Febuwhump Day Four: Obedience
Plot: Anakin is assigned to work with the Bad Batch instead of the 501st after his Knighting. When Omega is sent to Christophsis to be Obi-Wan's assistant, Anakin quickly realizes that she's Force sensitive, and she wants nothing more than to stay with her brothers. Taking her as a padawan is hardly something the Council will agree with, but that's not enough to stop him.
Author's Note: This is kinda sorta a role swap with Hunter in Rex's place and Omega in Ahsoka's. It was supposed to be angsty and about Anakin and Hunter adopting Omega. It... did not turn out like that though. xP
~ Amina Gila
The air is thick with smoke as droids march through the streets of Christophsis below them. Anakin clamors atop one of the nearby structures, watching the super battle droids and towering spider droids behind them advancing on Obi-Wan and the 212th. He circled around to the back to take them out, along with the squad of clones he's been working with since the Jedi were called to the fronts to fight.
He wasn't given control of a legion like the rest of the Knights and Masters were. The Council didn't trust him enough, like they never have – but he shies away from that line of thought right now.
Anakin exchanges a wordless glance with Hunter, as they assess the situation together. He wasn't expecting to be paired with Clone Force 99, and despite what it means about how they don't see him half as capable as everyone else even though he doesn't understand why, he could never regret getting to know them. The first real friends he's ever had since Kitster.
They already know the plan. Anakin moves first, jumping off the ledge onto the first spider droid, stabbing his lightsaber into the top of it. The others clamor down and charge the droids, Wrecker throwing Hunter onto the top of the nearest one so he can stab out their eyes, making them easier to take out. Crosshair's sniping from above.
Anakin's finishing up the last of the spider droids, while the other four start taking out the super battle droids from behind.
They work their way through the droids to meet up with Obi-Wan and the 212th, but Anakin can hear tanks approaching now. They need reinforcements if they're going to get out of this. He and the Bad Batch can handle a lot together, but this isn't just a small operation. It's an all-out battle, and they're way outnumbered.
But then the droids suddenly start retreating. "They're pulling back?" Anakin realizes, half expecting some kind of trap, but the droids are rapidly disappearing between the buildings.
"Probably to regroup," Hunter supplies.
"I see reinforcements coming," Crosshair observes. Anakin follows his gaze, to see a Republic shuttle flying overhead.
Not much, but any help would be welcome right now.
Anakin and Obi-Wan move ahead to greet whoever's arriving,
"Then perhaps our problems are solved," Obi-Wan muses, "Fresh troops, new supplies, and perhaps they brought my... assistant with them."
"Assistant?" Anakin echoes, "Out here?" He heard that they were planning to give Obi-Wan someone to work with, since because of his Council position, he has control over a large part of the military.
"I'm unaware of who they're sending," he replies, arms crossed. Obi-Wan hasn't outright objected to it, but considering his role on the Council, and as the General of one of the largest groups in the Republic army, he's... busy. Very busy. Obi-Wan had still made it abundantly clear to Anakin that he doesn't like the concept, though he's unwilling to object it to the Council. If he needs help with something, Anakin and Cody are perfectly capable of covering.
It's probably another clone or someone who's already pretty high ranking in the military. That's likely not a prime concern anyway, or so Anakin thinks until the ramp descends and instead of more troops, there's just... a child?
She's blonde haired with light tan skin, and she's so small. She can't be more than eleven or twelve, and she's not dressed for fighting.
"A youngling?" Obi-Wan says, dubiously. Not a Jedi, either. Just... someone. Where did they even get her from?
"Who are you?" Anakin asks.
"I'm Omega," she replies, gaze darting past them, landing on the Batch. Something lights up in her expression instantly, even if she doesn't mention it. Does she know them? "The Council sent me. I was told to tell you both that you have to go back to the Jedi Temple. There's an emergency."
"We have a situation here already. Has anyone gotten our transmissions?" Anakin objects.
She shakes her head. "They didn't tell me anything about reinforcements." Why did they send an untrained young child into this? It technically was just to pick them up, but it's beyond risky. She hardly seems to know what she's dealing with – there's a hint of uncertainty in her voice that gives him the impression this job isn't something she's been trained for, for long.
"We won't be going anywhere until the situation here is resolved," Obi-Wan replies, grumpily.
