Chapter 2: Ashes to Dust
Synopsis
It is the finals of the Beacon duel tournament. Weiss Schnee, bearing the pride of her family name, faces off against last years champion Yang Xiao Long to avenge a humiliating defeat she endured last year. Unlike that year, this years a Turbo Duel! Can Weiss let the wind flow through her hair, or will the rigid dueling style her family drilled into her at a young age make her crash her duel runner and burn?
Summary
The wind blew Weiss's hair as she rode her duel runner down the track, blasting her long hair, as white as the clouds in the sky, into the air. Her duel runner was a standard model, surprising considering her lavious lifestyle, with a light blue color scheme with white glitter marks. Hence why she named it Blue Dust. It was something she worked hard on constructing after her tough first Year at Beacon Duel Academy. Here they teach you many different aspects of dueling, rather than the standard Master Duel setting Atlas was known to strictly enforce. Her families, the Schnee's, were no slouches in that viewpoint as well, having even forced her at a young age to use the standard Ice Barrier deck that won them many prestigious tournaments and gain their fortune.
"Remember Weiss, this deck was forged by our grandfather. I know it seems rough, but we only push you so hard to learn to use it because we think you can be great like him." Her sister said to her with a smile. Weiss couldn't help but smile in return as she zig to the left to avoid a corner on the highway. Despite her sister's strictness when teaching or dueling, Winter could always soften up a bit and realize when it was time to be loving and alleviate stress. Weiss's smile descended the moment a certain pompous old man appeared in place of her kind elder sister's place.
"Unlike that bastard." Weiss grumbled as she remembered her younger self quivering and crying in a corner while holding her duel disk as an older man shouted at her.
"Weiss! You have a duty as the heiress to our company and legacy to not bring shame to our name with such pathetic moves!" Her father admonished her.
"God! I was only 5! So I said "I set 1 trap card and end", so I revealed my card too early give me a break old man!" Weiss bitterly thought as she eyed the deck slot on her glove-covered arm.
"I can't wait to see the pissed look on his face when he see's what I did to his father's deck hehehe." Weiss thought, giving a devious smile. Aside from the ace monster of the extra deck, Weiss decided to go with a new deck entirely. It just didn't feel like her when she dueled, she needed to reinvent herself from the image of the Schnee she lived all her life. She needed to just be Weiss and a new deck was the way to go. But what made her realize this? The answer was in a billboard up ahead of her that made her smile disappear.
Yang Xiao Long, last years Beacon Duel Academy Vytal tournament champion. Within the image of the billboard, with her giving what was for Weiss and annoying peace sign and smirk, was her fiery Red Dragon Archfiend, her ace monster. Weiss gripped her chest as she saw that dragon and Yang, bringing back bitter memories.
"You beat me once Yang, but I learned my lesson. It's not gonna be the same this year." Weiss thought, thinking back to her first day at Beacon, a day she could never forget.
"YOU ABSOLUTE DUNCE!" Weiss had screamed at a small and young teenage girl with black hair, a red Goth doll-like dress, and eyes of silver that was squirming from the harsh tone. This girl had bumped into Weiss absentmindedly, making her drop her silver suitcase holding her deck and rarest cards that scattered onto the floor of the entrance to Beacon. These cards were worth more money than most of the students homes put together, and now they were being sullied by dirt, something else the heiress berated the little girl for.
"Well! What do you have to say for yourself!?" Weiss yelled furiously. The little girl fidgeted as her lips quivered, nervously trying to utter an apology.
"S-Sor…Pick up." Was all the girl could squeak as she shook and picked up the cards of the ground, her nails chipping the edge of one rare card to Weiss fury. She had enough and even kicked the girl in the chest, making her wince in pain and drop the cards.
"YOU RUINED IT YOU DUNCE!" Weiss roared as she snatched the card of the ground herself and dusted it off, noticing the minor damage.
"It was worth 20,000 Lien and now it's value is cut in half at best, what am I suppose to do with it?!" Weiss furiously asked the girl clenching her sides, gasping for air.
"I…said, *inhale*…sorry already." The girl hissed in pain as she rolled onto her aching sides. This hadn't gone unnoticed as Yang soon approached the duo, her eyes red with fury.
"HEY! LEAVE RUBY ALONE!" Yang roared as she got in between the heiress and the little girl.
"Butt out! She just ruined an immensely rare card from my collection-" Weiss tried to argue as she bitterly glared at Yang, before a holler stunned her in her place.
"Oh boo-hoo princess! Your dress shows your rich just get your daddy to buy you a replacement like he bought your way in here." Yang coldly mocked the heiress who fumed in rage at the taunt. Yang had to will herself not to grin as the corner of her eye caught sight of the reason for this, her little sister sniffling as she weakly got on her feet. Ruby was a strong duelist, hell even having more potential than Yang at times, but her aversion to crowds and yelling were a major hindrance to her growth. Yang knew she had to protect her until she got the will to stand up for herself, and that would start right now as she saw the snob before her arm her white and blue bladed duel disk in anger.
"How dare you! I am the heiress to the most prestigious duel technology corporation in the world, The Schnee Iceburg Company. I worked hard every day learning our security coding and duel tactics to be scouted here, I earned my chance to be here unlike this dumb klutz you call a sister!" Weiss hollered. Yang's eyes twitched as she heard this insult to her sister, gritting her teeth as she grabbed her duel disk, a jagged flame-like blade with red and orange coloring, and armed it.
"Take that back or else." Yang bitterly said with immense anger in her tone. Ruby crouched behind a tree in fright, knowing things would get ugly. Weiss just snickered at her fear.
"Ooooh running away and letting big sis fight your battles huh? Yeah I can see how I'm wrong. She probably can't even hold a duel disk with those scrawny arms of hers." Weiss snickered. This was the last straw for Yang.
"THAT'S IT! BRING IT YOU SPOILED BRAT!" Yang roared as she inserted her deck into her duel disk as Weiss did the same.
Weiss's present self just sighed sadly as she felt so embarrassed about how prideful and mean she was back then, and how humiliating something else that came after, a thing she never once experienced at the hands of another, defeat. It seemed impossible; she had spent years mastering her families Ice Barrier deck to lockdown any potential flaw.
"Hah! With my perfect Ice Barrier shields, Soldiers, Medium and Sojo, your completely frozen in place, unable to destroy my cards or use more than a single spell or trap. My dragon's Brionic and Trishua will wrap this up on my next turn. What can you possibly do now?" Weiss's past self had arrogantly taunted. It was Yang's furious words next that haunted her to this day.
"Actually duel you cowardly brat." Yang grumbled as she drew her next card.
"How dare you call me a coward!? You're the one whose losing to my flawless combo brought by my families flawless strategy." Weiss countered.
"Hiding behind a lock, not willing to engage in battle or let your opponent even try something? Yeah right! You're just flaunting your family name without pouring your heart into this!" Yang hollered. Weiss was visibly unnerved by this statement and confused.
"My heart?" Weiss asked.
"A duel is a clash between 2 people fighting with their passion, their inner fire released at each other without any fear. But I don't sense any of that will in you. You don't understand the true nature of dueling, but it is high time you learned it!" Yang roared. In the blink of an eye, Weiss had her whole world turned upside down as she stopped her duel runner, unable to focus on anything else but that red dragon she saw on a billboard glaring at her just like that day. Yang had used her spell forbidden chalice to power her monster up, a strange maneuver to Weiss as she couldn't comprehend why she helped an enemies monster, until she learned this negated her lock, allowing Yang to summon away passionately.
