I own nothing.
Was in a rush this week and will make it up to you all next week.
THANK YOU!
When I went downstairs Thursday to get a bowl of cereal it was early and Dad hadn't left yet He was frying himself eggs.
"Morning," I said.
"Morning. Ready for school?"
"Yes.
"So Saturday..." Dad started and I looked at him."You're not going to the dance?"
"No, Dad. I told you I wasn't."
"You could have changed your mind maybe someone asked you."
"It's girl's choice but I was asked I said No."
"Oh? Didn't like any of them?" Dad asked.
I sighed.
"Mike is nice, but I don't like him like that and he's seeing Jessica and Tyler." I shook my head."He's pushy."
"Pushy? What do you mean, pushy?" Dad looked upset.
"Oh, I mean, he doesn't ask, he tells you, you're going out with him, that's all. I made it clear that I was not interested."
"You don't need them anyway." Charlie stated
I nodded.
"So, You're not interested in anyone." He asked
I looked at my bowl and blushed.
"Oh." He chuckled
"He's my friend, and I'm..."
"Your?" Dad prompted.
I sighed. "I'm not what you would call pretty. I'm thin, and I'm a klutz I make my fool of myself every day."
"Bella, you are beautiful, sweet, smart, so you are a bit accident brown..." I raised an eyebrow at him. "Sweetheart, any guy that can't see you for you isn't worth your time."
"So this guy?"
"Dad. Are we going to talk boys?"
"Well." He hesitated. "You can talk to me about anything."
I sighed
"Edward Cullen."
"Cullen, isn't that who you'll be with on Saturday?"
"With Alice his sister."
Dad nodded and that was the end of the conversation.
He had to go to work.
I finished eating put away my bowl and grabbed my bag.
Edward standing by the passenger door.
"Gentlemen again today."
"You like it." He gave me that crooked smile I love so much. " It's Nice, I don't mind opening the door though. I get you can't be there all the time." I laughed.
He smiled.
I got into the warm car.
Edward slipped into the driver's seat.
"So something you said yesterday bothered me."
"Oh," I frowned. What did I say?
"When you said you feel more for me because you know me, Your right You know but I truly know everything about you."
"That comes with time. I just have an advantage."
"Ye,s I talked to Jasper about it." He said as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Yes, he would know how that feels." I smile
"Today, I want to get to know you." He stated.
"Okay," I said softly.
With that, the day of questions started.
I laughed at some of the questions that he had asked before cause I knew his reactions or his take on things.
I was sad when he mentioned music asking about the last thing I listened to.
I didn't know Phil. I hadn't met him, so I didn't get that CD. I did enjoy that band.
He realized I was upset, and when He started to apologize, I brushed it off. I did tell him that CD thought it wasn't true.
He showed me he had that CD. I looked at the cover art with a longing.
I made it obvious cause he had that crease between his eyes and I knew he was trying and wishing to hear my mind.
He didn't understand, and I knew it wasn't his fault.
I missed my mom.
I didn't notice I was crying until a tear fell on my cheek.
I quickly wiped my eyes.
"I'm sorry I didn't,"
"No, no, please." I laughed."It's silly."
"No, something's wrong."
"I just miss my mom. I hope she's okay," I said.
"You don't know where she is?"
I shook my head. I took a deep breath.
"This wasn't meant to happen."
"What?"
I looked at Edward. I wasn't sure how to tell him.
"Phil is a baseball player with minor leagues. I was in a coma, so my mom didn't have to be a mom. I know she loves me but I know she had to think I wasn't going to wake. She is a very free-spirited person looking at me in a hospital like that would have hurt her. She wouldn't want to see me like that I know maybe a few weeks then she would think more along the lines of, if I couldn't live my life she would live it for me." I laughed. I knew what she would be like. "She married Phil and took off before baseball season restarted they could be anywhere."
I laughed and continued. "She could be in a whole other called Phil's coach, and he said he would tell them I had woken and give them the letters I had sent. I also wrote my mom some emails, but she is not good at checking technology."
"I'm sorry, Bella."
"It's okay. I miss her she's my mom, but I feel she's okay, and I know she's having a good time with Phil he will take care of her."
Edward took my hand and gave a gentle squeeze, and I tightly squeezed back.
"Better get to class, huh?"
He gently smiled and nodded.
I opened my door and got out of the car.
Edward walked me to class.
Classes went by as normal. Edward met me at the end of every class to ask a question.
Jessica did ask me questions in trig and Spanish.
I answered the best I could for her.
Edward walked me to lunch and continued across-examination.
In Biology, we held hands as we both tried to stay seated in our seats and not attack each other. At least I was trying not to jump him
In Gym Mike played and I watched he didn't say anything to me upset I'm sure about yesterday.
