After waking up in the hospital, Davis learned what he missed from Tai and Kari. Furious with them and worried about his digimon partner, Davis snuck out of the hospital and tried to get back to the Digital World. When he did, trouble soon found him. A DarkTyrannomon emerged in the middle of the street with a mysterious figure riding on top of it.

"What's going on now?" Davis said as he didn't like this. That was when the lady in the dark robe showed herself as she lowered her hood and showed her face with having pale skin with long black hair, but still looked rather pretty.

"Davis Motomiya, I presume." The lady said.

"Who are you?" Davis questioned.

"I wouldn't be too worried about that right now." The woman said. "You don't look so good. Must be from Alphamon. You and your friends were left alive, but we didn't put much effort into your medical needs."

"What?! Are you the one behind what happened to me and my friends?!" Davis said as he found someone to direct his anger at. He wanted to do something, but his body wasn't at one-hundred percent just yet.

"Even if you are at your best, you humans are useless without your digimon to fight your battles for you." The woman said. She snapped her fingers and that was all it took for DarkTyrannomon to attack. It swung its giant claw at him, but Davis moved quickly. Davis got out of there as best as he could as DarkTyrannomon's claw smashed against the ground with Davis falling down. DarkTyrannomon continued its rampage as it breathed out fire. Davis tried his best to move away from the danger and was causing damage.

"What are you doing?!" Davis said.

"Getting rid of you. Isn't that obvious?" The woman mocked. "It is time this world has come to an end. With how weak and powerless this world is, it's practically asking to be destroyed."

"Not if I can help it." Davis said as he wasn't backing down from a fight.

"How do you plan to fight without the aid of your digimon partner?" The woman said. She had a point there. Davis can't fight DarkTyrannomon with just his hands, but he doesn't have Veemon to help him out. "Just as I thought. You humans are completely helpless without your digimon to help you."

"You know about me. Does that mean you know about Veemon?" Davis said. "If you know where he is, you've got to tell me!" He demanded for answers, but the woman wasn't giving any. All she did was have was have DarkTyrannomon stomp on the ground. The sheer shaking from that stomp knocked Davis off his feet.

"You are helpless. You are just taking up space." The woman said with a dark look on her face. "Humans might grant digimon power, but what do humans get out of it? They might hold a symbiotic relationship, but digimon are constantly evolving while you humans can't. Without the power digimon to help you, there is nothing you can really do."

"I'm not done!" Davis said, but there wasn't much he could really do. His body isn't in the best shape, and he doesn't really have anything to fight with.

"All things in this world was formed from nothing and darkness. That is where you will return." The woman said. She had DarkTyrannomon attack him once more and he won't be able to clear out of the way this time. DarkTyrannomon swung its claw and it seemed like Davis is finished. Just then, in the split of a second, someone came and helped him out. His trusted partner showed and helped him.

"V-Headbutt!" His partner ran across DarkTyrannomon's arm and smashed his head right into DarkTyrannomon's face to knock him away from Davis. After that, Veemon jumped down and went to Davis.

"You okay, Davis?" Veemon questioned.

"Veemon?" Davis said to make sure it was him, and it really was. "Veemon!" He called as he was so happy to see him. It also looks like that Veemon still remembers Davis and is still the same loveable creature that Davis knows. "I was worried what might have happened to you. Are you okay?"

"I will be once I get some chocolate." Veemon said.

"Yep. You're fine." Davis said. As glad as the two were to see each other again, their little reunion will have to wait. They saw DarkTyrannomon coming back. "Veemon, you think you're up for a fight?"

"Always. Let's take it to them." Veemon said. That was when Davis pulled out his D3 and showed what happens when humans and digimon combine their power.

"Veemon digivolve to...ExVeemon!"

Once Veemon digivolved to Ex-Veemon, he went on the attack. He flew right at DarkTyrannomon and gave him a powerful uppercut. When that happened, the woman jumped off and landed right on the ground. Ex-Veemon kept fighting off DarkTyrannomon as he kept throwing one punch after another, but DarkTyrannomon kept bouncing back.

