Set it Off

"As you remember, after we could purify Cardmon from the L-Virus, he joined us just like Messemon, but this was still the beginning."

Haru: Would you explain to me how your world is?

Gene: Of Course, it is a great city where I come from. Is wonderful, mysterious, even magical.

Edy (With starry eyes): Really?

Gene (With an awkward expression): Well, not that magical

Edy (A little disappointed): Aw, Ok.

Gatchmon: This is not an accurate description of what you think of your world.

Hi-Five: But that is how it goes to us and we like it.

Jailbreak: We come from a smartphone.

Gatchmon (Deadpan): That is not a surprise

Gene: As I said, we, the emojis, are the biggest communication invention, we are the biggest representatives of the texting and the simplicity

Haru: Sounds a little ordinary

Gene: In Textopolis, there are many places to visit, despite how their citizens are.

Gatchmon: Well, that sounds redundant

Gene: As I was saying all emojis in Textopolis are special in different ways, we have many forms, many feelings, many lifestyles and one job being the special messengers in your phones. Not everything is great since we have changed into this form and became "Emojimons"

Edy: What happened? I know when you became Appmons you were targeted but why that sudden interest in all of you?

Jailbreak: We don't know either, there has to be a connection

Hi-Five (pointing): Hey! We have arrived!

Gene: To what is left of our homeworld

As you can imagine, Textopolis was destroyed, everything is in flames, many buildings are destroyed, there was no trace of the virus that attacked, there was no one.

Haru: This is your homeworld?

Jailbreak: Yes, and it looks worse than what we thought.

Hi-Five: There is someone over there (pointing over a small masked Appmon with a blue shawl)

Gatchmon (checks with his magnifying glass): That must be… a Setup Appmon named Setmon

Appli: Setup

Setmon looked nervous for what happened

Setmon: What is this place? Why does it look like this?

Gene: Um, excuse me?

Setmon: I mean, why does this look destroyed, what happened, what just happened and- Wait; Who are you?!

Gene: Hi I am Gene and I am an Emojimon, though not at the beginning

Setmon (shocked): What?!

Gatchmon: Well it is a bit complicated, but anyways, I am Gatchmon and I am a Search Engine Appmon and (Points to Haru) this is my buddy Haru

Haru: Hi

Emojimon: And this is my new buddy Edy

Edy: Hello

Setmon: Wait, so that means you are Applidrivers?

Haru: Yes, but we are a bit new on this

Setmon: Good, because I need some help in finding out what just happened. I don't think I've seen this place, and this looks pretty messed up.

Jailbreak: We are trying to find some clues as well.

Hi-Five: Our home, just destroyed like that, some mysterious terrorists attacked us for no reason and some virus appeared and then everything went insane.

Setmon: When you make it sound like this, it means it had to be Leviathan's minions!

Everyone else: Leviathan's minions?! (Gatchmon freezes up again, but Haru unfreezes him)

Setmon: Yes, that final boss AI, they are recruiting or forcing other Appmons to join them, the biggest clue you said is that virus you mentioned, though those who attacked you must be Appmons who work with Leviathan at their own will!

Gatchmon: Do you mean the L-Virus and the real minions? (Setmon nods, Gatchmon turns to the former Emojis) So that means Leviathan really has eyes for you guys as well, that means you have to be careful.

Edy: Wait, we can fight as well.

Gatchmon: How? Most of the town has been destroyed.

Edy: There must be at least one survivor.

(Edy runs to the town that has gone in flames, his new Buddy Appmon and the other former Emoji follow him)

Gatchmon: A bit reckless, indeed?

Haru: Yeah, but I can't blame them, we haven't seen anyone else aside from Setmon, we have to check if someone is okay.

(Haru and Gatchmon follow them though Setmon is still right then checking, very nervously)

Setmon: Oh, those little human boys, If I can have more power I could be stronger and, wait, what was that?

(Setmon checks and finds out something came out from the fake sewers, but there in no one in sight, until that figure is behind Setmon and sprays something unusual.)

?: Vi, Vi, Vi

Setmon: What? Who, Wait, No! ¡No!

(Meanwhile in the real world, some sightings from the Bad Messages and the Card Games Glitches are being showed in some screens, as well some traffic accidents, terrorist attacks in middle of those moments, robberies, murders, people being taken to the hospital, among other things and a mysterious woman is thinking too loud)

?: The times, just like certain creatures or artificial intelligences evolve at an accelerated rate. commonplace values become things of the past in no time, just as some things we used to have, the window that appears in front us gets stronger in no time that no one can control it anymore. Sounds like a pain, indeed.

