Episode 8: Earth Defenders

Gran Torino: They're coming right at us!

All Might: Everyone hold on!

All Might quickly pushes the control wheel down which causes the Thunderbird to dive bomb and move out of the way as the two flying kaiju collide with one another. The fire demon, Rodan, engages in combat with the prehistoric insect, Megaguirus. Rodan repeatedly pecks at her face while she bites down on one of his legs. Rodan cries out in pain. Megaguirus then spins around in a circle and tosses Rodan into the clouds. He regains his balance and slams his wings together that send him flying right towards Megaguirus at top speed. She doesn't get out of the way fast enough which causes Rodan to slam right into her. Both of them start falling through the air.

The Thunderbird continues to go straight down. Aizawa grabs the other control wheel and straightens out the Thunderbird. The students begin to panic.

Kirishima: Are you kidding me?! These things can fly now?!

Sero: Apparently they can!

Jiro: Will you two stop yelling?!

Yaoyorozu: Look out!

Rodan and Megaguirus both come crashing down in front of the Thunderbird. Rodan pushes himself off Megaguirus and the giant insect flies right at him. She stabs Rodan right in the stomach with her stinger and starts hitting him in the face with her pinchers. Rodan bites down on one of them but Megaguirus barely feels anything. She returns the attack by biting down on his shoulder. The two then become stuck together as they go through many clouds and either start falling or floating in the atmosphere. Megaguirus then begins to suck some of Rodan's energy from her stinger. Rodan sees this and uses all his strength to kick Megaguirus off of him. While he is able to accomplish this, Megaguirus still manages to take away enough energy and fires off an energy beam from her stinger. Rodan tries to move out of the way but he still feels the pain from her stinger being stabbed into him that he gets hit by the attack. Rodan then falls through the sky, unconscious and wounded. Megaguirus smiles sadistically as she sees Rodan fall. She then remembers the human aircraft she got a hold of before her and Rodan fought. Megaguirus folds her wings and searches for the Thunderbird.

The Thunderbird continues to rise up higher and higher into the sky. All the students are looking behind and out the windows as they search for the two flying kaiju. Not one of them seems to spot either of the beasts.

Bakugo: Where the hell did these things go?

Iida: Did we lose them?

Aizawa looks down at the radar and sees another object coming up from behind.

Aizawa: It's right behind us.

Megaguirus quickly makes her way through the clouds and catches up to the Thunderbird. The aircraft increases speed but so does Megaguirus. The two race through the clouds as the giant insect continues to catch up the heroes either every move they make.

Kirishima: This thing's too fast for us! We're not gonna make it!

Bakugo: Are you trying to jinx us?!

Megaguirus snaps her pinchers at one of the Thunderbird's wings and barely misses.

Aizawa: It's trying to clip one of the wings!

All Might: You keep flying! I'll operate the weapons!

All Might turns on a few switches and presses a button that causes the Thunderbird to fire four heat seeking missiles. Megaguirus is hit by them but they barely faze her as she continues to chase the Thunderbird. She times herself just right and pinches off one of the wings. The Thunderbird rattles and shakes violently as it begins to fall through the clouds. All Might and Aizawa use all their strength to try and steer the Thunderbird upwards but without one of its wings, it continues to fall straight down.

Aizawa: Why did I let you talk me into this?!

All Might: You're right! How did you?!

The Thunderbird gets closer and closer to the ocean as it speeds up. Megaguirus cackles as she prepares for the aircraft to crash and burn. All the students hold on to their seats for dear life.

Mineta: This is it! This is the end!

Suddenly the Thunderbird comes to a complete stop. All the students and heroes inside become silent as they question what stopped the aircraft. They then feel the Thunderbird be placed down on what seems like land. As they are put down, they see a giant foot right in front of them. All the heroes become quizzical as the foot they see in front them looks more mammalian. In fact, it kind of resembles that of an ape's foot. They all look up and see a giant primate, with scars on his chest and a type of beard. Although it looks like a large gorilla, it stands up right like a human. The giant ape brings the Thunderbird down on solid ground carefully. The students and the pro heroes sigh in relief.

Gran Torino: Is everybody ok?

All Might: Yeah we're ok.

Kirishima: Man that was one heck of a rollercoaster ride.

Mineta: Are you crazy?! We almost got killed by two giant monsters!

Kirishima: Yeah but we got saved by one!

Mr. Aizawa: Enough arguing. We have to find out where we are and how the Thunderbird is doing.

