Hanging On The Edge Ch 20
A couple of days later Penelope was still staying at Fran's because it was the safest place for her, she continued helping the team with their cases by day and spent the evenings wrapped in the loving arms of her fiancee Derek Michael Morgan. Derek loved spending time with his baby girl and the more the better, one day he was surprised when Penelope asked him to show her how he climbed thse bir rocks like the one he did the night he'd saved her life all those months ago.
He took her by the hand and said, "come with me gorgeous, I'll show ya" as he lead her across the living room and toward the basement door, she said, "the basement, what are you gonna show me in the basement?", he said, "momma put in some climbing equipment down here for me so that I can practice on my time off". When they stepped into the basement she said, "wowwww" as she looked up at the huge mountain in front of her, Derek said, "see, sweetness?", she nodded her head and said, "you wouldn't think that this would be here in the basement, this totally surprises me".
Derek winked at her and said, "other than my ma and sisters, you're the only other person that knows this is down here, my teammates don't even know it's here", she hugged him and said, "I feel special", he brused his lips against hers and when they reluctantly pulled apart he rested his forehead against hers and said, "you should". He then said, "okay, soooo let's give you a little training shall we?", she said, "ohhhhhh but no, I don't want to know how to do that, I want to watch you do it", he intertwined their fingers and said, "don't worry baby girl, I won't let you get hurt, I promise".
When she looked into his eyes all she could see was love, she never had a doubt that he would do anything and everything to keep her safe, she grinned and nodded her head yes as she allowed herself to be pulled twoard the equipment. Derek showed her everything and told her what it was and how it worked as he harnessed her up, when he was done with himself and with her she was highly impressed, it was obvious that he knew what he was saying and doing.
Derek said, "okay, do you see the hand holds that are all over the wall?", she said, "I do", he said, "okay, step up here and put your hands here and here", she did what he told her to do, she then said, "okay, what's next?", he said, "now just slowly and carefully move your hands to another rock, one at a time and make sure you've got a good grip before stepping up", she said, "right, okay" as she raised her hands and did exactly what he told her to do.
Derek stayed right behind her as she climbed the wall to make her feel secure, he wanted her to know that if anything happened and she slipped that he'd be right there to catch her, not that she'd fall because the harness and rope would stop her before she's drop very far. Penelope felt completely safe, she was safe and having an amazing time, when they got to the top of the mountain he said, "okay now look down and see what you've done".
Penelope looked down and said, "wow, did I climb all of that?", Derek said, "you sure did and you did an amazing job if I do say so myself", she leaned in and kissed his lips gently and when she pulled away she said, "thank you for this", he winked at her and said, "no problem sweetness". A few minutes later they both started slowly making their way back down the huge rock mountain that they'd just climbed up a few minutes earlier, when they were done Derek said, "ya did it sweetness, ya did it" as he threw his arms around her and pulled her to him, she said, "I did it, I did it" as she jumped up and down in excitement.
Derek said, "so what do ya think of my job?", she said, "I think it's an amazing job and you are sooooooo sooooooo good at it, thank you again for showing me a few things", he said, "not a problem sweetness, how about we do it again sometime?", she nodded her head and said, "I'd like that, I'd really like that". Derek helped Penelope unharness and then the couple made their way back upstairs to rejoin his mom and sisters for an amazing dinner before he revealed another member of his family to her,, it was time for her to finally meet Clooney.
After dinner Derek said, "well baby girl are you ready to meet another member of our family?", she said, "another member, sure", Derek excused himself and came back in a few minutes later with a beautiful black dog on a leash, when they stepped through the door she said, "ohhhh he's gorgeous". Derek said, "baby girl this is Clooney", he then looked down at his dog and said, "and Clooney, this is my soon to be wife, your momma, this is Penelope", she dropped down to her knees and said, "let him go I'm ready", Derke then unhooked the leash and stood smiling as Clooney started making his way closer and closer to Penelope
He stopped and started wiggling his tail when she started petting the top of his head, she said, "aren't you're an adorable little puppy, yes you are", Clooney barked and barked letting her know that he liked her too, after a few minutes Penelope sat down on the couch and Clooney jumped up beside her and laid his head down in her lap. Derek sat down beside the, and said, "it looks like he likes you baby girl", she looked down at the now sleeping dog and said, "the feeling is mutual".
Derek, Penelope, Fran and the girls sat talking for a little while before Derek said his good nights and made his way home, he wouldn't have gone home as early as he did but he had an early shift the next morning and after working out with Penelope in the basement he was exhausted and needed some sleep. As she stood watching him disappear out of sight she sighed happily and Sarah said, "ohhhh yeah, you're a goner", Desi said, "yep, a complete goner", a few seconds later the large room was filled with the sound of the four womens laughter
