Chapter two
Police station? Yeah right, no, this... this is a tomb

Author note

Silver - Thank you everyone for reading and I hope that you are enjoying the slight changes that I have made. For those that read this on FF, type in the extra ideas that you would like to see, also swearing will be in this chapter and beyond. Also there will be files/notes from the game, but for those that have played the game, in the Safety Deposit Room, there will no gun powder or knife or hip pouches or film to develop and in those spots will be useful things like bullets or grenades. Also there will be a change to an event seeing as Leon and Claire were together entering the police station and I hope you all enjoy this chapter.

Loki - Some things are revealed in this chapter, but also Silver is tricky with a section of this chapter, I hope you all enjoy it. Also this is a long chapter as Silver wanted to get a few things out of the way.

Silver - There are two songs for this chapter, the first one is Memories Are Made of this by Johnny Cash (song will be on the radio, but it will be for the parts of this chapter) and the rest of the chapter song will be Have You Ever Seen The Rain? by Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The rain was easing slightly as Claire and Leon walked to the heavy looking door that led into the large and foreboding feeling police station. Claire and Leon looked at the door, both were not sure what they were truly walking into but they both nodded at each other and got their pistols ready in case they had to shoot fast.

"Three... two... one..." Leon whispered holding up his hand and together the two pushed opened the heavy doors, pistols at the ready and both froze in awe seeing the grandness of the main hall that took their breaths away.

"How could a police force afford this? What was this place before?" Claire thought to herself and Leon was wondering the same thing.

Claire noticed bloody footprints scattered on the floor and she hoped that there were still survivors within.

Leon frowned hearing singing, but could only just hear the male voice and he looked around to the front desk and walked over to it and there just over the desk sat a radio playing Johnny Cash's Memories Are Made of This.

Leon reached over the desk and turned off the radio with a small shake of his head.

"Interesting song to have playing" Leon muttered and Claire nodded in agreement.

"This... this... where is everyone?" Claire asked looking around the hall and Leon looked over to her.

"I am not sure and it has me worried and concerned for the force" Leon walked around the desk and saw just near the computer was a power cord "I found a charger cord for your mobile, what type of mobile do you have?" Leon asked her watching as she walked over to him and pulled out her mobile.

"Nokia" Claire replied pulling the mobile out of her back pocket before smirking and tossing the mobile over which Leon caught.

"They are not bad phones, how fast does it take for the mobile to charge?" Leon asked as he put the mobile on charge and Claire walked around to him.

"About an hour, give or take..." Claire sighed heavily looking at the bloody footprints on the ground as she sat down in a rolling chair "I really hope Chris is not here now seeing this and everything outside, no matter if he and I fought I never want to see my brother dead" Claire whispered and Leon walked over to her placing a hand on her shoulder.

"We will find him if he is still here and if not hopefully there is a clue as to where he is" Leon stated and Claire looked at him with a soft smile.

"Cheers for saying that" Claire replied and Leon smiled at her.

"You stay here, I am going to check around the hall... I won't go far... why don't you check the CCTV and see if there is anyone that needs help?" Claire agreed and rolled over to the computer set up that had the CCTV on it "let me know what you find" Leon told her and Claire watched the screen.

Leon walked out from the desk and looked around wondering what working here would have been like. Leon shook his head and he walked up the small rank and saw more camp beds and discarded medical supplies.

Leon looked up to the statue and frowned tilting his head before walking closer to the small sign.

"May the goddess Athena help us bring justice to all" Leon read in his mind and he looked back up to the statue.

"That's not Athena" Leon jumped in fright and turned to see Claire standing there with a smirk "did I scare you?" Claire asked and Leon placed a hand over his heart.

"Yeah... you did, I thought I told you to look at the CCTV cameras to see if anyone needed help" Leon replied as his heart calmed down and Claire giggled at him.

"I called out to you and when you did not answer I got concerned and I decided to see if you needed help" Claire told him and Leon looked back to the sign.

"What do you mean that the statue is not Athena?" Leon asked curious looking back to her and Claire smiled at him.

"My adoptive father and his friends taught me all about myths and legends of the different pantheons from different countries... I loved those lessons and when I was about 12 years old, they taught me about the Greek pantheon and showed me the different statues that had been created for the eras, anyway I learnt of the 12 children of Gaia and Ouranos, they were called the Titans or in the case of the females Titanesses..." Claire explained walking over to the statue and giving a small bow of her head.

"Who is this then? If not Athena" Leon asked curious and Claire looked back to him.

"This would be Themis, who held the domains of Justice and Law... who was also a titaness" Claire replied looking to him and Leon on at the statue again.

"I wonder who put down Athena" Leon said and Claire frowned wondering the same thing before she spotted three medium side flat holes and walked closer to them.

(place holder for ao3 picture)

"Leon, what do you think these three holes means?" Claire asked as she walked over to it and Leon looked to them.

"I am not sure, maybe someone put what ever was there away to keep safe from the general public" Leon replied and Claire nodded in agreement.

"Anyway, the reason why I called out to you was that there was a man most likely an officer running from the zombies over in the East Hallway" Claire told him and Leon looked to her.

"Is there a map so I can go and find the guy?" Leon asked and Claire nodded.

Leon followed Claire to the desk, where he saw a large paper map laid out and Leon was impressed as Claire marked down where the CCTV camera was and then the most likely spot the officer was heading for.

(placeholder for picture on AO3)

"That door..." Claire pointed to the shutter that had a giant sigh of 'KEEP OUT' on it "will lead you to the officer, who was heading towards the Watchman's Room..." Claire tapped the room on the map "if you follow this path, you will reach there..." Leon studied the marked out route "just be careful, we have no idea what is beyond that door" Claire told him looking into his eyes.

"What about you?" Leon asked wondering if she was going to remain by the desk and watch the CCTV cameras for other survivors.

"I am going to head over to the Safety Deposit Room and see if there are any guns or ammo in them, then I will head up these stairs and see what is around up there" Claire replied and Leon frowned.

"I don't like the idea of splitting up... sounds like a dumb move" Leon told her and Claire sighed loudly.

"I don't like it either, but we need to find other survivors, ammo, food, drinks and see about finding a way out... plus I really need to see if Chris is here... no matter the bad feeling I am getting that this was a trap" Claire replied and Leon sighed before he nodded.

"Okay, just be place and we will meet back here" Leon told her and Claire nodded in agreement.

