May 21st, 1821...Arendelle Castle...Evening
~Iduna's POV~
I stood in front of the fireplace, anxiously rubbing my hands over my small, 2 months pregnant stomach as I waited for Agnarr to join me in our chambers. I had told him earlier in the day that I needed to tell him something, but that I wanted to do it in private, just the two of us. Now as you can imagine, throughout every one of the 9 years that we had known and loved each other, we had told each other many things. This was bigger, though, so much bigger than either of us could have imagined. What I had to to tell him today would change both of our lives...forever. After all, it wasn't everyday I would get to tell my husband that he was going to be a father for the first time.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he came in, took me in his arms, spun me around and dipped me, placing a sweet kiss on my lips before standing me upright again. I laid my hands against his chest, returned the kiss and smiled, a small laugh escaping my lips.
"Well, someone's in a good mood."
"And why shouldn't I be," he asked "when I get to wake up every morning with the most beautiful woman in the world by my side? Nothing could mean more to me than this, just the two us, right here, right now."
I couldn't help but smile as he spoke. This was it. I had to tell him. I just couldn't keep it to myself any longer.
"Darling, do you remember your birthday 2 months ago, when we were so overcome with desire for one another, that we spent the whole night...you know?" I gave him a sly wink.
A wicked grin spread across his face. "Oh I remember, my love. I remember every little detail of that night. Why do you ask?"
"Just close your eyes." I whispered in his ear. I could tell this had piqued his curiosity, but he did as he was told. I turned around, so that my back was now flush against his chest. I took his hands in my own, and laid them on my stomach, placing my hands on top of his.
"Now?" he asked. I paused briefly before tilting my head up, once again whispering in his ear. "Alright, now."
He opened them, and I immediately heard a breath hitch in his throat, clearly taken aback by what he saw. He slowly turned me around, so that I was once again tight in his embrace. He gazed down at me, his green eyes and my blue eyes instantly connecting, like two pieces of a puzzle.
A huge smile spread across his face, and he was unable to stop the tears of joy from flowing freely from his eyes. I knew how he felt, that he couldn't believe this was really happening, that he was actually going to be someone's father, someone's papa!
"Iduna, are you really...? Are we really...having a baby?"
I nodded, unshed tears now welling up in my own eyes. "I really am. We really are. Seven months from now, we'll be holding our sweet little prince or princess." By now, I was no longer able to stop the tears from rolling down my own face.
He smiled, cupping my face in his warm, strong hands; hands that would one day soon be cradling our new son or daughter, our kingdom's new little prince or princess. I smiled back, both of us blinking back tears, as he pulled me in for a kiss. As our lips parted, we leaned in, our foreheads touching.
"I love you, my dearest Agnarr."
"And I you, my darling Iduna."
As we cuddled up in bed together later that night, he wrapped one of his arms tightly around my waist, laying a protective hand on my stomach, on our child. I smiled, beginning to realize just how loved this little baby already was, and he or she wasn't even born yet. We kissed each other once more before turning out the lights, and as sleep slowly overtook us, we began to dream of this new life, this new little prince or princess we would soon be welcoming into this world, into this kingdom, and into our hearts.
~Agnarr's POV~
I could tell Iduna had something on her mind as soon as I walked in the room, and that whatever it was, she was anxious to tell me. After spinning her, dipping her, and placing the sweetest of kisses on her soft lips, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close to me. She laid her hands against my chest, looking up at me with those brilliant blue eyes; eyes I could never in a million years tire of looking into, of getting utterly lost in.
At last, she spoke. "Darling, do you remember your birthday 2 months ago, when we were so overcome with desire for one another, that we spent the whole night...you know?" She blushed, giving me a sly wink.
A wicked grin spread across my face. "Oh I remember, my love. I remember every little detail of that night. Why do you ask?"
She then did something I will never forget as long as I live. "Close your eyes." she whispered in my ear. By now, my curiousity was piqued, but I did as I was told. I felt her body turn, her back now flush against my chest. She took my hands in her own, and laid them on something, but I couldn't quite tell what.
"Now?" I asked. She paused briefly before tilting her head up, and again whispering in my ear. "Alright, now."
I opened them, and what I saw quite literally took my breath away. I saw my hands resting on my wife's stomach, and her hands resting on top of mine. I slowly turned her around, so that she was once again tight in my embrace. I gazed down at her, her blue eyes and my green eyes instantly connecting, like two pieces of a puzzle.
A huge smile spread across my face, and I was unable to stop the tears of pure joy from flowing freely from my eyes. I couldn't believe this was really happening, that I was actually going to be someone's father, someone's papa!
"Iduna, are you really...? Are we really...having a baby?"
She looked back up at me, nodding her head and smiling, the tears she had tried to hold back for so long now flowing freely down her own face.
"I really am...we really are. Seven months from now, we'll be holding our sweet little prince or princess."
I smiled back at her, eyes full of nothing but love, as I pulled her face close to mine, kissing her passionately, like I'd done so many times before. As we parted, our foreheads touching, I once again found myself lost in her beautiful blue eyes as they met my green ones, both now stained with the happiest of tears.
She spoke up first. "I love you, my dearest Agnarr."
"And I you, my darling Iduna." I replied.
As we cuddled up in bed later that night, our emotions now much more under control, I wrapped an arm tightly around Iduna's waist, laying a protective hand on her stomach, on our child. I wanted this child within her, this child formed out of our great love for one another, to know just how loved he or she already was, and always would be.