Edward asked everything about me and more on the drive home.
I finally looked at him and laughed.
"What?"
"I don't know it. I think this is the most I've spoken in. I couldn't tell you, and I don't think a single person has ever asked me these things. I don't even think my mom or dad could answer some of these rights." I smiled.
"I want to know everything." He said.
"I got that. you know some things come with time you do have to spend days asking questions." I smiled.
"Does it bother you?"
"Not really."
"Well, I'm done for today, your fathers coming."
"Oh no, how late is it?"
"It's twilight," Edward murmured, looking at the western horizon, obscured as it was with clouds. His voice was thoughtful as if his mind were somewhere far away. I stared at him as he gazed unseeingly out of the windshield.
I was still staring when his eyes suddenly shifted back to mine.
"It's the safest time of day for us," he said, answering the unspoken question in my eyes. "The easiest time. But also the saddest, in a way… the end of another day, the return of the night. Darkness is so predictable, don't you think?" He smiled wistfully.
"I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars." I frowned. "Not that you see them here much."
"Charlie will be here in a few minutes. so unless you want to tell him about me and Saturday..."
He raised an eyebrow.
"He knows we are friends and I will be with a friend on Saturday."
"A friend?"
"Alice."
"But we should wait just a bit before I introduce you."
"Okay."
"Thank you."
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
"He reached over to open the door and froze.
"Not good." He muttered."What?"
"Complication." He said glumly.
I looked confused, and then it dawned on me.
"Oh, Jake and Billy. They are here for the game tonight, I forgot." I was going to slap myself with my hand but was stopped by a cold hand grabbing mine gently.
"Dont. It's okay, but I have to go." He said.
"Yes, yes." I nodded and hurried out of his car.
It, of course, was too late, and Edward left as Billy and Jake pulled up.
I waved to them with a smile.
Charlie pulled up once Jake got out of the truck.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't see you behind the wheel, Jake," Charlie said as he got out of the cab.
"I have to get around somehow. "Billy answered.
I headed into the house.
I went to the kitchen, opened the fridge took out the cheese and butter.
Charlie made small my memory served me Their TV broke and that's why they are here.
"Are you all hungry?" I called knowing they would say no.
"We eat before coming," Jacob answered.
"Dad?"
"Sure Bells I'm going to turn on the game first."
"Okay."
I got to work making the grilled cheeses I felt Jake behind me as I was slicing up a tomato.
"How have you been?" Jacob asked.
"Pretty good." I smiled. "How are you and the guys?"
"Good, um the guys were wondering if you were coming up this weekend? You can even invite your friends."
"Sorry, Jake it's the High school Homecoming Saturday."
"Oh, um next time the." He said awkwardly.
I finished the cooking.
Making a plate for Dad and Me I took his plate into the living room and a cold beer in hand.
I brought on for Billy as well.
"Thanks, Bells."
"Thank you, Bella." He said and eyed me.
"You're welcome."
I went back into the kitchen.
I sat at the table and Jake sat down as well.
"So um is something wrong with the truck?" he asked.
"Nope. It works fine."
"Good, I just noticed you weren't driving it so.."
"Oh, yeah Edward and Alice came to get me today cause we had a project to work on, and I'm on the way from their place."
"I should have known it was him dad had a look like he knew who it was."He shook his head "Superstishis old man."
I didn't respond just took another bite of my grilled cheese.
"So you're going to the dance with the boyfriend?"
"Oh no I didn't feel up for Homecoming we made plans to just hang out with his family this weekend I'll be meeting his mom for the first time."
"Oh meeting the parents." H grinned
"Yeah." I smiled "He said Esme is great, I know Carlisle is so I have high hopes."
Jake nodded. I knew it was awkward I wanted my best friend Jake but this Jake was the young Jacobe who thinks himself in love with me thanks to his dad.
We tried more small talk about the guys and school.
The game ended and He and Billy left.
"Hey Bells I didn't have a chance to ask how was school?"
"It was good. Alice and I were making plans at lunch for this weekend. Her brothers and Carlisle will be out fishing as well so girls' day. Then Sunday we were doing a family day she invited me to. They play board games and stuff. I think it'll be fun."
Charlie smiled "I didn't know The Doctor fished?"
"Yeah, they do a lot of outdoor stuff."
"Yeah, they do they seem to do a lot together like a family should all those kids are good."
"Yeah. You'll be gone before Alice comes over so I can follow her to her place maybe you'll meet her later or definitely Sunday."
"Of course Bells."
"Okay well, I'm going to Bed."
"Good night."
"Night."