"You see a zombie... shoot for the head and also look around for anything that could be useful" Claire told him and Leon nodded.

"Before we part ways... did you happen to find any radios at all?" Leon asked looking around the desk and Claire shook her head.

"No, hopefully you or I can find some before we meet back up, also check for documents from survivors or anything that could have led to whatever happened here in the station" Claire told him and Leon nodded in agreement.

"Will do" Leon replied with a grim smile.

The two went their different ways and Leon watched as Claire pulled a knife from her boot and cut the tape to open a panel to reveal a lever which she pulled down which got the barrier to open.

"Be safe Claire" Leon told her and she looked at him before nodding at him before walking into the reception.

Leon pushed the button and the door lifted slightly and Leon groaned seeing water mixed with blood.

"Fun" Leon muttered to himself before getting onto his stomach and crawling under the door.

Elsewhere

There was a beeping sound ringing loud and clear before the running was heard before a shadowy figure got to the beeping.

"Ma'am, there is more movement in the police station... two new people have entered the building" the figure called out and then there was light walking.

"Interesting and where is Marvin Branagh currently? Please find out who the new people are?" a posh female voice replied slowly walking towards the first figure.

"He is currently in a waiting room on the second floor tying to bandage his wound and I am currently looking for where the other two went" the first voice replied and the female arrived at the desk.

"Are there any other survivors in the station?" the female asked and then there was typing and the cameras changed.

"Chief Brian Irons is in his office and we know that both Annette and William Birkin arrived earlier in the morning and have not yet seen leaving the station parking garage..." the female cut him off.

"And their daughter, is she with them?" the female demanded and then there was more typing.

"Not that we saw and we have not yet seen a young blonde haired girl running around" there was more typing.

"You there... any word on our mole that was with team to get the G-Virius from the good doctor?" the female asked and there was movement as a chair rolled over to another area.

"No, there has not been any word... should I try to contact them again?" another voice answered and the female's heels walked towards the voice.

"No... hopefully the mole will return and inform us that he killed the team as well as have the G-Virius in hand" the female stated calmly and then there was typing.

"Very well, send in the T-00 to take care of the survivors and locate the G-Virius sample, keep T-01 on stand by as well in case any survivors split" the female ordered and there was typing.

"Ma'am, I have some interesting information for you" another female voice called out and the first female walked over to the voice and there was paper moving around as the first woman picked up the document.

"The young woman is named Claire Lovisa Redfield, she currently works at Singer Salvage Yard, which is located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota" the first woman cut off the information.

"That is interesting news, so she must be the younger sister of Christopher Redfield... has there been any signs of the S.T.A.R.S members around the city?" the first woman stated and watched the screens that showed Claire dodging then shooting an infected T-Virius victim.

"Nothing seen on the CCTV cameras, it looks like all S.T.A.R.S members are hiding away from the city" a different male voice stated and the first woman growled.

"Damn it, hmm... maybe set up a one time call out and maybe Claire will try to contact her brother if he left a number or something" the first woman stated and there was typing.

"Ma'am... what about the male? Do you want to know who he is?" the first woman waved her hand in a dismissal manner.

"He is no concern, he will die either by the hands of the victims of the T-Virius or one of the Tyrants will get him, if he splits from Miss Redfield... so don't bother about his information" the first female stated and she just kept watching the screens with the light of screen showing a smile that showed all teeth.

West Side

Claire looked around the dark hallway, seeing a body slumped against the wall, where a radio signal could be coming from and she walked closer to the hallway to the right and frowned seeing it was blocked off and taking a mental note of it. Claire walked towards the slumped body and found that she was right about the radio being on the body.

"This is 73-bird... for rescue... heading to east... river..." Claire bent down to look at the radio which was scratched up "touchdown at RPD... minutes..." however she frowned seeing a large chunk bitten on the neck and carefully lifted the head to see that it was more of a thick knife like wound that had broken the bottom jaw.

A metal sound echoed further down the hallway which jolted Claire to her feet and looked around to see if anything moved. She gasped in shock seeing a body hanging above a door and she thought that might have been the metal sound, but still she steeled herself to be ready to shoot. She checked the door being careful of the body and found it locked and took note of the leaf sign on the door. She walked down the hallway before she frowned seeing claw marks in the wall and floor.

"These claw marks... they aren't anything I have seen before... hope I do not run into whatever it was" Claire muttered to herself and slowly kept going keeping forward.

Claire walked slowly with each step barely making a sound and found herself in front of another blocked hallway and sighed taking note of it to add to the map, so she went through the door that led into the Operations Room. She pushed door the door softly and looked inside her pistol ready and she sighed with relief seeing nothing there.

"Good" Claire whispered and she closed the door softly behind her.

Claire checked over the desks, where she found a desk that had a near empty pack of bullets, so she pocketed them and searched to see if there was any documents that could explain what happened the past few months or even when everything started.

Most of the documents were old case files, she did find a few that had S.T.A.R.S on the corner as well as her brother's name, but nothing about the events leading up to the past week and just when she thought it was a bust, she found something that had recent dates with the title Record of Events.

"Jackpot" Claire whispered with a smile and she read it over.

December 10th
We're turning the station into a temporary shelter due to the massive sudden outbreak. All police personnel have been instructed to make the safety of the citizens their top priority as we try to accommodate as many of them as possible.

December 10th (addendum)
One of the refugees attacked us in the middle of the night, resulting in the death of 1 officer and injuring 3 others. The person in question was quickly restrained. We believe this was simply a case of someone snapping under intense stress.

December 11th
A mob attacked the station today, resulting in a number of casualties. A few survivors were able to make it safely behind the emergency shutters, but surrounded as we are, it'll be hard for any of us to escape this place. We're not sure we can fix any of our comm equipment, so we remain cut off from the outside world.

December 12th
There was another clash on the west side of the station around 1pm. Twelve people died, and there is only a handful of survivors left. Everything is falling into disarray in here.

David Ford

"Yikes, so everything went down fast from the sounds of it" Claire muttered to herself before her folded the file up placing it in the inner pocket of her jacket and hoping she could find a bag or something so she could hand things over to Bobby or Frank whoever she saw first once she escapes the city.

Claire sighed heavily as she looked around her and bit her lip taking note of the chained door and she tilted her head before shaking her head.

