Chapter 2: The plot - part 2
It was six in the morning, and Stitch wrote a note for Lilo telling her that he went out for a walk around town and he'll be back soon. So he left it taped on the door and left the house. Once he made it to town, he looked around to see if any of the kids would be a good friend for Lilo, but after hours of searching, none of the kids around Lilo's age seemed like they would be the right one. But after hours of searching, he couldn't find anyone who would be the right kind of friend for Lilo. Stitch's ear dropped to the ground as he sadly was making his way home until he had to jump out of the way of an incoming. As he watched it pass, he saw a middle-aged man driving the car and a boy who looked slightly older than Lilo. Stitch watched as they drove off, and he decided to chase after the car, but his body just reacted and wanted to chase after them.
Stitch: I don't know why, but I should go after them. I feel that if I don't, I'll regret it." He thought, slightly confused.
Stitch followed them for a few minutes until they stopped at the Birds of Paradise Hotel. He watched as they parked and exited the vehicle with their suitcases and went inside to check in. But before the boy followed his Dad, he saw what looked like a dog walk up to him and sit right beside him. The boy looked at him curiously as he had never seen a dog like that before.
The boy: "What kind of dog is he? I have never seen a dog like that before. Maybe I should introduce myself to the little fellow?" He thought to himself.
The boy: "Uh, hi." He said to Stitch.
Stitch: "Bark." He said back.
The boy was a little nervous but decided to place his right hand on the blue alien and proceed to gently rub his head while Stitch chose to move towards him a little closer and lick him in the face. It was causing the boy to stumble back as he wiped away Stitch's drool from his face.
The boy: "Ew, that was gross. Uh, I forgot to introduce myself. Hi, my name is Steven Universe." "You wanna shake hands?" He asked
Stitch placed his paw on Steven's hand and shook his hand.
Steven smiled as Stitch happily smiled back.
Greg: "Hey Steven, I booked a hotel room, so what's been keeping you, Little Man?" He asked.
Steven: "I found a cool-looking dog, Dad. Can we keep him?" He asked
Stitch was a little surprised that Steven considered having him as a pet. While Steven was talking to his Dad, he took a good look at the boy so he could analyze him.
Stitch: "Hmmm, judging from our interaction before his Dad showed up, his personality is optimistic, caring, outgoing and friendly." "He could be the right friend for Lilo. All I can do now is wait for them to see my collar." He thought as he watched Steven talk to his Dad.
Greg: "That depends, Steven. Did you check to see if the dog has a collar on its neck?" He questioned.
Steven looked towards Stitch and noticed a red collar with a yellow tag on his neck. He embarrassedly rubbed the back of his neck as he smiled back at his Dad.
Steven chuckles nervously.
Steven: "I didn't notice the collar, but what does that mean anyway?" He questioned.
Greg: "It means he has an owner schtu-ball; let me take a look at the little fella so we can take him to his owner." He said as he walked over to Stitch and checked his collar.
Greg: "Now let's see, His name is Stitch." He informs Steven.
Steven: "Stitch?" He questioned.
Greg: "Don't like the name, huh?" He asked
Steven: "No, I like that name." "I think the name works for him." He replied.
Stitch gave Steven a smile, who gladly smiled back.
Greg: "And his owner is-
Greg stopped talking to Steven as he stared at the name on the back of the tag.
Greg: "Pelekai, Hmmm, I think I know these people, Steven." He said with a familiar tone.
Steven: "You do?" He asked.
Greg: "Yeah, I know who these people are. I was friends with their daughter back in the day before I graduated junior high." He informed.
Steven: "Was she a close friend of yours?" He questioned
Greg: "Oh, we go way back." "But it's been a while. I'm not sure she would remember me, but it wouldn't hurt to pay her a little visit. He said, a little excited.
Greg got a taxi, and he, Steven, and Stitch entered the vehicle, taking them to the Peleki residence. The drive would take a while, so Steven decided to play with Stitch for a little bit.
