Arisugawa's Locket
Cops!
Maria Hill, Agent of SHIELD, looked distinctly uncomfortable as she ponied up to the bar. "Miss Ryouko," she nodded to the bartender.
The look she got back wasn't as unfriendly as she expected. It wasn't WARM by any degree, but she wasn't glaring either. "Been awhile," Ryouko noted before adding dryly, "thinking about busting up the bar again?"
Maria sighed. Yup, they were still holding a grudge. "Not really," she said, "in fact, the registration act that put us in that position was abolished anyway."
"Gee, thanks," Ryouko drawled. Relenting a bit she asked, "What'll you have?"
"Just coke if you have it," Maria said, "I am kinda on duty." She looked around then asked, "Is Arisugawa around?"
Ryouko looked much less impressed but nodded. "I saw her in earlier, but May might have taken over. I'll have someone check."
"Thank you," Maria sipped her drink as she turned to watch the crowd. It was a busy night, as usual, and the waitresses hurried about serving people. She had had SHIELD do some research on who's who, but it was very surreal looking at characters she thought of as fictional in real life. Or whom she might be fictional to.
"Miss Hill," May looked VERY displeased as the cyber doll passed by. "I had hoped not too see your forces here again."
"I try to avoid revisiting my screw ups too," Maria answered dryly. She took a drink of her cola to stall, "How is your girlfriend?"
"Keiko is fine, no thanks to you," May said stiffly then hurried off, the maid's long brown hair swinging angrily.
Maria sighed as she took another drink, then watched Juri cutting her way through the crowd. She was polite, nodding and smiling at people, but other than that was focused on reaching her. "Arisugawa," she nodded as Juri reached her.
"Hill," Juri returned the nod.
"I have some good news and bad news," Maria said calmly, "the good news is that after various power plays etc etc my organization is no longer interested in your bar."
"That's the good news I take it," Juri nodded, "and the bad?"
"There are two other agencies local to my world who are interested," Maria shrugged, "SWORD and ARMOR."
"You people and your acronyms," Ryouko groaned.
"Heh," Juri smiled and then looked at Maria, "What are they into, then?"
"SWORD primarily deals with aliens, so as long as your friend Ryouko here stays out of trouble in my reality you should be fine," Maria noted.
"Don't attack the bar again, and you won't have that problem," Ryouko shrugged. "Who would we be dealing with if we come under fire?" she asked.
"Abigail Brand," Maria said, "she has green hair and fire powers, oddly enough."
"And ARMOR?" Juri asked.
"They deal with Alternate Realities, so they WILL be interested in you," Maria admitted. "They are, however, more occupied with hostile acts. Keep out of trouble, they won't really care."
"That's not always under our control," Ryouko noted dryly.
Juri waved that off, "I don't imagine we'll have too much trouble. We pass through most realities with no difficulties." Curiously she asked, "Do they use troops like your SHIELD?"
"Superhuman agents, usually," Maria said. "Their current lead field agent is a girl named Lyra, with immense superhuman strength and red hair."
"Really?" Ryouko blinked a few times. "Sounds like a lady who visited a few weeks ago, actually. Wasn't much trouble."
"Right," Hill said skeptically. She shook her head, "Now that the work's done, can I get something with some booze, or can I expect to get poisoned?"
"Poisoning is bad for business," Juri laughed.
"Some rum for my coke?" Maria asked.
"Fair enough," Ryouko nodded.
As they talked, three women went by them dressed in two very stylish suits and one in a slinky dress that was very nearly illegal. "I really think this is a bad idea," Akane Tsunemori noted, the brown haired young woman looking kind of cute in her suit.
"We needed someone to come along," Yayoi Kunizuka noted, the black haired woman looking faintly amused. "You know we Enforcers can't go out without a Inspector coming along."
Akane made a face at that. She strongly disagreed with the policy of the Ministry to make Enforcers stay on base unless escorted by a Inspector. However, she lacked the authority to change that, and the Chief might do something... extreme, if she found out Akane let them go out on their own.
Shion looked amused, "Besides, we get to take a cutey like you out with us. Bonus!"
