With utmost care, Hiccup lifted the saddle and examined it closely, ensuring that none of the straps were twisted or tangled. He then proceeded to adjust its fit, making sure that it was snug enough to prevent any unwanted movements during their ride, while also ensuring that Luna could move comfortably. He was keenly aware of the importance of a well-fitted saddle, one that would not only keep him safe but also his beloved Luna. Satisfied with his adjustments, he double-checked everything, making certain that Luna was not only comfortable but also ready for the exciting adventure that lay ahead.

"What do you think?" Hiccup asked as he stepped back to admire his work.

Luna looked over and noticed that the saddle wasn't practical for stealth. "It does fit nicely, but it isn't too bad. However, I don't see it as being very practical for me if I need to disappear."

"Don't worry," Hiccup reassures her. "When we're done, I'll take it back with me for some adjustments. Or I can always just leave it hidden here somewhere."

"I guess that's fair," Luna said and nodded her head. "Are you coming?"

Hiccup smiled as he approached and leaped right on top of Luna. He then tried to prepare himself for what was going to happen.

"Okay, let's just take this nice and easy, just a few laps around the cove," said Hiccup. "Just to help you get used to it."

"I understand," Luna promised. She then spread her wings to prepare for takeoff. "Are you ready?"

Hiccup looked over the area and wasn't sure if he was ready for this. "Uh, I'm not..."

Luna didn't even wait for a response; she took off into the sky, her wings flapping steadily as she gained altitude. She could feel the cool breeze against her feathers, and she closed her eyes, enjoying the sensation of freedom. As she soared, she maneuvered gracefully, using the currents of air to keep herself aloft. She didn't want to use any more updraft than necessary, wanting to make the flight as smooth and comfortable as possible for Hiccup, who was attached to her.

As Luna soared through the air, she felt the wind rushing past her and the sun warming her scales. She was enjoying her flight when she suddenly noticed a wall of the cove looming ahead of her. Reacting quickly, she made a sharp turn to avoid it. However, in her haste, she momentarily forgot that Hiccup was flying with her and he was sent tumbling off her back, hurtling towards the lake below.

Luna's heart pounded in her chest as she let out a panicked shriek. She knew she had to act fast. She quickly turned around and dove towards the water, her powerful wings propelling her forward. She hit the surface of the lake with a loud splash and disappeared beneath the water's surface in search of Hiccup. The lake was murky and dark, but Luna's keen eyesight allowed her to see through the water. She searched frantically for Hiccup, her heart racing with fear.

She found him quickly; his body was sinking slowly toward the bottom of the lake. Luna's powerful tail propelled her towards him, and she grabbed him with her front talons, pulling him to the surface. She lifted him out of the water and her powerful wings beat against the water as she supported him. He was gasping for air, his chest heaving, but she could tell he wasn't seriously hurt. She kept him close, her wings shielding him from the worst of the wind, and together they made their way back to the shore.

Hiccup coughed up as he lay on the ground and groaned. "Okay, I should have considered making tight turns a possibility." He then saw that Luna was worried and saw she thought it was her fault; he scratched her nose. "It's okay, it was my stupid idea."

"Are you sure you're okay?" Luna asked him, inspecting him to make sure nothing was broken.

"I'm fine," Hiccup promised her. He caressed her head, unused to anyone being concerned for his safety or well-being. "Just a little washed up," he added, sighing and wondering what he could do to fix that. "I should add some sort of rope between the saddle and myself to keep us together."

"I'm sorry," said Luna, seeming to be upset with herself. "My instincts kicked in and I reacted. I should have remembered you were there."

"It's okay, not like you're used to having a human ride you." Hiccup tried to make light of her mistake. "And I was wondering, how often do dragons shed?"

"We shed every rotation," Luna answered him as she pawed at her face to get the water off, followed by her shaking herself to get it off. "You shed more often considering your transformation."

"That made some sense," Hiccup nodded as he picked up a few scales Luna had shed. "Well, I was thinking, if I collected enough of our scales, maybe I could use them."

"Use them?" Luna questioned, not sure if she understood him. "For what?"

