One day, while in the library, Sonoko noticed an unmistakable figure trying to reach for a book on a high shelf. Then a brat she knew appeared closing the distance behind her, without a word, placing his hands on her waist and gently taking the book and handing it to her.

"Subtle, guys, very subtle," Sonoko muttered to herself, a knowing smile on her lips. And that was the day that she made it her mission to catch the middle-schoolers red-handed.

Sonoko Suzuki, with her insatiable curiosity and knack for detecting hidden romances, couldn't shake the image of Conan and Ai in the library from her mind. It was like a catchy tune on a loop, playing over and over again in her thoughts. She found herself replaying the scene, analyzing every detail, every nuance of their interaction.

She recalled the way Conan's normally composed demeanor melted into a softness reserved only for Ai. His eyes, usually sharp and focused, softened as they rested on her, a hint of adoration dancing within their depths. His actions, always deliberate and calculated, became gentle and caring when it came to her. He seemed to instinctively know what she needed, even before she realized it herself.

Ai, typically guarded and reserved, seemed to blossom in Conan's presence. Her voice, usually monotone and detached, gained a hint of warmth and animation when speaking to him. She would smile more freely, her eyes sparkling with a newfound light. Sonoko noticed the way Ai's body language subtly mirrored Conan's, unconsciously leaning in closer, seeking his comfort and support.

It was in these tiny moments, the stolen glances, the gentle touches, the unspoken understanding between them, that Sonoko saw the undeniable truth – Conan and Ai were falling for each other, head over heels. The realization sent a thrill of excitement through her. She couldn't wait to tease them about it, to watch their flustered reactions, to see their love story unfold before her eyes.

Driven by her natural curiosity and concern for her friends, Sonoko decided to start her investigation with the closest witness, Ran Mouri. So one afternoon at college, Sonoko started dropping casual remarks into her conversations with Ran.

"Ran," Sonoko said, her voice lowered to a conspiratorial whisper, "Have you noticed how the brats are always in sync? It's like they're on the same wavelength."

Ran, ever so slightly oblivious to these subtleties. "Brats? Who are you talking about?"

"Geez Ran, the brat in the glasses and Ai-chan! How can you be so oblivious?" Sonoko said as hints of irritation appeared on her face. "They seem closer, more... attuned to each other. It's like they have their little world." she continued.

Ran, who had always seen Conan as a little brother figure, knew that Conan was indeed interested in Ai, but hadn't given much thought to the nature of Conan and Ai's relationship. "They have been always like this."

Sonoko, however, wasn't convinced. "It's more than just friendship, I think. There's a certain... tenderness in the way they interact. You see, friends don't find the silliest excuse to touch or hold each other." Sonoko smirked.

Ran, still ever confused looked at Sonoko. "I dont understand. Am I missing something?"

Sonoko smirked, raising her eyebrows teasingly. "Well… I may have caught them red-handed…" Sonoko smirked, and that was the day when two unwanted shippers were created.

After their little gossip session, Ran began to notice a subtle change in Conan's habits. Over the past few weeks, she observed that if Conan wasn't at the professor's house, he was spending his time at home on the phone. It was an unusual behavior for Conan, who typically wasn't much for long phone conversations.

At first, Ran thought little of it, assuming Conan was perhaps more involved in his detective work or school projects. But as the days passed, she couldn't help but grow curious. Conan would often step away to take these calls, speaking in hushed tones and sometimes even leaving the room for more privacy.

One evening, as they were finishing dinner at Professor Agasa's house, Conan's phone rang. Excusing himself with a quick, "I need to take this," he stepped outside, leaving the door slightly ajar. Ran, sitting at the table, couldn't hear the conversation, but she noticed the smile in Conan's voice, a tone of warmth and enthusiasm that was rare in his usual phone demeanor.

Later that night, Ran decided to gently broach the subject teasingly. "Conan-kun, I've noticed you've been on the phone a lot lately."

Conan, caught off guard by the question, hesitated for a moment. "Oh, uh, yeah, it is just some extra stuff for school and... um, detective stuff," he replied, a bit too quickly.

Ran looked at him, with a knowing smile. "Mmm, but I got a feeling that you are talking to the girl you like."

Conan met her gaze with a widening eye, "That's not true." As her ran upstairs to his room.

Ran let a small laugh escape her lips. 'Until when is he going to act as if nothing is between him and Ai?' Ran shook her head "Ah, to be young." Ran said to herself as she headed to the kitchen.

Ran continued to observe Conan discreetly over the next few days. She noticed how his eyes would light up whenever he received a text message, the way he would steal glances at his phone during meals, and the eagerness with which he would answer calls, often disappearing into the hallway for privacy. It was clear to her that Conan was smitten, and she couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and fondness towards her young friend.

In the quietude of her bedroom, Ran lay awake, consumed by guilt. She felt like an intruder, prying into the budding romance between Conan and Ai. It was a strange and uncomfortable feeling, a mix of protectiveness and jealousy that she couldn't quite shake.

After all, Conan was like a little brother to her, and she had always fiercely guarded his well-being. But now, she found herself gleefully teasing him about his feelings for Ai, instigating situations where they would be forced to interact. It was as if she was trying to force a connection between them, to hasten a relationship that might not be ready to bloom.

Sighing, Ran turned on her side, pulling her pillow close. She knew she needed to stop interfering, to give Conan and Ai the space they needed to explore their feelings naturally. But the thought of them together, of Ai taking the place she had always held in Conan's life, was almost unbearable.