"Should see what is near by before shooting at the chain... heck there could be a zombie in there for all I know" she muttered to herself before looking over to the other corner and sighed heavily seeing a broken window above a stack of boxes "oh fun, climbing things... of course, nothing is ever going to be easy here" Claire stated and went over to it.

Claire climbed up the boxes and tried to see if there was anything around or below the window, seeing nothing but hearing banging she decided to go carefully through the broken window making sure she landed softly on her feet.

There just in front of her was a zombie attacking a vending machine and Claire shot him in the head. Claire checked around the corner saw nothing in her way and then looked back towards the window she jumped off, where the blockade was and saw there was an officer's body laying just down the small hallway and she creeped up to it to make sure the zombie was dead shooting the zombie in the head.

Claire decided to check to see if either zombie officer had any bullets left for any type of weapons that could be laying around and found nothing on hallway zombie and then went over to the vending machine zombie and found a pack as well as a fully loaded glock 22.

"Not bad" Claire muttered putting everything away and then keep looking around and saw another body on the floor and shot it quickly then checked it over, finding nothing again.

To her right was the sign that said West Office and to her left was the Safety Deposit Room. She walked over to the door of the West Office and saw a body just to the left and slowly opened the door.

"I wonder if any of the desks have spare bullets or even their guns... I know of the protocol to leave the guns checked in, but still there were zombies and maybe even other human attackers that wanted weapons to protect themselves, they would have their guns or at least bullets on them" Claire muttered to herself and shot the slumped officer before checking around for a gun or bullets finding none.

She then looked back to the vending machine and she pulled out her wallet to see if she had any cash on her cause food and drinks would be helpful to keep their energy up seeing as she was not sure how long till Leon, any other survivors and herself could get out of here.

She got to her feet and walked over to the vending machine, she saw that there was not a lot to pick from, but there might be more vending machines around the station and then she hit her forehead.

"There were vending machines back in the Operations Room" Claire muttered to herself and vowed to return there to get whatever she could.

Then another idea came to her and she smirked.

"I don't need to spend any money" Claire muttered before looking around to see if there was anything that could break the glass on the vending machine and she grinned seeing a broken pipe on a bench that was against the wall.

She grabbed the pipe and walked over to the machine and swung with all her strength and the glass shattered. She dropped the pipe and then she pouted.

"Bugger, how am I going to get this to the main hall?" Claire muttered to herself and just as she was about to re-enter the office the building shook and Claire fell to her knees.

"What the fuck was that?" Claire growled to herself as her thoughts turned to worry for Leon and hoped that he was alright.

"I need to find a way to get out of here and now, to go and check on Leon" Claire muttered and just as she was getting to her feet there was groaning near by and she saw in a small office and she grabbed her gun and shot the zombie in the head.

"CLAIRE! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" Claire looked up in shock and ran over to the door seeing that Leon was trying to open it from the other side.

"Yeah, I am alright, did you find any other survivors?" Claire asked keeping alert in case there were other zombies near by.

"Yes, I did, his name is Marvin Branagh and he would have been my direct boss" Leon stated and Claire gave a sigh in relief that there was another survivor around.

"Pleasure to hear there is another survivor around" a calm yet pained filled voice male voice sounded just a bit more away from the door.

"Same here..." Claire bit her lip before she nodded to herself "Leon, have you found any keys that had this door spade symbol or that with a green club?" Claire asked and it was not Leon that answered.

"Sorry to say Miss, but those keys have been missing for a good few weeks, while the key for this door and two others was last seen on the third floor 2 floors above you" Marvin informed her and Claire looked up.

"I will head straight there and see if the key is there, I will let you know... also what was that caused the building to shake?" Claire asked softly hoping.

"It was a helicopter crashing into the East Side second floor, I was already here with Marvin here in the main hall when it happened" Leon replied and Claire's eyes widen remembering the radio she first found.

"I found a dead officer with a radio that had a fizzing out about a helicopter and RPD" Claire informed Leon and Marvin, however just before Claire could continue on there was a banging behind her and she jumped.

"Damn it" Claire muttered as the door she entered was forced open and a zombie came in.

"Claire, what was that?" Leon asked with panic in his tone.

"Zombie at the door, look I will be safe and I will return to you" Claire stated shooting the zombie in the head and causing it to fall down.

"Be safe in there, Claire" Leon stated with worry and Claire grinned at the door.

"Will do" Claire replied and left the door walking by the desks.

However as she passed a desk, her eyes saw an open file and something told her to read it.

Name: Rodney Gray
Occupation: Unemployed (former electrician)

Charges:
Unlawful creation and/or possession of explosives.

Narrative:
Suspect was seen behaving suspiciously at 1442 Box St. on December 8th, 2009. Suspect's person was searched, producing a small explosive and a timed detonator from his inside pocket, leading to arrest on the charges listed above. A search of suspect's home found more than 20 additional homemade explosives at various stages of completion.

Suspect was extremely agitated and not of sound mind. Suspect spoke feverishly when questioning began, and at one point, questioning had to be halted due to a sudden bout of shrieking from suspect.
Once questioning was resumed, suspect made the following statements:

"I didn't do it for me, I did it for you! Why doesn't anyone understand? The corpses attack from the shadows!"

"A storm's coming, but this umbrella is no good! Gotta blow it up or you'll be more than just wet! Gotta get more bombs!"

"They're coming. Soon. Gotta hurry. Burn 'em. Burn the corpses. Burn 'em good."

During questioning, the suspect began to shake violently before resuming a shrieking fit. Questioning was ended, and a sedative administered.

Note:
Due to suspect's unstable psychiatric condition, suspect's testimony changed from moment to moment. Suspect's delirium made any sort of dialogue impossible. We are currently awaiting the results of a doctor's investigation into suspect's condition. The explosives collected from suspect's person and residence appear to be extremely powerful. As a safety precaution, a battery was removed from one detonation device upon its admission into evidence.
(The battery was secured in the safety deposit room.)

Interrogating Officer Wes Drucker

Claire grabbed the file and placed it in the inner pocket of her jacket and went around the desks to check for a backpack or any type of bag, she found one at a desk that had been Rita Phillips desk and she looked around before she smiled seeing just above her was a 'Welcome Leon' sign and Claire told herself she would show Leon once they meet up again.

Leon S. Kennedy, we're putting you on a very special case for your first assignment.

