It is Katniss's Wedding day, after years of stalking Peeta and falling for him, gaining freedom she finally gets her man.

I do not own the Hunger Games

"Stop fidgeting," Delly said.

"Why do we need to be so dressed up?" Gale grumbled.

"Because your best friend is getting married."

Gale didn't want to wear the tie. But having his precious wife's hands on his chest mollified him.

After three years, Delly's beauty had somehow intensified. Gale had awoken from his injury to a free world. It had taken him a long time to recover. However, when he learned Dells was pregnant, all of the sacrifices were worth his pain. Their firstborn was born free from the Hunger Games. They named him Rye after the man who helped the districts to freedom.

Boudica was touched when Delly named their firstborn after her son and she was near tears when they named her as the Godmother. Little Rye was a quiet boy but he was curious and often got into trouble, not that Boudica cared. She treated him as if he were her own grandchild, often spoiling him with extra sweets.

"Stop looking at me that way," Delly said.

"What way?"

"Gale, we have four children under the age of five."

He grinned lopsidedly. "I love you."

His words had the desired effect, Delly smiled at him.

"You're such a flirt."

"Only with cobblers' daughters. I have a thing for them," Gale said, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.

Delly giggled.

He leaned down and kissed her until she was breathless and flushed.

"Oh…" Delly said, fanning herself. "Nope, we will not be late for one more thing Gale Hawthorne."

Gale once more wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. He never thought that his perfect life partner would be Delly. But she was the balsam to his fiery temper. She was better than him in every way.

"Okay let's go," Delly said. "I hope our children are alright." They were currently distributed amongst their family right outside of their bedroom.

The babies were being held by Hazelle, Titus, and Rory. Tilda was with Rory, she was an exact copy of Gale. Darius and Corky looked like a mix of them with sandy dark blond hair and gray eyes.

Posy was playing with Rye. Gale supposed he was very lucky. He was learning from Titius how to make and repair shoes. He marveled at his wife's skill. She was a natural with all aspects of the business. Her shoe designs always sold well in the store.

"We're going to be late," Delly said, rushing around to put the babies in their strollers.

Gale caught up with her, "Hey, I need you to relax. Look at them. They are happy with the family." He took her hand and addressed the mob. "Alright everyone got a baby and a baby pack."

"Yes!" the crowd said.

"Vick you got Daniel?"

Smiled, "Check."

"Daniel, you got Posy's stuff?"

"Check," Daniel said.

"Let's head out to the apothecary." The bridal procession was meeting there. When they walked from the shoe shop to the apothecary next door, they found Prim pacing.

The ceremony was going to take place at the justice building so that the entire district could be present. The smaller wedding feast was going to be in the bakery. While the entire district wasn't going to be at the feast, all of the district families were going to be sent home with a complete meal, including cake.

Katniss was going to get ready at the apothecary along with Primrose and her mother. Posy was going to be the flower girl and Rye was the ring bearer.

Prim's cheeks were splotchy and she was clutching her cat Buttercup tightly to her chest. The poor cat looked distressed and not just because he had a pink bow on. "Merrrooowwww."

"What's wrong?" Delly asked.

"Katniss is fighting with Plutarch. Says she ain't going to wear that…" Prim pointed to a gaudy white dress fashioned with oddly placed feathers, pearls, and yards of lace. Prim was trying to hold Buttercup in her arms. "Stop wiggling, Buttercup…"

The wedding dress was horrendous.

"That's not the dress Katniss agreed to wear," Delly gasped.

"Flapping biscuits," Gale said. "That poor man will not make it out of here alive."

"Hazelle, there must be something we can do?" Delly asked.

"Only a stick of dynamite can help that thing," Prim said.

Hazelle and Delly stood at either side. "Where is Lavender?"

"Trying to get Katniss out of the room," Prim said.

Delly and Hazelle exchanged a look.

"Do you have a sewing kit and how much time do we have before Katniss has to go down the aisle?" Hazelle asked.

"Yes and about thirty minutes," Prim said.

Haxzelle handed Tilda to Gale. "Grandma will be right back sweety."

"Go get your sewing kit and meet us outside of Katniss' room," Delly said, taking the dress off the hook.

"Come on Buttercup, we need to find that sewing kit!" Prim said to her cat.

"Mrrreooooww," Buttercup grumbled as they left.

As Delly and Hazelle headed upstairs they heard Katniss yell. "I'M NOT WEARING THAT MONSTROSITY!"

"Oh dear we are going to run late," Effie said, putting her hand against her chest.