"Since you're the only one with monster still I get to cut Vice Dragon's power in half and summon it right away along with this guy, the Tuner Monster Dark Resonator. Now I tune my Dark Resonator with Vice Dragon to Synchro Summon my most powerful beast. This is what true dueling's like Schnee, I synchro summon RED DRAGON ARCHFIEND!" Yang's roar echoed in Weiss's mind as that fiery demonic dragon emerged and glared at her venomously. It's glowing yellow eyes were like knives in her heart that burned. She had to get rid of it.
"I-I play my trap, Frozen Domain of the Ice-" Weiss had tried to say but Yang cut her off with a trap reveal.
"Wrong I use Red Gardna tosave my dragon from your effects!" Yang countered as she discarded the card.
"No more hiding. NOW GO ABSOLUTE POWERFORCE!" Yangyelled as she attacked her soldiers. But that wasn't the worst of it, Yang had another trap in store for her.
"Go Lineage of Destruction! Game over spoiled brat! My trap lets my beast attack 3 more times since it roasted 3 of your monsters." Yang said with a smirk. Weiss's eyes widened in horror.
"It what?!" Weiss yelled in shock.
Archfiend roared as it's fist collided with brionic, but Weiss tried to counter with her trap Bye Bye Damage.
"N-Now you lose Xiao Long! My trap saves my monster and slams you with double the damage I ta-" Weiss stuttered before a yell from Yang cut her off.
"I activate Red Vanish. Usually I wouldn't be able to play this the turn I set it but I can because Archfiend's out so your trap goes bye-bye Weissy!" Yang countered, her taunt and counter hurt Weiss's pride as badly as Archfiend's fiery claws that tore her defense monster apart and melted them.
In the blink of an eye it was over. Yang's archfiend decimated her synchro dragon's one by one and then blasted her with a stream of fire, knocking out all her 4000 Aura to zero.
"I…I can't believe my perfect lock was ruined." She didn't know what burned worse, her skin as she felt the attack or ego as Yang taunted her after when receiving a hug from Ruby.
"See brat. You can't be a true dueling champion by hiding and acting tough, you got to fight head on and be tough." Yang said coldly. A few students watching cheered as they heard this, including a black haired girl wearing a bow who strutted by smirking at the heiress.
"You tell her girl. Name's Blake, anyone who puts down a bratty Schnee is a friend of mine. You and your sister want to join my Duel Monster research club in the library?" Blake had offered. As Yang and Ruby gleefully accepted the offer and walked off, Yang spared Weiss a bitter glance that shook her to the core. In that moment, as the kids around her snickered at her loss and burnt clothing, Weiss screamed in rage and sadness as the frustration overwhelmed her. She vowed that day she would make her own deck and crush that Yang girl at her own game. She had worked her butt off to win all her duels at this years Duel Tournament at Beacon to make it to the finals to face Xiao Long, who won last year with ease.
"You want me to fight you head on with my own deck, not my families deck? Fine! But I'll get the last laugh Xiao Long in the finals!" Weiss hollered at the image of Yang on the billboard, it's mere grin pissing the prideful girl off as she put on her helmet and drove back to the school to get a good nights rest for her big match, and big chance for revenge.
Clash of Wills
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! TODAY IS THE BIG DAY AT LAST!" The announcer Ooblock, a green spiky haired man with glasses and a flashy gold glittered t-shirt yelled into the microphone as the crowed cheered in response.
"Here at the Blue-Eyes White Dragon Dome, we got the finals of the biggest tournament of the year, and what better way than to make it fast-pace and dangerous than our school's most challenging format, say it with me now ladies and gentlemen!" The announcer yelled. The crowed roared on repeat as they heard this,
"TURBO DUEL!"
"That's right folks! Now, it's time for our champion from last year to come out and say a few words and here she is!" Ooblock roared as he pointed to the far east side of the dragon shaped dome, an engine roaring in response. Out of the exit, a black and yellow duel runner, with Bumblebee written on the side, emerged and flew through the air as a fiery dragon shot out of the duel disk slot on the motorcycle and roared in the sky, exciting the crowd more as it exploded into a burst of fireworks. The duel Runner landed and went to the starting line afterwards, it's owner taking off her helmet as she paused.
"Here she is, our champion the fiery inferno of destruction like her ace dragon, YANG XIAO LONG!" Ooblock hollered making the crowd go nuts, Ruby and Blake even holding up banners saying "Xiao Long" or "Burn the Competition".
"GET HER SIS!" Ruby cheered.
"She'll win. She always does." Blake said firmly with confidence as she smiled at her friend. The lights in the arena focused on Yang as put a microphone to her face with one hand and used the other to hold her finger up in the air.
"YOU ALL READY FOR A FIERY SHOWDOWN!?" Yang roared as the crowed cheered in response, signifying their approval.
"GOOD! NOW LETS HOPE SURE MY OPPONENTS NOT A CHICKEN DOESN'T FLEE THE COUP!" Yang taunted as the lights focused on the far west corridor.
"That's right folks. Today's challenger for our champion is our other finalist, the shooting star of Beacon who blows away the competition for being greedy and wishing for victory against her, WEISS SCHNEE!" Ooblock announced.
Weiss heard massive amount of boo's coming her way. Weiss gulped as she ignited her duel runner's engines. She could feel the weight of everyone's gazes as she drove out at moderate speed, especially her parents whom she saw in luxury boxes above. Those glares just practically yelled bloody murder if she dared to loose this duel and embarrass the family name. As she glanced down in exhaustion, overwhelmed by the pressure, she glanced at her deck. That's right, her own deck, one free of the influence of her family. With that came a renewed sense of encouragement. She knew she could win this, and she had a good reason as she eyed her parents bitterly.
"You'll be disappointed today alright. But not from a loss, I'm going to win this duel for me, screw our company and screw you two!" Weiss bitterly thought, the crowd's eyes on her being her only deterrent from actually saying it, not wanting to make her personal problems a public spectacle.
As she pulled up to the starting line, Yang glared at her as she folded her arms disdainfully.
"Can't believe I got to fight you again spoiled brat. Did you bribe your opponents to lose with daddy's money?" Yang sarcastically asked. Weiss's grit her teeth in anger at the accusation, flexing her arm and about to punch the girl before she eyed her deck on the arm.
"Gah! How dare you!? I can't wait to wipe that look off your face you ignorant cow!" Weiss roared as she activated her helmets visor and revved her engines. Despite Yang's furry hearing this comment, her heart did pound, admittingly enthralled with the sound of the loud engine, wanting to get back to this duel right away.
"Fine, I'll slug that bitch later." Yang thought as she revved up her own engines from "Bumblebee".
"Alright people! Our duelists are ready, we will now activate the Speed World 2 Field Spell!" Ooblock announced as Yang and Weiss did so by pressing a button on their duel runners.
"DUEL MODE ENGAGED. AUTO PILOT STANDING BY" a duel computer voice announced as the dragon dome was encased in a purple luminescent light.
"Alright then! The rules say the first duelist around the corner takes the first turn. Lets begin the countdown folks!" Ooblock said as a computerized hologram of a traffic light appeared starting on the red light glow. Quickly it turned orange, with that Yang and Weiss bit their lips, anxiously waiting to slam their feet on the gas peddle and being as their wait for the green light to go was nearly over. The second the light turn green their engines roared, sending shockwaves throughout the dome that exilerated the audience as they cheered.
"IT'S TURBO TIME!" They all cheered. It was a tight squeeze, but Yang narrowly made the first corner turn, allowing her the right to go first.
"LET'S DUEL!" Yang and Weiss yelled.