Your mission is...to unlock your desk! The key to your success is in the initials of our first names. Input the letters in order of our desks. There are 2 locks–1 on each side of your desk. Make sure you get them both.

Basically, your first task is to remember your fellow officers' names, but you figured that much out, right?
Good luck, Leon.
By the way, it might take a little work to get Scott to give you a straight answer.

Lieutenant Branagh

(Scrawled in a corner between drops of blood)

Be glad you're not here, rookie.

"Well Leon can have a little puzzle" Claire whispered placing the note back on the locked desk and then went down the other rows of desk to see if her feelings played up on any other files laying around.

On the final desk, there was another file and she grabbed it to read it.

Operation Report

September 28, 2:30 am
It's down to just me and 3 others. No weapons...no ammo...and too many skirmishes have drained us mentally and physically. We're not gonna make it... Officer Phillips once suggested we escape through the sewers. Apparently, there's a secret tunnel under this place left over from its museum days.

I brushed her idea off before, but now, it's not sounding all that bad. Yeah, there's no proof there's even a tunnel or that the sewers aren't infested with zombies, but I don't wanna sit here and wait to die either.
It's a long shot, but I'm gonna try to find out what I can about that tunnel.
Elliot Edward

"Huh... interesting... wonder if it is true" Claire whispered to herself before placing the report int the backpack to show Leon and Marvin.

She went over to the smaller office and saw just in the corner a safe and she walked over to it.

"Curious, wonder if the combo is somewhere around the station" Claire grabbing apiece of paper to make a note of where the safe was located "as the saying goes 'Finder's keeper' and plus I won't get in trouble if I break into the safe seeing as there are barely any officers left... I can tell a small white lie" Claire told herself and headed back out to the vending machine to load the snacks and drinks into the bag.

"Hmm, the three dead zombies are where they were... then where did that other zombie that banged the door from?" Claire muttered to herself as she placed the backpack over to shoulder and walked over to the door that led into the Safety Deposit Room, while she knew Leon and Marvin were waiting for her, she wanted to check everything and see what she could find that could help in the long run.

"The key could be on the third floor, but it could have been moved, so better check in here and plus I can take notes of what is left in here" Claire whispered to herself and she opened the door carefully in case there was a zombie within.

She could see anything down one side as she entered and slowly walked over to the other aisle and nothing which gave her a bit of relief but also she frowned.

"So that zombie might have been from here, but I did not hear... that damn helicopter could have covered the sound of a door opening" Claire muttered to herself and she looked around her and saw that was a note on a stand just behind her.

It appears that the keypad to the lockers terminal is missing a few keys. I suggest that the person responsible for this mess find some spare keys and fix this RIGHT NOW.

(You know who you are, bastard. Who else'd fuck it up this badly!?)

Claire winced and wondered who took the keys from the terminal and then she grinned happy that she kept a hair pin with her at all times so the missing keys were of no concern for her.

"But first find out what is in here?" Claire muttered and went down the left side first seeing the most lockers were opened and then her eyes lit up for in locker 203 there was three boxes of unopened pack of shot gun bullets. She wrote down the locker number and kept going down the aisle and then when she got to 208, she saw there was a wooden box within and she frowned wondering what could be in the box.

"So a strange box that no doubt has bullets for some kind of weapon and three boxes of shotgun bullets for this aisle, hopefully the other aisle has something more" Claire muttered to herself and exited the aisle and her eyes widen looking towards a cage, where there was not only a shot gun, but also a grenade launcher.

She ran over to the cage and then growled angrily seeing that it was locked and needed a keycard to open it. She kicked the cage before taking a deep breath.

"Calm Claire, hopefully the keycard is around somewhere" Claire stated and then she bit her lip looking down the aisle to the door.

"Leon could be wondering what is taking me so long, I better go back to that door and tell him what is the room and for him to check the front desk" Claire muttered to herself and walked down the aisle, seeing 109, 106, 103 and 102 with different boxes of bullets from machine gun to more pistol, but it was in 102 that had her curious as the box of bullets were not bullets she knew and wondered what they were.

She got out of the room and ran into the West Office and over to the door.

"Leon, Marvin, are either you still there?" Claire asked and there was running.

"Yeah, are you alright? Do you need help?" Leon asked with a panicked tone.

"I am fine, sorry for taking so long I decided to check in the Safety Deposit room and I had to let you know what is in here, but also to ask you to search the front desk to see if the Weapon storage keycard is there, cause there is a grenade launcher and a shot gun within the, before you say anything I have claimed the grenade launcher" Claire stated with a smirk as Leon groaned before chuckling.

"That is fine, you found it so go for it and sadly I have checked over the front desk, there is no card for the weapon storage" Leon replied and Claire sighed heavily.

"Damn, hopefully we can find the keycard somewhere in this damn building and get those weapons cause they might become a massive help in the long against the zombies and whatever else is crawling around and maybe even the machine gun cause I found a few boxes of bullets in two of the lockers" Claire stated and she heard Marvin softly speak but not what he said.

"Claire, when I went to help that officer, who sadly did not make it, but he had a notebook with him and within the notebook Marvin worked out a way to get out, I got the first part of it but can you see if you can find these statues and entered the codes to get the plates needed" Leon stated sliding the piece of paper under the door.

"Sure, but you will need to explain when we meet up again about it, I should get going and I will try to be quick about it" Claire stated picking up the piece of paper and she left the door to head back out of the office.

"Keep safe" Leon told her and Claire paused and smiled at the door.

"You and Marvin as well" Claire replied and then went out into the hallway to head to the far hallway.

Claire headed for the stairs just as a zombie appeared at the broken window and quickly shot it in the head.

"Well I believe I found where door banger came from, i wonder if the window was always broken... damn now will be more on my guard" Claire muttered to herself and then looked up the stairs hearing groans above her and then looked to the door in the corner of the room which said 'DARK ROOM'.

"I will leave that for Leon to explore, I better keep going" Claire stated and headed up the stairs.

On the second floor, slumped against the shutter lay a woman and Claire shot her in the head making sure that the woman remains dead. Then she heard the groaning again and she looked up to mid way landing to the third floor and saw a zombie there, she quickly shot it in the head causing it to fall over the railing with a loud thump on the ground.

She then heard a very faint hissing noise just ahead of her and grimaced.

"Better not be a damn snake, I hate snakes" Claire muttered to herself and walked forward seeing another blockade that was stopping her from reaching the further on the second floor and she turned to look at the bathroom.