After a while, the taxi reached their destination. They left the cab, and Greg paid the driver before he drove off. Greg stared at the house in surprise while Steven stared at it with stars in his eyes.
Steven: "It almost looks like my house." He thought.
Greg led Steven and Stitch upstairs and brought them to the front door. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer. After a few moments, someone came and opened the door. Greg and Steven then met a young woman with olive eyes, black hair that reached a little past her shoulders, and brown skin. She wore a pinkish-beige short-sleeved belly shirt with a heart design, blue jean shorts, white socks, and brown hiking boots. Her name is Nani Pelekai.
Nani: "Hello, can I help you?" She asked
Greg took a good look at the young woman. The old memories that Greg wanted to remember refused to make themselves known, but he then vaguely remembered a little girl he used to hang out with sometimes.
Greg: "Nani, is that you?" He asked
Nani looked at the older and instinctively remembered him from when she was small.
Nani: "Greg, hey." She said as she hugged him gently. Greg hugged her back, happy to see his old friend.
Greg: "It's been too long; how have you been?" He asked.
Nani: "I've been doing great, and who's that kid with you? Are you babysitting?" She asked, noticing Steven behind him
Greg: "Oh, I almost forgot why we're here. You see, me and my son Steven found your, uh, dog, and we came to bring him back." He informed her.
Nani looked at Steven with slight surprise.
Nani: "Wow, you have a kid, and he looks just around Lilo's age." She stated.
Greg raised an eyebrow.
Greg: "You have a little sister?" He asked.
Nani shook her a little at the question, remembering that they hadn't seen each other in a long time.
Nani: "Yeah, I'm about to get her right now." Lilo, come down here. A friend and son found your dog." She shouted.
After a few seconds, they heard someone coming downstairs and making their way to the front door, and then a ten-year-old girl showed up behind Nani, who looked a little nervous about the boy in front of her.
Steven took a good look at her, looked towards Nani, and looked back towards Lilo.
Steven: "They kinda look alike." He thought to himself.
Stitch looks at Steven and Lilo, waiting to see who will talk first.
Greg: "Wow, your little sister looks like you, Nani." He implied.
Nani: "You think so?" She asked.
Greg: "Definitely." He answered.
Nani: "Why don't you come inside so we can catch up on old times?" She asked.
Greg: "Uh, sure, I don't see why not. What do you think, Steven?" He asked as he looked towards his son, who was still staring at Lilo, who was staring back at him nervously.
Steven: "Uh, sure, I don't see why not." He answered.
Greg and Steven followed Nani and Lilo inside; as they walked in, Steven took a good look inside the house. And it looked like a lovely home so far, but then Greg placed a hand on his son's shoulder, getting his attention.
Steven looked at Lilo, who was talking to Nani; Lilo glanced her eyes towards Steven for a second before looking back towards her sister, who was talking to her.
Nani: "He's an old friend of mine. Why don't you go ahead and show his son around and take some time to get to know him a little bit? You might make a good friend out of him, well?" She asked.
Stitch watched as Lilo and Steven turned their heads towards each other. Stitch waggled his tiny tail eagerly.
Stitch: "Come on, please say yes, he seems like a good friend." He thought in slight worry.
After a few moments, Lilo and Steven had made up their minds.
Lilo & Steven: "(inhaled deeply.) Sure." They said in unison. And they then looked at each other in surprise that they thought the same thing.
Greg: "Alright, go ahead, little ma, and have fun." He said as Steven gave him a nod and walked towards Lilo.
Once Steven was a couple of feet in front of Lilo, he extended his hand toward her and gave her a friendly smile.
Steven: "Hi, my name's Steven, Steven Universe, and who are you?" He asked.
Lilo smiled at him and shook his hand.
Lilo: "I'm Lilo; it's nice to meet you." She said in a friendly manner.
Lilo: "You wanna come play in my room?" She asked.
Steven gave her a nod.
Steven: "Sure, lead the way." He told her.