The Thunderbird begins to shake as the massive ape, Kong, walks over the Thunderbird. Megaguirus approaches the down aircraft but Kong appears and stands in between the Thunderbird and Megaguirus; protecting the inhabitants inside. Megaguirus lets out a high pitched screech but Kong just glares at her. He then pounds his chest and roars at Megaguirus, threatening the giant insect. She smiles and accepts his challenge. She flies straight at him but Kong moves out of the way and grabs her by the stinger. He then slams her onto the ground and lifts his foot up to step on her. Megaguirus sees and quickly flies back up, evading Kong smashing her head. She then rams into Kong and starts pushing him towards the Thunderbird. Kong tries his best to hold her back but inch by inch, he keeps getting closer to the aircraft. Kong takes a look at the jet and sees the heroes running out of the aircraft. He knows that if he fails, those humans could die. Megaguirus could slaughter them all and just because he failed to stop her. As soon as Kong realizes this, he grows enraged and starts pushing Megaguirus back. She continues to flap her wings extremely fast but Kong's strength overpowers her. As Kong pushes her back, he sees a familiar face flying towards them. Rodan has his sights on Megaguirus. Kong smirks and grabs Megaguirus. With all of his strength, Kong throws her towards Rodan. The fire demon then slams his wings together and sends Megaguirus flying back towards Kong. As she is sent back, Kong clenches his fist and uppercuts her. Megaguirus is sent flying up into the air and comes crashing back down into the ocean. A massive wave is formed that crashes against the shores of the island. Kong snorts and waits for her to get back up. Luckily she doesn't and Kong roars in victory. Rodan lands right next to him and nods, thanking the giant ape for his help. Kong nods his head back at the flaming pterosaur. The two earth defenders then turn around as they face the heroes. The heroes see the two monsters coming towards them and they get nervous.

Mineta: Great, they only saved us so they could eat us.

Ashido: I don't wanna become monster chow!

Sato: Now what?!

Kong and Rodan both step closer to the heroes.

Aizawa and All Might, along with Gran Torino, stand between the students and the kaiju.

Aizawa: Whatever happens, we can't let them get to the students.

All Might: Right

Kong stares at the humans as he huffs and puffs air through his nostrils. The heroes are waiting for the inevitable, they stand still and charge up some of their quirks. They prepare for Kong to attack but what he does next only surprises them. Instead of attacking, Kong crouches down and looks closer at the heroes. He examines them for a few short seconds before falling behind and sitting down. Rodan calms himself and hits on the side of one of the mountains. The heroes are still cautious but also confused. Kong then proceeds to communicate with Rodan as he asks his ally if he's spotted any other earth defenders. Rodan gives a simple head shake. Kong grows frustrated and stands back up. The heroes still watch the two giants.

Iida: What do you think they're doing?

Izuku: Beats me. But they don't look like they're gonna hurt us.

Bakugo: Yeah right! They're making us feel at ease so they can attack!

Bakugo begins to ignite his gauntlets. Aizawa then uses his quirk to shut off Bakugo's flames.

Bakugo: What the?! Why did you stop me?!

Aizawa: Unless you want all us to be attacked by these creatures, I suggest you calm yourself.

Kirishima: He's got a point, Bakugo. I mean that giant monkey did catch us.

Asui: Yeah, he doesn't seem like a threat.

Tokoyami: Attacking him would be unwise.

Bakugo calms himself and lowers his gauntlets.

Uraraka: So now what do we do?

Todoroki: Maybe fixing the Thunderbird would be a good start.

They all look at the damaged aircraft. The left wing is completely destroyed. All Might jumps forward.

All Might: Well what are we waiting for?! Let's get building!!'

Jiro: This is gonna be fun.

Sero: I'd rather be building that wing than just sitting here and staring at those things.

Rodan bites at a wound on his wing while Kong sits at the bay, looking to see if he can find any other members.

The heroes then go back inside the Thunderbird and grab as many tools as possible.

Ojiro: Yaoyorozu, can't you make tools?

Yaoyorozu: Of course, hold a second.

Yaoyorozu then produces a few extra tools for the students to use.

Asui: Thanks Yaoyorozu.

Yaoyorozu: Anything I can do to help.

As the other students start to help with the wing, Izuku watches the two kaiju. He questions what they are doing and what they are possibly saying to each other.

Izuku: Do these new monsters share a connection with the one that saved Musutafu and the other one that we met on the island? Are they really planning something or are they just as friendly as the other monster back at Musutafu? Whatever the case, we need to find out what's going on here and if they are our allies or enemies.

Just as Izuku is deep in thought, Iida calls to him and the young hero goes to help the others with the Thunderbird. As he walks away, Kong and Rodan watch the heroes. Rodan grows skeptical of these humans but Kong reassures him that they pose no threat. Rodan takes Kong's word for it and decides to leave the island and go look for the other earth defenders. Before he ends up going too far, he turns around and calls Kong. The giant ape looks back at the heroes as he realizes that if Megaguirus or any other mutant arrives, they won't have protection. Kong looks back at Rodan and urges him to go without him. Rodan questions his decision but goes along with it and flies off. Kong sits back down and hopes that his allies are close or at least safe. He even hopes Godzilla is ok and not in any type of trouble. Rodan shares the same thoughts as Kong while flying away from the island. He then slams his wings together and is sent rocketing through the air as he gains more distance. The sun begins to set as the heroes begin to repair the Thunderbird while Kong shuts his eyes and rests.