She got to the men's locker room and softly pushed the door open and peered in.

"Huh... wonder how that happened?" Claire muttered to herself seeing that the pipes were broken making the room warm. Claire glanced around and saw a small box on sitting on a towel rack with a note next to it.

Portable Safe Instructions

Press a button to light up its corresponding lamp. Light them all to open the safe.

The buttons must be pressed in a certain order. Pressing a single button out of order will cause all of the lights to go out and you will need to start the sequence over again.

"Cool, I got myself a puzzle while Leon does his... might be nothing but still will give my brain a challenge" Claire muttered to herself and placed the item in her bag before grinning to herself and checking the lockers.

She found a full packet of pistol ammo and her eyes widen in surprise.

"Oh my god... this is awesome... these are for the grenade launcher" Claire muttered to herself seeing just 2 grenades in the bag and she looked inside each locker that she could open finding one with a dial lock and marked down where it was.

The second to last locker she opened, screamed and jumped back as a body fell out and Claire shot it in the head to make sure the corpse stayed down.

"Fourth bloody time a damn corpse surprised me in my life" Claire muttered and kicked it before looking in the final locker.

Claire left the locker room and headed up to the final floor and praying that the key to the door was somewhere in there and maybe the statues as well. She was keeping quiet as she got to the now wooden floor boards and stepped softly towards a lone locker that was at the end of the hallway, where on the right hand side was a hole in the wall and as she got closer to it and groaned seeing another lock barring her from seeing what was within.

"Well, that just sucks ass" Claire muttered and then went through the hole and she gave a little cheer seeing the one of the things she was mainly looking for that can get her back to the Main Hall.

"Found the damn little bugger..." Claire looked at the door in the room and then back to the hole in the wall "now should I head back down to the office and unlock the door? Or see what I can find through the statues to make escaping easier?" Claire asked herself and she shrugged her shoulders before deciding to head for the door.

Claire found herself in a hallway and she moved slowly keeping an eye forward and her hearing for the smallest sounds. Just as she reached the window something crawled over it and her eyes widen wondering just what she saw.

Turning a corner, she saw that there was another damn blockade and decided to see if there was anything on the boxes or if she open any of the boxes before she headed into the lone door to her left.

As Claire got closer to the boxes and saw a blood strained note and she frowned before picking it up.

To any survivors

Consider this a gift for anyone still unfortunate enough to be alive.

Keep your eyes peeled for those creepy fucks that look like they were skinned alive-"licker," we call 'em. They're blind as bats, but their hearing more than makes up for that.

So long as you don't run around like a total idiot, guns a-blazing, you should be able to slip right by them...probably.

Either way, make like my grandma and creep around as slow as possible around 'em, yeah?

Anyway, not that i wanna go, but duty calls.
That, and I've got a friend to avenge.

"What in the fuck? What the hell have I walked into? This is more nuts than I thought" Claire muttered to herself and put the note in the bag to alert Leon and Marvin of this so called 'Licker'.

Claire went back over to the door, keeping her footsteps light now more than ever due to the note and entered the room, she closed door softly and listened for anything that was not right. She moved into the room quietly and looked around seeing just a lot of junk. She walked softly, checking any cupboards for bullets, drinks, food or anything else that could be helpful.

Finding some shotgun shells, mag bullets and machine gun bullets as well as three bottles of water and a few bars of chocolate.

"Better than nothing" Claire muttered putting everything into the backpack and got to her feet.

As she around the corner seeing there was another door to her left, she noticed that there was a body hanging from the broken ceiling and shot at it which caused it to fall and Claire shot it in the head for good measure, then she noticed the strange statue that was behind some bars, so she walked closer to it.

"Well, found the Maiden statue..." Claire looked over to the right and looked to see if there was a way in "of fucking course, some bastard boarded it up..." Claire walked over to it "hmm, that looks like C4... hopefully Leon or I can find the weapon locker keycard and blow this up" Claire muttered to herself and marked where the statue was.

She decided to head through the door she passed to have a look inside the room and as she kept her steps quiet as she entered the room and her eyes widen in shock.

"A library... what on Earth was this place again?" Claire muttered to herself and then she heard something being noisy and she looked over the edge and saw a zombie eating a body, she shot the head but the bullet hit the back and Claire groaned having gotten the attention of the other zombies.

"CLAIRE!" Leon could be heard and Claire looked down to see another door with the spade symbol and sighed in relief knowing she was nearly back with Leon and meeting Marvin.

"I am alright, just dealing with two zombies, already killed one and I have the key be right there" Claire said as her voice echoed and she winced hoping there was no Licker near by.

Claire aimed for the fat zombie and got a head shot then lost track of the final zombie, she kept to the top half of the library heading over towards another door, but just as she took a step to see where the blasted undead bugger went, she fell through the floor and got winded.

"Fuck... that was... that was not fun" Claire got out and then the groaning came from her right and she tried to shoot but her arm hurt from the fall so she had to try and shoot with her left hand.

Five bullets before she got a head shot and she groaned as she slowly got to her feet.

"At least the three zombies are dead" Claire muttered to herself and winced as she walked over to the shade key door and unlocked it.

"Leon, I am alright... just got winded from a fall... but I found the key... hang on" Claire said getting the key from her pocket and unlocked the door.

"I am just glad you are alright" Claire got surprised as Leon hugged her with a sigh of relief before he let go with a small blush on his face "sorry" Leon whispered and Claire smiled at him.

"It is alright, sorry I took so long, thank you for not coming after me" Claire told him as her ankle flared up with pain.

"I wanted to, but Marvin talked sense into me..." Claire saw that Leon stepped forward again "Here, lean on me" Leon told her as he put her arm over his shoulders and got her down the stairs to where she could finally put a face to the name Marvin, who was injured on the side of his stomach.

"Nice to put a face to the voice on the other side of the door, I'm Marvin Branagh... I would have been Leon's trainer and Lieutenant" Marvin greeted holding out his other hand and Claire shook it.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Claire Redfield" Leon helped Claire onto the small couch as she winced.

"Redfield... are you by chance related to Chris Redfield? Are you alright?" Marvin asked her with a curious tone and Claire looked at him.

"Yeah... just winded from falling through some rotted floorboards and yeah, Chris is my older brother and sadly we had a falling out about 4 years ago" Claire replied and then she saw that Marvin look shocked.