Haymitch snorted.

"Miss Everdeen, this is the dress you chose…" Plutarch said through the door.

"No, it's not," Delly said.

Plutarch, who was wearing all white with a purple waistcoat to match his hair, spun to look at her.

"You are lying, the dress was much simpler than this…" Delly pointed behind her.

"Listen…"

"We were all there when Katniss chose her dress. This wasn't it…and you know it," Lavender said.

"Fine…we had to punch it up a little. The dress she wanted was not going to be viewed favorably by the Capitol viewers." Plutarch stood imperiously.

"Plutarch you can't do the girl wrong. I get that the Capitol is expecting glitz and glamor, but we are not in the Capitol," Haymitch finally spoke. "As it is, you've got a three-ring circus out there."

"Hey, we can fix the dress to convince Katniss to walk down the aisle," Delly said. Delly then narrowed her eyes at Plutarch. "And I need your outfit."

"My clothing…" Plutarch's eyes opened wide.

Delly and Hazelle shared a look and nodded. "And then you will be leaving," Hazelle said.

"But?" Plutarch spat.

"Do you want me to get Madge?" Delly asked, smiling. Plutarch shook his head no. Madge was a no-nonsense type of person and if she heard what was going on she would call the entire thing off.

"Effie, would you mind escorting Plutarch to the bathroom? I need his pants, his vest, and his white shirt."

"Oh, dear, is this necessary?" Effie said.

"Do you want this wedding to go off without a hitch?" Haymitch asked.

"Come along, Plutarch," Effie said. "I need your clothing, I am sure you have a spare?"

Plutarch narrowed his eyes but left with Effie trailing after him.

"Haymitch, go follow them to make sure everything goes to plan," Hazelle said.

"What are you planning?" Lavender asked.

"You'll see," Delly said.

"Katniss, open the door," Hazelle said. "The Capitol, people have left. It's just me, your mother, and Delly."

Katniss opened the door. "I'm warning you I'm not wearing that!"

"We're going fix it…" Hazelle said.

"Actually," Delly said gleefully when Prim brought the sewing kit. "We're going to destroy it,"

Outside of the Justice building, Peeta stood by Gale. All of the district was gathered, sitting in chairs arranged in rows. There was a pergola decorated with flowers for the wedding. Peeta nervously looked toward a grumpy Plutarch clad in all purple going over the day's events with Cressida.

Cressida's team was in place. They were waiting for Katniss to make her appearance. They were running fifteen minutes behind, which no doubt drove poor Effie crazy.

Suddenly there was a hush in the crowd as the District Seven cars pulled up. The music began to play. This was not the typical District Twelve ceremony. They had included something from all of the districts as a nod to the unity. The music began and out leapt Buttercup.

There were gasps and chuckles as the cat with his large satin pink bow marched up the aisle as if he were the President of Panem. He came to the end of the aisle, turned around, and sat down like a century staring out at the crowd daring them to laugh at his importance.

Peeta shook his head in wonder at Prim's beloved cat. Katniss would call him ugly, but Peeta called that cat an acquired taste.

Next out of the car came Primrose. He smiled as Prim glided out of the car and walked down the aisle wearing a beautiful green dress and carrying an orange candle. Lighting a candle was a custom from District Five and would be done toward the end of the ceremony. She was followed by Delly in a similar dress, but Delly carried a woven grass cord from District 11, for the handfasting part of the ceremony.

Next, Rye came in with the rings on top of a pillow and people were awed at the sight of the smartly dressed boy in his black suit with a white dress shirt and tie. The rings were bejeweled and a gift from District One for the couple to exchange. The music changed and the song that was played was from District Three, it was beautiful, and it set the tone for Posy to playfully walk down the aisle dropping flowers, a Capitol tradition.

The music changed again as there was only one car left. There was a heightened sense of expectation. Katniss came out holding a bouquet of grains to represent District Nine, however, it wasn't the bouquet Peeta was looking at, it was Katniss.

The white flowing dress made her look angelic, everyone gasped at the sight of her. Even Plutarch sat up and smiled. Her face was obscured by the shimmery veil from District Eight, but Peeta saw that she'd left her hair down.

Peeta couldn't wait to tell her how beautiful she looked.

"Hi," he mouthed.

"Hi," she mouthed back.

"You look beautiful," he said as he gently pushed back the veil.

Her hands shook a little as he held them. Seeing her nervousness eased Peeta's own nerves. He could be strong for her.

