Hello there everyone!

this took a bit longer than i expected but i'm back!

Entrance exam

"Oh wow! UA is huge!" said Kat as she and Dusty walked to the entrance.

"yeah, those images on the news really don't make it justice" said Ms Nakamura behind them, she had taken the day off to accompany her to the exam.

"now, don't get scared in there, you've been doing great in your tests, if anything, i'm sorry i couldn't help you much with your quirk."

and that was what worried Kat the most now, Ms Nakamura had spent every weekend this past 2 months trying to help her train her quirk, with very small progress to show.

not everything was bad of course, before the training she could only lift 2 objects with her quirk no matter how hard she tried to lift more, nowadays she could lift 3 objects at a time! not only that, every time she used her power she needed some time to recharge her energy, that time was now shorter, if only for a few seconds.

but outside of that? not much progress was made.

she could still only use her power for a minute and a half before being forced to stop, she couldn't fly any faster than before, she still didn't know how to fly straight, which meant that most of the time trying to return to the ground meant crashing into it directly.

of course none of it was Ms Nakamura's fault, for someone who's not a hero or has any knowledge on how to train someone's quirk she had tried her best, and if it wasn't for her then probably no progress would have been made.

if anything Kat felt that she was the one who should apologise for dissapointing her boss, but before she could voice those thoughts Ms Nakamura spoke again.

"Now run along, i'll see you when the exam is done."

"Eh, right, thank you! wish me luck!" and with that said she turned around and walked trough the entrance Dusty by her side.

After checking in with a faculty member at the entrance, she recieved a little card, it had a picture of her, along with a number that identified her as examenee 7713 for the heroics course along with the letter G on one side altough she didn't know what that meant yet.

There were signs all over the school, pointing her to where she needed to go, but being completely honest she could have just followed the crowd.

oh sure there were other exams about to take place there too, like the support course but it seemed that most people were here for the same reason as her.

she made her way to an auditorium, there were already a number of people seated there, others like her were still trying to find their seats.

Finding the seat asigned to "7713" she made her way towards it, she took a seat Dusty laying on the ground right where her feet were, and waited for the exam to begin.

"EVERYBODY SAY HEY!!!! ARE YOU READY??? YEAH!!!"

The scream was so abrupt and out of nowhere that she only managed to cover her ears by the time it was over.

"Mreooow" she heard Dusty growl clearly annoyed at the faculty member that she could only guess was a professor here.

everyone else remained quiet, some like her were looking around, a little confused about what was going on here, the professor too looked uncomfortable, this probablly wasn't the reaction he was hoping for.

"Well, anyway, listen closely! as you all know we're all here to take the entrance exam, now! in a few minutes you will take the theorical part of the exam, you'll have an hour to complete it before we move on to the next part of the exam.

now, once that hour is over, all of you will turn in your exams to me, and make your way on to the various battle center we have prepared for you, any quesions so far?"

no one said anything for a few seconds so the professor decided to keep explaining

"Very well, now every single one of you recieved a card after checking in at the entrance, there you'll find which battle ground you've been asigned to" he said as a screen behind him showed a sign in the middle that said 'you are here' while multiple arrows pointed to different battle centers, all marked with a different letter, from A to G.

'Oh so that's what the big letter on the side was for! good to know' thought Kat to herself.

"Once there you all will have 10 minutes to gather as many points as you can, if you take a look at the printouts handed to you alongside your cards, you will see that you'll acquire those points by defeating different tipes of robots prepared specifically for this exam, depending on which kind of robot you defeat you'll be awarded from one or up to three points for each robot defeated, and remember, attacking other examenees or any unheroic actions are prohibited".

"Excuse me professor!" exclaimed another student, placed a few seats to her right."in the printouts we were given there's clearly four kinds of robots to face, but you have only stated 3 of those, if this is a mistake made by UA, the most prestigious school in japan then you should be ashamed of this mistake, this institution should correct it immediately!" said the student while standing up from his seat. " Also, you! over there! the one with the curly hair!".

he said while turning around and pointing a finger at another person, a guy with curly green hair and freckles, who looked a little scared at being called out like this.

