The time it took Izuna to toss and turn into a comfortable, deep, slumber seemed never-ending. Especially to the elder scion of the two, the one that was wide awake with pestering thoughts about a certain individual that plagued his mind throughout all hours of the day. One glance over at his brother let the Uchiha know he was safe to slip from his own shikibuton so that he could disappear into the night. Not before Madara roved over the room with razor precision to make sure nothing was out of place before he took off.
The sprint to the next camp over was child's play for the athletically built man. What would've taken an average shinobi twenty minutes to run took the onyx-haired young adult approximately twelve. It was foolish- boldly venturing into the depths of another clan's camp to seek you out in the darkness. The security for the perimeter of the village made Madara scoff at how pitiful it was as he entered, undetected, and slunk into the dwelling that housed you.
It was shameful how well the shinobi knew the layout of the house he was sauntering around, and the tall man effortlessly shifted his weight so that the wooden flanks he was traveling on around the back of the dwelling wouldn't creak beneath him. The garden that your bedroom opened up to was relatively still for such a late hour, the moon providing an excellent source of natural light as it peeked over the stone wall at the back of the property line as the eldest Uchiha heir idled by your door- swearing he sensed a chakra signature nearby.
Without a solid confirmation that he'd been caught, Madara silently pried the door open just enough to allow himself access before enclosing himself into the privacy of your space. In the midst of being preoccupied, the young man failed to realize he had been correct in his assumptions of being watched. By not only his father that had tailed his son just to confirm his suspicions of something going on, but by your mother as well. Neither made the decision to intervene in the moment, for reasons only known to themselves… although they were completely aware of each other's presence, even after Tajima fell back with his mind made up to address the issue in the morning.
Inside your quarters, Madara had discarded his sandals by the door and was stealthily drifting over towards where you were already nestled in. The moon's illumination of the room was poor in-part from the door being fully closed, but it provided enough ambiance through the paper door to give you a glow that made you come across as ethereal. You were groggy, though still awake even though your lids were closed and you didn't stir when you felt Madara's chakra practically towering over you.
Subconsciously, vines started oozing out of crevices and began inching their way towards the unphased ninja that took no threat from your own form of nature kekkei genkai. It wasn't quite the wood release of Hashirama Senju's he was used to, (still just as lethal) but it was still quite pestering when all the insomniac man wanted to do was hopefully catch a few hours rest next to you, "Is all of this really necessary?" Madara inquired, his hushed tone somehow making his natural octave a few registers lower- something that you would typically melt for.
Tonight, though, you were both exhausted from the long week where you were both certain neither of you had many enjoyable highlights to discuss currently. You roused enough to twist your head back to glance up at the striking Uchiha- his inky, unkempt tresses falling forward as he tilted his head down to keep the connection with you. The bags under Madara's eyes were more prominent than usual as he made no move to stop your vine's assault, and you honestly didn't know why your vines were trying to attack him in the first place.
You had easily sensed his chakra signature well before he had come in. The energy that rolled off of him was like wild stallions galloping through a roaring thunderstorm- untamable and deadly. There was no mistaking it once you've basked in the presence of it as you had so often done since you were preteens, "You tell me if it is, why're you here?- I wasn't expecting you tonight." You murmured, baffled by Madara's sudden visit knowing his routine would've had him placed with you tomorrow night anyway.
Being a smidge more coherent allowed you the energy to concentrate enough to lull your kekkei genkai into a slumbering state, the vines receding and granting Madara the room to fully relax. You had been under the impression that he had been there to find some relief, partaking in the dancing of flesh that you had done so with him a handful of times- permanently blurring just what you were to each other. This wasn't one of those moments, though, and you could tell by how little resistance the usually hot-headed man was exhibiting that he was utterly spent and seeking something even he couldn't comprehend just yet.
Swiveling under the depths of the warm cocoon you'd made for yourself, you moved to make room and open up the duvet- an open invitation for Madara to respond to. He was usually a self-assured young man, but in this moment he was lightly shuffling his weight from foot-to-foot and pressing his nails into the calloused palms of his. It wasn't as though he'd come here in the night to only seek a warm body.
On some nights that seemed to drag he'd find himself here, entertaining his need to converse with someone that withheld judgment and allowed him space to vent about personal matters as well as the harsh life the battlefield was. Of course there were those nights where the surge of adrenaline from being fresh off the war zone was too much to sate by simply 'sleeping it off', and the brazen Uchiha would sneak over after he'd believed everyone to be asleep and dance the excess energy away with you.
On this night, though, he was there for neither reason- and if there were any heart palpitations he was having from acknowledging that he had developed feelings for you…well…he wasn't going to tell you about it. Not now anyway, not when he was exhausted and the idea of having to toss and turn it out in his own bed wasn't appealing to him. Not when his being yearned to have you close before he could drift for a few hours.
His obsidian pools should've been a little terrifying as they bore into yours (your history preventing the fear from existing), ignoring your inquiry altogether- exhaling a fatigued sigh instead. The eldest Uchiha started discarding the gray pants he typically wore under his yukata and stopped at that- leaving him in just the yukata itself, and the fundoshi he wore underneath. No longer able to resist his eyes drooping from denying himself rest, he accepted your offer and kneeled beside you to crawl into the gap you provided for him. The extra heat he emitted was welcoming and soothing as Madara situated into a comfortable position beside you.
The aroma the Uchiha scion gave off was oriental, a hint of lavender from his hair products powerfully wafting into your nose and enticing you to settle back into a peaceful slumber. With an arm tucked under his head (you sharing the single pillow you owned), he held his free arm up and silently beckoned you to come in closer to him- wrapping his arm around your waist the moment you'd found sanctuary flush against him.
"Not so mouthy tonight, hm? You didn't answer me." You teased, head resting in the crook of Madara's neck- his raven locks tickling your skin occasionally. With a leg hoisted over his, and you practically hugging him from the side you had put yourself in the perfect comfortable position- for both you, and your late-night companion. Madara gave a light chuckle and moved the arm purchased at your waist and utilized his hand to comb through your tresses.
His free hand moved to rest upon the leg draped over his waist, his lips hovering just over your forehead in the most subtle display of affection he would allot himself to give you for now, "Don't play with fire, y/n, sleep now." Madara hushed you, dismissing your shenanigans as his movements ceased altogether and his arms were left to cradle you against his body. There were no complaints from you and you were swift to nod back off knowing you were safe where you were.
Madara yawned, admiring how the stress that plagued your soft features ebbed away while you couldn't actively catch him studying you in this way. He didn't even feel compelled to stare into the void as he so often did at home. With his body no longer on high alert and not capable of holding his eyes open, he followed you into the darkness in little-to-no time at all; Blissfully unaware of the lecture he'd receive in the morning.