Akane blushed, unsure how to take her teasing. She was reasonably sure Shion was joking, but not entirely...
Yayoi looked amused as she tried to get them back to business, "So, we think the suspect has been ducking into here to evade capture?"
"It would make sense," Akane admitted, "she just... disappears from the Psycho Pass sensors, and the bar appears to block our sensors."
The women covertly touched the Dominator pistols they carried, but the Sybil System didn't come up and the virtual targeting system didn't appear before their eyes. It was quite disquieting, for officers who were so used to having it always available.
"Uhm, excuse me?" the cowboy hat wearing staffer smiled, her name tag announcing her name as 'Amelia.' She was tall, muscular, and had a surprisingly charming smile, really.
"Ah, yes?" Akane smiled back, even though she could probably guess what she wanted.
"Sorry, but carrying weapons ain't allowed," Amelia said, "can I ask you to leave your zap guns up at the bar?"
"Zap guns?" Shion looked amused as she drawled, "Aren't you charming?"
Deciding it might be best to keep Shion from jumping the woman Akane quickly said, "Sure, we can turn them in."
"Thank you," Amelia tipped her hat.
"Come on," Yayoi had to nearly drag Shion away.
"But she's so cute and unspoiled," Shion complained as they headed to the bar.
"And you'd probably traumatize the heck out of her," Akane noted dryly.
"Oh poo," Shion pouted cutely.
"Hey, ladies," Minagi smiled, her tail swishing back and forth.
"We need to turn in our guns, I've been told," Akane said as she put her high tech Dominator pistol on the bar top, Yayoi following.
"Oooh," Mahoro cooed, the battle maid android looking at them with interest. She pouted a bit as she noted, "Personal locks?"
"They can only be used by authorized users, yes," Shion noted.
Akane took out her ipad like communicator and hit a switch, bringing up a photo of a attractive if remote looking young woman with long black hair. "Have you seen this woman?" she asked Minagi.
Minagi looked at the photo, and appeared to recognize it but answered, "Can't say that I have."
Yayoi sighed as she said, "I understand your need to protect you customers but..."
Akane stopped her by putting a hand on Yayoi's arm. "I won't ask you to break a confidence, but I would STRONGLY urge that your bar ban this woman immediately," she said instead.
Minagi frowned as she asked, "Why?"
"Because she's a serial killer," Akane said levelly.
THAT made Minagi react. Eyes widening just a bit she said, "I'll get the boss."
The tall, orange haired woman was the sort of person that could cow even the usually irrepressible Shion. She looked grim as she introduced herself, "Juri Arisugawa. What's this about a killer?"
Akane showed her the picture, "This is Rikako Oryo, though she may be using another name. She attended school at a prestigious woman's academy, and was the star of their fine arts program."
"Yes, and?" Juri asked flatly.
"And she was killing her fellow students and turning them into art," Yayoi said flatly. "We finally caught her, but she succeeded in getting off campus and disappearing into the city."
Shion continued, "Street cameras and such have tracked her passage, but she's been hiding out in areas not connected to the city network."
"And you think she's coming here?" Juri looked at the photo. She WAS familiar, but honestly they saw hundreds of girls a night.
"We traced one of her disappearances from the city net to a appearance of your bar there," Akane said seriously.
Juri scowled, but nodded slightly. "Do you have proof of what she's done?" she asked.
"What, you don't trust us?" Shion asked, smirking.
"You don't know us," Akane said, "it's certainly understandable. I can provide some visual evidence, but it's... disturbing."
Akane brought the images up, as well as the confession that the girl had been tricked into revealing. Juri looked grim as she muttered, "That is just messed up."
Yayoi was faintly impressed Juri didn't chuck. Most civilians wouldn't be able to handle this. "Is that enough?" she asked.
"I'll have her banned," Juri agreed, "and good luck catching her."
"We should probably get back," Akane sighed once the imposing bar owner left.
"No!" Shion yelped, "I wanna dance with Yayoi. And you. And maybe all three of us can rent one of the rooms upstairs."
"Shion," Yayoi sighed as Akane went pink.