"I'll go first! You'll see you can't keep me chained up Schnee. I'll melt those chains off, starting with RED GARGOYLE!" Yang yelled as she special summoned via it's effect the fiery red demon who roared as it flexed its muscles.
"And it will be joined by the tuner monster Red Resonator!" Yang announced as she normal summons the fire fiend. Weiss winces at the name "resonator" being said; knowing what's coming next.
"Red Gargoyle's gonna turn up the temp with it's special ability doubling Red Resonator's level from 2 to 4! Now my level 4 Red Resonator tunes my level 4 Red Gargoyle to Synchro Summon my most powerful beast. Feel the power of my RED DRAGON ARCHFIEND!" Yang hollers as Red Dragon Archfiend bellows with rage as it enters the arena from a pillar of orange light.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! Yang Xiao Long has summoned her ace Archfiend on her first turn!" Ooblock announces to the crowds glee, especially Ruby.
"GET HER YANG! ROAST THAT BIG JERK FOR PICKING ON ME! WHOOOOO!" Ruby hollers as she jumps from her seat waving a banner with her sister's face of it to Blake's embarrassment as she face palms.
"Tone it down a bit Ruby, please." Blake quietly pleaded, despite knowing it was no use.
Weiss looked up to the dragon before her, sweating and trembling a bit as unpleasant memories flashed before her mind.
"It's been much too long." Weiss said bitterly.
"Well your wait's over. On my next turn it's gonna blast your Aura down to zero just like before in our last duel. I just hope you learned to actually fight this time. I end my turn with 2 face-downs. Your move." Yang said mockingly. Weiss gritted her teeth as she drew her first card, getting boos that added insult to injury as she did so.
(Board increases both players speed counters to 1)
In her frustration though, she nearly fell off her duel runner as they took a sharp turn, neglecting to hold onto her handlebar tightly with her free hand. Thankfully, she managed to use her footing to latch onto the runner, keeping her from falling, though almost crumbled the card she drew to her annoyance.
"Ooh! Look's like the heiress to the Ice Company isn't use to her own corporation's duel runner's." Ooblock announces a bit mockingly as the crowd laughs at Weiss's misery.
"WEISS! YOUR MAKING A MOCKERY OF OUR NAME!" Jacquees Schnee roared from the crowd. Hearing this was the last straw for Weiss.
Her face turning red with rage and fluster, Weiss roars as she summons her first monster.
"I SUMMON RED DUST KNIGHT IN ATTACK MODE!" She yells as she slams the card on her duel disk, summoning a knight with red armor and glitter on it to her father and mother's shock.
"Dust? Where's your Ice Barrier's you stupid child!" Her mother willow asked with rage.
"Not here, because it wasn't mine! I'm using my own deck today!" Weiss yells. Yang grins a bit hearing this as she pulls her runner back to beside Weiss's.
"Glad to see you took my words to heart, almost makes me sad I gotta roast yours." Yang said.
"Only thing's that's gonna be roasted is your Aura. My red dust knight can wipe out 500 of it by destroying another Dust Monster in my hand. So I destroy Stardust Phantom and my Knights gonna strike!" Weiss says as Red Dust Knight's sword glows red and blasts an energy wave of red glitter at Weiss's hand, destroying the card and then slashes at Yang, reducing her aura to 3500.
"Next, I play the trap Cosmic Dust Storm!" Weiss says as the crowd boos at the move.
"Didn't learn the rules princess? You have to set traps before playing them from your hand." Yang calls out.
"Not this time, my trap can activate right away if I have 2 dust monsters on the field and graveyard and my Red Dust knight helped me meet the requirement." Weiss counters. "And this one lets me summon 2 Dust monsters right out of my deck, so rise Yellow Dust Squire and Blue Dust Trumpeter in Defense Mode." Weiss says as a small boy soldier with yellow hair and a gold shield appears along with a girl with a roman toga and blue trumpet, playing the instrument joyfully. They soon turn to a blue color as they are summoned in Defense Mode.
"Now I play my Trumpeter's ability! An ability that lets me summon Green Dust Knight from hand." Weiss yells as she summons a swordsman with green garbs and a green colored sword in attack mode. "Say goodbye to your dragon because my knights going to slay it with it's special ability. I can send White Dust Knight and 2 synchro monsters to the graveyard to destroy both of them!" Weiss hollers as the swordsman unleashes a green glittered aura of energy slicing at Red Dragon, who soon is shielded by a red and orange glowing shard to Weiss's shock.
"No way!" Weiss yells.
"Yes way! My trap Red Crystal keeps my Dragon alive no matter what this turn. Too bad the same can't be said for your Green Knight. Speaking of green, he doesn't look so good." Yang mockingly yelled as Green Dust Knight's blade shatters and he groans before being destroyed.
"It's not a total loss at least, his ability lets me add 1 spell to my hand. I choose the Speed Spell, Silver Contrails, and I plan to put it to good use. Now I tune my level 1 Squire with my trumpeter and red knight!" Weiss yells.

