Shrouded Shrine (Night)
Finally, his creation was complete.
Standing alone in a dark temple was an elderly man with black eyes and a long white beard. He wore a kimono that was stained in dried blood. In front of him was a grave with strange markings carved into it. "Wake up, children." the man said. In response to his voice, the cracks in the grave began to glow an eerie purple color. "How do you feel?"
The grave didn't respond.
"Not ready to talk? That's fine." the man said, picking up a staff that was leaning on the wall. With a thrust, he jabbed the staff directly into one of the cracks in the grave. A faint wailing noise could be heard echoing through the area. "Ready to cooperate now?" the man asked.
"Do. You. Feel. Any. Thing?" several young voices asked in succession.
"What do you mean?" the man asked, curious what his weapon was thinking.
"You. Beat. Us." "Kill. Us." "Break. Our. Minds." "Do. You. Feel. It?" the voices explained.
"No. No, I don't." the man said. "Your only purpose is to serve as a weapon for me. You are a monster with no weakness, and once you submit, will let me control all of the Celestica."
The grave remained silent for a moment. "Is. That. Why. You. Took. Us. From. Our. Families?"
"Your power was needed." the man said. "A weak soul cannot withstand this."
The grave began to shake a bit. "Is. That. All. We. Are?" "A. Weapon?" they asked, seething.
"A monster has to be leashed." the man said. "And as your master, I am the one who must give you one." The man used his staff to attack the grave again. But just as he thrust it forward, it stopped moving.
"No." the voices said as a purple smoke came from the dirt in front of the grave. "We. Are. Not. Monsters." "You. Are." The staff flew out of the man's hand and broke in two. The purple smoke condensed, and a green face could be seen in it, with several souls orbiting it. With a shriek, it headbutted the man and sent him flying into a wall. Its eyes then glowed pink before telekinetically slamming him into the ceiling.
"How dare you!" the man yelled, bleeding heavily from his back. "I made you what you are, you rotten little beasts! I gave you life!"
"No." the spirits corrected. "You. Took. Our. Lives." Purple flames began to appear around the spirits. "Now. We. Will. Take. Yours." The flames were launched at the man, engulfing him in ghostly fire. And with a scream, the spirits broke apart the temple, allowing them to see the night sky for the first time in ages.
Shrouded Ruins (Night)
Several years later, the spirits were broken apart. Vessa, the youngest of them, recruited a strong Survey Corps member to collect them all again. "I'm glad you came here. Let's get started, shall we?" she said to the trainer. "First of all, a confession. I may have told you one teeny-tiny lie. About the wisps...there are actually 108 of them. I've been holding on to the last one—could you put it in the Odd Keystone with the others?"
"Sure." the trainer said, a sad look on their face.
"But first, what do you think of me?" Vessa asked.
"Truthfully?" the trainer asked, to which Vessa nodded. "I think you're a good person."
"Oh, well. I don't really think you're right about that." the girl said, laughing to herself. "Here we go, the final Wisp. After this, we'll be back together again. Will that traveler forgive us?" A beat of silence. "Close your eyes for a sec, would you?"
"Goodbye, Vessa." the trainer said as they covered their eyes.
"Making you gather all those Wisps was my last bit of mischief." Vessa admitted. "Thanks for playing along. Please... don't forget about me."
The trainer opened their eyes to see that Vessa had vanished, and in her place, was the 108th Wisp. With a heavy heart, the trainer used the Odd Keystone to absorb it. As soon as it did, the stone flew out of their hands and landed in front of him. Purple smoke came from the cracks in the stone, once more becoming the beast that man created.
"A Spiritomb." the trainer said, having predicted this since Vessa gave him the Odd Keystone. From what they understood, these Pokemon were born from the assembly of 108 wicked spirits. But Vessa was far from that, so maybe whoever learned that was misinformed. Regardless, they knew what had to be done. "This is for your own good. Sylveon, come out!" the trainer threw a Strange Ball, releasing the Fairy-Type Pokemon.
Spiritomb grinned before headbutting the Intertwining Pokemon, dealing a surprising amount of damage.
"Foul Play." the trainer recognized. "Sylveon, use Shadow Ball!" Sylveon created an orb of darkness in front of it that it then fired at Spiritomb. The attack landed, causing an explosion that made it stagger a bit.
Spiritomb retaliated by using Psychic, throwing its opponent into the air.
"Cushion your fall by using Psychic!" the trainer said. Sylveon used Psychic on itself, allowing it to control how fast it fell. "Now, finish it with Giga Impact!" The Fairy-Type became engulfed in a bright pink light before ramming into Spiritomb's face. The resulting explosion sent the Forbidden Pokemon careening into a nearby mound of earth. "Now, go Poke Ball!" The trainer threw a Poke Ball at Spiritomb's gaseous body, reducing it to light and encapsulating it. The Poke Ball shook a bit before a puff of smoke came out the top.
"I may not know everything about you, but I do know that you're in pain." the trainer said, holding the Poke Ball close to their chest. "I want to help you get rid of that pain, Spiritomb. Will you let me try?" They tossed the Poke Ball, letting out their newest friend. The Ghost-Type looked mostly confused, but after a while, it smiled and began to laugh.
"Thank you." Vessa's voice said from behind the trainer.
AN: The reason Giga Impact hit Spiritomb was because Sylveon's Ability is Pixilate.