They'll have to send a message out for that first, but trying to relay a signal through the cruiser that just dropped off Omega doesn't last long. They barely manage to say anything to Yoda before the transmission is cut off and droids attack the cruiser so they have to leave orbit. So much for that.
They'll have to find a way to make do with the forces they have. Somehow.
"I better check on the lookout post," Anakin offers once the transmission is over – they need to be prepared, and there's no doubt the Separatists are about to launch another attack.
"You can take Omega with you," Obi-Wan adds.
... She's supposed to be Obi-Wan's assistant. Anakin doesn't think he's too happy at the prospect of having to watch over a child, though. And in a place like this, Anakin doesn't understand what the Council was thinking, sending her out here in the first place. She could help him on Coruscant maybe, but on the battlefield? Not so much.
Omega seems lost and very out of place, but she follows him without protest. Especially when she sees that he's going to where the Batch are waiting. The eagerness pouring off her certainly indicates far more than just acquaintances.
"What's the status, Hunter?" Anakin asks.
"Quiet right now, but they're preparing for another attack." Hunter's gaze drifts past him, to Omega. "Who is she?"
"Hello," Omega pipes up, waving a hand.
"What's that?" Wrecker asks, peering down at her.
... To be fair, he's probably never seen a female human before.
"Adolescent human female. Origins... uncertain," Tech supplies.
"My name's Omega," she replies, "I was wondering if I'd see you guys out here."
"You know them?" Anakin asks. He still doesn't understand that since they don't seem to recognize her.
"You know who we are?" Hunter echoes, no less confused.
She lists off their names, smiling brightly.
"She's supposed to be here as Obi-Wan's assistant," Anakin explains to the others, "Why don't you show her around while things are still quiet?"
She'll have to get used to this kind of environment fast if she's really going to be out on the field. Anakin still doesn't think it's a very good idea. Obi-Wan obviously has little interest in taking care of her, especially in the middle of the war. He really doesn't have time, and this isn't an area Omega could know much about, given her age. It doesn't seem like the kind of role she should even have, and he's admittedly worried about what her fate is going to be if something doesn't change.
**w**
Hunter watches Anakin go before turning back to Omega. She's still looking at them with a curiosity and eagerness he doesn't understand.
No one acts like that around them. The Kaminoans only gave him and his brothers special attention to study their enhancements and capabilities. The regs never wanted them around at all, with a few rare exceptions like Cody.
The first person who ever befriended them, really, was Anakin. He helps take care of them, and that's not something Hunter's ever had before. He's always been the one responsible for his brothers, and he still is, but Anakin is always there, too, and always helps.
But Omega is the first person, other than Anakin, who's acting like she wants to be around them, and Hunter doesn't even understand why.
"How do you know us?" he asks. She seems oddly familiar, but he can't remember where he ever could've seen her before.
She hesitates. "I used to be on Kamino."
Kamino? Why would she have been there? Not that he understands any more what she's doing out on the battlefield in the first place. She's not a soldier like them. "You don't have... parents?" Or whatever it is natborns call them.
Anakin told them once that his mother died. He was still grieving her when they first met. Hunter can't imagine what it would be like to lose someone that close. He's only ever had his brothers and aside from when Wrecker was injured during a training exercise, they've never come close to losing each other. He knows how easily, in theory, it could happen, but they've always made it out of missions with success.
Maybe it's also that he can't quite imagine what it would be like to have someone take care of him. Anakin does, but that's different because he didn't raise him.
"Parents?" Omega repeats, confused, "I used to be Nala Se's medical assistant. I'm a clone like you."
... What?
She's a clone? But... she's a girl. And they frankly seem to be a species entirely of their own, even if he knows they aren't.
"Is that true?" Wrecker yelps, looking wide eyed at Tech, who immediately starts typing on his datapad.
"That is correct," Tech announces a moment later, "An analysis of Omega's DNA would confirm her statement."
"I like you. You don't fit in around here either," Omega says.
She's their sister, the only one they have. Hunter won't stop to consider how that even makes sense. Nothing about human creation makes any sense to him. What matters is that they have one, even if she's different because she wasn't made for fighting. She still wants them. That's hardly ever been true before.
"I'll show you around while there's time," Hunter decides finally.
Omega trots after him eagerly, asking him an endless stream of questions about everything – about the battle and about their positions, though Hunter's pretty sure half of his answers are going over her head.
"Can I learn to fight like you?" she asks, hopefully.