As squire becomes a single star that becomes a circle that Knight and Trumpeter go through, becoming a cluster of stars.
"I Synchro Summon, the one, the only brilliant dragon of the cosmos, STARDUST DRAGON!" Weiss chants as a white alien-like dragon with glitter and glowing orbs on its chest roars as it flies into the stadium. Red Dragon Archfiend bellows with rage as the dragon sees its rival, Stardust doing the same.
"WHOA! SHOCK AND AWE! WE GOT 2 DRAGON'S ON THE FIELD!" Ooblock announces as the crowd eyes the white dragon and red dragon snarl at each other with awe. Ruby and Blake's eyes sparkle seeing Stardust in particular.
"It's beautiful" Ruby coos and Blake nods. Nearby, one old man wasn't as impressed.
"Hmf! At least she was smart enough to keep fathers favorite monster in that mess of a deck she's made." Jacquees huffs, irritating Ruby and blake nearby. Yang just laughs as she eyes the dragon's roaring.
"Well, Well, Well! Guess your dragon wants to fight me head on now instead of those Ice Barrier's that preferred to cower and hide. So we got Red Dragon Archfiend vs Stardust Dragon, in a fight to the finish!" Yang yells and Weiss nods.
"And this Schnee's gonna make sure its Stardust whose coming out on top, with my speed spell, Silver Contrails! Now since my dragon's a wind attribute monster and I have a speed counter, it gets 1000 ATK points!" Weiss yells as a tornado envelops Stardust, raising it's ATK to 3500.
"Interesting, so now it has more power than my Red Dragon's 3000?" Yang asks mockingly.
"See for yourself! Stardust Dragon, blast Red Dragon Archfiend with COSMIC FLAIR!" Weiss orders as the dragon blasts a white stream of dust at Red Dragon who bellows in pain in response. Yang groans as her aura drops to 3000, but smirks as she feels exhilarated by this attack.
"Yeah! That's it! Head to Head just like I wanted! Now it's my turn to attack! I play the trap Cross-line counter! Now I take that damage you dished out and double it as ATK points for my dragon, plus now it gets to attack you!" Yang yells to Weiss's horror as Red Dragon powers up to 4000 ATK.
"It's now stronger than my dragon!" Weiss yells in fright.
"Got that right, go ABSOLUTE POWERFORCE!" Yang roars as Red Dragon's fist becomes enveloped in fire and punches Stardust's chest as it bellows and Weiss's aura drops to 3500, but her dragon remains on the field to Yang's surprise.
"Too bad Xiao Long, but by removing Squire from play, my dragon won't be destroyed now. I place 1 card face down and end my turn, which means both our dragons ATK points return to normal." Weiss announces as the dragons power down.
"This should be fun!" Yang says with a grin as she draws.
(Both girls speed counters rise to 2)
"I activate the speed spell Overboost, giving me 4 extra speed counters this round!" Yang yells as her speed counters rise to 6. "Now I think I'll take full advantage of that by activating the speed spell SPEED ENERGY to give up 1 speed counter and power up red dragon by 1000 ATK this turn!" Yang yells as her dragon's ATK rises to 4000 once more.
"Go Red Dragon Archfiend, tear that Stardust Dragon apart!" Yang roars as her dragon breaths fire at Stardust that soon evaporates into thin air to Yang's surprise.
"What happened?! That lizard should have been fried to a crisp!" Yang asks in shock.
"It's called a trap Yang, I played mine Power Frame! It negated your beasts attack and as an added bonus powered up my dragon's ATK to match yours. And I believe at the end of this turn your dragon's going to power down along with your speed counters right?" Weiss mockingly asks, amused by the frustrated groaning and scowl she saw from Yang as she did so.
"No way, is big sis really gonna lose?" Ruby asked fearfully as she saw Red Dragon return to 3000 ATK.
"Maybe, maybe not. We just have to wait and see Ruby." Blake said, very focused on the duel now.
"It's my turn now Xiao Long!" Weiss yells as she draws.
(Yang's now 1 speed counter becomes 2 and Weiss's 2 becomes 3)
"I activate the Angel Baton Speed Spell. Since I have at least 2 speed counters I can draw 2 cards and discard 1 right after. Next I summon the Stardust Xiao Long sleeping in my graveyard in defense mode since I have my dragon out." Weiss announces as she draws and summons said monster. "Now Stardust Dragon! Attack Red Dragon Archfiend and make me the queen of the ring!" Weiss orders as her dragon fires a stream of dust again, but Red Dragon counters by breathing back a blast of fire from its mouth, overpowering it and destroying Stardust to her shock.
"What happened to Stardust!?" Weiss asked in shock.
"I sent Brutal Red to my graveyard to pump up my dragon by 1000 ATK this turn, and allow it stay on the field no matter what this round. Too bad the same can't be said for your dragon Weissy." Yang explained. Weiss groaned as she set a card and ended reluctantly.
"I can't believe I fell for that." Weiss grumbled as Yang drew her card with a victorious smirk that annoyed the heiress.
(They each get a speed counter)
"I think I'll do what you did and activate the Angel Baton Speed spell. Now I think I'll summon the monster I kept. I summon to the field Chain Resonator whose special ability give me Net Resonator right outta my deck!" Yang yells as a black small resonator fiend shoots a chain at the ground, summoning net resonator from a portal in the ground that cheers gleefully. "Now my level 1 chain resonator and level 3 Net Resonator work to double tune level 8 Red Dragon Archfiend!" Yang yells to the crowds and Weiss's shock.
"Hold on a minute, Double Tune?!" Weiss asks in shock.
"WHOA! It seems our champion has a new Ace up her sleeve!" Ooblock announced as Net and Chain becomes rings of fire that wrap around Red Dragon as it roars.
"Now as the fire deep down below in the earth collides with my dragon's spirit, it creates a cosmic explosion that lets me synchro summon, RED NOVA DRAGON!" Yang yells as a fiery demonic dragon appears from a ball of fire with 3500 ATK.
"No way! Big sis has a new dragon! And it's got 3500 ATK!?" Ruby hollers along with the crowds cheers.
"And from the look of it, it's ready to pounce." Blake says amazed.
"My dragon gets 500 ATK for each tuner in my graveyard. Since I have 3, Red, Net, and Chain resonators it gets 1500 ATK." Yang explains as the dragon's attack rises to 5000. "Now go Red Nova Dragon! Attack Stardust Xiao Long with Blazing Soul Strike!" Yang yells as Red Nova becomes enveloped in fire and fly's towards the tiny dragon that quivers in response.
"I then remove the burning strike trap from my graveyard! Don't think your safe because your dragon's in defense mode, because since I did this my red monster can deal piercing damage!" Yang explains to Weiss's shock.
"Piercing!?" She asks in shock and feels a chill down her spine as Yang nods.
"Oh! And if your planning to use that face-down to damage me, guess again. Since I used Net Resonator to summon Nova I can't take effect damage as long as it's on my field." Yang explains.
"Whoa! That means speed world 2 cannot damage Yang! Not that it matters, if this attack succeeds on Xiao Long's 0 DEF stat, this duel is over folks!" Ooblock announces.

