"I haven't the faintest idea," Sidon admitted. "If this magic is supposed to make us all forget, and she forgot even with her time power? I don't know what she wants from you."
"It can't be to just return like she did," Tulin said. "None of us sages even know what's going on out there. Once we check, we probably can't come back."
"Our stones might protect us?" Yunobo offered.
"It did let me survive," Rija agreed, "however, it's a one-shot try. One of us will have to go over to see if it works or not."
"Even if it does work, the stone isn't mine." Link looked at it, still hiding in his back. "It's got Zelda's scripture on it. All of yours have your own scripture." He just held it for her.
"Maybe it would have protected her mind, but you couldn't just boldly hand it to her. The last thing we need from that wannabe hero murderer is to let him have any more power." Riju agreed with his actions. "For now, Link? He is certainly weak enough, he'll take some days to recover."
"Right. We have another duty during that time, getting our people figured out," Sidon said. "While most Zora have gone back, the younger are still here, unable to move. Their parents also stayed. We don't prefer housing per say, but we usually dwell underneath something together, sprawled out with room."
"Hudson is here to stay because of Mattison. He's our finest builder, he might know what to do for that." They were right. Clover didn't look good. If he wanted to kill Princess Zelda, he would have, and he had no other power besides his time bubble. He couldn't even teleport.
Still. "If one of you wants to go home, I would appreciate having an extra eye on Zelda?"
"Once we get our people settled out," Riju said, "I'm sure someone will honor your request, but I still have many vai to figure out too. They are not used to man, and are just hiding around corners right now."
Right, vai's were super timid. The warriors would be fine, but not the others at first.
"Gorons like it hot, Link. It doesn't get nearly hot enough out here. It's a nice spot to vacation, but after awhile, they aren't going to be so happy," Yunobo warned him. "We can be away from heat, some strange ones even prefer it, but most don't."
"We don't have any access to lava or volcanoes," Link told him. Another thing to figure out later.
"The Rito that stayed with their young are just hiding in the trees of basically the cemetery area," Tulin told Link. "We like being high. For now, that will work. We like it chillier too, but this is okay. For now."
For now. For now. Everyone had to settle right now for now, because there homes were gone. Even the people of Hateno weren't happy. For now, their homes were being overrun with strangers. They were sharing all their food with strangers.
Villagers liked a few strangers, but they were often set in their ways of doing things too. For now, they weren't complaining.
"We should check out Kakariko Village," Tulin said. "I had the Rito come here since I follow you Link, but that area would be better for them."
"It is a particular tribe, but I guarantee they aren't going to be able to keep it that way for long. Not everyone can just stay here," Riju said to Link.
Right. Link went ahead and saw Impa and Purah. He was leaving them in charge while they checked out how the whole area looked that they owned.
"I'll just follow through the trees," Tulin insisted.
"I'll just roll behind you slower," Yunobo agreed.
"I'll take a horse," Riju stated.
"I'll take a horse too, Link!" Sidon seemed excited. "Show me how you wrangle these fantastic beasts!"
Once Link got three horses, they were all off in their usual form of travel. Link spotted where the Rito were first. More isolated, but the view was terrible. Who wanted to live above such a tragic area?
As they moved onwards they started to run into the gorons. For now, most wanted to curl up as rocks against the mountains. The closer to nature they could be the better they would feel. It wouldn't account for heat though.
"Be careful in the next area," Riju said. "I believe a place like is where all the-"
An old lady, an old man, just a ton of commoners that looked simple.
"We know you are all Yiga and we are not in the mood!" She commanded. "Are you going to take on four sages to play a trick?"
They all left out of the way with a grumble as they continued downward. More Gorons. Some Rito perched higher, but not many.
Then, Kakariko. Just as overrun with strangers in houses and eating.
"Link!" Paya's shy attitude had to waver. "I was hoping you would come soon. Where is Princess Zelda?"
"Gone, for now," he admitted. As always though, he'd find a way to get her back. "How are things here?"
"There are some Rito up in the cliff. They seem to like it there. Some Zora are in the waterfall area. There's only a couple of Goron here at the moment, and actual Hyleans have been invited to stay in the village kindly. For now," she added. "Please tell me there is a plan to all of this?"