"Davis, something is off with DarkTyrannomon. He seems stronger than usual." ExVeemon warned.

"How can that be?" Davis questioned. Something about this seemed off, but there wasn't much time to figure that out. DarkTyrannomon smashed into ExVeemon and was pushing him back. Ex-Veemon managed to stand his ground and tossed him off.

"V-Laser!" ExVeemon unleashed a powerful laser form his chest and blasted DarkTyrannomon. DarkTyrannomon was pushed back, but it was able to push the through the laser and kept fighting. Davis didn't like how this was going. He better figure something out or they might be in trouble with this.

...

The Hosptial

"Kari, any sign of him?!" Tai asked.

"No. I can't believe he actually left like this." Kari said. The two of them were searching around the hospital for Davis once they realized he was gone, but there was no sign of him anywhere.

"And it might be my fault." Tai said as he was starting to blame himself. That was when Tai's phone started to go off and saw it was Izzy. "Hey, Izzy. Now is not the time for this."

"Tai, are you anywhere near a television or something? You need to see what is happening on the news." Izzy said.

"Izzy, I'm at the hospital. Kari and I were paying Davis and the others a visit." Tai reminded.

"Two digimon have been spotted fighting, and one of them is ExVeemon!" Izzy said.

"What?!" Tai said. "Well, now we know where Davis is." He told Kari. "Izzy, tell me where it's happening. Kari and I will go and check it out." They just got their friend back. They weren't planning to lose him already.

"Wait..." The two of them turned around and were surprised to see who else was back.

The Streets

ExVeemon kept trying to fight off DarkTyrannomon, but this particular one seemed to be tougher than usual. It was almost like ExVeemon's attacks weren't even working. ExVeemon kept smashing his fists against the beast, but that black dinosaur was a durable one. DarkTyrannomon swung its claw at him and was able to smash ExVeemon against a building.

"Hang in there, pal!" Davis cheered.

"Cheering will not change the outcome." Davis turned around to the mysterious woman, but that was when she grabbed him by the neck and pushed him against the ground and tried to make it difficult for him to breathe.

"Davis!" ExVeemon called, but was distracted. DarkTyrannomon smashed himself against ExVeemon again. It even crunched down on his shoulder and caused severe pain for ExVeemon.

"Without your digimon, you are just a weak human who can't do anything on your own." The woman said as she was able to hold Davis down with just her hand on his neck.

"You freaky chick... Get off!" Davis demanded as he tried to pull her off, but she was tougher than she looked.

"Now to return to the darkness." The woman said as it seemed like she was actually going to kill him and ExVeemon can't do anything to help him.

"Spiking Strike!" That was when help has finally arrived. Another digimon came flying in and gave DarkTyrannomon a powerful sting. That gave ExVeemon an opening as he smashed his fist against DarkTyrannomon and knocked it away.

"Stingmon?!" ExVeemon said as he was surprised to see him.

"And I didn't come alone." Stingmon said. That's when two other digimon came in to help and it was none other than two other friends: Aquilamon and Ankylomon.

"Grand Horn!"

"Tail Hammer!" The two of them charged right at DarkTyrannomon and smashed their own attacks against DarkTyrannomon. As for Davis, he was still in trouble as that woman tried to strangle him.

"Get off him!" That was when Gatomon jumped in and saved him as she smashed her paw against the woman and knocked her right off Davis. As he tried to catch his breath, he looked and was amazed to see his other digimon friends there to help him out. If they're here, it can only mean one thing.

"Davis! Over here!" Davis turned around and saw Tai and Kari were back with Agumon and Gatomon, but there were others. Davis could see that Ken, Cody, and Yolei were back on their feet again. They might not be in better shape than Davis, but the fact that they were awake and moving was a good sign.

"Ken! Yolei! Cody! You guys are back!" Davis said. "Wait. Should you really be here?"

"You're one to talk. Look at you." Yolei said.

"And why should you have all the fun?" Ken said.

"We also couldn't stand by and do nothing knowing you might need our help." Cody said.

"The gang is back together." Gatomon said.

"And now the team is whole again." Agumon said.