"Then I activate the trap card, Stardust Illusion!" Weiss announces as Red Nova fades through an image of Weiss's dragon that disappears into the sky and is replaced by Stardust Dragon whose in DEF and using its blue colored wings as a shield to keep Nova at bay.
"How's Stardust back?!" Yang asks confused.
"My trap removed Xiao Long to summon it back in defense mode and make it the new target of your attack, with an added bonus of letting me draw and making it indestructible this turn. But don't worry Yang, your dragon's attack still hits me for 3000 Aura." Weiss bitterly says as she bites her lip as the heat from the fire of Nova's attack blasts her Aura down to 500.
"Agh! Fine, was so damn close. I end my turn!" Yang announces in annoyance. Weiss then draws her next card.

"Since I have 3 dust monsters in my graveyard now, I can summon to the field, Black Dust Gardna in Defense mode!" Weiss announces as she summons a soldier with 2 black shields on his arms and covered in black glitter.
"Now by releasing my gardna it gives Stardust dragon a lot of abilities Yang, but it then gets banished at the end of the next turn. First it gives it ATK equal to my dragon's DEF and it can't be destroyed this turn. As an added bonus you take any damage I take from battle this turn. Stardust Dragon, attack Red Nova with Cosmic Flair!" Weiss orders as her dragon does so.
"Too bad Weissy. My Dragon's got an ability too, I can remove Nova from play and stop this attack!" Yang says as her dragon starts to disappear in a ball of fire but stops to her shock.
"Too bad for you Yang, because my Gardna's third effect prevents monsters from using their abilities this turn, so your not stopping this attack!" Weiss counters as the blast knocks Yang's aura down to 2500.
"Now I end my turn with one face down, which makes my dragon return to normal. It's your move Yang." Weiss says as stardust's attack returns to 2500, then eyes Yang's speed gauge. "And I hope she doesn't draw a spell, because if she does I take 800 Points of damage and lose. If she doesn't attack stardust either and trigger my trap, I'll lose it and my Aura too due to gardna's effect. Please let this hot head fight me!" Weiss silently prayed in her mind, hoping for a miracle.
"THIS IS IT FOLKS, IT YANG GETS A SPEED SPELL ITS GAME OVER FOR THE HEIRESS!" Ooblock announces as Yang draws (Her speed counter rising to 5 and Weiss to 6 on the board everyone eyes). Yang groans as she puts the card she drew away on her runner's card slot.
"OUCH! It seems luck wasn't on our champion's side today." Ooblock announced.
"Don't need luck when I got Red Nova Dragon here to blast away the rest of your aura! Go Blazing Soul Strike!" Yang yells annoyed. She trembles a bit seeing the smirk on Weiss's face, realizing too late she fell into a trap.
"Thanks Yang, I would have lost if you just ended there! I activate the trap Stardust Spiral Force! And due to this force, since Stardust Dragon's on the field I can double my monsters ATK this turn!" Weiss announces as Stardust's ATK goes up to 5000 the same as Nova's to Yang horror.
"You what!?" Yang yells as her dragon headbutts Stardust and the two lock hands, groaning and biting each other before being destroyed in an explosion that rocks both girls around, Weiss feeling a stinging pain of her arm as she plows into a railing, her arm being cut, before her autopilot kicks back in and stabilizes her. Yang notices Weiss clenching her arm, a bit of blood and scraps showing on the exposed skin.
"H-Hey! You okay? Need a doctor!?" Yang asked worried.
"N-No I'm fine!" Weiss hollered as she nervously shook her head in denial despite the sharp pain she was feeling.
"We gotta stop this and get you to the infirmary Weiss!" Yang hollers but is silenced by a bitter glare from Weiss.
"I am not quitting till one of us loses. A duel is a head to head collision between 2 duelists remember, our injuries be damned!" Weiss furiously declared. Yang sighed in defeat as she saw the stubborn glare, realizing she couldn't stop this.
"Fine. But don't come crying to me when I beat you. I end my turn." Yang says. Weiss cringes as she goes to draw her next card.
"Come one Weiss, just…ignore the pain!" Weiss groans in her mind as she weakly draws her card.