"Older than 100 can leave whenever they want, and their memory will be reverted to the time bubble's spot," Link explained. "Less than 100 can't leave."
"That will help some? That won't help a lot of people though, on the ground, sharing our food and water," she pointed out. "We are a sacred tribe."
"I know Paya," Link said.
"And Vai are shy-"
"And Zoras need water and shelter-"
"And gorons love heat!"
"And Rito like it colder and higher, much higher."
"We all have our problems right now," Link pointed out. "We need to work together. For now? This is the Kingdom."
"This is Link's Kingdom," Riju just had to add. "He married Zelda, and we are on his lands."
"You married Princess Zelda?!" Paya was shocked. "When?"
"Not too long ago, the lovers eloped," Riju smirked.
"It wasn't like that," Link corrected her. "It was just a smart idea." Still? Like it or not, it was his kingdom too. It didn't feel any different though, he always protected the kingdom the best he could.
"Then, I concede and listen to you," Paya agreed.
"I concede and listen to you as well," Sidon said. "Right now, I have no Zora's Domain."
"No Gerudo. I concede and listen," Riju stated.
"Not even close to Goron City, not that I ran it, but I leave it up to you Link," Yunobo added too.
"I don't run things. I'm just a kid," Tulin said, "but I'll lead them as the Sage of Wind, and encourage them to go where you say, Link."
Link tried to hide his sigh. All the powers conceded to him for now. They all knew, just as well as him, this wouldn't be solved in a day. They needed Zelda, she needed to remember, she needed to get to Castle Town rock ruins and hold his hand to tether her there.
None of that was happening anytime soon. "How far does it extend past the cliffs?"
"About as far as you see," Paya said. "Maybe a hundred feet? Then the border sets in. You can barely see it, you must be careful. We tried to add markings as best we could so we didn't cross into it."
"Tulin, go check it out, and then see if it's something your people would like." Link watched him take off up high. He soared around a little while and came back.
"It's not any colder, but it is up higher and isolated. It'll do for now, Link. It's at least better than hanging around the ruins," he said, also hating the other location. "I will tell them to come here." Tulin took off.
Okay, Ritos taken care of. Check. "Yunobo, how long will the Gorons be fine without heat?" Link asked.
"Months. It's going to start feeling really grungy after a couple of days though," he remarked. "They are good for now, Link."
Well? They had just about every Hylean there, maybe one of them knew about heating?
The Yiga chose their spot, and he wasn't messing with it. The Zoras might be better off in Kakariko, the way the waterfall sprawled out below where people walked might make it easier to build some kind of roofing? There also weren't as many zoras, mainly younger ones with parents.
"Sidon, do you think your people would like it here better?" Link went over toward the circular water area. "it's deeper."
"A roof would be easier to construct as well," Sidon agreed. "Masterful idea, Link!" he cheered. "I believe the Zoras would be quite content. For now."
Right. Link looked toward Riju. "I don't know where you want to put your vai, Riju. I might technically be Prince, but I'm more of a fighter. Zelda does this kind of stuff."
"We are like Hylean, except we only engage with women until we are ready to get married," Riju said. "Anywhere but within the throes of Hyleans, Link. Maybe we could divide Hyleans into men and women between Kakariko and Hateno?"
"Oh, I'm sorry? But, horrible idea," Paya said. "Kakariko villagers wouldn't leave Kakariko."
"Right, or families. Men and women have families too." Okay? "Maybe housing out in the middle of . . ."
"As long as they keep hiding, they will be fine until you know the spot. They are fine around Gorons. Although Gorons say they are male-"
"We are!" Yunobo confirmed.
"They are actually neither man or woman, so Gerudo has always allowed them entrance," Riju finished.
"Okay. Then, tell them to head outward pass the entrance to Fort Hateno." That's where the Gorons lived. "If anyone needs shelter from bad weather though, everyone should have a safe spot."
"I will tell my people that." Paya bowed. "Thank you for helping, Link."
He didn't help much. Not much at all. He needed Zelda there. "Paya, do you know why Zelda would refer to me as her Silent Knight before she left?"
"No idea," she admitted. "Sorry."
Yeah, he was afraid of that.
Zelda. What was she trying to tell him? What was he supposed to do?
