Meanwhile in Las Angles, Seviathan was having the time of his life. For the past few weeks since he had left Charlotte, he had been using their money and his new "single" status to throw lavish parties, drink, gamble, and fool around with painted ladies. As for the staff, if they thought working for Charlotte was awful, than working just for her so-called husband was even worse. He worked them night and day, barely letting any of them have a moment's rest. At times he didn't even let them sleep. They were exhausted.

"I love L.A!" He said dancing shamelessly with three young women in two-pieces. "I love all my starlets! Now what were your names again?"

"Verosika Mayday." Answered one especially attractive one with long pink hair.

"Verosika! I love it!"

Seviathan pulled her into an equally shameless make out session. Moxxie came up with more drinks and could help the disgusted expression on his face.

"Took you long enough!" Seviathan said. "We almost had to wait. Well don't just stand there! My guests are thirsty!"

"Yes sir."

Moxxie started pouring drinks and handing them out to the women.

"Well hi there handsome." Said one girl called Coco. "Don't you look all cute in your little butler get up."

She approached Moxxie seductively and slid her arms up his chest, looping them around his neck.

"What do you say you come along with us into the next room and make our foursome a fivesome?"

"Oh...Um...Well as tempting and flattering as that is." Moxxie said feeling very uncomfortable. "I'm afraid I must refuse. I'm married, you see."

"Happily married?" She asked puckering her lips.

"Happily married." Moxxie quickly slipped out of her arms. "And for the record my wife is the violently jealous type, so for your own sake, please don't flirt with me."

"Your loss."

"And now my sweet, a little token of my affection for you." Seviathan said clasping a French-cut necklace of diamonds around Verosika's neck.

"Isn't that Mrs Von Eldritch's necklace?" Moxxie asked.

"Yes but it suits Verosika better." Seviathan said groping her breasts.

Moxxie also noticed that Coco was wearing Charlotte's ruby earrings and the the third girl called Apple was wearing Charlotte's diamond bracelet.

"So that's where her jewelry has been disappearing to." Moxxie thought.

Suddenly he heard the phone ring from inside the yacht and went to answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hello Moxxie," Came the polite voice of Lilith. "I'd like to speak to my daughter please."

"Oh..." He replied, slightly nervous. "One moment Madame."

He went back outside and on to the front deck.

"Sir, forgive me for interfering in your...Affairs. But I have Mrs. Morningstar on the line. She's asking for Mrs. Von Eldritch."

"Damn!" He cursed. "Tell her I'm not here!"

"Pardon my saying this, but is that wise?"

"If she's anything like her husband, she'll believe anything I say. Now if you'll excuse me."

"But sir, I used to work for Mrs. Morningstar and I have to warn you that she's by no means a dumb blonde."

But Seviathan just tuned him out and continued to drink and fornicate with his new lady friends. Moxxie quickly exited the scene before it became too nasty for his liking, and then resumed speaking on the phone with Lilith.

"I'm sorry Madame, but neither Mr, and Mrs. Von Eldritch are not here. They've gone shopping and afterward they're going on a romantic excursion that Mr. Von Eldritch planned as a surprise."

"Really?" Lilith said suspiciously. "Well, that's a thoughtful gesture on my son in-law's part and not at all like him."

"It's to make up for all the fighting Madame. I recall how Mr. Morningstar has planned many romantic things for you whenever you two had the occasional disagreement."

"Yes I suppose." But she didn't sound very convinced. "Moxxie the next time you see my daughter, could you be a dear and tell her that her mother is worried about her and wishes to talk to her soon?"

"Yes Madame."

"Thank you."

Lilith hung up and then went over to finish her usual beauty treatments before joining her husband for dinner. When Lucifer first married Lilith, everyone assumed that she was just a gold digger and he was just looking for a trophy wife but in actuality the two were very much in love. Had been ever since they first met on Lucifer's twenty-first birthday. The party was a grand gala at a luxury hotel and one of his best friends, Amon, had decided that the time had come for Lucifer to get laid. So he arranged for a girl to be brought to the birthday boy's room when the party was over.

Lilith was that girl and she had quite a reputation. Much like Vaggie, she developed earlier than most girls and by the time she was thirteen, pretty much any straight male was after her. Boys looked at her and got so dizzy they had to be rushed to the emergency room for a hit of oxygen or a pint of new blood. Men who'd been happily married, and were old enough to be her father, suddenly took it into their heads to propose and offer her the world, or at least their version of it.

So of course women and girls labeled her as a tramp and a whore. Which became worse after the romance she shared with her first love. He was a dirt-poor but dashing young man who worked in the supermarket that she passed everyday on her way to school. He was funny, charming, witty, in a way he was a lot like Alastor. Everyday Lilith would catch him staring at her and he would always try to talk to her whenever she came by for groceries. Eventually they started dating and Lilith was in love. So in love that she couldn't think logically or listen to reason. Which led to her losing her virginity to him at age sixteen and just outside the supermarket. They were caught by the shop owner and it was made public. Her lover blamed her for the humiliation and dumped her, and after that, everyone slut shammed her.