"Well, I could use them for your saddle so it blends in when you disappear," Hiccup explained the possibilities. "And maybe if I use them right, I could use them to make myself some clothes for when I transform, instead of needing a spare change of clothes."

Luna nodded. "Well, is there anything else you would like to try?" she asked.

Hiccup wondered what else he could try. "Well, I don't want to try flying. But is there anything else that Night Furies can do?"

Luna showed off a gummy smile and knew that this was going to be a fun experience.

As Hiccup soared through the forest in his Night Fury form, Luna watched intently from above. She marveled at how Hiccup was adapting to his animalistic nature, his movements becoming more fluid and instinctual with each passing moment. The exhilaration of surpassing others in speed and power was something entirely new to Hiccup, and Luna could see the excitement in his eyes. Despite the breakneck speed at which they were traveling, Hiccup seemed to be in complete control, expertly maneuvering around trees and boulders with ease. It was fortunate that they were so far away from Berk, as it would be nearly impossible for anyone to track them down in this remote part of the forest. Luna felt a sense of pride watching Hiccup come into his own as a dragon, and she knew that great things were in store for him.

"Once you build enough speed, you should be able to glide over gaps in your path," Luna warned, showing Hiccup she also had a strong sense of hearing. "And you have one coming up now."

As Hiccup soared through the skies, he marveled at the breathtaking view spread out before him. His eyes were fixed on the horizon, and he could see far beyond what his normal vision allowed. Suddenly, he spotted a gap in the terrain ahead, and he decided to glide across it using his wings. However, as he opened his wings, he realized his mistake a little too late. One of his wings collided with a tree, sending him into a tailspin. As he careened out of control, Luna, his dragon companion, realized that he was in danger of flying off the cliff. Without hesitation, she flew down and tackled him, stopping his momentum.

As Luna tackled Hiccup, they hurtled downward, tumbling over each other and rolling down a hill of grass. This was a much better outcome than what could have happened if they had gone over the cliff. Finally, they came to a stop, and Hiccup transformed back into his human form. As he climbed out of the grass, he groaned a little from the fall. He wasn't hurt, but the impact had taken its toll on him. Despite the discomfort, he was grateful to Luna for saving him from a potentially fatal accident.

"Well, it seems like I still have to get used to these wings," Hiccup said as he rubbed his shoulder where his wings would be.

But when he didn't hear from Luna, he was confused about what was going on. As he moved a few pieces of grass aside, he found Luna playing in the grass. She seemed so much more relaxed than Hiccup had ever seen her, and he was wondering why that was. He looked down and plucked a bit of the grass to get a whiff of it; when he smelled the scent, he had to admit the scent was intoxicating and even made him feel a bit more relaxed. Luna lay on her back, tongue wagging, in complete bliss.

"Luna?" Hiccup guessed, knowing that since he was a human, he wouldn't have the same effects as the dragons. "I think I lost you..." He decided to just leave her be and backed off. "Should I..?" He wasn't sure what to do in this situation. "Well, I'll...see you tomorrow." However, he kept some of the grass with him to test his theory.

The next day, Hiccup was back in the arena, clutching a handful of the grass. The Gronckle was currently fighting with the other teens, specifically Astrid. While he stood there with the grass in his hand, the Gronckle charged at him. When the Gronckle attempted to attack, Hiccup grabbed its head as instructed, then discreetly pulled a fistful of 'dragon-nip' and pressed it up to the Gronckle's nose. It immediately stopped struggling and went weak in the knees. Hiccup dropped the handful of dragon nip to the ground. The Gronkle went down with it, whimpering and blissful.

"Ooh, I love it!" the Gronckle exclaimed.

Hiccup said. "I figured you would."

"You...understand me, human?" The Gronckle asks.

"Yeah. It's a long story." Hiccup whispered. "And I don't even understand half of it."

From Gobber and the other teens' point of view, Hiccup appeared to be controlling the Gronckle with no more than a limp arm. They didn't even seem to register the quiet conversation he was having with it right in front of them.

Getting out of the arena, Hiccup started to walk away from the crowd of people who were starting to form. However, he didn't manage to escape the teens, who chased Hiccup to comment on his work in the ring. They were amazed at how fast he had actually managed to take down dragons twice his size. If only they understood the secret.