That... wasn't a question he expected. "You aren't a soldier, kid." She's so tiny, and she looks so breakable. She could never handle the kind of training they went through. "That's a question for the Jedi." It's not something Hunter would get to decide anyway, even if he kind of wants to keep her. That's not something he would even know how to handle.
Omega's face falls, and she looks like she's about to say something when Hunter suddenly senses a massive, approaching electrical field. He turns sharply, spotting a red shield that's advancing through the buildings in the distance. There are droid forces approaching, too, that are protected by it.
"What's that?" Omega queries, eyes widening.
"They've got an energy shield," Hunter explains, "Get somewhere you'll be safe." He needs to warn the others provided Crosshair hasn't spotted it already. The Separatist counterattack is starting now.
**w**
Anakin scans the holomap, assessing the easiest way for them to deal with this. Omega pops up next to him, on the opposite side Obi-Wan is on, trying to get a closer look for herself.
"Can't we just take out the shield if it's in the way?" she asks.
She has a good point.
"Easier said than done," Obi-Wan replies, arms crossed.
Omega looks a little disappointed, gaze darting back to the Bad Batch again.
Anakin exchanges a wordless glance with Hunter. "Taking out that shield is the key," he agrees. "We can handle that."
"I'll need you back here as soon as possible, Anakin. Cody and I will engage the droid forces from the front," Obi-Wan replies.
Or maybe, this isn't something all of them will have to do together. He still doesn't quite know how they're going to get back to the shield generator in the first place.
As soon as the briefing is over, Anakin goes up to the lookout post with the Batch.
They leave Omega behind, even if she's visibly unhappy about it. She needs to stay where she'll be safe.
"Did she know you?" Anakin asks as he scans the droid lines with a pair of macrobinoculars.
"Apparently, she's a clone like us. She used to be a medical assistant on Kamino," Hunter replies.
"She's your sister?" Since when were there female clones? That would explain why the Council decided to make her, of all people, a military assistant, though. Because she's just a clone, and she's not good enough to be a soldier so they ship her off for something like this, even though she could easily die. The war isn't fair to any of the clones, but that's just... It's awful, and he doesn't understand why no one seems to care that the clones are people, too. (Slaves. Just like he was.)
"We didn't know about it, either," Hunter replies. "I thought we were the only ones there were."
"Well, I guess mutations aren't that uncommon," Anakin muses. They probably happen all the time, and he doesn't know what the Kaminoans do to prevent it.
"Evidently," Tech agrees.
Anakin turns his gaze back to the advancing shield – he'll worry about the strangeness of the clones having a sister later.
"Can't we punch our way through and blow it up?" Wrecker asks, hopefully.
"Too risky." They'd get blown up by the tanks before they got anywhere.
"Cut through the middle," Crosshair advises, dryly. "Subtly."
"Only a droid could make it through." Unless...
"Pretend to be one," he snips.
That... is actually perfect. "I have an idea," Anakin says, spinning around, "If some of us concealed ourselves under a crate, their lines would advance and cross us. The droids aren't sharp enough to realize something is wrong. But it would be a stealth mission."
"I hate that word," Wrecker whines.
Anakin smothers his amusement. "But you'd get to blow everything up once you made it through."
Wrecker brightens a little at that. It's probably not the best job for him, but someone has to go.
"Under the assumption he could make it through unnoticed," Tech agrees.
"If he's with you, you should be able to make it," Anakin replies. Crosshair would be most useful sniping the droids from above, and Hunter doesn't need to go to if Tech and Wrecker are.
Finding a crate that Wrecker will fit under is a little trickier, but they manage it eventually.
"It will be a tight squeeze," Tech observes. He suddenly doesn't look half as eager about it as he did a minute ago as he and Wrecker attempt to lift the container over their heads, trying to figure out how they're going to arrange themselves under this thing.
"Think of it as a two-person huddle," Anakin advises, amused. It looks ridiculous.
"How supportive," Crosshair drawls.
"I can't move," Wrecker whines.
"Practice maneuvering," Anakin advises, trying not to laugh, "And if you make it, maybe you'll be able to top Crosshair's droid count."
"No, he won't," Crosshair objects, insulted.
Anakin pats his shoulder. "I'm sure you'll both have plenty of opportunities to beat each other."
"We should get moving," Hunter interjects.
No doubt about that. The droids are only one street down from them now, and they need to get out of sight, so the container Tech and Wrecker are under at least looks believable.