"Sorry to hear that, but I can tell you that he and the remaining Alpha S.T.A.R.S team is no longer here in Raccoon City" Marvin replied and Claire looked surprised.

"Claire? Here is your mobile" Leon replied handing her mobile over and she smiled her thanks at him.

Police Station
Raccoon City, Midwest America
12th of May, 2009
10:15pm

Leon got to his feet and looked down to his clothes which were now covered in blood and he sighed before shaking his head.

"Hopefully I can get some clean clothes or find a clean uniform around here somewhere" Leon muttered to himself and he grabbed his torch, happy that he did not leave it behind at the front desk.

Leon moved slowly keeping his eyes open for any movement, keeping his pistol that he named Matilda at the ready for any sound of groaning and he walked down the few steps and wanted to groan seeing there was water on the floor.

"Of course, it can not be that easy to walk quietly to get to the area where that officer was running to" Leon whispered to himself and hoped to find the source of the flooding so he might be able to turn it off.

Leon saw that there were vending machines at the end of the hallway with a boarded up door to the left of them and Leon took a careful step to look around the corner to another hallway and saw no zombie near by. Keeping as quiet as he could, he checked to lockers that lined and wall and found them all locked.

"Well that was a bust" Leon seeing the fallen locker blocking the path forward and he shook his head "Nope not even going to bother trying to move the damn thing" Leon muttered and he looked to the left to the door, he looked for a sign and saw a bit of blood over it but he was able to read it clearly ''Press Room'.

"I will check late,r I need to get to that officer" Leon stated and he crawled under the fallen locker and ran for the hallway that the officer was down.

Leon turned right and as he walked forward, he saw to the right of him that there was a chained door and he stepped forward to glance inside and saw a row of desks plus a few unmoving bodies.

"Hmm, wonder if Claire can lock-pick this or if she or I can find some bolt cutters around here" Leon muttered and then looked back to the floor in front of the 'Watchman's room' to the bodies on the floor.

He shot each of them in the head for good measure and he jumped in fright as a loud banging was heard from inside the 'Watchman's Room'.

"OPEN UP! HURRY! OPEN UP!" a male voice yelled in a panic and Leon rushed inside and over to the shutter door.

"I'm here, I'll get you out" Leon replied and he pulled up to open the shutter.

"OPEN THIS GODDAMN DOOR!" the officer yelled back and Leon got the door opened a bit and a hand gripping a small notebook shot out from underneath.

"I have you" Leon told the officer and he let go of the shutter and went to pull the officer through. The officer placed the small notebook into Leon's hands to which Leon placed on the desk just near him.

Leon got the officer half way through before he could pull the officer all the way through, however the officer screamed in pain as a gush of blood sprayed out from the other side of the shutter which splattered his arms and chest. Leon watched in horror as half of the officer's body was gone.

"I...I..I..." Leon was in shock and despair, he felt that he failed in saving the officer "I'm...I'm so... I'm so sorry" Leon whispered as fear gripped him as the door to the 'Watchman's Room' started getting banged on and just as he got to his feet a zombie banged the door open and Leon glared at it and shot the zombie in the head causing the zombie to fall down.

Leon grabbed the notebook and pocketed it.

"I better see what else I could find and then go back and meet back up with Claire" Leon muttered to himself and looked down to his blood strained clothes.

He decided to head back to the main hall and hopefully Claire was alright and there waiting for him or she would be near by and he could go and help her. He left the room and tried the side door that would have led to the courtyard, but it was locked from the outside.

He walked along the path he had taken before and then there was the sound of wood breaking just ahead of him as Leon moved to the pool of water.

"Seriously..." Leon muttered under his breath seeing two zombies walk over from the previous boarded up room and shot at the heads of the two zombies and then there was a glass breaking sound behind him.

"Nope, I need to get to safety" Leon stated seeing he was low on bullets and did a final reload of what he had.

He ran for the shutter that he crawled under and just as he reached the stairs, he heard a groaning sound and he turned to see a zombie that no doubt had come from the window near the Watcher's Room. Leon decided to use skills he had not use in a while and went sliding under the shutter.

"I have it" a male voice stated and Leon turned to see another officer that was African American slam the shutter door shut on the zombie that was trying to crawl under with a force that exploded the head.

"Thanks... I would have shot it, but I have not found a lot of bullets and I did the silly thing and not check in a room to see if there was any bullets" Leon replied as the officer helped him to his feet.

"What's your name, kid?" the officer asked before wincing in pain and that was when Leon noticed the officer was injured on the side.

"Leon S. Kennedy" Leon replied and the man raised an eyebrow.

"The rookie that I had warned to stay away from here... the name's Marvin Branagh" the man introduced himself before wincing and Leon took the notebook out of his back pocket. However before Leon could give it over the building shook and Marvin turned the laptop around.

"What was that?" Leon asked and Marvin looked at him sadly.

"Helicopter crashed in the East side of the building" Marvin replied and Leon felt shock, he had just been down there.

"There was another officer, he gave me this..." Leon was cut off after hearing gun shot and he threw the notebook to Marvin and ran for the near by door.

"CLAIRE! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" Leon shouted tying to open it and then there was the sound of running.

"Yeah, I am alright, did you find any other survivors?" Claire asked and Leon felt relief hearing that she was still alive.

"Yes, I did, his name is Marvin Branagh and he would have been my direct boss" Leon stated and he looked to Marvin who was watching with a curious look on his face before wincing in pain from his stomach wound.

"Pleasure to hear there is another survivor around" Marvin stated as calmly as he could and Leon looked at him with concern.

"Same here... Leon, have you found any keys that had this door spade symbol or that with a green club?" Claire asked and Leon frowned looking to Marvin.

"Sorry to say Miss, but those keys have been missing for a good few weeks, while the key for this door and two others was last seen on the third floor 2 floors above you" Marvin informed her and Leon bit his lip wanting to go and help the young woman.

"I will head straight there and see if the key is there, I will let you know... also what was that caused the building to shake?" Claire asked softly and Leon looked at the door.

"It was a helicopter crashing into the East Side second floor, I was already with Marvin here in the main hall when it happened" Leon replied and there was silence on Claire's side.

"I found a dead officer with a radio that had a fizzing out about a helicopter and RPD" Claire stated which had both Leon and Marvin curious on why a radio was fizzing out.