(In the same place, another mysterious being is seen overhearing)

?: Well, it looks like we can agree on something, after all, you are all human, shi. (Disappears)

(Back in the ruined Textopolis, the Applidrivers have checked the entire town but there are no survivors)

Edy: Why are there no survivors? We searched everywhere and there is no one!

Jailbreak: Probably they have managed to escape or else, the worst outcome is that they could be controlled by the L-Virus.

Edy: Why must most peaceful cities end like this, why?

Gene: Look I am upset and sad for our families and friends, but why do you look so sad?

Edy: Well, (He is remembering some trauma from his past) is a bit complicated but the point is that it is awful, that some good places have to be destroyed.

Gene: Yeah, that seems awful, though this is not the first time

Edy: Wait, what happened before?

Gene: Well, the truth is that…

(Suddenly around them is Setmon)

Setmon: You are responsible for your own demise

Gene: Huh? (Gasps as he looks Setmon right now)

Setmon is now infected thanks to the L-Virus

Hi-Five: But what happened to him?

Jailbreak: He has been infected, I guess there was a leak of L-Virus remaining in Textopolis

Gatchmon: I guess there is no choice, (runs to battle Setmon) Haru!

Haru: Yes! (His Applidrive shines and the text input appears, Haru starts typing)

Edy: What do you mean Gene was responsible for his own demise?

Setmon: I mean the fact that he almost doomed everyone due to the fact he was different, he is the son of two "meh" emojis, however he was different from them, due to the fact he can do more than just one face. (Gene, Hi-Five and Jailbreak are shocked about Gene's secret)

Jailbreak: How do you know that?

Setmon: I was told just some minutes ago (Everyone realizes that it could be after he got infected) anyways, his first day as an emoji turned out to be a disaster, not for just him, but everyone as well, he tried to change that alongside other two outcast emojis, but in the end, he decided to remain as an anomaly between them!

Gene (getting angry): Hey! I am not an anomaly!

Setmon: Yes, you are! Or, what about the fact you are different of the other emojis or the other Appmon? The point is more than clear that you are an outcast, a freak, a demon, (Gene is getting angrier due to the fact that even an infected Appmon is discriminating him for his peculiarity even if he is making clear points that it could be his fault; but being called out that way is unnaceptable for him, his knuckles are starting to shine, Hi-Five is noticing that) probably that is the reason Leviathan is interested in you, thanks to the fact you could be as them, an AI Final Boss or in other words, someone who shouldn't be in this world or any other, because you are a monster!

Gene (In an angry red face): SHUT UP! (He launches the special attack that goes to Setmon, but he dodges and is heading towards Gatchmon as he finally ends his search, fortunately Jailbreak saves him in time, and both narrowly avoid the attack, as they look in shock how fearsome can be Gene, Haru also manages to avoid the attack and it strikes against a building, making it explode)

(Gene tries to seek for Setmon, but Setmon attacks him from behind and knocks him out)

Setmon: But don't worry I will fix and set up your worries. Quick Setup! (Gene suffers a bit then he manages to escape, but still trips and falls)

Edy: Gene!

Gene (stands up though a bit weak): You don't have any idea who I am, it's true I made a mistake before and I didn't realize how much it was going to affect everyone, I left the town, I met Hi-Five and Jailbreak, I wanted to be a normal emoji like everyone else! But still even if I turned into a normal meh, due to a heartbreak, Smiler wanted to delete me, probably if my parents and my friends didn't save me back then, then…

Edy (watching Gene suffering and doesn't want him to suffer anymore): You just wanted your own place?

Gene: Edy?

Edy: I know how it feels, I also have a secret, to be honest I hate my reality as well, I am not able to talk about it, it is bitter, but I don´t think your a monster, at least not an evil one, don't worry I can protect you if I want, after all I made a promise to you! Until then (He smiles to Gene) we are buddies! And buddies protect each other! And make each other stronger! (Gene smiles for that, now Edy turns to Setmon) Setmon! I don't know who told you about Gene's past but you are probably seeing it from one side! You haven't checked Gene's side of the story! So until then, you shouldn't criticize or hurt him for that! I won't allow you!