"That was amazing!" Snotlout commented.

"I've never seen a Gronckle do that before," Fishlegs said.

Hiccup knew if he wanted to sneak off to get to Luna, he needed to ditch these guys. "Uh, I left my axe back in the ring," he said, backing off and almost bumping into Astrid. "You guys go on ahead, I'll catch up with you later!"

Once he got away from everyone, Hiccup met back up with Luna and tested out his aiming skills a little more. He didn't think he was quite ready for flying in this form yet, but training with his other skills is still better.

"You are getting some impressive aim." Luna complimented as Hiccup finished for the day. He shifted back into his human form where Luna noticed the pants he was wearing. "What are those?"

Hiccup looked down at his pants and chuckled. "Do you like them? I made them out of my scales when I shed." He then stretched his legs to show how flexible they were. "Figured it would help me so I wouldn't have to be naked if I ever needed to transform."

Luna looked a little confused but understood that nudity was a strange concept to humans. Well, they are naturally naked and don't require clothes.

"I suppose it would be best for both of us." Luna shrugged. "I don't understand why, but I suppose if it helps you relax."

"Try being a human for a day, then you'll understand." Hiccup dared as he scratched her neck.

Luna jolted when he scratched her neck and Hiccup flinched, thinking he did something wrong. But then he noticed that Luna was actually purring after being scratched. "Oh, you like that, huh?"

"Oh, yes, very much," Luna confirmed as Hiccup went back to scratching the area.

Hiccup chuckled as he kept scratching. "Well, what if I went a little lower?"

When Hiccup did just that and went to the front of his neck, Luna ended up gasping in delight as she fell to the ground. Hiccup was a little confused and even a little worried at first, but then he listened to Luna purr, which meant he must have found some sweet spot on a dragon's neck. Causing them to fall down not in pain but in pleasure.

The angry Deadly Nadder charges towards the recruits in the ring, while Astrid throws her axe towards it. But that didn't seem to harm the dragon much as she kept charging towards Astrid. She leaped out of the way as it then approached Hiccup.

Hiccup dropped his weapon to appear nonthreatening to the dragon. "Hey, it's, okay. I don't wanna hurt you."

"Then what do you want?" The Nadder didn't expect a response.

"I wanna help." Hiccup whispered, shocking the Nadder. "Yeah, I can understand you guys."

"How? Why?" The Nadder asks.

"I can't get into that right now." Hiccup said as he heard Astrid's battle cry, causing him and the dragon to turn and notice she was running in with a mace. He needed to act quickly or the Nadder could be harmed. "Sorry about this."

"About what?" The Nadder asks, just as Astrid moves in to strike. Hiccup performs his scratching technique. "Ooh, that feels good." And he pokes her neck, sending the Nadder down. "Ooh!"

Astrid and the other kids looked on from the sidelines in amazement. Everyone but Astrid seemed pleased. She seemed confused and just irritated that he was actually besting her in just about everything lately.

Later on, after a day of just messing around with Luna in the cove, Hiccup made his way to the Great Hall so he could eat. Hiccup sat down at an empty table to eat. The other recruits noticed him and moved over to his table to talk to him - leaving Astrid alone. Even some other members of the village ran over to compliment Hiccup and questioned how it was possible. Astrid only got more furious as now it seemed he was becoming a better dragon killer than she was.

Hiccup was currently at work on fixing part of the saddle when Luna approached him and looked at his work. Seemed he was working on fixing the handle that he would hold while she flew around. She wasn't entirely sure she understood how he felt this was going to help him understand how to fly but decided to leave him be.

Luna turned around when she spotted something on the ground watched it slightly move and began to make its way around the cave. "It's getting away!" She cried as she started to chase after it.

When Hccup lifted his head, he was surprised when he watched Luna chasing after the small light that his hammer was reflecting off the sunlight. He decided to have a little fun with her and started to move the light around, causing Luna to chase after it. Hiccup chuckled when he saw she just kept chasing it around like it was the most important thing in the world.

