My Hero Academia: Rise Of The Kaiju
Episode 7: Uraraka and the Beast
By Remy Corona
A few hours into the night, Uraraka still remains wide awake. She continues to think about Izuku's speech as some of the monsters could be allies and not enemies. She knows that this could hold some truth as the monster they encountered hours before acted very curious like that of a normal animal. Uraraka then thinks up an idea that she knows is absolutely insane and dangerous. But she knows that if Izuku is right, then possibly her and the rest of the class won't have to deal with other kaiju on their own. Uraraka then slowly gets up from her sleeping bag as she checks to see if any of the teachers are looking in her direction. She then notices Mr. Aizawa scanning the area. She quickly lays back down and pretends to still be asleep. With one eye open, she watches Mr. Aizawa look around and tries to find the perfect moment to leave. For what seems like an eternity, Mr. Aizawa finally stares off into the opposite direction of where Uraraka is laying. She then takes this opportunity to quickly get up and run off from the rest of the group. Uraraka looks back one last time and continues forward. As she gets farther away from the group, she tries to remember the direction that the monster walked off to. However as she tries to remember, she soon realizes that that memory won't really offer any help. Uraraka starts to walk a few feet until she spots a massive footprint. She gets closer to the print and finds out there are more as seem to lead off in a certain direction. Uraraka grows more stern and follows the footprints.
After a few minutes, Uraraka arrives at the last footprint and finds herself in front of a gigantic cave. Uraraka carefully walks into the cave as quietly as she possibly could. The cave was dark and quiet, but there was no sight of any giant monster. Uraraka goes further into the cave until she bumps into something. She reaches her hand out and feels a rough, kind of scaley object. Uraraka then feels a huge gust of wind hit her right in face as her hair violently blows back. She then starts to become frightened as two orange eyes open up. At first the eyes slowly open up but as soon as they spot her, they are fully open. Uraraka gulps as the creature starts moving forward and gets out of the cave. Uraraka falls on her back as she watches the creature emerge from the cave's darkness and stand right above her.
Baragon then shakes his head and lets out a yawn of some kind. He looks down and sees another of the humans looking at him with only the emotion of fear displayed on its face. He then bends down and makes direct eye contact with the human. Baragon then realizes that this human is one of the younger ones and a female as well. He releases a low bellow and starts walking closer to the human. As he does, the young human starts moving back while still laying on her back. Baragon registers the human's emotion as she's absolutely terrified of him. He backs off from the human so as to not give her a heart attack.
Uraraka sees Baragon move back and sit down like a dog. She stands up and the two stare quietly at each other. Both fascinated by one another. Uraraka tilts her head as does Baragon. She tilts her head the other way which Baragon does the same, almost mimicking her. She then sees Baragon go back on all fours and walk forward. She backs away a few feet away but Baragon continues to get closer to her. Baragon's face is then right in front of her as his face covers up her entire vision. Uraraka then slowly lifts up her arm and reluctantly places her hand on the tip of his nose.
Baragon is surprised by this action and his eyes grow wide as no human has ever come this close to him. While most would run away in fear, this one human is brave enough to actually place her hand right on his nose. Baragon bellows softly as he becomes very calm and relaxed.
Uraraka opens her eyes and looks right into Baragon's eyes. As she looks at him, she notices that this creature isn't an aggressive predator but a creature that possesses emotion. She doesn't even think that she could call this thing a monster at all. She thinks of it more as a benevolent being. One that is willing to let her make contact with a calm attitude.
Just then Baragon's ears go up as he hears a faint sound. He then rises up on his hind legs and looks around for the source of the sound. Although he doesn't spot anything, he returns to his cave and goes back to sleep. Uraraka watches him as she thinks that maybe she should also start heading back to camp. She takes one last look at Baragon before she heads back to camp.
Morning arrives and the teachers awake the students. With the Thunderbird fully charged, they now are able to finally leave the island.
All Might: All right students! Climb aboard!
Kirishima: Does he always have to be this excited about everything?
Kaminari: I mean yes. For crying out loud he smiles during the most dangerous of times.
Aizawa: Kaminari! Mineta!
Kaminari becomes very still as he starts to sweat. Mineta walks up right next to him.
Mineta: Oh crap Kaminari...we're screwed.
Kaminari: Just act natural. Maybe his punishment won't be that bad.
The two are then wrapped around by Aizawa's ropes. Their teacher walks right up to them.
Aizawa: I heard you two wandered off from the others when I specifically said to stay in the proximity of the Thunderbird.
Kaminari and Mineta both chuckle nervously.
Aizawa: I wouldn't be laughing if I were you two.
The two of them then grow silent as Aizawa walks them both into the Thunderbird.
Aizawa: When this trip is over, detention for two weeks.
Mineta and Kaminari: What?!?!?!