They walked hand in hand together to the side of the pergola and planted a tree together in the tradition of District 7 to symbolize the idea of planting roots together. Then they carved their initials in a stone in the tradition of District 2 as a symbol of the permanence of their love. The vows came from District Ten. Peeta slid the ring onto Katniss's finger and Katniss slid the ring onto Peeta's finger.

Then came the handfasting from District Eleven, the woven grass was wrapped around their wrists to show how their souls were forever bound. With their hands bound together, they lit the candle. Before sharing a kiss they touched each other's lips with salt water as was the custom from District Four.

Finally came the moment they were all waiting for, their own district's custom. As they seared the bread over the candle, the entire district stood and began singing the district's own wedding song. They began to press three fingers to their lips to salute. A sign that you were loved, a sign that you were respected, a sign that you were important. There wasn't a dry eye in the venue when Katnis fed Peeta the bread. Because Katniss Everdeen had just become Katniss Mellark.

When they arrived at the bakery, Katniss was shuffled away into his parents' living quarters.

"What do you think they're doing in there?" Gale asked as he patiently swayed the babies in the stroller.

"You'll see," Prim said.

"What's going on Prim?" Peeta asked.

"There was a kerfuffle over the dress," Haymitch said.

"Delly fixed it, removed all of this gaudy stuff, and made the dress spectacular. She also made Katniss something for the party…" Prim said.

Peeta didn't care. As long as Katniss was happy, that was all that mattered. When they began making their entrance to the meal, Peeta once more was struck. Katniss came out wearing a white pantsuit. The white satin stripes that ran vertically from the waist to the bottom of the pant legs were bejeweled on the side with pearls and lace.

"Delly made this from Plutarch's clothing…" Katniss spun around showing off her slender figure.

"You look glorious," Peeta said. "Now let's go knock their socks off."

Katniss leaned into him and kissed him, just as the door opened and the rowdy crowd cheered.

They walked in and both danced and enjoyed themselves, not noticing the cameras. When the night was over Plutarch slid over to Delly. There was a younger man with gold eyeliner next to him.

Delly watched Rain chase Corin.

"Come on Corin baby!" Rain said as he ran after her.

As Rain spoke, Corin frowned. She shook her head and walked away. Delly wondered what in the world Rain had said.

"Friends of yours?" Plutarch asked.

"Yes," Delly said.

"Delly I want you to meet, Cinna."

"You designed my dress…" Delly said excitedly.

"I did, and I had designed the original wedding dress Katniss was supposed to wear until Plutarch got his hands on it."

"It was a monstrous gown. Not for someone like Katniss," Delly said watching Katniss twirl on the dance floor.

"What you did was quite impressive," Plutarch said. "It was just the right touch. And what you did with my clothing…"

"I made the dress convertible. Gave Katniss the choice to take off the skirt of the gown leaving the top part. I tailored your pants to fit her and used parts of your shirt and vest to amp up the trousers."

"How did you do it so quickly?" Cinna asked.

"Well, most women in the district can sew." Delly said, "I have sewing machines in the cobbler shop. I just adjusted the needles and thread. Between Hazelle, myself, and Katniss's mother, we were able to complete the pieces quite quickly."

"That was impressive," Cinna said. "Listen, I like your design. I have a feeling her pantsuit will become all of the rage in the Capitol and elsewhere. I would like to know if you'd like to consult with me."

"Really?" Delly wasn't sure. She turned to see her kids.

"She'd love to," Gale said out of nowhere. He was holding Rye's hand. "I'm her husband, I think you're going to love working with her."

"Here is my card, we'll talk after the wedding." Cinna walked away along with Plutarch.

"Gale…"

"Delly you are very talented and someone from the Capitol wants to work with you, that's a no-brainer. Say yes."

"But our children," Delly said.

"You forget you've got me. I don't mind working at the shoe shop…and besides, I want your dreams to come true."

Delly squealed and hugged Gale.

Across the dance floor, Katniss pulled back to watch Delly jump into Gale's arm. "What do you think is going on over there?"

"I hope it's not another baby," Peeta said. "I mean little Lemon or Orange…"

Katniss swatted his chest. "Behave, Mr. Mellark."

"Don't look now but James the Peacekeeper just asked your mother to dance," Peeta said.

"I am not sure if I like him or if I want to shoot him with one of my arrows?"

"Well if you shoot him, please do not do it around me, I want to claim plausible deniability."

Katniss chuckled. "I know that my mother is on the fence…"

"How do you feel about your mother possibly dating someone else?"