He then began to wonder if this is how all dragons reacted to it. Would make sense since most dragons wouldn't have had much contact with metal or know that it causes reflections like this. He would need to test this out next time he was at the arena. But he got to the current issue as he stood and dropped the hammer.

"Alright, let's get back to training." Hiccup said.

Luna stopped trying to locate the light and turned towards Hiccup.

Hiccup, in his magnificent Night Fury form, was sprinting through the dense woods with remarkable agility. He had been working hard to control his dragon side, and his efforts were bearing fruit. The forest was no longer a challenge for him, and he had learned to use his dragon instincts to locate other animals, including Luna, who was now almost invisible in her camouflage.

As he came across the gap once again, Hiccup managed to open his wings with ease this time and effortlessly glided over the gap. He came to a stop and turned towards Luna, who was watching him with a keen eye. She was impressed by his progress, which was both rapid and gradual at the same time. Hiccup's unwavering determination and willingness to learn had paid off, and his newfound mastery over his dragon nature was an inspiration to Luna. Maybe they could pull this off.

But she might also be getting too far ahead of herself.

Now Hiccup was back in the arena with all eyes currently on him as he waited to see what kind of dragon they were going to be facing today. He watched as Gobber lifted the gate for the new dragon they were facing.

"Meet the Terrible Terror!" Gobber cried.

They then watched as a much smaller door opened and a tiny dragon came crawling out. The Terrible Terror resembles a Common or Garden Dragon in appearance. It has an iguana-like body, two pairs of horns, one pair of wings, and a tail with a barbed tip. It comes in various colors, with green being the most common. Its physical attributes suggest that, despite the size difference, it is closely related to the Monstrous Nightmare. Its large yellow eyes and small size make it one of the most adorable species of dragons.

"Ha!" Tuffnut mocked it. "It's like the size of my-" That was when Tuffnut was taken down in a blur. The Terrible Terror tackled him quickly and started to bite his face. "Get it off! Get it off!"

Hiccup stops the Terrible Terror with the same light-patch trick he used earlier with Luna.

"Oh! I'm hurt, I am very much hurt!" Tuffnut cried.

The tiny dragon followed the light as Hiccup retreated the dragon back to its cage. The teens approach him yet again as Astrid looks on with suspicion. Tuffnut groaned as he stood up and rubbed his nose where the dragon bit him.

"Wow, he's better than you ever were," Tuffnut told Astrid.

Astrid furiously hurls her axe at a nearby tree. She notices Hiccup walking by in the distance. The two of them made eye contact for a couple of seconds before Hiccup started to walk off. He was carrying one of his trademark harnesses that he had fixed, and his dragon scales that he didn't need Astrid discovering.

Astrid snuck around some trees to try and stay with him, but Hiccup has been getting stronger with his animalistic skills, and knew she was following. So all he needed to do was a few maneuvers that Luna taught him and lost her in the woods.

Astrid grunted when she saw that he got away and huffed.

Hiccup straps a newly designed harness onto Luna. With Luna tied to a nearby post with a rope. Hiccup rides her in the air - while stationary with a chain connecting the two of them. Luna looks like a giant kite tied to a tree stump. This harness seems to work. He was glad that it was finally starting to work and tried to figure out how to maneuver with his tail. He turned to watch how Luna reacted to wind gusts with the tails.

"Alright, I think that I got the hang of this." Hiccup commented.

"Does that mean I can take this off now?" Luna asks, stretching her wings.

"Yeah, sure, I can-"

A strong gust of wind caused Luna to lose balance as she was thrown into the woods with Hiccup. When the two of them were flung from the cliff edge, they were smacked into a tree.

"Ow." Luna groaned as she stood up and shook herself. "Hiccup?" She started to look around to try and find him. "Hiccup?"

"Here!" Hiccup cried, allowing Luna to look and notice he was dangling on the chain. "I'm okay."

"Sorry," Luna said as she lowered herself so Hiccup could stand up.

Hiccup groaned when he then noticed that his chain was stuck with Luna, bent that he couldn't fix it without some tools. "Oh, great."

"What is it?" Luna asks.