"Perfect. Give up 6 speed counters and play my last speed spell STARDUST SHIMMER!" Weiss painfully announces as she clenches her arm after playing the card. "Now I can remove monsters in my graveyard to synchro summon but I must remove that synchro monster at the end of the turn." Weiss announces to Yang and the crowds shock.
"From her graveyard!?" Ruby cries out.
"And thanks to my Green dust knight, I got 2 I managed to get in there to help out, now Level Synchro Tuner Formula Synchron tunes level 8 synchro monster Stardust Dragon!" Weiss announces as her duel runner glows, letting off glitter from its paint as its speed rises, the silhouettes of her stardust dragon and Formula Synchron pushing it to Yang's shock.
"What are you up to now!?" Yang asks as she is dumbfounded by this speed as Weiss passes her by at break neck speed.
"Winning this duel with this, my ACCEL SYNCHRO!" Weiss hollers as her duel runner is destroyed in a ball of energy, but grabs her duel disk and attaches it to her arm as she rides on a new dragon that emerges from the energy.
"Appear Shooting Star Dragon!" Weiss yells as her new dragon bellows with 3300 ATK.
"My stars and wonders folks! Though the force of the summon destroyed her runner, Weiss is continuing this duel riding her new dragon as a substitute!" Ooblock announces. At this point the crowd begins chanting Weiss's name to her shock.
"They….they like me now?" Weiss thought in shock, before a smile escaped her lips. She was thrilled before going at such high speeds, now she was ecstatic as her victory drew near and the crowd's jeers finally ended. She felt like a real winner for once in her life.
"Ready to be dethroned Yang?!" Weiss called out to Yang as her dragon dived, ready to pounce on the blonde duelist who shook her head in denial.
"Not happening! Since you summoned a synchro monster I can send Dynamite Resonator from my hand to the graveyard and bring back RED NOVA DRAGON!" Yang roars to Weiss's shock as her graveyard slot blasts a beam of orange energy the summons Nova Back as it stares Shooting Star down.
"However, if you destroy it I lose because like when playing with dynamite it might explode in your face. If nova goes so does my Aura, equal to his ATK which is now 5500 since I have 4 tuners in the grave." Yang explains.
"Yes! Big Sis wins! That dragon's way stronger than shooting star! And Nova can't be destroyed by card effects, Yang's got this!" Ruby cheers. Weiss heard this as she flew by, smirking as she felt overjoyed to prove the girl wrong.
"Don't be so sure, I activate White Dust Knights ability from my graveyard Yang! Since you brought out a synchro monster I can use an ability too, one that lets me banish my Barron De Fluer from my graveyard and add it's ATK to my Shooting Star dragon since they have the same attribute, wind!" Weiss explains to Yang's horror as Shooting Star's ATK rises to 6300.
"What of it, my dragon will just stop that attack with his special ability and then your spell removes Shooting Star from play at the end of this turn. I've won this duel Weissy!" Yang counters.
"Maybe, maybe not!" Weiss counters to Yang's surprise. "I got a special ability to play too. My dragon lets me check the top 5 cards of my decks for tuner monsters. For each one I reveal my dragon gets an attack this turn." Weiss explains to Yang's shock.
"An attack for each tuner? S-So you could-" Yang stutters, her skin paling to near Weiss's shade from the fear.
"Yeah get 5 attacks at most. It just takes some luck." Weiss says as she draws her cards.
"Gah! No luck just speed spells!" Weiss announces as she smacks her head after drawing 3 of the 5 cards.
"That's why you use skill like with Ice Barrier's not luck Weiss! I've told you that a million times you disgrace!" Willow jeered.
"I'm no disgrace! I'll win this my way you old hag!" Weiss hollered, shocking Willow with her audacious tone. Weiss held her deck with her eyes closed, her hand shaking in anxiety.
"Please. Just 2 tuners and I win. I have to do this, I have to show the world I am not just a schnee, just a spoiled princess, that I am a duelist! That I have worked hard to become a champion!" Weiss firmly thinks as she draws her 4th card.
"I drew a tuner, Effect Valier!" Weiss announces as she holds up said card.
"Alright folks, if Weiss Schnee can draw 1 more tuner she'll win the duel and we'll have a new champion, CAN SHE DO IT!?" Oooblock announces.
"WEISS, WEISS, WEISS, WEISS, WIESS!" The crowd cheered on repeat. Even Ruby and Blake were a bit curious at this development, wondering if she could do it.
"I know I want to root for Yang but-" Blake said as she felt a strange sensation develop within her.
"Right! You can't help but want to see an underdog perform a miracle. GO YANG GO WEISS! WIN OR LOSE GIVE IT YOUR ALL!" Ruby cheered, caught up in the excitement.
"Screw it then, LIKE RUBY SAID GO!" Blake cheered after shrugging her arms in defeat.
Jacquees and Willow eyed the crowd in confusion. Why cheer for the girl when she isn't using the deck that symbolized her culture, her identity? Eventually they decided they had enough of this "vulgar" display from the "peasants" below in the stands and stood up to leave the arena with disdain.
"She chose her path, so she can walk it without our help from now one that brat!" Jacquees sneered and willow nodded.
Yang heard the crowds cheers and it exhilarated her instead.
"Hahahah! You hear that Weissy? That's what happens when you duel head on! EVERYONE HAS A BLAST!" Yang laughs and Weiss nods in agreement.
"Thanks Yang for teaching me that. Oh and speaking of blast, what's say I blast your Aura down with my final draw!?" Weiss announces as she draws. As she slowly raises the card showcased on the screen, the crowd goes silent as they glue their eyes to the card, wondering if Weiss could do it. The card revealed was…
"I DREW THE TUNER MONSTER STARDUST SYNCHRON!" Weiss cheered with joy along with the crowd.
Yang just sighed and looked down at her duel disk.
"So it's over then. *Sniffle* Welp! Might as well go out with a blast…on my own terms. COME AT ME WEISS!" Yang roared as she waved out her arms and Weiss nodded.

