Next morning there was again a soft knock at the cabin door. Jack was already up, making coffee and breakfast. He strolled towards the door and when he opened it he had his arms full of Cassie immediately.

"Hi Dad!"

"Hey Cass! What are you doing here this early?"

"The boys called me last night to tell me they would pick me up and while they didn't know how long their mission would take they beamed me up this morning so that I could get here first thing. I believe it was Daniel's idea of giving me the opportunity to meet my little sister alone before they'll join us."

"That sounds like Daniel alright. Sam's dressing right now and must be out in a few minutes. Coffee?"

"That'd be great, thanks. So, how are you settling in? Is it strange to have a baby again? And how did you do it by the way? Being alone with Sam during labor must have been scary." The young woman asked him curious.

"We're settling in great, she's a lovely baby. Yes, now and then there are memories of Charlie popping up from when he was this little, but she's her own person so it's not as if I compare a lot. It's more like nice memories and being thankful that I'm able to experience something like this again. And it was scary as hell, I didn't know I could do it. I mean, Sam was the one doing the hard work, but holy shit I was scared of losing them both if something was to happen. And like always it was Sam who supported me and gave me strength to do it and not freak out. I don't know how she does it over and over again, encouraging me when it's me who should support her. I did things I didn't know I was capable of. When Sam asked me to check if the cord was wrapped around Janet's neck before the next push I was petrified. When I touched her it was magical, I knew I was in love with this little one, but only in this moment I recognized how much." Jack told her as the proud father that he was.

"Wow, I couldn't imagine you doing this either. I'm really glad it turned out well and you're feeling good. I'm very happy for you." Cassie said and hugged him sincerely.

Sam came into the room, carrying a small bundle. She had a big smile on her face when she saw Cassie.

"Cass, what are you doing here already? Thought you'd come with the guys. It's great that you're here before them." She gave her a hug and placed the baby into Cassie's waiting arms. "Here, meet your sister! Janet, this is your big sister Cassie, be nice to her."

Cassie was stunned, she hadn't had a baby in her arms in a long time. She used to babysit, but that was years ago. Instantly she felt connected to her and couldn't turn her gaze away from Janet.

"She's beautiful!" Cassie whispered in awe.

Sam made her way towards the coffee machine. She wrapped her free arm around Jack and watched their girls.

"You're aware that we won't get her back soon as long as Cassie is here, right?" Jack whispered loudly and chuckled.

"Oh she'll return her when it's time to feed her, until then she can have her. It gives us time to actually have breakfast together." Sam replied happily. "Did you already have breakfast Cassie, or do you want something to eat too?"

"I've had something with the boys on the Prometheus, so I'm good watching her while you eat. And you're right. I won't give her away anytime soon. But I'll sit with you."

After breakfast they dressed warmly to go outside. It was time for Lucky to take a longer walk as he got the last few days. The snow wasn't nearly that bad as it had been and Sam and Jack also longed to stretch their muscles. As nice as it was to be snuggled up in the cabin they needed some fresh air. With the things they got from Mary there was also a baby sling and Sam decided for the lack of a stroller and the snowy environment it was best to wrap her baby close to her. Her jacket was big enough as it fitted around her belly as well to fit them both and hold them warm.

Bundled up in warm clothes they went outside, Lucky ran back and forth, enjoying the snow, trying to catch the snow balls Jack threw at him. Even the sun came out for a bit, transforming the surroundings into a glittering snowy landscape.

"I can understand why you don't want to come home soon. I always liked the cabin in winter and it's a perfect hideaway for the first few weeks as a family." Cassie told them.

"That it is. It's not as if we planned this, but I like how it turned out. In a few weeks we'll drive home so that we're there for Christmas. In the meantime the Doc here can do the check ups for Janet, she told me when she came by yesterday. She's also taking care of the birth certificate, so that when everything is in order we can go home."

"Great! Will everyone be there for Christmas? The boys? Uncle Mark and the family?"

"Yes, the boys will be earthside unless something happens and Mark told me yesterday that they've already booked their hotel. Why? You sound nervous!" Sam asked worriedly.

"A bit! You know it's the first time you get to know Ben. He's really important to me, you know?"

"And I'm sure everyone will behave and be nice to him." Sam told her, eyeing Jack with a warning gaze.

"Of course we'll be nice. When haven't we ever?" He asked, but instantly received the same questioning look from both women. "Okay, okay. I know what you think about. I promise we behave and won't scare him away. We'll be on our best behavior, because it's Christmas and we love you."

"Thank you, Jack!" Cassie kissed him on the cheek, before she got down to reach for the snow, forming a snowball and throwing it in Jack's direction.

Not long and a snowball fight was in progress. Jack against Cassie, Lucky jumping around with them. Sam looked down at her daughter, grateful for her family.

"I bet next year they will already drag you into the fight with them. When it's not your sister, you're Daddy will for sure."

They returned to the cabin in time to feed Janet. Jack went straight into the kitchen to start on lunch and to feed Lucky.

Cassie sat down beside Sam, always in wonder to witness someone breastfeed. On her homeplanet she did this when her real Mom used to feed her little siblings. She didn't think about them that often, but once in a while a memory turned up. But now she was able to look back to the happy days she had on Hanka.

"Do you know when the guys are going to be here?" Sam asked her, interrupting her thoughts.

"They said around lunchtime if nothing's getting in their way."

"I wonder where we will put them to sleep..." Sam said, lost in thought.

"I don't think they will stay, Sam. Don't worry. We talked about it and we all agreed to give you three time for yourselves. We just wanted to say hello to Janet and get to meet her, but we understand that the first days are special and even if we're family, you should have this time to yourselves. Tonight we'll beam back home and see you again on Christmas."

Sam didn't know what to say, she really had the best friends and family in the world. A bright light filled the room as soon as Sam had finished nursing Janet. She looked up to see Daniel, Teal'c and Cam standing in her living room. Each one had a big grin on his face when they saw little Janet for the first time.

"Sam, Cassie, dinner is ready..." Jack shouted as he entered the room as well and stopped in the middle of the sentence when he saw they were not alone anymore. "We'll, hello guys, good that I made some more pasta then. Come on before it gets cold, you can cuddle Janet afterwards."

Teal'c bowed his head and smiled at both, Sam and Jack, before he went to the dining table. Cam stopped shortly in front of Sam and kissed her cheek.

"Good job, Momma! She's beautiful."

"Thanks Cam!" She smiled and watched Cam hugging Cassie while following Teal'c.

"I don't care what Jack says, I want to cuddle her immediately!" Daniel told Sam and she placed Janet carefully into his arms. "That's worth eating a cold meal! Congratulations Sam! Cam's right, you did an amazing job. She's a mini you! Beautiful!" He kissed her on the other cheek and Sam drew him in for a hug.

"Come on, I'm hungry. You can keep her while eating. It's not difficult to eat while cuddling her."

Everyone sat down around the table, pasta and sauce was passed around until the plates were filled with food. It was noisy, there was laughter, dishes rattle, their friends chatted loudly and in all this chaos Sam's eyes found Jack's across the table just to see his face beaming just like hers. It was perfect!

Just how they loved it. Surrounded by family, everyone happy and a baby in between, that apparently could sleep with all these noises.

Sam mouthed a silent "I love you!" towards Jack.

"I love you more!" was his silent response.
