The path not taken

MAGES corner

There was a spread of confusion as during the lunch the screen activated. Every one turned to look at it besides one blond haired ferret. The word 'Standby' was flashing steadily.

Suddenly the words MAGES corner flashed getting a groan from the CPU as they all knew mages, an excentric but immensely powerful magic user She was even known to occasionally stumble through different dimensions in her studies.

"What is this?" blurted out fudge. "It would appear to be one of our prodigies of magic" Said Histoire. This caught them off guard. The broadcast started with a over flight of planeptune getting hums of appreciation. It was true that it was an amazingly beautiful city. Hyper advanced and astheticaly beautiful. The view soon zoomed in to a small wooden home in the middle of the city.

There a young woman was sitting upon a stool in front of a board. Upon the board was the words Gameindustry 101.

"Greetings" said the young woman in a bland voice "I am called mages and have been asked to give a brief overview of topics that will become relevant and how they interact between our two dimensions" Turning to the board she started to write down a list of topics. " the first topic as you can see is the CPU or goddesses." she said.

The people not from Gameindustry leaned forward at this as it would answer some of their questions.

"To first answer this we begin in tari, a predecessor state to the current countries. It was hear that the first CPU was formed in the form of a normal if slightly fragile young woman." At this a image of rei ryghts appeared on the screen. Her staff was in hand and her CPU form was active. "This started with her absorption of what would now be called Sharicite. A magical focusing substance that allows for the acquisition and gathering of magic." Here she lifted up what appeared to be a diamond shaped in a strange shape.

"Interesting" said dumbledore. And he truly was interested in what was being said. A small crystal like such being so powerful the only time he had seen such was the philosophers stone. Maybe there was a link between the two?

"Over time more of these nexus formed however at the time the most important to form were the Tomes. Each tome was a record of the history of the world, The first tome that formed was called criore the next and her sister was Histoire" said MAGES using her magic to display the two on the screen.

Everyone in the room was now looking at the little fairy woman with an intensity that made her feel uncomfortable. It was true that she was one of the oldest beings upon their planet and yes she had such an important role but she was not used to the attention for her part. She had become known of her own merits as the oracle of planeptune. She was appreciated for that even if it made her want to pull her hair out at times.

"due to our planet having such strong magics these nexi ended up becoming the capitals of the next round of nations . It also allowed to empower the people, due to the hostile wildernesses and monsters this adaptation came in the form of the Level system." the girl explained as if this was normal.

"What? Levels? Aren't those things from the mundane games?" asked one of the half bloods in confusion. When they got a nod in return it just caused more confusion.

"To simplify things levels are the Visualization of a persons strength and attributes." said the woman pulling up a status display for those that she knew were watching could see. " each person has their own proficiencies and abilities, each of which grows as a person gains knowledge and experience." she explained as a small animation appeared showing a person reading or fighting and once they were done they gained a small number.

The mundane chuckled as they had a good handle upon how things in their world worked now. If any one had played an RPG they would have a general idea. Too bad that the concept of mundane games was so foreign to most of those that were raised within the magical communities that they had no idea how to react to such a thing. Flitwick however was bouncing in his seat having already coming up with ideas to create such a thing for his brethren as to goblins strength was every thing.

"Using my own board you can see that there are numbers on each of the status, these however are generally boiled down to a lettered rank. These go from F – A with a rare exception being S. I myself have an S in my magical abilities." explained the woman to her audience.

"Excuse me?" asked lily to the CPU, " could you explain each category?" This got a smile from the tome. "Why yes, naturally you have strength, agility and speed and dexterity. Each are abbreviated however they are essentially the summary of a persons Physical attributes" this got a nod of understanding from the listening crowd. "Then we have intelligence, mentality, luck and skills. These determine a persons magic power and defence. Their luck and accuracy with abilities. The final one is elemental resistances" explained the little book. The explanation shocked those within the hall. To have such a breakdown would be of immense value as it would allow them to see where they needed work.

" the next most important part is the levels, an average citizen can grow to level 99 though the only ones who tend to grow any where near this level are generally guild members." this time there was a triangle chart. The number 0 was at the bottom leading up to the largest section which had a 99 at the side of the triangle with the words 'General population' written in it.

Those in the room were amazed at this feat of magic, They could not help but wonder what it would be like if they had evolved/developed this system. There were others, for different reasons, who wondered what their own level was. It was a tempting thought as it would allow them bragging rights over others. The ability to gain influence was always a priority with a small fraction of the wizarding community.

"The next section is what is known as Companions, these are people who have gained the blessing from a CPU for their aid to the world or nation. These are generally heroes who aid the CPU in times of crisis. At the current time there are approximately twenty such people within the nations. These peoples 'limit' due to their blessing was raised to 199 the blessing also grants extended life as they are closer to the magic's of our world than normal.

This caused an excited muttering about what the people had done to gain such a thing, who they might be and if they would see any of them within the tome they were reading.

"the next section there are only 4 people who fit, one of whom is an exception and can raise further than the others, these are the oracles, the personal aids of the CPU they have a similar effect as the companions however it is even stronger due to their near constant proximity to their CPU. It is an oracles job to ensure that the people are in contact and heard by their CPU and act as a link to keep them grounded. Their cap is 399. The only exception is Histoire who despite having the title and job of an oracle is actually closer to the CPU in existence." said mages this time four images flashed into existence showing the oracles, their name and country.

There were a few who looked at the images with their jaws on the floor as to how pretty they were. It was however becoming a running theme with those from that world as they were all peak beauties.

"The final section is the Candidates, the little sisters of the goddesses. Being goddesses themselves there is not much difference between the two. The difference that matters is that the candidates are the essential heir and their strength is, despite having the potential to be vastly stronger than the average is restricted due to their young age. Relatively speaking of course." This got a smirk from the girl.

Here the CPU whilst having a pleasant smile upon their faces if one looked they could see the tick mark at being called old. If there was one universal constant it was that no woman liked to be called old.

"The level cap for a candidate is 699 whilst a full fledged 999. this however is not a constant as if one does not keep their skills in practice They will atrophy causing for a persons attributes and level to decrease over time." said the woman as images appeared upon the board behind her displaying the CPU's and their sisters.

Ronald could not hold it any more, being raised within a male centric environment of the magical world he could not understand why the leaders were all girls? Sure his mother ruled the house with a iron fist, that however was the house it would be devastating to the families reputation if she acted like she did within the house out in public. His mother had been known to toe the line occasionally and it was one of the reasons that people looked down on their family.

"Why are they all girls?" he asked/demanded whilst pointing at the screen which had paused. This got murmurs of agreement and discontent. The girls in the room were angry at the boy as he made it sound as if they were not capable of doing the job. Those from game industry could not understand as it was natural to them. Things had been this way for centuries. So they had no idea what the issue was.

It was with a sigh that Chloe responded "unlike within your world, ours is a matriarchy." she waited a second for the girl next to the red head to whisper what matriarchy means to him. " This is a side effect of our leaders being the goddesses. It also leads our laws and societies being different from yours. There is equality of the genders in ours and any one could gain a position of power through merit. However there has always been a goddess."

This gained a nod from most, but there was a disgruntled look upon the faces of a few of the more traditional of their number as the thought of such a societal bend was foreign to the point of alienism.