Lilo, Steven, and Stitch walked down the hallway to a door on the left. Lilo opened the door, and Steven was surprised to see a semi-spiraling case of stairs. Lilo and Stitch walked up the stairs first. Lilo motioned for Steven to follow, and he gladly did. After a moment, they made it to the top of the stairs, and Steven was surprised to see a nice-looking bedroom, a bunk bed, and some toys on the wooden floor.
Steven: "Wow, you guys got a nice room." He complimented.
Lilo: "Thanks. The top bunk is my bed, and the bottom is Stitch's bed." She told him.
Steven gave her a nod in understanding but found it a little odd that Stitch had a bed.
Steven: "Doesn't Stitch have a dog bed to sleep in?" He asked
Lilo looked to Stitch to see if it was a good idea to tell him who Stitch was. Once Stitch gave her a nod, letting her know that he was okay with it, she took a deep breath and calmed down her anxiety.
Lilo: "Well, you see, Stitch isn't an ordinary dog. It's a long story." She warned him.
Steven: "I have time." He informed her.
Back with Greg and Nani, they laughed as they talked about the past and some funny moments that happened in their life.
Greg: "Ha, ha, ha, good times, good times." He told her as she gave him a nod in agreement.
Nani: "Yeah, but let's not forget what happened when you tried to surf without any lessons; that was a total wipeout, and when you walked back to the soar, a crab pinched your foot when you weren't paying attention to your surroundings. I swear, you screamed like a baby at how painful it was." She said, trying to grin before laughing at that memory.
Greg: "Hey, I was trying to impress that girl; uh, what was her name again?" He asked.
Nani: "You mean Kate? She wasn't even into you like Greg." She told him.
Greg: "Hey, it won't hurt to show her how cool I am." He said, laying back on the chair, pointing his index finger towards her, and clicking his tongue.
Nani: "Oh, sure, you looked cool when that wave made you fall in the ocean like that, heh, heh." She said, laughing a little at Greg's embarrassment.
Greg let out a little chuckle because, looking back at the moment, it was funny. But he had a question he wanted to ask her.
Greg: "Uh, by the way, Nani, there's been something I've been meaning to ask you, and it's about Lilo's Dog." He told her.
Nani looked at him, slightly nervous about his question.
Nani: "What is it?" She asked.
Greg: "Is that thing a dog?" He asked
Greg: "Cause I've seen a lot of dogs, and I'm pretty sure the thing is not a dog, so I want you to be honest with me here. What is that thing? And what happened to your parents? I haven't seen them since we arrived. But you don't have to tell me if you don't feel comfortable telling me anything yet." he informed her.
Nani thought about this for a few minutes before giving him an answer. But she ultimately decided to tell him what had happened since the last time they saw each other.
Nani: "Alright, I'll tell you everything, but it's a long story." She warned him
Greg: "Don't worry; I can check out the sights tomorrow." He reassured her.
Back with Lilo, Stitch, and Steven.
Lilo had explained everything that had transpired ever since experiment 626 came into her life, as Stitch helped her define by adding a few pieces of information about him, Jumba, and Pleakley.
Lilo: "...And after that, we've allowed Jumba and Pleakley to live with me, Stitch, and Nani since they couldn't go back home, and the rest is history." She said, finishing her explanation to Steven.
Steven: "W-wow, that was a pretty cool/amazing and interesting story, Lilo. But how are you so calm after finding out that aliens exist?" He asked as Lilo just shrugged.
Lilo: "Don't get me wrong, I was surprised and shocked simultaneously to find out that my friend was an alien, and I was even more surprised that an evil alien scientist created him to destroy everything he touches." She says as Stitch's ears go down in sadness at what she says, and he sighs as he bows his head somberly.
Lilo: "...But after Stitch and I had a heartfelt talk, I realized how much Stitch had changed since his first day on earth. Sure, he did originally come to Earth to try and destroy it, and maybe he was using me and Nani as hostages. Still, after staying on Earth for a couple of days, it changed Stitch's personality drastically from an out-of-control planet-destroying monster to a king, caring, loyal, best friend that I love with all my heart." She said while hugging Stitch and rubbing her cheek against his, and Stitch started feeling better as he hugged her back.
