Announcement at the end.
"Who was that?" Danny cut through the silence swifter than a guillotine.
"An old friend." Felicia did not turn from her seat, staring into the mirror with a melancholy face. She leaned forward, intertwining her fingers as her elbows rested on the counter.
Danny raised a brow, weary of the term old friend. He did not know much of Felicia's past, but that answer made part of him uneasy.
He would wonder why, but shook off the thought. Right now, he had a very attractive ex-girlfriend-now-friend to interrogate.
Easier said than done as she stared at him in nothing but a robe. A delicate finger played at the hem of the outfit, teasing the boy with more than he could handle now. Not that Danny would not mind seeing such a sight, but his mind knew better than to let his hormones take the reign.
Still, tonight would get him nothing, leaving next time for tomorrow. And he did not wait a sec before interrogating Felicia.
"Blue Eyes, I don't think now is an appropriate time for privacy," Felicia teased as she walked down the hallway.
Danny had wasted no time when the school bell rang, alerting the student body it was almost time for class. Answers were needed, and he knew getting them from his ex would require more unpredictability, something he could use against the blonde beauty.
The only problem now was how. While the ghost boy had experience against Felicia and her alter ego, all it tight him was that the girl was on guard and would likely have thought out counter actions against him.
"I said, I want to talk." Danny reiterated his words from when he first saw Felicia at the school entrance. "How does that mean privacy?"
"Because the hallway is definitely not the place for the score you want." She pointed at the nearby students who were watching the popular ex-couple. Boys and girls looked on with envy as they muttered to themselves.
"Look, Danny's following Felicia."
"They must be going out again."
"Why does she have to pick Fenton?"
Annoyed, Danny grabbed Felicia's hand and pulled her around the corner. He took her to an empty stairway, turning them invisible and guiding her through the walls. Stepping out, the duo landed in the janitor's closet. The only other occupants were a mop, bucket, and shelf of cleaning products.
Felicia hummed dangerously as a twinkle came to her eye.
"Don't even think about it," Danny said with crossed arms. "I brought you here for answers."
"And if I don't have them?" The girl leaned in with fluttering eyelashes.
"Oh, please. We both know you have them. Now talk. Who was that person, and why did he or she get such a rise out of you?"
An inquisitive hum came from the girl as she straightened her posture. Tapping her chin, her poker face shielded her thoughts. All this did was make the ghost boy tap his foot, staring at the girl as he made his way to the door. Leaning on it to prevent an escape route. The next minute was slow and painful as he grew impatient.
The opposing tactic here was stalling for time. It would not be long for the school bell to ring. Felicia knew this as she glanced at her watch, but this time, it was Danny's turn to smirk smugly.
"Time's ticking," Danny said, looking at his phone. "I know Lancer will scold me, but what happens when you're late?"
He smirked. "Let's find out."
"Funny," Felicia said after a minute. She put her hands in the door frame and again leaned into the ghost boy. Her eyes were predatory as she licked her lips. "Here's a question. What happens when I tell Mr. Lancer that I was late because you took me to the janitor's closet? Hmmm?"
Her face inched closer, soft lip puckering and pursing.
Danny's face glowed red with blood pumping rushing up. The hard wood of the door closed him in like a mouse.
"That being said, remember this," Felicia started.
Then, the sound of the door clicking was heard as it was swung open. Danny dropped dead like a paper weight. From the floor, he watched as Felicia's hand on the knob closed the closet shut.
"—Corner a cat, get scratched."
Danny lay there, dumbfounded, as the girl walked away. Stuttering, self-beration flooded his mind as he slammed a fist in the tile floor.
"Great. I should've thought about the door more," Danny muttered.
The bell rang in the empty hallway.
"And I should've known I'd be late," he groaned, getting up. "Guess I'll have to wait till later."
And that later came sooner as Danny went through the motions for another school day. He would get his chance in computer science.
Danny had taken his usual seat next to Felicia. Normally, this arrangement was because the latter wanted to be next to the former, but today this was the case in reverse as the ghost boy would eye the girl every now and then.
Sam rolled her eyes as she went to her tablet. She knew it would be impossible to interrogate the thieving cat in class, especially with how Mr. Falluca made sure everyone paid attention.
"I know I'm beautiful, but I doubt you'll pass class at this rate," Felicia teased in a whisper. The glances were subtle but were still detectable to a master thief. "Aren't you still almost failing this class?"
"Nice try, but Tucker's been helping me. I'm B-ing this class right now," Danny whispered back. His eyes leaned to the side. "And if there's one thing I know about you, if I let you out of my sight, you're gone."
"Worried I might steal something?"
