today?"
Marinette giggled some more. "It's National Hug Day!"
Luka smiled. "Let me guess, you came here because you wanted to give me a hug?"
Marinette giggled even more. "Of course, silly!"
"Well then I gladly accept."
Luka and Marinette gave each other a big hug. While usually better at expressing his emotions through his music, the aqua-haired boy was quite the people reader, and he could tell, deep down inside, that she was a good person, but in serious need of someone to set her on the right path. Besides the fact that he liked her sweet, helpful, girly attitude, he thought she was the most beautiful girl he'd ever met, and he considered himself the luckiest guy on Earth to have met her. Even if she wasn't the softest or most cuddly girl he'd ever held, she was the warmest, no doubt, and aside from that, she was also a quick learner. He also really loved the sweets she baked. In fact, it was partly because of this that he considered her the sweetest girl he'd ever met.
Marinette considered Luka a big sweetie, too. After years of having it rough in school, being bullied by Chloé Bourgeois and dealing with her own insecurities and clumisiness, it was a great relief for her to find a guy with whom she was truly and deeply in love with. Sure, Adrien Agreste was a dreamboat, but when she came to know this aqua-haired Casanova, she discovered how much better he was for her than the blond, green-eyed kitty she'd obsessed over. Besides, she loved learning and playing music with this guy. Truly, he took the song within her heart and turned it into a symphony. Even if he wasn't the strongest, toughest guy on this planet, she didn't need him to be; she could tell by the way he held her that he was strong enough to stand up for her. Eventually, she let go, but not without leaving smiles on both of their faces.
"Thank you for letting me do this, Luka!"
"You're welcome, Marinette! Mind if I have another?"
"You can, but on one condition…"
"Yes?"
"Please, let me lie down in your lap."
"OK!"
Marinette gave Luka another hug. Even if this one didn't last as long, it felt just as good. Then, Marinette proceeded to lie down in Luka's lap.
"Luka, you're the best."
"So are you, my cute little Love Song."
Luka gently stroked Marinette's blunette hair as she lied down in his lap, thinking about how magical the world was.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