"you've been muttering this entire time, if you won't take this seriously you should leave, and be respectfull towards the rest of us and the staff at UA".

"Ok, ok examenee number 7111, thanks for bringing that up!" said the professor while making hand signs to the examenee, probablly trying to defuse the situation before more could be said. "there is technically a fourth kind of robot you'll encounter on the battle center, however you'll gain no points for fighting it, think of the zero pointer like an obstacle".

"Thank you very much, please excuse the interruption!".said the examenee that made the question while doing a 90 degree bow to the teacher, Kat had to actually stop herself from laughing a little at that, he'd probablly call her out on it next.

"Any other questions?...anyone?" said the professor while he looked around but everyone was quiet "good then, let's begin your exams, and remember, here at UA we like to live by our school motto... GO BEYOND, PLUS ULTRA!!!!!" Once more the screen behind him showed something, in big golden letters, the school motto was displayed proudly.

Kat smiled a little to herself, trying to calm down her own fears, 'she can do this right?'.

"Ugh, my brain is jelly now" said Kat as she walked out of a bus, the exam had taken her the whole hour to finish it and she didn't feel particularly good about it.

WHOSE IDEA WAS TO ADD THE ALPHABET TO MATH!?!?!

"Meow?"Said Dusty while he exited the bus, just a few steps behind her while giving her an expression that said 'it couldn't have been that bad right?'

"Oh it really was that bad Dusty" she said as she finally looked up to where she was supposed to take the practical part of the exam and she couldn't help but gasp at the sight of it.

"what the- THAT'S A CITY???"no wonder the had told them all to get into a bus, they told them that the battle centers were kinda far from the main building so they'd be taken there on bus.

"How much space does this school have? or money for that matter?" Said Kat while walking towards the giant door in front of her, while joining the other students that were with her on the bus.

she couldn't spend more time wondering about it as the gate suddenly opened and she heard a loud scream on the distance.

"Ok start!" she knew that voice, it came from the top of a tower overlooking tha battle centres, it was from the same person that hd given the speech before the written part of the exam, she along the rest of the examenees on battle center G just stood there, confused about what they were supposed to do.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING PEOPLE? THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES, SO GET GOING YOU'VE ONLY GOT TEN MINUTES REMEMBER?"

The moment he finished speaking every examenee began to run towards the battle center as if their life depended on it.

"Come on Dusty! we can't fall behind!" said Kat as she began to run too, Dusty running by her side.

"Meow!" responded the cat in an exited voice, he probablly wanted to prove himself too.

As they ran everyone began to scatter around the battle center, everyone looking for a robot to destroy.

As she ran with some of the other examenees Kat suddenly decided to turn to the right in a random street, and kept going straight for a street or two before on a corner a robot appeared.

it was bigger than her, covered in green plates and a big 1 painted on it's shoulders.

"Finally! let's do this Dusty!" she said as she kept running towards the robot.

"Mreow" responded Dusty as his body vanished in a black mist.

Kat jumped into the air right as her body began to glow a bright red and flew as fast as she could towards her target, angling herself to kick it straight to the chest.

the moment her feet conected to the robot it fell apart, it's body breaking into many pieces and she fell to the ground as Dusty reappeared.

"Good work, we got one!" Said Kat exited while lifting herself up.

however before Dusty couldn't respond two more robots appeared down the street, one just like the one she had just destroyed, the other being bigger that the other, a big 3 painted on it's shoulders.

they were a little far off but that wouldn't be a problem for her, smiling she called on Dusty's power and he vanished once more.

however this time she didn't move towards them, instead she focused on the broken pieces of the robot she had already destroyed, making them float around her.

she took a second or two aiming and then she threw the floating pieces of metal towards the robots.

the smaller robot fell quickly, it just took a single hit to destroy it as the first one had, the other seemed to be tougher, while it showed some damage from the impacts it was still standing and moving towards her.

