A/N: I ended up splitting the baby shower into a few chapters as it made more sense in my mind this way. Thanks for all the great reviews!
"Oh my gosh! Mom, look who is here!" Sam exclaimed.
"Who?" Angela asked.
"It's Marcie! I didn't know she was coming! Did you?"
"No, but I do know that Mother said she had a few surprises for us. I guess the dresses were just the start of them."
"I wonder what other surprises she may have in store for us."
"I hope not too many more, Sam. But she did a great job organizing this gathering. Why don't you go catch up with Bonnie and Marcie? I'll be okay here."
"Are you sure, Mom?"
"Yes, here comes your Dad with more lemonade so he'll watch over me while you go visit with the girls."
"Ok, Mom."
"Sweetheart, do you need anything else?" Tony asked.
"Yes Tony, can you come sit with me while Samantha visits with Bonnie and Marcie?"
"Of course, mi amore."
"Honey, between you, Mother, and Mrs. Rossini, you've really outdone yourselves. Everything looks great, and all of these amazing women are here to celebrate our son, daughter, and granddaughter. And having Marcie come out for Samantha, she's absolutely thrilled! I know that Mother said that there will be a few surprises today. Anyone else coming I should be aware of? I saw Aunt Rosa, Ana, and Laura made it, as well as the gals from Iowa. I also spoke with Emily, and she said that Eddie would be calling you later or tomorrow while they're both in town."
"Well, there is one more surprise guest coming today, but she's running a little late as her flight was delayed."
"Who is it?"
"I'll let Mona tell you. Oh hey. Mone."
"Tony, Carmella needs your help in the kitchen." Mona said.
"Ok. Do you want to prepare Angela for her last surprise?"
"Sure. Angela, the last time this person was here, things didn't go very well. But I reached out to her a while back, letting her know that I wanted to make ammends. And she said that she does too. Ever since we had the accident, I've realized how special and important family is. And I don't want to harbor any regrets."
"Mother, are you talking about..."
"Hello, Angela. Hello, Mona."
"Nana, are you really here?"
"Hello, Mother. How was your flight?"
"It was great. Thank you for asking. And yes, Angela, I am here. Mona reached out and told me all that had transpired since I was last here. I was sorry to hear about your car accident, and your surgery. But when she told me that you and Tony had gotten married and were expecting twins, I realized that his motivation had nothing to do with any inheritance. He really does love you, and Jonathan as well. I knew I had to be here for you, and I too want to make ammends with my daughter."
"Thank you, Mother. You being here for my daughter and her family makes me happy. I love you, Mummy."
"I love you too, Monie."
"Nana, I appreciate you saying that about Tony. He was very nervous last time you were here, and trying to make a good impression on you."
"I understand that now. I've set up an account for each of your babies. When they turn 18, they will each have enough to go to university. I've also set up a slightly smaller one for Jonathan. I just need to know the babies names."
"Oh, Nana, what a sweet gesture! The babies names are Matteo Robert Micelli, who we will call Matty, and Isabella Amelia Micelli, who we will call Bella."
"You're giving your daughter my name as her middle name?"
"Yes, Nana. I suggested the name to Tony, and when I told him the connection to you, he agreed."
"Oh, Angela. Dear sweet Angela, that's absolutely lovely." she said as tears filled her eyes.
"We wanted family connections to both babies. Matteo was Tony's father's name, and Robert was my father's. Isabella was his grandmother's name, and Amelia is yours."
"You sure know how to make an old woman cry. Oh, I hear that you and Tony will be becoming grandparents as well. That would make me a great-great-grandmother then? At least by marriage."
"Excuse me, Mrs. Reynolds. If you would like, you can consider my daughter your greet-great-granddaughter," Samantha said as she returned back to her seat.
"Nana, you remember Samantha, Tony's daughter." Angela said.
"Yes. Congratulations to you as well, my dear. What is your daughter's name going to be?'
"Her name is Marie Katherine Thomopoulos. Marie was my first mom's name, and Katherine is from Angela."
"That's a beautiful name and a lovely tribute to both of them. Your first mom died, correct?"
"Yes, that's part of the reason my Dad and I moved from Brooklyn, so that he could give me a better life. And that he has and then some."
"Well, Samantha, I would like to set up an account for your daughter as well."
"That's very generous of you, Mrs. Reynolds, but an account for what?"
"An account that will help pay for university for her."
"You mean like an inheritance? But I'm not even an heir to you. Like Jonathan or Matty or Bella are."
"No, but your daughter will be my daughter's great-granddaughter, and my grandaughter's granddaughter, and my great-grandson's niece. I harbored resentment to you and your father last visit, and I shouldn't have done that. My granddaughter Christy and her husband have no children, and Archibald and Cornelius have no direct heirs, so I want to ensure my money is put to good use by Mona and her descendants. I do have some nieces and nephews, but I want blessings bestowed on my children and their families."
"Then I graciously accept. Thank you, Mrs. Reynolds."
"Please, call me Nana."
"Thank you, Nana."
"Yes, thank you Nana." Angela gushed. "I know now that my family is once again whole. Are you visiting with Uncle Archie or Uncle Cornelius while you are here?"
"Yes, I am. And I just want to again say that Tony did make an impression on me. And he really is a wonderful man."
"He is, he really is. So much more than Michael ever was. Don't get me wrong, Michael did love me, but he loved his work so much more. But Tony had a dream job, and gave it up for me and these babies I'm carrying. For our whole family really. He'll be starting a new job this fall at his alma mater, Ridgemont College here in Fairfield. He could've gotten a job anywhere in New England, several colleges and universities have been calling him, but he chose Ridgemont to be close to home. And for that I love him all the more."
"Angela, I have to apologize again for not thinking he'd be good enough for you. I love you, my dear sweet Angela."
"I love you too, Nana!" Angela said as she embraced her grandmother.