Stitch: "Thanks, Lilo." He said as Lilo nodded and let go of him as she returned to Steven.
Lilo: "How are you so calm after everything I told you?" She asked.
Steven: "Well, believe it or not, I'm alien, uh…half alien on my mom's side." He explained.
Lilo stared at him in complete surprise, but then she raised an eyebrow because she started to find it hard to believe he was half-alien.
Lilo: "Prove it, 'cause how do I know that you're not being sarcastic so that you can make fun of me? " She asked with slight aggravation on her face.
Steven didn't understand why she was offended when he told the truth. But he calmly stood up, lifted the front of his shirt, and saw a gem where his naval should be. Lilo and Stitch stared at the gem in shock, but Lilo started to show a sad expression and felt terrible that she acted like that toward him.
Steven: "If I was making it up, shouldn't this be where my naval should be?" He asked, giving her a friendly smile.
Lilo lowered her head and looked to the floor.
Lilo: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to act like that. I'm just a little suspicious around other kids when they interact with me." She informed him
Steven had a sympathetic expression when he heard her say that.
Steven: "You've been having difficulty finding friends, huh?" He asked.
Lilo silently nodded before looking him in the eye
Lilo: "Way before Stitch showed up, I had difficulty fitting in with other kids my age. They would either make fun of me, avoid me, or pick on me every chance they got. When I brought Stitch to school once for show and tell, I thought that it would help me make some friends, but that just made them want to not interact with me altogether. And even today, I'm labeled an outcast, especially in hula class. The girls in my class would do the same thing cause they think I'm some kind of weirdo. Steven, if you want to be friends, I would gladly accept you as one, but if you don't want to, I won't say anything." She said while lowering her head in a depressed tone.
Steven started to look even more sympathetic for the younger girl because he knew how it feels to be so different that you didn't fit in with everybody else. He had some friends but not anyone he could share common ground with when it came down to extraterrestrial life. He sat back down on the floor and gave her a gentle pat on the head, which surprised Lilo out of her depressed state as she lifted her head to face Steven again, and he had a toothy grin.
Steven: "You don't seem weird to me, I would like to be your friend, what do you say we start over and get to know each other?" He asked.
Lilo was surprised, she wasn't expecting him to say that, she couldn't help but give him a friendly smile and nod in response to what he said.
Lilo: "Sure, I would like that." She said, giving him a toothy smile.
Steven: "So what do you like to watch on TV?" He asked.
Back with Nani and Greg.
After Nani had explained to Greg about what happened to their parents, all the way to how they adopted Stitch and the remodeling of their house.
Nani: "And that's what happened." She finished her explanation.
Greg felt really bad for Nani and Lilo, he had no idea they went through all of that. But he couldn't help but be proud of her and what she had done since what happened to their parents
Greg: "Nani, I'm so sorry you went through all of that, but at the end of it all, but even after all of that. You really persevered through it all, and sacrificed a lot to do what you could to take care of your little sister. I gotta say, I'm proud of you." He said, giving her a friendly smile.
Nani: "Thanks, now I have a question I wanted to ask, it's about your wife. Who is she? I'd like to know who the lucky girl is to have married you." She asked.
Greg: "Yeah, well about tha-
Lilo: "No jungle fury." She yelled.
Steven: "No, S.P.D." He shot back.
Greg and Nani raised an eyebrow at the sudden yelling coming from upstairs.
Back Lilo, Steven and Stitch.
Lilo: "Jungle fury, deals with ancient evil spirits and they take down very strong fighters along the way!" She explained.
Steven: "Yeah, but S.P.D handles intergalactic threats, while also dealing with some of the aliens down on earth and meeting other humans with unique abilities!" He countered.
Lilo: "Yeah, well at least Jungle Fury does a lot better at knowing hand to hand combat, while the S.P.D rangers are lacking in that department." She implied.