"Funny. But I think I know what you want to steal, and I won't let you."
Felicia pursed her lips for a moment. Silent, she typed away at her laptop for the rest of the class, leaving her ex alone, for the moment.
It was an almost Pyrrhic victory for the raven-haired boy as he waited for the bell to ring.
And when that bell rang, Danny grabbed his laptop and books as he felt Felicia's presence leave. If only he could tell where she was in her catsuit. Her skintight, form-fitting—no. Now was not the time to be distracted.
A buzz came from his phone. Checking it, an alert appeared, signaling a text from Felicia, saying:
Sorry. Not sorry.
With a raised brow, the ghost boy stared at the message. He looked to the door with a shrug, getting up to leave. However, his leg locked mid-step as he fell to the ground.
Students walking by stopped and laughed as they pointed at him.
The cold sensation of the floor on his upper leg alerted Danny to what happened as he got up to see his pants fall down. The button had popped off.
He huffed, pulling up his jeans as he left, keeping his pants on as he left the classroom. The laughter of nearby students was heard, a familiar tone, long heard too many times. Luckily, he kept a spare pair in the locker room from his earlier high school days, but he knew this was not over.
Not by a long shot.
The next period proved that. Felicia entered the classroom holding the only bane of her educational existence: Home Economics.
The kitten felt her left eye twitch as she stared at the various cooking utensils in front of her. Today's class was about making a casserole. Simple, yes, but not for the kitten.
Felicia cringed at her inability to use everyday kitchen appliances. And she was not the only one. Unlike the other classes, no one wanted to partner up with her.
And for good reason.
"Why can't it be a simple sandwich?" She groaned, picking up a spatula.
Next to her was Danny, the only one who partnered with her in these sessions. With a smirk, the ghost boy whistled a happy tune as he rested his elbow on the counter to hold his head, which was in the clouds.
Time to turn on the charm.
"Hey, Blue Eyes," she whispered with pursed lips and big eyes, fluttering her eyelashes. "Mind helping a girl out? You wouldn't want any other goop in my hair, would you?"
"No can do. I need to make sure my pants don't fall down. Wouldn't want to get in trouble," Danny sang.
Pouting, Felicia sighed as she was left to cook the casserole. All she needed to do was follow the recipe provided. This was no big deal. There have been security systems more complicated than a panned dish.
And all the other students were doing fine.
"Alright." The girl rolled up the sleeves of her pink blouse. "I can do this. How hard can it be?"
Mr. Lancer walked towards the pool for a nice free period of Shakespeare and toasted rye bread. He looked to the quiet hallways, glancing at the other classes with a smile.
"You know, at first, I wasn't certain about all this tech, but I gotta admit, the school hasn't been any better since. Now the school board won't ignore us or threaten to cut our budget becuase of ghost attacks," he said.
But his mirthful delight was dashed as he neared the door to Home Economics. Only a few feet away, and the door swung open as baked, splattered casserole pieces flung into his path.
"Fast Food Nation! What on earth happened?" Lancer screamed as he checked the classroom.
Food was caked and stained all over the room as Felicia wiped mashed vegetables off her eyes. While she bore the brunt of her cooking catastrophe, next to Danny, the only casualties were the other stations.
When Danny made it known he would not help the blonde girl, everyone ducked at first notice. This earned the ghost boy the ire of the entire class and teachers for purposely letting this happen.
As punishment, the two were sentenced to clean up the mess.
All Danny had to say about this entire predicament was, "How?"
The school day ended with another round of homework to be done by tomorrow. On top of that, the new technological aspect of the educational curriculum entailed semester-long projects. It was only the middle of October, but Danny had barely kept up with whatever was assigned to him, only able to keep up thanks to Tucker.
The technogeek was really showing his intelligence this year and was always happy to help his best friend.
But that was not on the ghost boy's mind. Right now, he was at the mall, tailing a kitten that seemed to stray from her usual path.
Walking through the entrance, Sam tapped on the boy's shoulder as she pointed to a level above.
"Thanks for coming," Danny said.
"Dude, we got your back," Tucker replied, pulling out a mall map on his smartphone.
"And now, we have to watch Felicia's...why does this taste bittersweet?" Sam snarked.
Instead of the usual tease about roaming out at night, Felicia had said nothing to the ghost boy about where she would go. Their usual game of cat and ghost could be considered postponed, but the latter knew better.
"Tucker, you found anything?" Danny asked.
"Not really. I mean, there's a big sale at Discount Diamonds, but ten bucks says it's cubic zirconium." Tucker thumbed away at his smart device.
"Doesn't mean it's not worth hocking," Sam snarked.