They should be alright. Droids really are too stupid to notice. Even if it's still a risk, and Anakin's so used to constantly fearing that something's going to happen to them, too, that he'll be holding one of his friends – ... brothers – as they die in his arms, the same way he did with his mother. It's always a constant fear, even if he can't say he truly believes that's going to happen.
They mean everything to each other, and he's close with each of them in his own way. He'd never let anything happen to them if he could help it. Hunter is the one who helped Anakin get adjusted to what it was like commanding in the first place. He had no idea what he was doing, and all he could do was learn from the clones. Now it's a burden both of them can share together.
Tech was Tech, and they've spent hours bonding over machines and fixing ships together – or Anakin working while Tech rambles a long string of generally unnecessary details while inspecting his datapad and recording Force knows what. He even helped Anakin fix his arm once.
Wrecker was really the goofball they all needed, and it helped, especially when all Anakin could think of was his mother's death. And how he had nothing outside the Order anymore until he met them. Wrecker had been the first one to scoop him into a crushing hug one night when he'd woken up from nightmares, and he genuinely forgot what it was like have anyone give him that kind of attention when he was upset about something – Obi-Wan was nice about but never that openly emotional. Wrecker also tried offering Lula to snuggle with him one night, which was very unnecessary, but Anakin appreciated the gesture anyway.
Crosshair is... different from most of the clones, and he's quiet. He's temperamental, if Anakin is being honest, and he's... rigid, but he's young, and Anakin understands his wariness. Crosshair's not soft by showing it, he's come to realize, and they care about each other. He's not comfortable with words like Anakin is.
But Anakin can't imagine a world where he doesn't have all of them at his side.
**w**
The droid forces are overwhelming them too quickly. The energy shield is still advancing, forcing them to keep falling back between the buildings. Anakin's fighting alongside Hunter and the rest of the 212th on the ground, with Crosshair sniping from above, but it's not enough. Not when the tanks are tearing through their defenses so quickly.
They have to fall back a few more turns in the road, when Anakin suddenly spots a familiar, tiny blonde head darting in between the debris a short distance back.
Omega.
Oh no.
He told her to stay where she'd be safe, and she'd been obediently doing so until right now. To be fair, they have retreated a lot from their original position, but – She's going to be hurt if she doesn't get out of there.
Anakin's attacking a group of battle droids when a shot flies past him, hitting one of the battle droids in the head.
He twists around to see Omega holding a blaster.
And she just hit a droid square in the head, even though he doesn't think she has really any training. Does she? He thought she didn't.
She fires again, dodging when one of the droids shoots at her. The movements are too sloppy to indicate any real training, but what really catches Anakin's attention is that she's using the Force. Unconsciously, but she still is. Her Force-presence is extremely brilliant. He just didn't realize quite how strong she was in it until right now.
He doesn't have the breath to stop and call to her – that she's able to help is impressive, but she's just going to get herself hurt. She's not trained for this, even if realistically, they need to give her some training if she's going to have this kind of job.
He's cutting through another line of droids when the energy shield over them suddenly dissipates. Finally.
Wrecker and Tech finally did it.
Their own tanks instantly open fire on the Separatist ones, but in the midst of the flying debris, Anakin suddenly hears Omega yelp. He twists around to see that something must've hit her because she lands on the ground, narrowly avoiding getting her head shot off.
"Omega!" Hunter calls – Anakin can feel his flare of panic. For only talking to her for a few minutes, he's already pretty attached to her.
To be fair, if Anakin discovered he had a younger sibling, he'd be able to completely relate to that.
"Get her to safety," Anakin calls, over the shooting.
Hunter nods, sprinting between the clones' lines to the back, picking up Omega and carrying her somewhere out of sight. She wraps her non-injured arm around his neck, clinging onto him – her other arm looks like it was hit from flying debris, but Anakin doesn't have time to take a closer look right now.
Hunter returns a few minutes later, joining the fight again.
They're still not doing that well against the endless droid lines, but after Obi-Wan dramatically fakes a surrender, they're able to capture the Separatist commander.
The clones are moving through the battlefield, gathering the injured to treat them when Anakin finds Omega again. She's with the other injured clones, but no one's had an opportunity to treat her yet.
"Hi," she chirps, somehow stillmanaging to be a ball of sunshine, even if she looks a little shaken from the battle. It's kind of adorable.