However before any of the three could speak there was a banging sound coming from Claire's side.

"Damn it" Leon heard Claire mutter and he felt panic wondering what was happening.

"Claire, what was that?" Leon asked with panic in his tone.

"Zombie at the door, look I will be safe and I will return to you" Claire stated as shots were fired and Leon looked to Marvin with despair.

"I trust in your friend" Marvin whispered and Leon took a deep breath.

"Be safe in there, Claire" Leon stated with worry and Marvin looked back at the notebook.

"Will do" Claire replied and left the door walking by the desks and there was no sound coming.

"You know, there are windows in the reception room with gaps so people can hand things in" Marvin said with a small grin on his face.

"And you tell me now" Leon deadpanned and Marvin grinned at him before wincing at his wound.

"I like to tease the new recruits, well I did" Marvin replied looking down sadly.

"You still could, when Claire returns and the three of us will get out of here" Leon stated calmly as he walked over to Marvin.

"How did you get wounded?" Leon asked as he sat down on the other couch and looked at the blood straining the uniform.

"It is just a stab wound..." Marvin let out a small chuckle before wincing again "sure... getting it... it saved my life, but damn it is not at all fun getting stabbed in the side and I have nothing to wrap it up to slow down the bleeding" Marvin stated before wincing again and Leon looked down wishing he learnt more from all his accidents.

Leon shook those thoughts away and he began thinking that he should go and check on Claire.

"Don't go after her rookie, something tells me that young woman would not like it" Marvin stated with a small smile and Leon looked at him raising his eyebrow.

"But she is just a innocent bystander in all of this" Leon replied and Marvin looked at him.

"Her shooting says otherwise, plus there is something about her feels familiar..." looking back down to the book "something I came across in my youth" Marvin replied and he then gave a small cheer moving his body slightly which caused him to wince.

"Marvin, you alright?" Leon asked with concern and Marvin smiled at him.

"Yeah, just shouldn't have done that little cheer..." Marvin then handed the book over to Leon "see here, that officer you went to find and try to help found a way using this Athena statue..." Leon cut him off.

"Actually it is Themis, the Titaness" Marvin raised an eyebrow at him and Leon blushed "sorry, Claire told me that.. please continue" Leon replied and Marvin gave a low chuckle.

"Hmm, I would like to study the myths of the Greek gods and goddesses" Marvin muttered under his breath before shaking his head.

"Don't worry I want to as well" Leon replied with a cheeky smile and Marvin looked at him before shaking his head and looking back to the notebook.

"As I was saying, the statue hides a possible escape, but to unlock it we need three plate size medallions and we are in luck cause just up on that landing is the lion statue..." Leon got to his feet "you need to spin the dials to show lion, a branch and bird with it's wings out" Marvin explained and Leon ran up and seconds like Marvin heard metallic dials turning and then another sound of something metallic opening.

"Got it" Leon stated as he ran down and handed the decently sized metal medallion.

"Put it in one of those plate sized holes" Marvin stated and Leon took it back and went over to the statue.

"I can just see faint stone outline" Leon stated and placed the medallion in the one that looked like the right one.

Within seconds of placing it in, the bottom part of the statue sunk into the floor to the shock of Leon and Marvin.

"At least, Elliot did not die for nothing" Marvin muttered looking down and Leon came back over and sat down.

"I wonder how Claire is going" Leon whispered looking toward the reception and Marvin chuckled.

"You have a crush on her" Marvin stated with a grin and Leon looked at him before he shook his head.

"No, how could we when she and I only met a few hours back" Leon replied looking to Marvin, who chuckled.

"The matters of the heart is a funny thing, you feel a connection to her... something draws you in to her" Marvin stated before he looked down.

"Were you married?" Leon asked seeing the look on Marvin's face.

"Long time ago, but she was sadly killed and I still have not got answers on the cause of her death" Marvin said sadly and Leon bowed his head.

"I..." before Leon could speak there was a bang and running.

"Leon, Marvin, are either you still there?" Claire called out and Leon ran over to the door forgetting about the reception area once again happy to hear that the young woman was still alright.

"Yeah, are you alright? Do you need help?" Leon asked with a panicked tone placing a hand on the door.

"I am fine, sorry for taking so long I decided to check in the Safety Deposit room and I had to let you know what is in here, but also to ask you to search the front desk to see if the Weapon storage keycard is there, cause there is a grenade launcher and a shot gun within the, before you say anything I have claimed the grenade launcher" Claire stated with a cheeky tone of voice causing Marvin to chuckle low while Leon groaned before chuckling.

"That is fine, you found it so go for it and sadly I have checked over the front desk, there is no card for the weapon storage" Leon replied wincing slightly at the small lie and hoping that the card was not there and Claire sighed heavily.

"Damn, hopefully we can find the keycard somewhere in this damn building and get those weapons cause they might become a massive help in the long against the zombies and whatever else is crawling around..." Leon frowned at that and wondered if there was something Claire had seen another creature, but why was she not telling him "and maybe even the machine gun cause I found a few boxes of bullets in two of the lockers" Claire stated and Marvin got his attention.

"Tell her about the statue and medallion statues" Marvin said softly writing down what Claire needed to find and how to get the medallions and Leon nodded turning back to the door.

"Claire, when I went to help that officer, who sadly did not make it, but he had a notebook with him and within the notebook Marvin worked out a way to get out..." Marvin got up slowly and quietly and handed him the piece of paper "I got the first part of it but can you see if you can find these statues and entered the codes to get the plates needed" Leon stated sliding the piece of paper under the door.

"Sure, but you will need to explain when we meet up again about it, I should get going and I will try to be quick about it" Claire told them and Leon heard her begin to step away from the door.

"Keep safe" Leon told her and there was silence for a brief second.

"You and Marvin as well" Claire replied and then the steps walked away.

"You forgot again about the reception room" Marvin stated and Leon sighed and hit his head on the door.

"I was just happy to hear that she was alright" Leon replied before walking back over to the man and sat down placing his arm over his eyes.

There was a bit of quiet between the two men, Leon was reading the notebook while Marvin was on the laptop looking at the CCTV cameras hoping to find more survivors, which sadly there were none seen yet.

"That is not good" Marvin muttered and Leon looked up at him.

"What is not good?" Leon asked getting up to his feet and walking over to Marvin.