"No. Felicia might be a thief, but she wouldn't go so low. She likes a challenge," Danny said, counting off the high-priced items the kitten stole here and there. "For all I know, this is just to get under my skin."
Still, the trio went to investigate. This was the easy part as the vast sea of mallgoers allowed them to cover from a close distance.
"Remind me again why you can't just go ghost?" Sam asked. "You can turn invisible."
"It's easier, I know, but if I keep using my powers, Felicia will just keep her guard up. One thing I've learned is I can't be predictable with her," Danny answered, keeping his eyes on the blonde girl.
That was proving to be difficult as the kitten ducked and dove in different directions to deter the horde of boys staring and catcalling. To this day, Felicia could turn a crowd, making Danny feel a tinge of jealousy as he and his friends followed.
Tucker whistled as he noted the many rejects flinging toward the unwanted admirers.w
"Wow. I know Felicia turns heads, but I forgot she could do it like this," he said. "I mean, if it wasn't for Velma, I'd—hello!"
Danny and Sam stopped as they saw their friend freeze at the front of Tech Boutique. The glass had a paper sign on it that said fifty percent off a selection of appliances and gadgets. Sales were always the lotus eater machinations of corporations that targeted the weak-minded. Teenagers were in the target demographic, and Tucker was no different as he eyed a new smartwatch he had been eyeing for months now.
And, unbeknownst to Danny and Sam, because of his academic improvement, his parents had been talking with him about rewarding such excellent behavior.
"Tucker! No!" Sam grabbed the boy from behind, attempting to keep Tucker on target and away from corporate greed.
But her grip was not strong enough, nor did she have the energy to keep up as Tucker's love of technology outlasted. Reluctantly, the boy was let go as he wandered the store for his prize.
The coveted smartwatch was swarmed with tech aficionados, who had also come for the great prices. One glance told Danny and Sam this would take a while for their friend, wishing him luck as they left.
Going back to the chase, the ghost boy and goth were relentless as they managed to catch up, eyeing Felicia across the mall. Sam darted, threading through the crowd as she kept enough distance not to be seen with Danny following.
The mall seemed packed with shoppers going for upcoming sales. Black Friday sales had not arrived, yet prices were low enough to entice practically the entire town.
Sam rolled her eyes as she spotted a line going past the exits at stores like Frilly and Pink, Gameworld, and Albatross & Finch. There were so many things she could list off that were better than spending money. One of them was soon spotted as she heard a crowd chanting.
It was the pet shop, Pets and the City. A large crowd was seen with picket signs as they circled in front of the store.
"No more pet mills! No more abuse! No animals on a noose!" They chanted. That last one might have pushed the message too far, but it seemed to be there for the rhyme.
Sam dropped everything as she saw the crowd. Through her connections with organizations to protest for any rights, specifically animal cruelty and the consumption of meat, it was no secret pet stores got their animals from mills, where pets were breed like products.
It was, is, and will continue to be one of the most horrible atrocities she ever heard of. And it seemed Pets and the City was no different.
However, she knew that Felicia Hardy was more important right now. And while part of her begged to join the protest, she had to pause on helping the animals in bittersweet defeat.
"Just go," Danny said with a hand on her shoulder. This way was better, especially if he did not need to make anyone else invisible.
Watching Sam join the protest, the ghost boy returned to where he last saw his ex. Ex. It was almost funny how the blonde girl was now a target, a mark, an X. The irony was not lost on him. Still, he knew there was nothing funny about it.
The same could not be said from Felicia's perspective as he caught up to her. She was standing in front of a shop, humming to herself, before a green eye peered over her shoulder.
"Having fun, Blue eyes?" Felicia cooed.
Danny froze, glaring at the girl from the corner he hid behind. Showing himself, he sighed loudly. "So, you did know. How long?" He asked.
"Around when Tucker screamed about checking out the sale at the tech shop." Felicia shrugged. She turned around, flipping her platinum blonde hair as she put a hand on her hip. "After that, it was just a matter of zigzagging around the shops."
"And you're saying now, because...?" Danny rolled his hand as he dragged the last word.
"The fun stops here. The chase is over. No more playing cat...not that you ever were one." She smiled smugly.
"Says who?" Danny asked.
Felicia did not answer. Humming innocently, her finger pointed to the store sign.
The ghost boy was perplexed but looked up as he saw the sign read Chicktoria Secret. A blush appeared as he slowly looked down, seeing the hangers and walls full of lingerie, underwear, sleepwear, swimsuits, and other outfits sold primarily to women and growing girls.