Kat decided to lift 3 more pieces of metal, the most she could lift with her quirk and ran towards the robot.

as she ran she threw all 3 pieces of metal towards the robot's chest and after that, she jumped into the air and once more prepared herself to kick it.

the pieces of metal struck right on it's chest and while looking a little bit more damaged, just as before it was not enough to destroy it.

however that was not her plan, staggered by the impacts the robot could not defend itself when she kicked it's head with all her speed, breaking it into many tiny pieces.

once more she fell into the ground, but expecting it this time she managed to angle herself to not fall on her face again, and just as she did Dusty reappeared beside her.

the whole encounter had only lasted a few seconds, so it took only an instant before she felt Dusty's energy charge back.

'Ready to go?" she asked her companion, she knew he was recharged already, but she didn't want to do this without him at his best.

"Meow!" responded the cat quickly.

"Hehe good, let's go!" said Kat as she began running once again turning left in a corner searching for more robots to destroy.

"Many interesting quirks nowadays, don't you think?" said a small creature in a dark room full of screens, all of them looking at a different area of the various centers.

"there's a lot of variety this year, that's for sure" said a woman with blue eyes and dark hair.

"but it's how they use them that matters, look at that, some of them are fighting amongst themselves." said a blond man, the newest faculty member at UA.

"This happens every year" said said a man with dishheveled black hair while looking at the screens with a tired expression.

"Indeed, they're not aware of how many enemies remain, soon enough they start to lash out at anyone who get's in their way, in any case, the exam is almost over, shall we release the zero pointer now?." said the small creature, while looking around the room for any objections, after finding none he turned towards another staff member, a man who looked like a walking wall of concrete.

"then it's time for the real test to begin."

CRACK

"That makes 37 points" Said kat as she finished kicking another robot " what do you think Dusty?" asked the girl while turning towards her feline companion.

"Mreow" was the cat's response to her it sounded like a "so far, so good."

"Well let's keep going, we can't fall behind". said the girl while turning towards the next street to explore, however before she could take even one step she felt an earthquake, making her fall to her knees, Dusty at her side looking a little scared himself.

"Seriously?!?! an earthquake???? now of all times?" however before she could say or do anything else she saw a lot of the examenees running away in a panic, maybe one of the buildings in the battle center had fallen?

she got up and ran towards where most of the other exaamenees where coming from, and only then did she see it.

"A GIANT ROBOT?!?! THAT'S WHAT CAUSED THE EARTHQUAKE?!?!" Said Kat while looking directly at the robot causing all this chaos.

it was green, like all the robots they had faced a few minutes before, only this one was a lot bigger.

bigger than some buildings even.

Kat was about to turn around and run along with everyone else, but then she saw something.

there were a handfull of examenees right in front of the robot, however none of them were moving.

"We have to help them Dusty!" follow me.

"meow" said tha cat, clearly not too happy to be running towards the giant robot.

"let's get to the ones closer to the robot first!" said Kat, setting her sights on a girl with pink hair and skin, and as she got closer she saw one more thing.

the piece of rubble her leg was trapped under was slowly becoming smaller, thanks to a strange liquid coming from the pink girl's skin, however she stopped thinking about it as she saw the giant robot get a little bit closer.

"Hey, don't worry, i got you!" said Kat as she reached the pink girl, as soon as she was close enough she called on Dusty's power and focused on the piece of rubble in front of her.

the pink girl looked confused for a second before lifting herself up.

Kat took a good look at her and was happy to see that she was fine, only a few bruises and scratches on her leg.

"That was a lot faster than my acid! thanks a lot!" exclaimed the pink girl with a smile.

Kat was about to respond when she noticed the big robot from before was still walking towards them.

"Hey, there are others trapped in here, can you help me free them?!" said Kat while taking a step back from where the robots was coming from.

the girl looked back at the robot and them towards the other trapped examenees before gaining a look of determination and looking back at Kat.