Anakin crouches next to her, inspecting the injury on her arm. A piece of metal hit her, cutting it deeply, but he doesn't think anything's still in the wound. It is bleeding, though.
"You ever been trained in combat?" he asks, carefully pulling up her sleeve so he can see it properly.
She shakes her head. "I've never used a blaster before."
"That was impressive aim." He works on cleaning the wound, before getting a bacta patch to apply to it. "If you're going to be out here, even if your job isn't fighting, you'll have to learn how to fight." Maybe it's not something she ought to have to worry about it, but if she's going to survive, it's something she will have to know.
"I want to," Omega replies, though there's a distinctly unhappy note there, "I want to be with my brothers." He gets the feeling that she's referring to the Bad Batch, specifically. And she's very obviously unhappy with her position as an assistant.
"You knew Clone Force 99 before?"
She nods, a little hesitantly. "Nala Se had them in her lab. I was alone down there until they were created. That's why I was determined to find them again."
She... knew them when they were babies. That explains everything, except –
"How old are you?" he asks. He'd assumed at first glance that she was aged the same way as the rest of the clones, but thinking about it, she doesn't feel anything like them. All the clones feel so young and childish and bright, despite their age. She does, too, but in the way most children do. Not in this way like – like she had to grow up too fast, literally. It's different.
"Twelve," she replies.
That... would make her about three years older than the Batch, since they're all nine now. She probably barely remembers them, and she won't even get to be with them anymore if she's going to be working with Obi-Wan, who doesn't really want her around.
Anakin doesn't want to leave her like that. He has a sudden idea, even if it's completely outlandish and a little ridiculous. But it could work. Maybe. It's not like it would make the Council any angrier at him than they already are most of the time.
"You're Forces-ensitive," Anakin begins.
Omega blinks. "What does that mean?"
"You're strong in the Force. You could learn to use it like me if you wanted."
"I could... be a Jedi?" she repeats, curiously.
The thought of taking a padawan is too unnerving – he can hardly trust himself. He can't imagine having to teach someone else. For someone else to be his responsibility to raise and care for, especially after he failed his mother. But... He'd be doing this for the Bad Batch as much as Omega, and they deserve the chance to know each other.
Omega deserves the chance to actually survive the war, too. Because if she stays with Obi-Wan, Anakin can guarantee she's never going to get the kind of attention and protection she needs, and she's not going to last long. Her brothers will probably never have the chance to see her again, and he can't let that happen.
"The Council is unlikely to agree, but I could still give you training if you want," Anakin replies, "You would... stay with me. I would have to at least have Obi-Wan's consent, but it's possible."
"Really?" She perks up instantly, "And I'd be with my brothers?"
This isn't a decision he can make lightly or let her make lightly. He never truly had a choice in it. It's not like he was going to say no when he was young. And he's mostly going to be training her in the Force so she can protect herself, but she has to be able to control it, so she doesn't lose herself.
Like... like he nearly did with the Tuskens on Tatooine.
"Yes," Anakin confirms, "But this is not a decision to be made hastily. There is far more to the life of a Jedi than using the Force. It is... a difficult life. It requires putting purpose ahead of your feelings, but this does not mean you cannot still... care." Even if that's how the other Jedi see it. He can't accept that being a Jedi means he's not allowed to care for anyone.
"Nala Se always told me that... that's what my brothers do. That they fight for the Republic, and if they knew about me, I would distract them. But I can help," Omega says.
Somehow, he desperately needs to address to the clones that – that being created to die doesn't mean they aren't worth anything more than that. But really, learning to be a Jedi really wouldn't change much for them, except that they'd be able to defend themselves better. "Is this what you want?" He just hopes he'll be able to teach her the way he needs to. The thought is terrifying, but Obi-Wan has told him multiple times that it's time for him to take a padawan, even if the middle of a war is hardly the right time for that.
"Yes," Omega insists, firmly, "I do."
Probably, they can confirm that with certainty after the mission is over, but... "Then I will train you," he replies, smiling. And he'll worry about how to deal with the Council – and Obi-Wan's probable unhappiness – later.
Hunter is approaching now – Anakin needs to talk to him about this later.
"Are you alright, kid?" Hunter asks, sitting next to them.
Anakin's just finishing bandaging up Omega's arm.
"Yeah," she chirps, eagerly.