The next morning, Ran found herself at the breakfast table, picking at her toast and avoiding Conan's gaze. She felt awkward and guilty, knowing that she had been spying on him and Ai. Conan, oblivious to her inner turmoil, chatted animatedly about a new mystery he was working on, his eyes sparkling with excitement. Ran tried to smile and engage in the conversation, but her heart wasn't in it.

After breakfast, Conan announced that he was heading to Professor Agasa's house to work on a science project. Ran's heart skipped a beat. This was her chance to tag along and spend some time with Conan and Ai. She knew it was wrong, but the temptation was too strong.

"Can I come with you?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

Conan looked at her, surprised. "Um… yeah sure, if you want," he said, his usual guarded expression softening.

Ran tried to control the excitement as they walked to Professor Agasa's house. She stole glances at Conan, noting how he held himself a little straighter and how his steps seemed lighter. She wondered if he was as nervous as she was.

When they arrived at the professor's house, Ai was already there, tinkering with a new invention. She looked up when they entered, a shy smile gracing her lips. Ran's heart clenched at the sight of them standing together, their smiles mirroring each other's.

They enjoyed a delightful meal, filled with laughter and stories, a pleasant break from their usual detective adventures. After the meal, Ai, being her usual helpful self, began to clear the table. Conan, wanting to assist, joined her in the kitchen. They worked in tandem, a comfortable rhythm established between them from their many shared experiences.

As Ai handed a plate to Conan, their hands briefly met. At that moment, Conan, almost instinctively, found himself getting lost in Ai's eyes. The world around them seemed to fade, leaving just the two of them in their silent bubble. He gently rubbed her hand with his thumb, a familiar gesture that conveyed so much more than words ever could.

"I miss you beautiful," Conan murmured, his voice carrying an underlying warmth.

Ai, caught in the moment, smiled back, about to reply, when they both suddenly became aware of Ran standing in front of them. She was watching them, a knowing grin on her face.

Caught off guard, Conan quickly withdrew his hand, a slight blush coloring his cheeks. Ai, too, looked surprised, her eyes flickering between Conan and Ran.

Ran's grin widened as she stepped into the kitchen. "So, this is what you two get up to when you think no one's watching," she teased, her tone light but filled with curiosity.

Conan, scrambling to regain his composure, tried to brush it off. "We were just... doing the dishes," he stammered, avoiding Ran's gaze.

Ran, however, wasn't convinced. "Uh-huh. It looked like more than just dish duty to me." As Ran left the kitchen, Conan and Ai exchanged a glance, a mix of nervousness and worry.

As the days progressed, the subtle dynamics between Ai and Conan didn't escape the watchful eyes of Sonoko and Ran, who prided themselves on noticing the subtle hints of relationships. Meanwhile, Conan and Ai continued their delicate balancing act.

However, the more they tried to maintain a semblance of normalcy, the more their genuine affection for each other shone through. One afternoon, as they walked home together, Ai broached the subject that had been on both their minds. "Babe, do you think people are starting to notice... us?"

Conan glanced at her, a slight furrow in his brow. "You mean Sonoko don't you?"

Ai nodded. "Yes, I think she's been watching us a lot lately."

Conan let out a sigh. "We've been careful, but I guess it's hard to hide how we feel completely. But what matters is how we see each other, not how others see us."

"You're right. It's just… I like the simplicity of our relationship. I don't want it to get ruined by others."

Conan grabbed her hand and squeezed it with a knowing smile. He knew it was only about time for people to know the truth. It was easy on them for now, but despite their best efforts to maintain discretion, their closeness didn't go unnoticed, especially by Sonoko, whose curiosity and intuition were sharper than most gave her credit for.

Conan and Ai, aware of the growing attention, could only agree that they had to be more cautious in their interactions. They were mindful of the eyes and ears around them, understanding that even the smallest gesture could be misconstrued. Their conversations remained as short as ever, but there was a new layer of restraint, a protective barrier they had constructed to safeguard their bond.

One evening, Conan found himself pacing back and forth in his room, phone in hand, contemplating the conversation he was about to have. Ran had recently mentioned that her father, Kogoro Mouri, was invited to a short trip to a nearby festival and had invited Conan to join them. Conan saw this as a perfect opportunity to include Ai outside the home or class.

Dialing Ai's number, he waited anxiously for her to pick up. When she did, her voice calm and curious, he wasted no time in getting to the point. "Hey, love I was wondering if you'd like to come on a trip with me, Ran, and Kogoro. We have been invited to a nearby festival and we have one extra invitation. I think it is fun for us to somehow ditch them and go on a secret date ."

There was a silence on the other end of the line as Ai considered his proposal. Eventually, she replied, her voice laced with cautious excitement. Ai, taken aback by the invitation, paused for a moment before responding. "A trip with Ran and ? Are you sure that's a good idea?"

Conan understood her hesitation so he was hopeful that he could convince her, "I know it's a bit out of the ordinary, but it'll be okay. It's just a casual outing, and it could be a good change of pace for us."

There was a silence on the other end of the line as Ai considered his proposal. Eventually, she replied, her voice laced with cautious excitement. "Okay, I'll go. But we have to be careful. We can't let Ran or Kogoro suspect anything." Conan nodded, relieved that she agreed. "Don't worry, love. I'll make sure everything goes smoothly."