Saliva was gulped, and he turned to Felicia, pointing at the store inquisitively. A simple nod was his answer, and the girl went inside with a victorious smile.
"You coming?" Felicia said, glancing over her shoulder. "I mean, you have seen underwear before. And I have a feeing you've seen girl in them too."
Danny said nothing, backing away as he controlled his hormones. Normally at this point, he'd go ghost, but he knew this would hang over him forever, with the kitten holding the rope.
"I...uh...I—"
"Please tell me you're not going to dignify that," said another voice.
The two looked to their side to see Valerie staring at them like they were about to steal from the cookie jar.
"You know what, don't answer that." Valerie held a hand up, turning her attention towards the blonde girl. "But something tells me I came at the right moment."
"You need a new bra too?" Felicia smirked.
"Last I checked, I'm still a growing girl." Valerie flexed an arm with a smile. The kitten's brand of catty remarks were no stranger to her, and, Unlike Danny, she could handle it better.
A coy chuckle was heard as Felicia strutted into the store and Valerie followed.
Danny watched in bewilderment as his mind teetered between concern and hormones. This emotional torrent was rode through as he opted to not stare at the blonde girl, nor would he undress her with his mind—
The ghost boy slapped himself, closed his eyes, and walked away. His steps were careful as he blindly left, but not enough as he tripped on his footing.
Felicia eyed the aisles of undergarments, keeping a finger out to point at whatever caught her attention. Pausing every couple of steps, Valerie's stare was felt full force. An occasional grunt was heard in impatience, along with a foot tapping.
This was to be expected. Valerie's heart was on her sleeve most of the time. All the time if Hardy was with her, and that was not counting the martial art matches.
"Didn't you need a bra?" Felicia cooed. Keeping a hand on the racks, she kept her attention on her chaperone wannabe through her perusing facade.
"Yes. But unlike you, I don't make it a hassle." Valerie had kept her distance, eyeing certain pairs every now and then. While she kept close to the vest, her sublty was not enough to go unnoticed. "Just pick one out. They're all the same."
"True, but I like to look good. Even with what's underneath." Felicia smirked at the tinge of red on the darker-toned girl's face. "Besides, I'm growing everywhere. I need new panties as well."
The kitten smirked, hearing Valerie groan. The small blush grew rapidly, almost glowing, before hormones were pushed aside. The huntress smacked her face, shaking her covered expression as she followed.
"I know you're doing that to get a rise, but don't you think saying that in public goes a bit too far?" Valerie removed her hand, showing her blank stare.
"it's the truth. Besides, I don't care what others think," Felicia said, picking up sets of underwear in pink, black, and red.
"You should. Especially if everyone at school uses it against you."
"Oh, I know that." Felicia's tone was neutral, almost dark, as she froze. "I know that."
Whatever Valerie wanted to say was lodged in her throat as she saw her classmate uncharacteristically silent. All she heard were the clinking of metal hangers as the two continued their shopping.
It was almost like being outside in the dead of winter, with an emphasis on the dead. Walking to the changing rooms, Valerie hd to change the subject, if not for the atmosphere than her sake.
"So, you and Danny have been pretty close lately." Valerie leaned against the walls of the changing room. She could hear a faint hum of happiness coming from the other side of the door. "Care to elaborate?"
Felicia said nothing as she went to an open room. All the while, she leaned back, keeping an ear out with her head turned towards the door. A sharp eye stared at the closed entryway, a small frown then came.
"You want answers? Then you're gonna have to scratch my back," Felicia said.
"Ok, that better not mean what I think it means," Valerie retorted red-faced.
"I mean, guard the door."
"Oh..."
Valerie repositioned herself against the door, standing still as she looked around. Her eyes widened as she remembered how this was an underwear shop. No boys would casually walk in here and over to the dressing rooms or risk losing popularity and becoming labeled a creep and outcast.
The staff would also catch any boys who attempted such acts.
Back against the door, Valerie looked past the aisles of feminine wear and into the general mall. The silence was dull. "So...you and Danny. You're back together?" she asked.
"No, but he stopped hating me. Basically, it was becoming pointless, we're back to friends, for now." Felicia giggled from within the changing room. Valerie did not need to ask for context, knowing how obvious the former still chased her friend.
However, it was clear Danny kept a vice grip on set boundaries and their friendship. All the blonde girl could do was respect it, as far as the huntress could tell. There had been times when she noted the two in the hallway, whispering something as Danny glared at Felicia. Whatever it was, it seemed whatever rules the boy set had the kind of loopholes you did not need a law degree to find.
Sometimes, these quiet fights could be seen after school.
