Hollywood What If Chapter 254
Tom Rothman had complicated thoughts on so many things. He was happy that 20th Century Fox had the chance to work with Kazir Grey, but he was unhappy that Kazir Grey was working with other rivals. He was also unhappy that Grey Pictures was earning massive profits.
One billion dollars... A very huge amount of money. Even if Grey Pictures could only get 10% of that amount, they were already winning.
'Based on the contract that Grey Pictures signed, they will probably earn around $350 million. It depends on the situation, the distribution of profit internationally is very complicated and it takes months to settle it.'
Still, that amount was already huge.
Suddenly, an idea entered his mind.
'... It's either Grey Pictures is going to disappear or 20th Century Fox buys it. There's no in-between. Grey Pictures needs a solid distributor and a strong wall to depend on, it's something that they lack. Acquiring this company can bring a lot to 20th Century Fox.'
But the major problem with this was that Kazir Grey owned Grey Pictures. The sole owner. They could not buy the shares or invest in stocks, they had to directly face Kazir.
And if Kazir was not interested in selling his company, then it would be a problem.
'But just like how Miramax and New Line Cinema gave in, Grey Pictures never has the chance to stand against the Big Six. That's the truth, and I believe Kazir knew about it.'
If the Big Six made a decision and decided to gang-bang Grey Pictures, then the company would be ran through very badly... Ahem.
Anyway, it would be bad for Grey Pictures if the big giants of this industry joined hands and bullied them.
Even DreamWorks was facing a backlash despite latching on to Universal and Paramount to distribute their movies internationally.
The only way for Grey Pictures to survive was to work under one of the Big Six.
'Kazir is not stupid. He probably already thought of this thing...'
Tom Rothman realized that another competition might happen.
'I should ask the management to do some research about Grey Pictures and determine its net worth.'
Since Wanted grossed over $1 billion, Grey Pictures' net worth would probably be more than $1.5 billion. The company had profitable movies to use and it seemed that it had many copyrights about superheroes as well.
But Grey Pictures was just founded a few years ago and it has already gained a nice reputation. The company having $1.5 billion was actually amazing.
Suddenly, Tom Rothman felt bitter. He realized that Kazir might be richer than him.
Kazir was low-key rich, damn.
Before he could contact the management, his secretary informed him that George Lucas arrived.
LucasFilm was only a production company and didn't have the capability to distribute its movies, just like Grey Pictures.
However, LucasFilm was far heavier than a recent company like Grey Pictures. Even though LucasFilm only focuses on a few movies such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones, this company was far more important than Grey Pictures. The profit that LucasFilm generated every year was comparable to the Big Six. Especially now that the new trilogy of Star Wars was ongoing.
In fact, 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney had been trying their best to acquire this company. George Lucas was still bidding his time.
Although spoiler alert, the freaking Woke Disney acquired LucasFilm. The outcome of this acquisition was complicated. Either Star Wars fans love or hate it. Not gonna lie, Star Wars fans were a bit toxic.
Tom Rothman gave his approval and met George Lucas. The two greeted each other with respect and started talking about business.
"It's unfortunate that Kazir didn't agree. I really hope that he will direct Star Wars. With him, I believe Star Wars will have a great performance."
The topic went to Kazir for unknown reasons.
Tom Rothman shut his mouth but he agreed. Kazir was super dedicated to his job and the chances of Star Wars getting bigger would be high if he directed it.
George Lucas and Kazir Grey had a good relationship after their first meeting. George then tried to pitch the position to Kazir but the young director was not sure about it.
In the end, Kazir chose to film a superhero movie... No one knew the outcome of his decision.
"$1 billion box office is something that is very hard to accomplish."
George admitted and Tom agreed. Earning that amount of money was a miracle.
When the rumors that Kazir might be the director of Star Wars, Natalie Portman was actually excited and hoped that she would have a chance to work with her crush. Yep, the young actress developed a crush on the director after their first meeting.
Unfortunately, again, Kazir chose to direct a movie about a guy who climbed buildings, shoot webs, and fight crimes.
It made no sense to be honest, Star Wars was a better choice than Spider-Man. Perhaps it all came down to the salary and contract. Because Kazir received a good contract from Sony-Columbia. His salary alone was $25 million. Can you believe that?
...
...
...
"Congratulations, director!"
"Ey Willem, I should congratulate you as well. Our movie made it at the top of the box office."
Kazir Grey and Willem Dafoe were having the time of their lives while on the set of Spider-Man.
Willem had a huge role in Wanted and it set his career on a great path. Even though his character died early, it was worth it because fans started to love him.
"Auditioning for Marcus is the best decision I made in my entire life!"
Now, some studios were inviting him to work with them. But of course, he had to focus on Spider-Man first. Norman Osborn was an interesting character and Willem felt like he could bring a good portrayal of the character. Just like Kazir, he was dedicated to his art.
The other cast congratulated them as well. Tobey Maguire, James Franco, and Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten even gave Kazir a gift, a wristwatch, which was something that Kazir was surprised when he received but appreciated anyway.