"To be fair, at first I was outraged. But then I asked myself if it was fair for her to spend the rest of her life alone." Katniss put her head on Peeta's shoulders. "I want her to have what we have."

"I feel old…"

Katniss looked around, "Well not too old to um.."

"Nope, not feeling old anymore."

They snuck away and they weren't missed except by Corky and his family who were watching the events below and were anticipating the feast they were going to eat.

When the wedding aired on television, it was the highest-ranking television program ever. Katniss's pantsuit became an instant hit. Despite all of the programs made to help, it was the wedding that helped cement the country into a nation.

People saw that despite their supposed differences, they were all the same. It was their differences that made them stronger. They saw the small touches and nods incorporated into the wedding ceremony. For weeks Katniss and Peeta received all sorts of letters and tokens from people from all over the nation.

Four years after their wedding, they were once more getting ready for another life-changing event.

Peeta smiled at her, as they walked out of his bedroom. "I talked to Madge last night."

"How is she?"

"She's as busy as ever, and she can't believe that the people voted for her."

"Madge was always destined to become president." Katniss was glad for her friend.

Right before she decided to run for the presidency, she met someone from the Capitol. Strabo Sejanus Plinth, he was a Capitolite with roots from District Two. She enjoyed his company and was engaged but they were going to wait until her term as president was over.

"Madge said Sejanus wanted to come out here to meet us. She said something about him being nicer than a cheese-bun?"

"A cheese-bun?" Katniss said innocently.

"I know that's some sort of girl code, and I don't want to know what it means," Peeta chuckled.

Katniss laughed. "I'm glad she's happy."

"Peeta," his father called from below. "We're here!"

"I'll be right there," Peeta shouted down. "Do you want to change your sweater," Peeta asked, picking up her tucker cable knit sweater.

"I'm fine," Katniss said.

"Are you sure, you always get cold?"

"Fine," Katniss said, removing her lighter sweater and tying the warmer one around her middle.

They both headed down to the bakery to meet his parents.

"It's so weird that your dad isn't going to be living here with your mother in the bakery," Katniss whispered. They were having a farewell lunch with the family.

Last year Euegne and Boudica decided they wanted to retire and travel. Peeta's parents had earned enough money to be able to leave in a few weeks for a romantic trip around the districts. Sejanus and Madge arranged for them to stay at the Victors Village in each district while they traveled. Bouidca was dying to meet Finnick Odair, while Eugene wanted to meet Beetee.

"My mom is the one who persuaded him," Peeta gave her a lopsided grin. "She knows the bakery is in good hands."

"Don't remind me your mother keeps on hinting at grandbabies," Katniss muttered as they reached the landing. Even though Rye was loved and treated like a grandbaby, Hazelle often reminded Boudica that she was the leader in the grandchildren's department.

"Are you working on those grandbabies yet?" Bouidca blurted.

Katniss felt her cheeks heat.

"Mom," Peeta said.

Boudica pouted.

"Don't worry you'll be the first to know, after Lavender, dear," Eugene said, embracing Boudica.

"How come Lavender would find out first?" Boudica questioned, frowning as they grabbed the fresh bread and dessert they were bringing over to Gales.

"Well, because Lavender is a healer and Katniss will go to her first to confirm the pregnancy," Eugene answered.

Katniss knew she had to look as red as a sun-ripened tomato. She wanted to tell them to stop, because she was pregnant, and it wasn't her mother she'd gone to, it was Prim.

"You call me, I don't care where we're at," Boudica said. "Don't tell my eldest's wife but you're my favorite daughter-in-law, Katniss." She gently placed her hand on Katniss' face. "You convinced my son that the old ways weren't good, and as a result, we're going to see him on our visit."

Katniss smiled, still shocked by how much the woman had changed. She led the way for the hearts of many Merchants to change as well. And these past seven years she has been teaching the real history of District Twelve in the school.

"Will your mother's beau be there?" Eugene asked Katniss.

Katniss laughed.

James the Peacekeeper came back to the district once he finished his last year as a Peacekeeper and was pursuing her mother. They found out he was the Peacekeeper named J who had been stationed in District Twelve before they were switched. He came back as part of the Peacekeepers who wanted to fight in the rebellion.

James brought her mother flowers nearly every day. "It's odd seeing my mother flustered."

"He's a good man, despite what he had to do as a Peacekeeper," Eugene said.

"I told Lavender to give him a chance, she's so stubborn though," Boudica said.

"He keeps on trying," Katniss said.

