"This is bad." Kuri said softly. "It's a corpse crow. It's hunting me. -holds up her glowing hand- we need to search the village. There's a dead man here."

"What? But how…." Tanjiro said. "We will have to be careful…"

"It won't be hard. It's gonna be looking for me." She squeezed his hand. "Don't be scaaared; im counting on you, demon slayer. I've never been in a fight. Never in my life. I think my wings might fire feathers tho."

"I'm not scared I'm worried for you." Tanjiro grabbed his sword.

Kuri hesitated. She was pretty sure she wounded his pride. "Wait Tanji I—" She stopped as a group of brigands shoves their way in.

Tanjiro eyed them warily.

The bandits surrounded her. "Look at her weird clothes…the demon slayers didn't buy you a new kimono?" One lifted her skirt.

Kuri kicked and got her leg grabbed. "Good thing I wore shorts!"

Tanjiro attacked the bandit. "Get your hands off of her. You're not allowed to lay a finger on her."

Kuri had dirt on her legs, feathers shot out reflexively. "Hey! I think I got the corpsey one!" She tried to get up but stumbled.

The zombie began to panick starting to swing his sword around madly.

Tanjiro blocked the sword and shoved it out of it's hand. "You okay?!"

Kuri got up and Tanjiro turned his attention to the bandits. Suddenly his chains ripped apart the corpse and other slayers drove off the brigands.

"Whoa. Efficient… " Kuri stumbled again, all dirty from the brigands hands, ankle slightly bruised.

Tanjiro picked her up. "You twisted it didn't you?"

"Nah it's just bruised. He wanted to see up my skirt." Kuri giggled. "You don't haveta carry me; I can fly remember' She wrapped her arms around him and flew him up.

Tanjiro pulled her back down, serious. "No. Let me carry you. I don't like that he tried to do that."

Kuri blinked. "Ok. Can you clean my legs then? I don't like it either…but I think if you touched me, it would make me forget what he did." She looked up at him. "It would make you feel better ne?"

"Yes…." Tanjiro sat her down and cleaned her leg, lightly touching her leg.

Kuri looked down at him seeing his hands shake. "Tanjiro…I'm alright"

"You got hurt." Tanjiro whispered.

"Just bruised. I'll get worse when I go out slaying with you!"

Tanjiro huffed. "Then I'll have to keep supplies on hand."

"I'm sorry. If I was stronger and faster…"

"Lemme train you."

Kuri brightened. "Yes! Oh yes!" She leapt to her feet, wobbled and bounced.

"Stay off that leg! For a bit!"

Kuri was sheepish and hovered instead. "We can still train, I don't need my legs."

Tanjiro gave her a look.

Kuri flew down and looked into his eyes. "Cmon Tanji.. Pleeeeeease? I'll be good? Pleeeeease? I'll do anything just teach me!"

"Not today." Tanjiro said firmly. "You'll rest today."

"But that's boring! And lonely! I can't; what if you get hurt on a mission?!"

"I'm not going anywhere. And I'll keep you company."

"Reaaaaally?!" She flew into his arms. "YAY!"

"Woah!" Tanjiro caught her.

"You watch it's gonna be SO fun!"

Tanjiro chuckled

"Can I draw you?"

"You…want to?" Tanjiro said shyly.

"Well yeah! I especially think your gorgeous doing your sword forms. That's why I wanna learn!"

"I'll teach you tomorrow!"

Kuri beamed. "So can I draw you?!"

"Yes you can!"

"Okay!" Kuri began drawing.