"We need to fix this, otherwise we are going to be stuck with each other." Hiccup sighed. He wasn't going to transform while like this. "And the only way to do that is at the Forge."

"Forge?" Luna asks.

"It's where I make all my stuff." Hiccup recapped what it is. "And if you are spotted, they will kill you."

Luna gave him a bit of a look before camouflaging in front of him. Of course, she wasn't completely invisible as the saddle was clearly visible. Hiccup saw that would help them get into the forge, but it would need to be late at night so nobody saw him walking with a saddle following.

At the dead of night, Hiccup brought Luna to the edge of Berk where there was nobody around. Most people were asleep or on patrol for any dragons. When he spotted a patrol coming, Luna camouflaged and Hiccup leaned on the hut to make it seem he was there on purpose.

"Hiccup." The Viking greeted as he passed.

Hiccup waved at him calmly as he eyed the area to see nobody else was coming. Luna came out of hiding while Hiccup tried to lead her to the forge while she remained camouflaged. The last thing he needed was to be seen literally caught with a dragon. Making it to the forge, he started to get to work on getting them free.

While he did so, Luna accidentally kicked over a barrel, causing some noise. Astrid happened to be nearby and wondered what was going on. "Hiccup?"

Hiccup freezes. Then frantically tries to pry the ring off the saddle hook. It won't budge. He tried to use all of his strength, but there was no way he was going to get it off before Astrid approached.

"What are we going to do?" Luna whispered in fear, trying to curl up in the corner to hide.

"I'll think of something." Hiccup whispered. "Are you in there?" Astrid asks.

Too late - she's right outside. Astrid came walking along the outside of the Blacksmith's. Wanting to keep his Light Fury friend safe, Hiccup jumped out the window and closed the shutters behind him. Hiccup's harness line is stretched through the window, still attached to Luna's saddle.

"Astrid. Hey! Hi Astrid. Hi Astrid." Hiccup frantically said.

Astrid still seemed a little suspicious. "I normally don't care what people do, but you're acting weird." Then there was a thump from the blacksmith. "Well, weirder."

Luna spots a nearby sheep and makes a move toward it. As a result, Hiccup is suddenly pulled tight against the window shutters. He strikes a pose to compensate... then gets pulled through the shutters. Astrid ran closer so she could reopen them and found nothing but an empty stall. In the distance, Luna and Hiccup slip off unseen.

Hiccup and Luna landed back in the cove while Hiccup had the tools he needed to separate them. He sighed as he slid off of Luna and knew that they were so close to being caught. If Astrid had spotted them, there was no doubt a possibility it was going to end with the two of them fighting and he would have to hurt one of his friends...well, he wouldn't really call Astrid a friend. Once upon a time, he would have called her that, but recent years have proven what side she chose.

"Whew. That was close." Hiccup sighed.

"That female Viking." Luna was a little curious. "Who is she?"

Hiccup sighed. "She...was a friend." He tried to explain it to her. "When we were little, we used to be close. Then we got older, and she became determined to make Dragon Slaying her life, and I just got in the way when I became the Village mistake."

Luna approached her friend and purred. "I am sorry."

Hiccup smiled as he leaned into her touch. "Thanks, Luna. You're... you're really the only friend I have."

Luna and Hiccup found themselves on the ground in the midst of a chilly night. Hiccup, tired from the day's activities, decided it was as good a place as any to take a nap. Luna, sensing the cold, began to wrap her massive form around him, providing warmth and comfort to her companion.

As the two drifted off into slumber, something strange began to happen. Hiccup started to emit a soft, golden glow that illuminated the surrounding area. It was as if his body was undergoing some kind of metamorphosis, undergoing a mysterious transformation.

As the light continued to shine, it began to touch Luna, who was still wrapped around her friend. Suddenly, her body began to shrink, and she began to take on a more humanoid form. It was a sight to behold - the once-gargantuan dragon was now a much smaller, more human-like creature. In fact, she was human. She had long flowing white hair that reached her hips, which she now had, and was covering up most of her body. She had a Viking-like body structure and piercing green eyes from her dragon form.

Sleeping, Luna had no idea what kind of world she was going to wake up to the next day.