"I guess that's alright," Valerie said. "But from the way you push buttons, I think you'll need to wait until you get your doctorate before he'll start holding your hand again."
Felicia hummed in response. A seductive cooing was heard as she studied her reflection with each new set of underwear. Hormones flooded as she kept her emotions under control, knowing such thoughts would not help. "Maybe," she said. "But you don't know those buttons as well as I do."
Valerie was heard growling, ignored as she stayed guard. For now, she was here guarding as she probed for answers, and perhaps she would get the ones she wanted next time. Now was not the time to hastily act.
The night air was cool once more, dropping more with each night. Thanksgiving was approaching fast, and the Christmas season was approaching fast. Danny could feel it as tensions rose at his house. Though he was grateful for Deadpool's intervention last year, the merc's words seemed untrustworthy for the Fenton Parents.
Even Felicia could sense it from outside the house, much to her worry. And speaking of the kitten, the nights had been less eventful as jewelry and museums remained intact in their inventory.
To most, this was a good sign, but for heroes like Danny Phantom, it was more like a calm before the storm. He was still curious about Felicia's friend, or more importantly, what was going on. Since the nights were quiet, that only meant getting the answers at the source: Felicia's apartment.
Arriving at the building, Danny phased into the room, where Felicia was waiting for him in a bathrobe. She turned coyly, a matching smile on her face as the blue, fluffy coat loosely covered herself.
"You took too long. I was growing bored. So I took a bath and was just plotting a course for the night. You know how girls liked to be chased," Felicia said coyly.
"How is it, I'm the one with the super powers, yet a lot of the nights, you stay ahead?" Danny asked the question incredulously, wondering if the universe was having fun at his expense.
The blonde shrugged, strutting to her vanity mirror as she removed her makeup. The ghost boy kept his eyes on her, knowing she was putting on airs to mess with him.
And it was working.
"You may have the muscle, but I got the stamina to go more than one round." She looked at Danny's reflection. "Then again, I do love a man with staying power."
"And it's not gonna end till I catch you." Danny kept a stern tone, keeping his blood at a steady pace like his heartbeat.
"I know, but is that what's really on your mind, Phantom?" Felicia, bare-faced, got up and began walking to the kitchen. She never turned around, going straight for the fridge, knowing full well the ghost boy was behind her.
She could feel the stern gaze radiating from his glowing green eyes. Giggling silently, she added a little sway to her hips as she took each step. There was no indication whether this got a rise out of her prey, but that was not the main point. Just as this boy had her attention, the girl practically had a target sign on her back.
The refrigerator was brimming with packaged meals, drinks, and other assorted foods. A protein and vitamin shake was taken out, the bottle shaken before poured into two glasses.
Danny took the glass. This was becoming a habit for the two, making the ghost boy wonder if this devalued what he was doing. However, his mind was on more important matters.
"So...who were you talking to?" Danny asked.
"You know I'll just say 'it was an old friend' again, right?" Felicia began taking a sip of the drink.
"Sorry, standard question."
Felicia giggled as the ghost boy cleared his throat.
"Ok, better question: what the heck is so important about what this friend said?"
"Why? You jealous?"
"Knock it off, Felicia. This is serious." Danny slammed a fist on the counter.
"I know, and I'm seriously keeping this a secret." Felicia went back to her drink. "A girl can have secrets too, you know."
Danny sighed, putting down his drink. This was going nowhere, and he realized he had gone to a dead end. "I'm gonna have to follow you to New York, right?" he asked, looking at the coy smile on the girl's face.
Life, especially his, was becoming full of surprises.
Hi. I have a feeling many were expecting a different story to be updated, but I'm working on the rest. Anyway, I want to take the time to announce something. This will be on the next chapters of all my other stories.
Over the past few months, I've been balancing real life and my fanfics, but with inflation, there are some problems rising. To possibly help, I've started a Pat re oN account(The site won't let me have it spelled normally). You can find it on the site; my username is the same as my Fanfiction and Archive of Our Own name, BeConFuzzled Wrtier. If you like what I'm writing and can help support it, then give my page a visit.
Now, next time, we have more of Felicia's home life explored, along with the Theive's Guild. Thank you all for you time.
Special Thanks! to Flower Princess11 for all her help!

NiteOwl18: Thanks! Though now, I've fully mourned my cat's death.
RonaldM40196867: Alot of the jocks have now that the nerds and geeks have more power over them. The new technology has given them a confidence boost. Valerie wants to get back at Felicia for hurting Danny. Detention and a call to her parents. Dash is still hospitalized, and won't be back till next year, in the fic. Danny was too stunned to see Felicia out of sorts to think about that.