"I'm glad Madge helped end the contracts that the Peacekeepers had," Peeta said.

"I can't imagine working for 20 years and not being able to get married," Katniss said, recalling Darius.

"At least now they're only deployed for five years and they have the option of having a family," Eugene commented as they entered the Cartwright-Hawthorne residence. They were met by Rye who squeezed Boudica.

"Please don't leave me," he pleaded.

"Oh honey, we'll be back," Boudica said.

"You promise?" Rye asked.

"I promise to send you a postcard from wherever we are."

"You will?" Rye asked, looking at both Eugene and Boudica.

"We promise," Eugene agreed.

"Dells, the troublemakers are here," Gale yelled, as he winked at both Peeta and Katniss. "She should be right out. She's on a call with Cinna. They're finalizing their line of clothing and shoes."

Corky ran past, yelling, waving his little arms.

"Why did I name my kid after your squirrel?" Gale asked Peeta.

"Because he saved your life," Katniss answered.

"Sorry about that," Delly came outside. "I was just speaking to Cinna…" Without turning around Delly said, "Corky I swear if you don't put that down."

Katniss saw Corky with the tree branch in his hand. "How did you know?"

"Mom radar," Delly said.

"Mommy," Tilda ran to her.

"Yes sweetie," Delly said.

"Can I stay with grandma tonight?"

"Of course, you can," Delly said. Then without missing a beat, "Darius you're going to ruin your lunch if you eat that roll."

Darius put the roll down and ran off after Corky.

Katniss swallowed, Delly was an amazing mother of four.

"Gale, can you get them to sit down so that we can start eating? We don't want Eugene or Boudica to be late for their train."

Gale ran after his two boys and caught them and pretended to be like a hovercraft. The boys immediately began to make aircraft noises. Katniss looked over to Peeta and knew instantly he was going to be like that too.

When they settled down to eat, Prim stood up and cleared her throat. "I have some news."

Katniss tried to keep herself from smiling too much. She already knew what her sister was going to announce.

"You are looking at Panem University's first enrolled student!"

There was clapping all around. Primrose was going to become a doctor. Madge finally got her university granted and staffed. That's how she met Sejanus.

"Congratulations, Primrose," Daniel said.

Because of the flow of information, Daniel benefited the most. His treatments allowed him to live a comfortable life now. Even though he wore a brace on his back, he was no longer wheelchair-bound.

Prim sat down and Katniss was going to stand when Eugene stood up.

"I just wanted to say, thank you. I am very excited to take this trip with Boudica. It was something I never thought I'd be able to do. But without the sacrifice of…well…we wouldn't be living in freedom."

Eugene sat down and Katniss looked around wondering if this was going to be the right time to tell everyone. She was going to stand up but then Delly stood.

"Everyone I'd like to say something to. I wanted to thank my husband for holding down everything while I pursue my fashion career. It hasn't been easy, but Gale, you've made this look easy with four children. I don't know how to say thank you."

Gale stood up and kissed Delly passionately, which set off a chorus of 'eww' and giggling. Katniss took a deep breath and stood up before anyone else could say anything.

Everyone looked at her and although this was her family for some reason the words got stuck in her throat.

"Katniss?" Peeta gently put his hand on her hand.

Katniss looked into his eyes and then she recalled the reason this all began. Because a boy who didn't have to burn a few loaves of bread and saved her life. She gripped his hand and blurted out, "I'm pregnant."

Despite the cries of joy and delight everything melted away and it was just Katniss staring at her boy with the bread. It was always supposed to be them. Just them; a huntress and the baker she stalked and married.

THE END

That is the end. As promised though next week I have a Corky Outtake...I wanted to end it with the squirrel that started it all.

But before I go I wanted firstly to thank Norbertsmom. You're my bestie and beta, you encouraged me to write when I did not have any -belief in my ability to write.

Secondly, I wanted to thank everyone who read, gave the story kudos, and wrote lots of comments. This story took me by surprise I mean I set out to write a story about what if Katniss was watching Peeta, and then it just somehow grew from there and all of your comments really pushed me to write my heart out. I stopped writing it out of pure fear.

I kept on asking myself, what if I wasn't a good writer and this was going to be the only story that I would ever write? What if I was an imposter? Then the world turned upside down and I was in a fog. Finally, because of the Dead WIP's society, I have managed to write the Epilogue and a Corky outtake - in my humble opinion it takes a village to make a story and every single one of you are part of that village.

- Hugs to all! Con mucho amor Mega-AuLover