Haru (amazed): He is acting like a main character right now, just when (remembers when he stood up for Gatchmon when he was attacked by the infected Messemon)

(Edy's Applidirve shines and is showing an emoji bar)

Edy: What's this?

Gatchmon: Use it! This could help Gene get stronger!

Edy: Ok! (He chooses among different emojis and picks the smiley face)

Gene (Suddenly gets healed, smiles and shines): I feel better!

Setmon: What is happening?!

Gene: Pretty good attack Setmon, now is my turn! (He becomes faster)

(Gene evades every single one of Setmon's attacks and then jumps and has summoned a yellow light sphere in the palm of his left hand)

Gene: Be purified of your own demise! Emoji Shiner! (Throws the sphere towards Setmon making him expel the L-Virus out of him, In 3,2,1, the virus explodes and purifies Setmon)

(Everyone is surprised but also happy that Gene managed to save Setmon)

Setmon (now purified back to normal): I feel so refreshed, it looks like any setup inside of me has been repaired and finished for tomorrow. (He now goes towards Edy's Applidrive and now back as a chip with Setmon's picture)

Edy: You did it, Gene! You saved Setmon! Yes, but this is not all, I feel better thanks to you, Edy, thank you. (Drops a tear of happiness)

(Suddenly clouds of rain appear and are raining toward Textopolis, Extinguishing the flames and all the L-Virus that remained in the town, soon the clouds go away and the sun appears, making a rainbow appear.)

Gene: Did I just did that?

Hi-Five: Yes, and it was amazing! Your power flowing through you, I hope I can do that too, it can be great!

Jailbreak: Looks that there are more mysteries in Gene that i thought.

(Rei and Hackmon are in the town as well, and secretly watched everything)

Hackmon (in a serious tone): It seems that he is really powerful.

Rei (still stoic as ever): Yes, but he is also very dangerous, sooner or later that power is going to destroy him or everywhere else, which makes him even weaker when it comes to being straight whenever there is a battle, let's get out of here Hackmon.

Hackmon: Yes

(Rei and Hackmon leave, but Jailbreak, even if she hasn't heard them, she noticed they weren't totally alone, but she was wondering who was there right now, meanwhile Edy appliarised Setmon again and he is a bit dizzy)

Setmon (dizzy): What just happened?

Gatchmon: You were infected by the L-Virus but don't worry, Gene has purified you back to normal.

Setmon: What? But how? Wait, It was that figure who did that to me.

(Everyone is confused)

Hi-Five: Figure? What do you mean?

Setmon: It means somebody infected me before I could turn around to see who did it

Jailbreak: It has been one of Leviathan's minions

Setmon: I was totally careless, I was focused on solving what happened to Textopolis that I got careless and attacked you, I am sorry.

Messemon (smiley green face; in Haru's band): Don't worry, you are not the only one who has been infected

Cardmon (in Edy's band): When you get infected by the L-Virus, it makes you do crazy things without realizing

Hi-Five: Though you guys don't seem totally regretful for your actions

Jailbreak: It's because it wasn't entirely their fault, it was Leviathan's fault for infecting them in the first place

Messemon (sad blue face): That L-Virus, I don't want to be infected again, that thing is dangerous

Gatchmon: Yes, we should be careful from now on, who knows when another attack happens

Setmon: Wait, I am picking some readings, finally, wait, it seems that there was nobody hurt or infected in this area

(This surprises everyone)

Gene: Then it means, that the others could escape (smiles with relief) that is good

Edy: But where are they and what happened to them?

Gene: We will find them soon or they could find us, anyway not everything is lost after all

Edy: Yes, there is still hope to save them

Haru: Looks like everything is ending good for now

Gatchmon: Yes, but that leaves for more questions, for who rescued them, why Leviathan is interested in them and what's exactly Edy's past because it seems that he really hates the reality he lives

Haru: Well, we can find out later, it seems everything seems smoothly

(Edy relieved, closes his eyes for a bit and then opens again and is shown there are shining light blue in the left eye and light green in the right eye, but then closes his eyes again and then opens his eyes again and are back to normal)

(Meanwhile back in the mysterious man's hideout)

Man (watching everything in his laptop, what just happened with Gene): Well, it looks the little Emojimon is blossoming his powers, good, it makes thing even interesting (is having an evil grin)

Finally back after, all this time