"Enough talk! Let's get straight to the action!" Yolei called.

"You got it!" Aquilamon agreed as he flew right at DarkTyrannomon and smashed his horns against the beast, but he knocked it away. Ankylomon helped out as he tackled DarkTyrannomon and Stingmon unleashed a barrage of kicks right in the head. ExVeemon got himself back in the fight as he flew in and gave DarkTyrannomon a powerful strike.

"I'm ready, Tai!" Agumon said as he wanted to join the fight.

"Same here, Kari." Gatomon said.

"Hold up. Let's keep our eyes on her." Tai said as he was cautious of that woman. The other four digimon kept trying to attack DarkTyrannomon, but he wasn't going down easy.

"DarkTyrannomon keeps taking all the attacks." Kari said as the way DarkTyrannomon was acting seemed familiar. "Oh no! Don't tell me it's infected! I don't understand! If Meicoomon was the cause, why is it still around?" This seemed very strange and that meant that they might not have needed to destroy Meicoomon. A sacrifice like that might not have been needed to made.

"It's similar, but different. The virus has been altered." The woman claimed. "Meicoomon was just a piece, a sacrificial pawn to be aided in the destruction of this unneeded world." Tai and Kari didn't like how she worded that, but the fight went on. Attacking together and needing to finish this fight, the four digimon attacked. Stingmon and Ankylomon attacked together as they both struck DarkTyrannomon as hard as they could. Once they did that, Aquilamon and ExVeemon attacked by blasting DarkTyrannomon with much power. That seemed to have finished it as DarkTyrannomon collapsed and didn't appear to be getting back up.

"He's down!" Yolei announced like a wrestling MC.

"Now let's open up a gate and send DarkTyrannomon home." Cody said.

"Wait. We can't send DarkTyrannomon back if it's really infected." Tai said.

"Not something you should concern yourself with now. It's not needed now that you all have your digimon again." The woman said. All she did was snap her fingers and that caused DarkTyrannomon to burst into data. That gave all of them a good scare as to how she did that.

"She... She just destroyed it..." Yolei said.

"How did she do that by just snapping her fingers?!" Ken said.

"Back to nothing and darkness with him." The woman said.

"You witch!" Davis called.

"I had planned to get rid of you before your team was whole, but now it can't be done." The woman said. "Circumstances aside, you just proved to me that you humans really are helpless without your digimon. Soon, you will all fall to darkness and return to the nothing all life came from."

"That's crazy! What is she even talking about?!" Agumon said.

"I don't know. She just kept spouting that crazy stuff." Davis said.

"Who are you?!" Tai called.

"Were you the one behind all that really happened?! Was it never really Meicoomon's fault?!" Kari said. "Do you not know what happened because of all that?! Do you not know about how much Meiko and Meicoomon suffered because of that?!"

"There is only one thing that you must know and that is my identity." The woman said. "I go by Athena, named after a goddess of your world. A being that represents actual power, and not what you humans hold. That is really all you need to know." She reached up to her face and felt the scratch that Gatomon left, and the stinging sensation from it didn't really bother her. "You digidestined might have fought for both worlds, but I soon learned that it was a pointless struggle. The true destiny of both worlds is to fall back to the void in which all of existence came from, and that's what will happen." That was when a warp opened up behind Athena and she tried to make her escape.

"Wait! Stop! What are you even talking about?!" Tai called, but she just ignored him and walked right through the warp with her vanishing. Whoever she is, she left quite a lasting impression on the mall. It looks like things have been left unfinished after what happened with Meicoomon. They're work isn't done yet.

"Any idea what that was even about?" Yolei questioned.

"There's...a lot to tell you guys. You missed out on a lot." Tai said. "It looks like things aren't over just yet, and we might need your help."

"We're in. Right, Davis?" ExVeemon said as the four digimon stood together. Davis might be upset with Tai and the others, but this does sound like a serious situation that could affect both worlds. Now that he's got his partner back, he and the others can get back to action.

"Yeah. We'll get her." Davis said as the team feels whole again. It's now a fully completed reunion.
