After the mountain Jaskier is heartbroken. He finds a witcher is being tortured, and goes to rescue him. Getting Eskel out and nursing him back to health is hard, but Jaskier puts his heart into it. They travel together to the base of Kaer Mohren, before winter. They travel together, run in a lot of trouble, get hurt, and help each other heal from their wounds (body, mind, heart)

Cahir only almost dies at Stygga Castle thanks to Yennefer and Ciri. Travelling through space, Ciri takes the badly wounded knight to Kaer Morhen. While Geralt's company (Jaskier, Milva, Regis, Cahir, Angoulême and Geralt) is staying in Beauclair, another festive event is coming up. However, like with the famous fall masquerade, not all is going as planned. This time it is not Jaskier's fault, though. Geralt's Hanza finally make it to Stygga Castle where Yennefer, sick from imprisonment and torture, meets Cahir, her once companion on the run. Before he rushes away to rescue Ciri.

As a reward for a monster kill, Lambert is gifted a young Nilfgaard slave. He is not happy. Aiden is amused. Together, they care for the child and travel with him across the Continent to find and return him to his family and home.

While sitting around the campfire with his companions, Jaskier sings one of his favourite songs. Which elicits a very unexpected reaction from one of the more recent additions to the company.