"Time to end this, go shooting star! Attack with Stardust Mirage!" Weiss hollers as her dragon splits up into an aura of 5 different Shooting Stars, each with a different color (blue, red, yellow, green, and orange). They all head towards Red Nova Dragon.
"I could negate this but….ah what the hell! Let her have this." Yang thinks as her dragon explodes as the Shooting Star's collide with it, dropping Yang's Aura to 1700.
"Well Weissy, great game. Sorry to steal your thunder but If I'm going down I'd rather do it myself!" Yang yelled to Weiss's confusion.
"What do you mean? You're forfeiting before my second attack?" Weiss asked and the crowed booed at the notion. Yang just shook her head as fire erupted from her graveyard, summoning a fiery aura silhouette of Red Nova Dragon to everyone's astonishment.
"Nope! Because Dynamite Resonator now deals me damage equal to my Nova's attack points. If I have to lose, I'm going out in a blaze of glory!" Yang roars as the fiery spirit tackles her duel runner, Yang's eyes closing as she smiles once the heat blasts her, reducing her aura to Zero.
"Now this….is true dueling!" Yang blissfully thought as everything faded around her from the pain. Yet, all she truly felt then was a joyful, peaceful warmth that made her want to sleep.

Yang Xiao Long has 1 set card on the field, 4 cards in hand, and 500 Aura. Weiss has 4000 Aura and controls Medium of the Ice Barrier (Star 7/2200 ATK/1600 DEF) in Defense, Secret Guards of the Ice Barrier (Star 2/100 ATK/1600 DEF) in defense, Dai-Sojo of the Ice Barrier (Star 6/1600 ATK/2200 DEF) in defense, Brionic, Dragon of the Ice Barrier (Star 6/2300 ATK/1400 DEF), in attack mode, and Trishua, Dragon of the Ice Barrier (Star 9/2700 ATK/ 2000 DEF) in attack mode. She also has Frozen Domain of the Ice Barrier and a 2 set cards.

Weiss attempts to use Frozen Domain's effect to target and return "Brionic" back to her extra deck to do the same to "Red Dragon" back to the extra deck, but if either monster can't be returned the effect is negated. Yang triggers Red Gardna in her hand to negate that effect by targeting her Red monster, making it immune to card effect that would make it leave the field this turn so Brionic and Red remain on the field.
Yang attacks "Secret Guards" and destroys it. Red Dragon's effect activates destroying all of Weiss's Defense Position monsters. Since "Medium" is gone, Yang can now activate Spell and Traps again. She then activates her set Lineage of Destruction whose anime effect lets a level 8 monster she controls attack as many times as the monsters that were destroyed by card effects this turn. Since 3 were destroyed, Red Dragon can attack 3 more times. Yang attacks "Brionic" but Weiss activates her trap Bye Bye Damage in an attempt to prevent her monsters destruction and deal Yang double her own battle damage, but Yang counters with the trap Red Vanish which she can activate the turn its set if she controls a Red monster. Red Vanish negates and destroys Weiss's trap so the attack goes through and "Brionic" is destroyed (Weiss 4000 – 3300 Aura). "Red Dragon" then attacks "Trishua" and destroys it (Weiss 3300 – 3000 Aura). "Red Dragon" attacks Weiss directly (3000 – 0).

Featured Duel 2: Yang Xiao Long vs Weiss Schnee (Turbo Duel)
This duel is conducted with anime 5D's rules so players may summon face-up in DEF, have 4000 Aura, can draw on their first turns, and Speed World 2 will be in play.
Speed World 2's effect means neither player can use regular spells, gains 1 speed counter to use speed spells after the second turn starts each standby phase, and cannot leave the field under any circumstances.
Turn 1: Yang Xiao Long
Yang Xiao Long draws. Since she controls no monsters she can special summon Red Gargoyle (Star 4/1200 ATK/1400 DEF). She then normal summons Red Resonator (Star 2/tuner/1300 ATK/200 DEF) in attack. She then uses Red Gargoyle's effect to double 1 level 6 or lower Red monsters Level until the end phase, she targets Red Resonator (Star 2- 4). She then tunes Resonator to Gargoyle to Synchro Summon Red Dragon Archfiend (Star 8/3000 ATK/2000 DEF) in Attack mode. She sets 2 cards and ends.

Turn 2: Weiss Schnee
Weiss draws. The effect of Speed World 2 is triggered (Weiss SPC 0 -1/Yang SPC 0 – 1).
Weiss normal summons Red Dust Knight (Star 4/1700 ATK/1200 DEF) in Attack Mode. She uses its effect to destroy 1 "Dust" monster on the field or in her hand to inflict 500 damage to Yang. Weiss discards Stardust Phantom as the cost (Yang Aura 4000-3500). Since Weiss has 2 "Dust" monsters on the field and/or Graveyard, she can activate the trap Cosmic Dust Storm from her hand to special summon from her deck 2 Dust monsters in Defense Mode. She special summons Yellow Dust Squire (Star 1/Tuner/200 ATK/1000 DEF) and Blue Dust Trumpeter (Star 3/1200 ATK/0 DEF). Since "Trumpeter" was summoned while she controls another Dust monster, Weiss uses it's effect to special summon 1 Dust monster in her hand. Weiss special summons Green Dust Knight (Star 4/1600 ATK/1200 DEF) in Attack. Weiss uses it's effect to discard White Dust Knight (Star 4/1800 ATK/1200 DEF) from her hand and 2 Synchro Monsters from her extra deck to the graveyard to add a spell from her deck to her hand and destroy 1 monster on both fields. She sends Barron de Fleur and Formula Synchron to the graveyard and adds SPEED SPELL – Silver Contrails, and attempts to destroy "Green" and Red Dragon, but Yang activates her set Red Crystal to prevent "Red" monsters from being destroyed this turn so only "Green" is destroyed.
Weiss tunes "Squire" to "Red" and "Blue" to Synchro summon Stardust Dragon (Star 8/2500 ATK/2000 DEF) in Attack mode. She then activates SPEED SPELL –Silver Contrails which gives Stardust 1000 ATK this turn since it's a wind attribute monster and Weiss has 1 speed counter (Stardust 2500 – 3500 ATK).
"Stardust" attacks "Red Dragon" but the latter isn't destroyed due to the effect of Red Crystal (Yang 3500 – 3000 Aura). Yang then chains with her trap Crossline Counter to take the battle damage she took, double it, then add that damage to her Red Dragon's ATK this turn, plus her monster can attack now (Red Dragon 3000 – 4000 ATK). Red Dragon attacks Stardust (Weiss 4000 – 3500 Aura), but Weiss banishes "Yellow Dust" from her graveyard to prevent a Dust Monster's destruction.
Weiss sets a card and ends. Both Dragon's ATK now return to normal (Stardust 3500 – 2500)(Red Dragon 4000 – 3000 ATK).