She lost her friends, her parents couldn't bear to even look at her, and when couldn't get a respectable job anywhere. So she decided to be what everyone thought she was. She became a whore. A whore for money. She swallowed her shame and dignity, letting men use her and then getting paid for it. She hated herself for it, but she knew no other way to survive. That is until the night she met Lucifer. She didn't know Lucifer was already in the room and she didn't know why but she suddenly felt like crying. Lucifer heard her crying and asked her what was wrong, promising her that if she wanted to, they could just talk. So they talked and talked, that's all they did that night.

For Lucifer it was love at first sight and he immediately wanted to help her. So he told her that if she wanted a different job, then she could work for him. His brother and his family were currently living with Lucifer due to an earthquake incident that destroyed their house and they needed a nanny for the children. Lilith adored children so she was more than happy to take the job. Lucifer fearing that his brother and sister in-law wouldn't want a former prostitute looking after their children, fabricated a resume but Lilith didn't want to lie. Lies and rumors were what drove her to prostitution in the first place and she wanted to make a clean break. So she told his brother the truth and he was so sympathetic to her story and so impressed with her honesty that he felt she deserved a sporting chance.

For the first few weeks, his brother's wife worked closely with her since she didn't have much experience in childcare and overtime she took to it. Soon she did very well with the children and was able to prove that she was much more than just a woman with sex appeal. When the time came for Lucifer's brother and his family to leave, he knew that she was the one he wanted. He loved her and no other, reputation be damned. He may have been a virgin but he was no angel. So he proposed, she accepted, and they had been happily married since.

But the happiest day of her life came when she gave birth to her little Charlotte. The very moment she held that precious baby girl in her arms for the first time, she vowed that her child would have the best everything and that she would never know the same pain and struggle she herself had lived with. Perhaps that was why she was against her daughter falling in love with Alastor, because she feared he'd only ruin her just like her first love did to her.

After she and her husband separated the sweethearts, the couple set to work finding her a rich, respectable, and decent man to marry their daughter off to. A man like her father. Seviathan seemed to fit that description. He was well-dressed, had class and style, a bachelor who claimed to own several plazas in Vegas. Lucifer liked him instantly, Lilith however was always skeptical of him. He just seemed too good be true. Still, she trusted her husband's judgement and did not voice her concerns. Until now.

"Something troubling you darling?" Lucifer asked her as they dined together that evening. "You haven't spoken much."

"I'm worried about Charlotte." She said. "She hasn't called me in weeks and that's very unlike her."

"Well Moxxie told you that she's on holiday with Seviathan. Of course she's not going to call. She's probably having the time of her life."

"That's what I'm telling myself but I still don't know. Something just doesn't feel right. Maybe we should go visit them?"

"Oh sweetie, no. You told me that they had been fighting for months, they need a trip like this to work things out. Let's not spoil it for them. Who knows? They might even be trying to have a baby."

Lilith smiled at the thought.

"Yes. I guess that would explain the absent phone calls. I don't know, maybe I'm just too attached that's all."

"Well I remember how you always hated the relationship you had with your mother and how you wanted to have a better one with Charlotte."

"My mother never gave a damn about me. Always said that I ruined her life." She scoffed. "Not my fault she got knocked up in college but she still resented me. I just hope Charlotte never felt resented or unloved."

"I can assure you she never did."

"I also hope she doesn't feel like we ruined her life."

"What do you mean? How could we have done that?"

"Well dear, since Seviathan and Charlotte got married, I've noticed some things."

"What kind of things?"

"The way they behave around each other. They don't really smile, or laugh, or look at each other the way you and I do."

"Maybe they keep their love private?"

"Maybe. I just wish that I could see some evidence that she loves him. I want to see her really happy. And I hate to admit it and I know you don't want to hear this, but the last time I ever saw her truly happy and in love was when she was with-"

"Don't say his name! Not in my house!"

"Okay first of all, don't raise your voice at me like that again or your sleeping alone in the guest room for a year." She said sternly. "And second, I know how you feel about him but you can't deny that she loved him."

"Fine. I can accept that she once loved him though why she did, I'll never understand."

"I can. Don't forget, I fell for a man like him once."

"Yes and he deserted you, and that's just what that hick would have done to Charlotte. If they got married, he probably would've taken the money and run off with some floozy."

"I know. I know. I just wish there was someway I could help Charlotte's marriage."

"With all due respect my love, only she and her husband can fix their marriage. We just need to leave them be and let nature run its course. Don't interfere."

"I won't."

Though the gnawing feeling that something was wrong, call it maternal instinct, just wouldn't leave her be. She'd still keep trying to call Charlotte, for you see no mother can really rest until she hears from her own child's mouth that everything is alright.
