After another check, Dr. Shaw said "Okay, Ready to have those babies?"
"I'm ready!" Tony exclaimed. "How about you, mi amore?"
"Are you sure, Doctor?" Angela asked.
"Yes, you are fully dilated. Okay, everyone else but Dad and Grandma, out to the waiting room!"
"Good luck, Mom and Dad!" Jonathan, Sam, and Hank exclaimed together.
Two hours later, Mona came out with the news that Matty and Bella were finally here.
"How's Mom?" Sam asked.
"She's doing okay for now, but she had more bleeding than the doctor would've liked, possibly still stemming from the placental abruption from after the accident. So they are keeping a watch on her."
"When can we see her?" asked Jonathan.
"Maybe a bit later. The doctor just wants her to rest right now. But do you want to see your new brother and sister? They were taken to the nursery."
"YES!" Jonathan and Samantha exclaimed simultaneously.
"Ok gang, let's go see my newest grandchildren!"
"Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?" Tony asked later than afternoon.
Angela groggily looked up her husband. "I'm so sore, Tony. How are our babies?"
"They're doing great! They're in the nursery for now, as Dr. Shaw wants you to rest. You gave us all a scare there when they couldn't control the bleeding. They think it may have still stemmed from the issues you'd had after the accident."
"The last thing that I remember is hearing the doctor say that we have two healthy babies."
"Yeah, they think that you may have passed out from the bleeding and stress on your body from giving birth."
"Are they really healthy, Tony? Or did she just say that?"
"Nope, they are definitely healthy! Matteo Robert Micelli came first at 12;47pm, and is 6 pounds 11 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. Isabella Amelia Micelli came at 12;53pm, and is 5 pounds 15 ounces and 19 inches long, Little peanuts, but definitely in a good range for twins at 38 weeks according to Dr. Shaw. Breathing on their own, and no jaundice for either of them."
"Oh good, I was a little worried about that after reading that can happen in later-in-life pregnancies. Have you seen them yet?"
"Yes sweetheart, I have. And they are beautiful, just like their mama."
"Awww, honey, that's great to hear."
"You just rest now, mi amore."
A knock came from the door. "Come in," Tony called out.
"Mom, Dad, can I talk to you?" Jonathan queried.
"Of course, son," Tony replied.
"Well, you're not gonna believe this, but Sam started having contractions a little while ago. At first she was thinking that it was Braden-Hixton ones..."
"You mean Braxton-Hicks?" Angela asked.
"Yeah, that. But the doctor checked and she's actually in labor. Dad, she asked if you can come and I'll stay with Mom. Grandma will be back in a bit too after she is doing making phone calls."
"Oh, Tony, I wish could be there for her," Angela cried. "Please tell her that I'm thinking of her and little Marie."
"Of course sweetheart. Jonathan, what room is Sam in?"
"Just three doors down to the left, Dad."
"I'll be back soon, my love. Jonathan, if anything comes up before Mona is back in just come get me, okay?"
"Yes Dad, I will."
"Just go be with our daughter now. You were a great coach for me, and I know you'll do great for her too!"
Four hours later, at 7:14pm, Marie Katherine Thomopoulous was born. She weighed in at 5 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. "Great job, Mrs. Thomopoulous," Dr. Shaw said. "Looks like your daughter, brother, and sister will be sharing a birthday. Congratulations!"
"Thank you, Dr. Shaw. For everything. How's my mom doing?" Sam asked.
"She's doing much better. She's resting comfortably and even has had a feeding with both babies already."
"I'm going to go check on Angela, and let her know she's officially a grandma now! I'll be back shortly Sammi," Tony said.
"Okay, Dad. And thanks for being her back-up coach. Sam and I both appreciate it," Hank said.
"Anytime son. Anytime."
"We're grandparents, sweetheart!" Tony exclaimed as he entered back into Angela's room.
"She's here? Is she okay? And how is Sam?" Angela asked.
"Yes, she is here. Yes, she is okay. And Sam is tired but doing great. She was more concerned about you."
"Oh, that sweet girl! They brought Matty and Bella in about an hour ago so that I could feed them. Matty latched on really well, but it took Bella a bit longer. The nurse said that sometimes one twin will do better than the other. They have your eyes, Tony. They're absolutely precious!"
"Yeah, Dad," Jonathan said. "I can't believe how tiny they are. How big is my niece?"
"She's long and skinny. She is 5 pounds 7 ounces, and is 20 inches long. She looks just like Sam did when she was born."
"Can I go see her?"
"Actually Hank will bring her down in a bit so that she meet her Grandma. Joe and Fran are on their way - they were on vacation as they figured they had at least a few weeks yet - and Mona is going all 'ga-ga' over her great-granddaughter."
"I'd expect nothing less from my Mother."
"You're right Mom! That's definitely Grandma!"
"Oh Hank, she's beautiful!" Angela gushed holding her granddaughter. "She's got your nosae and chin, and Samantha's eyes and mouth. What a precious girl you are, sweet Marie."
"Thanks, Mom. And Matty and Bella are beautiful too. We are a blessed family!"
'That we are, Hank my boy. Have your parents arrived yet?"
"No Dad, not yet. But they should be here soon."