"The camera in the jail cells is now working and there is a man alive and smoking in the far corner cell, but the others have dead people within" Leon winced "neither you or I can get there as Chief Irons locked things down and I do not want to go outside to try the garage" Marvin explained and Leon looked at him.

"Why not?" Leon asked with a slight tone of anger.

"Chief Irons took mine and every other cops parking keycard in order to keep them safe, I have not seen him since and I am not sure if he is even here in the building" Marvin explained and Leon frowned.

"Why did he do that?" Leon asked who began to pace placing the notebook under his arm.

"Irons has been weird for many months now and even with this did not happen I would have left at the end of the year taken a few officers that were also weirded out by the man and left Raccoon City" Marvin stated and Leon stopped pacing.

However before Leon could speak, there was shooting just above them and Leon looked up panicked.

"That came from up there in the library..." Leon began to run up the stairs dropping the notebook to the floor "the door is locked" Marvin shouted as Leon got to the left side hearing more shots being fired followed by a loud crashing sound.

"CLAIRE!" Leon shouted getting to the landing and running for the door.

"Leon, I am alright..." Claire sounded hurt "just got winded from a fall... but I found the key... " Leon was happy to hear that she found the key "hang on" Claire said and Leon heard the door unlocked and he smiled seeing her looking mostly alright with a few cuts littering her arms and hands.

"I am just glad you are alright" Leon hugged her feeling her give a small jump as he gave a sigh of relief before he let go with a small blush on his face "sorry" Leon whispered and Claire smiled at him.

"It is alright, sorry I took so long, thank you for not coming after me" Claire told him and he saw her wince.

"I wanted to, but Marvin talked sense into me..." Leon stepped forward again "Here, lean on me" Leon told her as he put her arm over his shoulders and helped her get down the stairs to where Marvin was sitting and Leon saw the man having a small smirk on his face before he covered it up.

"Nice to put a face to the voice on the other side of the door, I'm Marvin Branagh... I would have been Leon's trainer and Lieutenant" Marvin greeted holding out his other hand to which Claire shook it.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Claire Redfield" Leon carefully helped Claire to the other couch and he saw her wince in pain.

Leon went down to the front desk and grabbed Claire mobile knowing there would be near full power on the mobile.

"Redfield... are you by chance related to Chris Redfield? Are you alright?" Marvin asked her with a curious tone and Leon came back up the ramp.

"Yeah... just winded from falling through some rotted floorboards and yeah, Chris is my older brother and sadly we had a falling out about 4 years ago" Claire replied and Leon saw Marvin frowned slightly before the man covered it up.

"Sorry to hear that, but I can tell you that he and the remaining Alpha S.T.A.R.S team is no longer here in Raccoon City" Marvin replied and Claire looked surprised, however before she could say anything Leon sat down next to her.

"Claire? Here is your mobile" Leon replied handing her mobile over and she smiled her thanks at him.

On the road

Car headlights flashed in the darkness and rain as it sped down the road, were three people, it was a large black car that held three people within it, two men and a woman. The driver was a young man with short dark brown hair and blue eyes, in the passenger seat sat the lone woman who had dark blonde hair and green eyes and finally in the backseat sat the other man who had black hair that was curly and dark brown eyes.

"Chris, you are going to get caught by the cops" the woman stated looking to the driver with a worried look.

"I don't care Jill... I am concerned and worried about Sherry, I can feel it in my bones that something is wrong... plus..." Chris bit his lip "you heard the phone ring out... something is not right... Sherry, would always answer the phone or call straight back if she had been upstairs" Chris replied with his tone laced with worry and Jill sighed heavily.

"You don't think that Annette or William would have Sherry with them?" the other man asked with a bit of a Spanish accent and Chris looked at him briefly.

"No, they would not have Sherry with them, Carlos... they did not like having us in the lab, we had to stay at the house when they went to work" Chris answered and he stepped harder on the gas pedal.

"How far are we out from Raccoon City?" Carlos asked and Jill looked at her watch with a smirk.

"We are about 2 hours out, maybe one with how Chris is driving" Jill stated and Chris shot her a glare before looking back to the road.

"Well, what about a game of iSpy?" both Chris and Jill glared at him "so... that a no on the game" Carlos muttered with a small pout and Jill giggled at him.

"You are such a big child" Jill told him with a small smile and Carlos smirked at her.

"You know it, supercop" Carlos replied and leaning over to give Jill a kiss on the cheek which caused Chris to roll his eyes.

"You both are children" Chris muttered under his breath and the couple stuck their tongues at him.

"Just wait, you will find someone that you will flirt with... to fall in love with..." Carlos smiled at Jill who smiled back "and then Jill and I can to tease you and your your partner... you know, Chris... you are actually a big softie, Christopher James Redfield, underneath all that tough exterior" Carlos told him and Chris shot him a glare and gave him the bird.

"I am not interested in finding love, I want to find..." Chris was cut off by Carlos.

"Your sister, we know... we know after everything that happened... she was right to worry about Raccoon City, but she was not right about the Birkins" Carlos told him keeping his tone somber knowing that Chris was missing his little sister.

"Chris, you said it yourself, she only sent a reply to your letter about getting into S.T.A.R.S and that she was a glad for you, also stating she was fine and to not bother her again" Jill replied and Chris sighed.

"I hoped that the PO box address would let me find her again, but the place I went to was abandoned and now I have no idea where she is or if she has died or if Umbrella found her and have killed her" Chris whispered keeping his eyes on the road.

"Once we get the Birkins out of Raccoon City, then we can go and find your sister and take down Irons, Umbrella and whoever else is their partners are" Carlos stated calmly and Chris nodded in agreement.

Silver - Thank you everyone for reading, I hope you like the changes and I wonder if anyone can guess where that 'Elsewhere' section is and who it involves? Also I will be changing a few more things, hope you like the changes. Also, I will have a flashback of how Chris and Jill met Carlos. Plus I have finally decided on Leon's history and there will be another fandom added once I reach either chapter 5 or 6.

Loki - You and your guessing games, Silver... what am I going to do with you? Please leave a review (FF) or comment and kudos (AO3).

Silver - Final note, I can not remember if in Resident Evil 1, if Albert revealed that Birkin was part of it, if he did I am changing that and only having that Chris, Jill and Carlos believing that Chief Irons and Albert were working together. Also I am having that William gave control of the orphanage to Irons about 4 years after Claire left.