Steven just crossed his arms and pouted, but then he came up with something that would maybe help him win this argument. But before he could say anything Stitch said something that would make them both angry.
Stitch: "You two are completely wasting your time debating over this, especially since neither are any better than Wild Force." He informed them.
Lilo and Steven slowly turned their heads towards Stitch with both of their faces were showing silent fury.
Lilo: "What did you just say?" She asked, trying her best not to lose her cool.
Back down stairs.
Greg and Nani didn't hear anything from the three of them upstairs. Until after a few moments of silence, but then they heard the three of them get into a full on argument about the franchise. Which made Nani and Greg do nothing but laugh at how the kids are acting towards each other.
Greg: "Ha, ha, ha. I wasn't expecting that." He said calming down
Nani: "Heh, heh. That makes one of us, I thought Lilo would one day meet someone who has the same interest as she does, but I didn't think it would be your son." She told him with a smirk.
After a few minutes, the arguing from the kids finally subsided.
Greg: "Besides that I was about to tell you how I met his mother. Remember that message I emailed you the last time we spoke?"
Nani: "You mean that you went off to travel to become a Rock Star, yeah I remember that, why?" She asked.
Greg: "Well, after I dropped out of college and left my family, to become a one-man known as "Mr. Universe". But as I went on to try that, I haven't really had an easy time with the music business, but when I made it to Beach city I thought I would attract a lot of people to come see me perform. But no one showed except her, and we were always together after that, until she gave up her physical form to bring him into the world. I don't know what a magic lady like her saw in a plain old dope like me. And it has been me, Steven and the gems since." He explained.
Nani: "So, would you mind explaining to me who these gems are?" She asked
Greg just smiled and gave her shrug.
Greg: "Sure, I think knowing about these aliens will be numb to you, since you already have aliens living in the house with you." He told her before he started to tell her about the gems.
Back with Lilo, Stitch and Steven.
Stitch pushed the button on the top bunk of Lilo's bed and the roof opened, letting them have a complete view of the starry night sky. Lilo, Stitch and Steven laid down in a circle and took in the view of the night sky. After a few minutes of enjoying the site, Lilo decided now would be the best time to ask Steven a question.
Lilo: "Hey, Steven?" She called.
Steven: "Yeah?" He asked.
Lilo: "How long are you staying in Kauai?" She asked.
Stitch decided to just let them talk to each other while he enjoyed the view, but he will be listening to their conversation.
Steven thought about this for a moment, and then he remembered what his Dad told him.
Steven: "Two weeks and a few days." He informed her.
Lilo smiled a little at that information, so she placed a finger on her chin and thought about how they should hang out for the next 18 days, after a moment she came up with an idea.
Lilo: "How about from Tomorrow to Thursday we hang out and I show you around a few places, how does that sound?" She asked.
Steven had a big toothy grin on his face at the idea.
Steven: "I'd like that, but what about Friday?" He asked.
Lilo shook her head.
Lilo: "No, cause Friday I have hula lessons." She told him.
Steven: "I can ask my Dad and see if I can go with you on Friday." He said back.
Lilo: "I don't think you'll like it a whole lot." She told him.
Steven: "No, I might enjoy it, who knows, maybe I'll meet some interesting people too." He said back.
Lilo was a little worried about having him come with her to her hula lesson, but she thought about it for a moment and had a small smile on her face thinking that maybe it'll be okay.
Stitch smiled and fist pumped to himself at what he accomplished.
Stitch: "Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha. Mega found Lilo a friend." He thought to himself.
Little did the three of them know, there was a mysterious dark figure lurking around the forest, when it made it over the edge of the hill it looked across the river and saw the Pelekai house and the creature decided to make a slow and quiet approach to the house.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, please fav, follow and leave a review about what you all think about this chapter and what your thoughts about how Lilo and Stitch met Steven. And I know you guys are interested about the creature that spotted their house, well all I can tell you is this.