Yang activates SPEED SPELL – Overboost to gain 4 Speed counters this turn but they become 1 at the end phase (Yang SPC 2 – 6). Yang activates the SPEED SPELL – Speed Energy to give up 1 SPC and add the remaining numbers as ATK x 200 to one monster on Yang's field (Yang SPC 6 - 5). Since she has 5, Red Dragon gains 1000 ATK until the end phase (Red Dragon 3000 - 4000 ATK).
Red Dragon Archfiend attacks Stardust Dragon but Weiss activates her trap Power Frame to negate the attack and have "Stardust" gain ATK equal to the difference in the two monsters ATK (Stardust 2500 – 4000 ATK).
Yang ends her turn. The effect of Speed Energy ends (Red 4000 – 3000 ATK). "Overboost" reduces Yang's SPC to 1 (Yang's SPC 5 - 1).

Weiss then special summons it via its effect (Star 1 0 ATK/0 DEF) Weiss attacks with Stardust Dragon but Yang discards Brutal Red to give her dragon 1000 ATK during the damage calculation since it's a Red monster and prevent its destruction this turn (Red 3000 – 4000 ATK).

Yang draws, Speed World 2's effect triggers (Yang SPC 2 - 3)(Weiss 3 - 4). She then activates SPEED SPELL – Angel Baton to draw 2 cards and discards 1.
Yang normal summons Chain Resonator (Star 1/Tuner/ 100 ATK and DEF). Yang then uses it's effect to special summon Net Resonator from her deck (Star 3/800 ATK and DEF).
Yang then performs a DOUBLE TUNING to Synchro summon Red Nova Dragon (Star 12/3500 ATK/3000 DEF). For every tuner in Yang's Graveyard, Nova gains 500 ATK. She has 3 so far (3500 – 5000). Furthermore, since Net Resonator was used as Synchro Material Yang takes no effect damage as long as Nova is on the field.
Yang attacks then banishes the Burning Strike trap from her graveyard to allow all Red monsters she controls to inflict piercing damage this turn.

Weiss switches Stardust Dragon to Attack Mode then normal summons Black Dust Gardna (Star 7/tuner/0 ATK/2000 DEF) in DEF without tribute since she has 3 Dust Monsters in the graveyard. She then tributes it with it's effect to target Stardust Dragon. This turn "Stardust" cannot be destroyed, is Weiss's only monster that can attack, and gains its DEF as ATK until the end phase (Stardust 2500 – 4500). Furthermore, Yang takes all battle damage Weiss would take this turn from battles involving that monster but it must be banished at the end of the next turn and Weiss takes damage equal to its original ATK if it is on the field.

Red Nova attacks Stardust but Weiss activates her Trap Stardust Spiral Force, which doubles the ATK of a monster on the field if she controls Stardust Dragon, but Stardust can't attack this turn (Stardust 2500 – 5000 ATK). Red Nova and Stardust destroy each other in a DOUBLE KO.

Weiss activates SPEED SPELL- Stardust Shimmer. By removing 6 Speed Counters, Weiss can banish monsters from her graveyard (1 tuner and 1 non-tuner) to Synchro Summon, but it's removed from play at the end of this turn (Weiss SPC 7 -1). Weiss banishes Stardust Stardust Dragon and Formula Synchron to Accel Synchro Summon Shooting Star Dragon (Star 10/3300 ATK/2500 DEF) in Attack Mode. Yang triggers Dynamite Resonator effectin her hand. By discarding this card during an opponents turn and targeting a "Red" Synchro Monster her graveyard, she can special summon that monster, but must take damage equal to its ATK if it's destroyed and that monster is destroyed during the next turns end phase. Yang special summons Red Nova Dragon (Star 12/ 3500-5500 ATK/3000 DEF). Since Yang summoned a Synchro Monster during the Battle Phase, Weiss banished White Dust Knight from her graveyard via it's effect to target 1 Synchro Monster in her graveyard and banish it to add it's ATK to another Synchro Monster on the field until the end phase. She banishes Barron De Fluer and targets "Shooting Star" (Star 3300-6300 ATK). Weiss then activates Shooting Star's effect to reveal the top 5 cards of her deck and allow it to attack this turn equal to the number of Tuner's she revealed. She reveals the Speed Spells Overboost, End of The Storm, and Final Attack. She then reveals the Tuner Monsters Effect Veiler and Stardust Synchron. Weiss revealed 2 Tuners so "Shooting Star" can attack twice this turn. "Shooting Star" attacks Red Nova Dragon; Yang contemplates banishing Red Nova to negate this attack, but opts not too. Nova is destroyed (Yang 2500 -1700 Aura) Dynamite Resonator's effect deals Yang damage equal to Nova's 5500 ATK since it was destroyed (Yang 1700 – 0 Aura).

Today's winner and new champion is Weiss Schnee! The polls said stardust or Ice barrier so I decided she would use both today with some original cards added. Yang was said to use Battling Boxer's but I felt a 5d's turbo duel was more fitting so red dragon's absolute power force style fit Yang better here.
