Hi Readers: My apologies for restarting once more, but I just got lost in the last story I was writing. Now, I hope to make one work. And this time, it might be a bit different again; especially the way it starts, as it's going to be a bit…complicated. Find out what I mean.
Note: Sorry this chapter is so short. I just wanted to get this story started with a bit of background. I promise, they'll get longer.
Chapter 1: You're My Everything
One Year Earlier – April 23, 2015 – Halstead Condo, Chicago
They were a month away from walking down the aisle and becoming Mr. and Ms. Halstead. Just like they were a month away from the day their entire lives changed: the day they lost their first child, their baby girl Natalia. And that was the entire reason why Alexandra Jacobs, the future Ms. Jason "Jay" Halstead, was currently packing up her things: because she knew that there was no way that he was going to want to marry her now. Not when she miscarried their child, the child he wanted more than anything in the entire world. At least, that was what Alex thought. "Alex?" Sighing when she heard his voice, Alex just knew that he got her letter. "Of course, you get it now instead of at the end of the day." She said, referring to how she left the letter she wrote for him saying that she would be gone by the time he got home in his desk; gone as she knew that he didn't want to be with her, let alone marry her when she lost Natalia.
That was the name they were going to give to their daughter: Natalia Grace Halstead.
However, they no longer could do that since she lost the baby. And that's precisely why she was leaving the man she loves, as she just knew that he could never forgive her for loosing their child. "Alex, hey. Stop putting clothes in your bags." Jay said, as he came into their room; the room where they made love to each other and created their late son, the room where he proposed to her and showed her how much he cared. "Why, Jay? Why stop packing when it'll just delay the inevitable." Jay was confused when he heard Alex say that, unsure of what she was talking about. "Jay, be honest with me. Are you really going to want to celebrate your birthday with me tomorrow, when I ruined your dreams?" Jay was just horrified when he heard Alex say that, as that was the furthest thing from the truth. If she thought that her having a miscarriage ruined the life he's been dreaming about, then she was lying to herself.
The life he's dreamed of includes her, and only her. The baby means nothing to him, unless she's the mother of his children. And that's precisely what Jay had to tell Alex right now. "Hey, you know that's not the truth Alex." He said, while walking over to the woman he loves. Meanwhile, Alex stopped packing and just looked at Jay when he walked up to her and placed his hands on her body. "Alex, please. Just listen to me." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, prior to looking up at the man of her dreams; while he placed his hands on her arms and smiled at his fiancé, the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. After which, he stepped close to her and wrapped his arms around her waist to ensure that they were right against one another. "I want you to look into my eyes right now, so that you can listen to me and concentrate on what I'm saying." Alex agreed with Jay, wrapping her arms around his back.
After which, Jay bent down and kissed her softly with the lips she loves more than anything in the entire world. God, the way his lips feel against hers is just something she always loves; they make her melt due to the fact that he's such a great kisser. "You know you'd miss that if you left me." Alex blushed, agreeing with Jay as she most certainly would. "Alex, please. Can you just sit down, and we can talk? Please, you need to take a breath and just think this over for a moment." Taking a breath, Alex agreed with Jay as she knew that was the case. So, she stopped packing and proceeded to make her way over to the head of the bed so that she can sit down and just take it easy. Following her as well, Jay looked at the woman he loves. "Can I sit with you? Hold you?" Alex agreed, as she loves that idea. "I'd very much like that." Smiling, Jay went to sit down with the woman he loves so that he could hold her close to him.
After all, he just knew that would make her realize that she needs to stay: stay here with him, where they can have a gorgeous life with each other. And that's precisely what they want to have. They want to have a gorgeous life with each other, which includes them being married, rather than have them being apart and miserable. She's the light of his world, and she's the woman he wants to be with for the rest of his life, especially since she understands him in a way nobody else does; no other woman understands the PTSD he has from his time overseas as a soldier who did three tours of duty. And that right there: that's the real reason why he proposed to Alex. It wasn't because they were having a baby, it was because of what she helps him with each and every day. "Ok. Now that we're sitting down, I want you to just think about what you're doing. Alex, why are you thinking of leaving?" Alex just looked into Jay's eyes.
After which, she looked down. "Jay, how can you be with me when I lost her?" Shaking his head, Jay pressed his lips to Alex's forehead. "For the same reason I proposed to you: because I love you and you're my everything Alex. You complete me." Looking up when she heard Jay tell her that, Alex just listened. "Alex, I mean that from the bottom of my heart. You complete me, and you've completed me for the past five years. That's why we're engaged, because you complete me, and you really help me. Alex, I have PTSD; I highly doubt that any other woman would be so understanding about that. You've been my biggest supporter when it comes to that, and that's why I want to marry you. Because I love you, and you're the love of my life. You mean the world to me, and that's why I want you to be my wife. It has nothing to do with us having a baby, it's all about how you make me feel…how you help me in more ways than one."
Alex smiled as she heard Jay tell her that, prior to pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Alex, I love you and that's the truth. I want to be with you because I love you, and that's never going to change. Us having kids is just a bonus. The real benefit of marrying you will be being your husband. And I hope that I get to be your husband, because that's what I want." Alex smiled as she heard Jay tell her that, prior to getting close to him and grabbing his hand. After which, she intertwined their fingers and leaned in to kiss him softly. "I love you Jay, and I'm sorry for rushing to judgment. I am not worthy of marrying a guy like you." Jay smirked, as that was a lie. "No, I'm not worthy of marrying such a gorgeous woman like you." Alex smiled as she heard Jay say that, prior to kissing him softly. After which, Jay rolled over on top of her. "You want to go for it?" Alex nodded, as she most certainly does want to go for it: she wants her man.
So, Jay gave her just that: he gave her all of his love and attention due to the fact that he loves her and wants to be hers forever.