The rest of the class makes it onboard while Izuku and Uraraka fall behind. While boarding the jet, Izuku notices Uraraka is acting a little strange.
Izuku: Hey Uraraka are you ok?
Uraraka: Yeah I'm fine Deku. Don't worry.
Izuku: You sure? You look like you just saw a ghost.
Uraraka: No, I'm fine. I'm just tired that's all. I didn't sleep at all last night.
Izuku: Well maybe you can get some sleep after we all get on the Thunderbird.
Uraraka: Oh I don't know about that. Our class talks way too loud.
Izuku: Did you bring any ear plugs?
Uraraka: I wish I did.
Izuku chuckles and walks inside the Thunderbird. Uraraka follows closely behind him but she stops. She turns around and sees the monster watching them leave. Uraraka can tell by the look on its face, it almost seems sad. She frowns and almost feels sorry for it. Gran Torino then appears.
Gran Torino: Hey come on kid, we don't got all day.
Uraraka: Right...sorry.
She boards the jet while Baragon continues to watch them leave. Once Uraraka sits down and all the other students get themselves seated, the Thunderbird's engine comes to life. The large aircraft then begins to levitate off the ground and blast off into the sky. Baragon sees the jet fly off as he watches it until the Thunderbird disappears into the clouds. He bellows and remembers the human he made contact with last night. He noticed something special about her as she had the most courage he'd seen in any human. Not only that, but she was the most kindhearted person he'd ever met. She didn't try to attack him or make contact with him just so she could tell her fellow humans that he was scared and weak. Fueled by curiosity, or just foolishness, Baragon began digging into the ground and burrowed away from the island in the same direction as the Thunderbird. After he leaves, the ground shakes on the island and a giant crater is formed. A massive hand with crystal-like talons comes out of the crater. Krystalak comes out of the ground and lets out an angered roar. He then squints in pain as his left eye is still bleeding from his last battle. He clenches his fist and punches the ground in absolute rage. Krystalak growls with annoyance as he reflects on how such feeble life forms could've caused him so much pain. Krystalak then sniffs the air as he picks up a familiar scent. Not human but another kaiju. He continues to sniff the air until he bends down and smells the ground. There he gets a better whiff of the kaiju's scent and realizes who it came from; Baragon. Krystalak smiles and aggressively digs into the land and follows Baragon's scent.
The Thunderbird soars through the clouds at a quick pace. It's thrusters become more and more powerful as it's speed increases. All the students are deep in conversations with each other while Aizawa and All Might continue to pilot the aircraft. The radar suddenly starts beeping. Everyone stops talking and the 3 pro heroes check the radar.
Aizawa: What is it?
All Might: Strange, we have an incoming target.
Aizawa: Ok but it's just below us right?
All Might: No, it's not below us. It's...airborne.
The two pro heroes see that the object on the radar is approaching the Thunderbird extremely fast. Suddenly, in a matter of seconds, Izuku sees a red streak coming right at them.
Izuku: All Might! Mr. Aizawa! Move!
The pro heroes look out the front window and see what Izuku is talking about and quickly tilt the Thunderbird to the right. Thankfully they turn just in time to avoid contact with the flying object. The Thunderbird turns around as the heroes get a good look at the source of the red streak. What they see terrifies them. A couple meters away, a giant pterosaur-like beast, with lava dripping from its wings, turns itself around and flies right at the Thunderbird. The pro heroes quickly make the jet dive as the flying creature passes right over them. All Might sees this and stops the Thunderbird.
Aizawa: All Might, what are you doing?!
All Might: It's not after us! It seems worried about something else!
A loud crash is heard on the left side of the Thunderbird as it's grabbed by something. Aizawa tries to steer the Thunderbird forward but it remains in the same place.
Bakugo: What's going on?! Get us the hell out of here!
Izuku: I don't think we can! We're stuck!
The Thunderbird starts to turn as whatever has them, moves the aircraft. The front of the Thunderbird is then covered by a huge red, insect-like eye. The Thunderbird moves back as the entire face of a new creature appears in front of the Thunderbird. Unlike every other kaiju they've met, this one resembles that of an insect. It's eyes are pure red, it's face is covered in small spikes and it's mouth is shaped in a way that makes it seem like it's smiling.
While holding the Thunderbird, the creature lets out a high pitch screech that almost shatters the glass of the Thunderbird. Quickly, All Might presses one of the controls that causes the jet to fire missiles right at the creature. As soon as one of the missiles makes direct contact with one of its eyes, it releases the Thunderbird. The two pro heroes immediately grab the control wheels and steer the Thunderbird away from the massive insect. But just as it seems they're about to escape, the pterosaur-like creature returns and is flying right at them. The insect kaiju spots this and the two fly right at each other, preparing themselves for a head on collision. As the two creatures fly towards each other, they're oblivious to the Thunderbird being right in the center of their paths.