Which is when he sees Crosshair approaching also. "Tech and Wrecker are back," he tells them.
Anakin nods, standing. Omega trots after them, a few paces behind Hunter, as they go to greet them.
They're both covered in ash, which is hardly surprising, but clearly something explosive happened, considering Wrecker's visible glee and Tech's disgruntled state.
"You took the shield down right on time," Anakin compliments.
"With little thanks to Wrecker activating every single droid securing the shield, yes," Tech gripes.
"I didn't see the sensor," Wrecker whines, though he doesn't seem overly perturbed.
"I specifically warned you of their security measures," Tech replies, with a huff.
Anakin smothers his amusement. Of course, the first thing Wrecker managed to do was activate all the droids. "But neither of you were hurt?" he confirms.
"No. I blew 'em all up," Wrecker replies, gleefully.
"After you nearly blew me up, as well," Tech says pointedly.
"It was an accident!" Wrecker whines.
Crosshair snorts.
How you nearly blow up your brother is a little beyond him, too, but with Wrecker, it's not overly impossible. Anakin shouldn't've expected anything else to happen, anyway. "At least you won," he replies, amused.
There's a gunship flying in carrying Master Yoda, and Obi-Wan is approaching, which means there's probably another mission they need to deal with.
**w**
"I've never taken care of a kid before," Hunter says when he finally gets to talk to Anakin alone. "I don't know how to do this."
"I've never had a padawan before, either," Anakin reminds, "I don't know what we're doing, but we can figure it out. She wants to stay with us."
To tell the truth, he doesn't think Omega would fit anywhere else, either. That doesn't mean Hunter has any idea what he's doing. He's used to just having his brothers, and suddenly having two new people added to their... squad or whatever exactly it is they are, isn't something he's comfortable with. He trusts Anakin, and Omega, but it's – they've never had anyone before. They don't have friends. They only have each other.
"Well, I guess we'll have to find a way to make it work," Hunter agrees. He's still worried, though. Omega got hurt on their first mission together, and it easily could have gotten far, far worse than it was. She doesn't have any training, though at least if she's a Jedi, that... should be enough to protect her, right? He has no idea how that works.
"You always do," Anakin agrees, "I know this is different, and this is not something you have ever dealt with before, but... we can make it work."
Hunter hopes that he's right. He might want Omega to stay around, but this is war. She's just a child, and she's not like them. He has no idea how to go about taking care of her. Anakin probably has more of an idea since he had someone take care of him, but still. He can only hope they'll be able to do it, with Anakin's help. "If we can keep her safe," Hunter concedes.
"The best way we can do that is teach her how to protect herself," Anakin replies thoughtfully. He's definitely concerned about it, too, even if he's not showing it much – Hunter's known him long enough to be able to see that.
Imagining teaching Omega – with how tiny and fragile she looks – the kind of things they do is... He can't quite imagine it. "I don't know how much she'll be able to handle."
"When she learns to use the Force, that will... help," Anakin responds, "We have to teach her to be able to survive, even if we take care of her as long as we are able. And I cannot imagine that watching over her will be much harder than watching over Crosshair and Wrecker."
Hunter's own amusement flares, even if he's still worried. "No. I don't think she could get into more trouble than they do." Except that they can defend themselves, and he can't say the same about Omega.
Anakin touches his shoulder, reassuringly. "I'll deal with training her as a padawan. You and your brothers can help with training how to be a soldier. Together, we'll find a way to make it work."
Hunter really hopes that he's right.
Especially when they're promptly called away on a mission to Teth to rescue Jabba's son. A mission like that is not going to be easy.
They're still in hyperspace when he goes to find Anakin, who's in his quarters with Omega. She's sitting with her back facing him in the chair as his desk as Anakin carefully braids her hair – part of it, anyway. Hunter doesn't know much about Jedi practices, but he knows it's a padawan braid, especially when he sees Anakin putting a blue bead in it.
"It's done," Anakin tells her, smiling.
Omega hops to the floor, reaching up to pull the short braid over her shoulder to take a closer look at it.
"Why is it blue?" Hunter asks, mostly curious.
"The color is influenced by what they will specialize in, in their studies," Anakin explains, "Blue is for mechanics."
"I already know a lot of that," she chirps.
"Are you ready for some action, kid?" Hunter queries.
Omega nods eagerly.
He's still wary about it, but Anakin seems a lot more confident that this will work. He can only hope that he's right.