"You can count on me!" said the pink girl while both ran towards the other students.

together they released 3 more people, using a combination of acid to melt some of the bigger pieces of rubble while she used her quirk to make the smaller ones float away.

However before they could focus on the next person to release another earthquake, this one much closer than the previous one, and then they realized that they had been ignoring the giant robot all along.

"Hey, i've got an idea, you help everyone get out of here! i'll distract that thing!"

the pink girl looked confused at this "What, how?"

"With the same rubble we just removed, can you do it?"

the girl took a look at the robot and for an instant she actually looked scared, before taking a determined look once again "Got it" and just with that she ran towards the next trapped examenee, acid forming on her hands".

"Are you ready Dusty?" asked Kat to her companion once more, truth be told she was scared too, but at least she has her first friend at her side, even if it's a part of her quirk.

"Mreeeow" Said Dusty, still not too happy to be in this situation but standing by her side.

She called on the power again, making her glow a bright red once again, however this time she also focused on lifting 3 of the pieces of rubble around her.

after only a second she took to the sky, her sight set on the robot's head.

she needed to be quick she could only fly for a minute and a half at best, and lifting those pieces of rubble had taken some of her energy too, so she'd be lucky to have a little over a minute before having to stop for about 30 seconds.

she flew until she was high enough to look directly at the robot's eyes.

"Here goes nothing" she muttered to herself before flying to the right, avoiding one of the robot's arms trying to take her down.

as soon as she avoided that hit she threw one of the pieces of rubble towards the robot's face.

"Hey, try to catch me!" she already had it's attention before, now it was solely focused on her.

she flew towards it's back as fast as she could hoping it would turn around and chase her while the pink girl helped the others.

the robot turned it's head at surprising speed and lifted it's left arm to hit her while she passed by, missing by only a few metres.

she saw an opening and went for it, throwing the 2 remaining pieces of rubble floating with her towards the robot's eyes actually managing to break one... out of six.

The robot once more turned towards her, this time lifting both arms at neck breaking speeds, the fingers of both giant hands encircled her, leaving without much space to move, however before they could close in around her she heard a loud scream in the distance.

"TIME'S UP EVERYONE!!!! GOOD WORK!!!".

as soon as that was said the giant robot stopped moving, lowering it's arms.

she was so baffled by the whole situation that she had forgotten all about her time limit... until she saw Dusty appear in front of her, right before they both started to fall to the ground.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" was the only thing the other examenees heard as she fell, she's lucky that her flying quirk seems to reduce the damage she takes from falling otherwise she's sure she'd have a few broken bones by now.

"Hey, are you okay?" Kat heard at the same time that she heard footsteps running towards her.

it was the pink girl from before she seemed worried.

"I'm fine, still haven't learned how to land though" said Kat as she got up only to remember that Dusty had been with her just a second ago. "Dusty? DUSTY! where are you???"

"Mreeeeoooow" she then saw him, he had fallen a few metres away from her, he looked fine phisically at least he was obviously in a bad mood after all that.

"Is that your cat???? oh he's so cute!!!" said the girl with pink skin as she took a step towards Dusty before carrying him and give him a very big hug.

The cat, who was already angry didn't take kindly to a stranger suddenly being so close to him, so he started squirming in an attempt to get away from the girl until she let him go.

"Heh, sorry about that, this is Dusty, he's a part of my quirk so i guess in a way he is my cat". Kat said as she watched Dusty run towards her and hide behind her leg in an obvious attempt at keeping the pink girl away.

"Ah, no biggie, oh hey my name's Mina Ashido, and you are?". Said the now identified Mina with a smile on her face while extending her arm towards her, seemingly unbothered by how Dusty had acted.

"Oh... ummm my name is Alua... but my friends call me Kat". She said with a smile as she took Mina's hand and shaking it.

They were friends now right? together they helped save other people after all.

Uuuugh, this chapter was a nightmare to write, had to start from scratch like 3 times
