This is my first story, so I don't think i twill be very good. Do be sure to at least try to read this story, because I would love the feedback.

Ch1: rebirth
When I awoke, if you could really call it that, all I could see was white. I was wondering what happened, and why I wasn't in my room anymore, when it appeared. It looked like a horse in a fence, but when I looked closer, I remembered. This was Arceus, the god of all Pokémon!
What kind of dream is this?
"This is not a dream, young one."
You can read my thoughts?
"I can, godhood comes with alot of perks. Now, as to why you are here, I am afraid you died. You werent supposed to, you should've lived till 83, not 18. But alas, it didn't happen that way. Because of my mistake though, I have decided to reincarnate you in the Pokémon world."
I tried tos peak, but then I finally realised I was just a floating light, softly flickering like a beating heart.
What is happening? Where is my body?
"Ah, yes" Arceus started, "an unfortunate side effect really. You will keep your memories and soul upon arriving in this new world, however your body you will not. And don't feel bad, the person you were set to inhabit was set to die soon, but with you inhabiting the body, the child will live on. You will be about 15 years old, just the right age to go on a journey if you so wish."
Do I get any say in where I get to be reborn in this new world? Because I would love to live in the Sinnoh region if at all possible.
"That can be arranged. With all that set and done, our time here is coming to a close. I wish you luck on your adventures, young one. I hope you will do great things, bet hat on an adventure or not. Farewell."
And with that, a blinding light enveloped everything, and by the time I woke up again, I started thinking about the implications this rebirth brought wit hit.
"Uuugghh… this has got to be the worst headache I have ever had…"
I looked around and saw I was in a small room. Upon seeing a mirror in a small bathroom, I looked at my new body. It was remarkably similar to my old one, yet with some subtle differences. For instance, my blueish gray eyes weren ow more fog gray coloured, and my hair took a more reddish blond hue.
Then some memories hit me. My new name was Luca, I loved watching Pokémon battles, I am 15 years old and an orphan. I also learned if I were to decide not to go on a journey then I would need to get an education and find a job before I turned 18.
Not that I would turn down the offer of a journey, but it comes with expenses that I don't think I can really afford.
I heard someone shout my name, the matron of the orphanage I stayed at, and if my memories served me correctly, her name was Mell. I quickly dressed in what clothes I could find and headed tot he dining room. I was the only child awake, yet there were several people doing stuff for us, like preparing breakfast. As I turned to get some food, Mell talked to me.
"There you are, Luca. About time, too! You will get your first Pokémon today, remember?"
I didn't, but I wasn't about to tell her that. So i responded with a question.
"Do I get to choose? Maybe like a Starly or a Shinx?"
Mell looked at me, amsued, and said "No, I have prepared a Pokémon for you I think you would like, though it isn't native here in Sinnoh. Now come on, food can wait. Let's go to my office."
I followed her, frowning in thought.
What could it be? Maybe a Pidgey? Or a Zigzagoon?
Imagine my surprise when upon entering her office and sitting down, she throws a Pokeball at me, which I fumble to catch, though I just barely managed to do so. I looked at her with a question in my eyes, but she merely smiled and nodded tot he Pokeball.
I tossed it to the ground, and out came… a Horsea? I wasn't expecting that. I thought they were pretty rare, especially here in Sinnoh!
It must've shown on my face, because Mell chuckled and smiled at me knowingly, and cheekily said "I asked an old acquaintance of mine to help me get this little girl here for you, I thought it would fit you perfectly. Now, meet your new Horsea, Luca."
I looked stunned that she would do that for me, but then again, she always favoured me, or, well, the old Luca.
I looked at the Horsea, and I instantly loved it. Her, I reminded myself, I instantly loved her.
"Hey there, girl. How would you like to become my partner?"
She looked at me intensely for a while, but then chirped happily, odly enough standing on her tail, bouncing on it straight into my lap. It was about as big as my hands, if I put them on top of each other squeezed together as fists.
Then something hit me. This was really happening. I had a Pokémon. I was reincarnated and I was gonna go on a journey!
Mell then asked the most important question right now, "What will you do Luca? Are you going to go on a journey? Or will you go to school and get a standard job?"
I shuddered at that last bit. I was horrible at learning in school. So, I decided to go on a journey. I said as much, too.
"I will go on a journey, Mell. I think I am going to challenge the gyms and participate in the Sinnoh league that will happen in about a year."
Mell smiled at me and said "Just remember to have fun, dear. Also, i managed to get a secondhand pokedex for you, just in case you would choose to adventure. It will serve as your id as well. Here."
She handed me a small red rectangular device, kind of reminiscent of a Nintendo DSi. How ironic.
"I also opened a bank account for you, because you will nee dit. I put in about 10000 pokedollars, which should last you about 2 months, including the initial expenses of buying supplies like a backpack, Pokeballs and food for you and Horsea. You should leave as soon as you are ready."
I stood up, walked around the desk and hugged her. I didn't need to say anything to tell her how happy I was right now.
When I entered the streets of Jubilife, as that is where the orphanage was located, I couldn't help but wonder at all the marvels around me. So many different Pokémon everywhere, like Starly flying overhead, Machoke helping someone move by lifting everything from a truck to a house, you name it.
I started walking down the street towards a big building with a blue roof, indicatin it as the Pokemart. When I entered, I bought 20 Pokeballs, a backpack with size enlargement tech for more storage, a sleeping bag, a tent, some potions and some antidotes, because you never know when your Pokémon might get poisoned.
With that all taken care of, and my bank account about 3000 pokedollars lighter, I headed tot he Pokecenter right nextdoor. When I entered, I sa wit was pretty empty besides a Nurse Joy at the counter and some trainers hanging around here and there. I walked up tot he desk and talked to Nurse joy.
"Hello, Nurse Joy. I would like to sign up for the Sinnoh league."
She looked up and smiled.
"Sure thing, I will just need your id, please."
I took out my pokedex and handed it to her. She raised an eyebrow, but said nothing as she put it in a slot in her computer and typed some things. After about 2 minutes, she gave back my pokedex and started talking.
"Alright Luca, you have been registered fort he Sinnoh league. Is there anything else you need?"
I thought a little, but shook my head and left. As I exited the building, I headed towards route 203. As I entered the route, I released Horsea from her Pokeball and she bounded to my shoulder instantly. I smiled at her and walked to a small open spot away from the road.
"Hey there, girl. What do you say we start training?"
She chirped back happily, firing a small water gun at a rock nearby.
I chuckled, glad she was so eager to train.
But first, I will have to check out my Horsea, because all I know right now is that she is a female. I pointed my pokedex at her, and it buzzed to life.
"BZZT This Horsea is female, and has the ability sniper. The moves she knows are water gun, dragon breath, agility, tackle and the egg move aurora beam. She is also holding a dragon scale BZZT."
I looked surprised, and Horsea seemed to puff up with pride. I asked if I could see the dragon scale and she gave it to me, though I don't know how or where she kept it. I pocketed it and decided to have her battle some wild Pokémon, so I could see how she fights.
When we stopped fort he day, I was flabbergasted by how strong this little lady is. She not only took down 20 different Pokémon, 3 of those came at her at once as well! She took down some Budew, Starly, a few Bidoof and even a Shinx! And she made it look effortless too!
Now that I knew how she fought, I could focus more on how to train her, and the first thing I did was make her run, or slide if you will, 20 laps around the clearing we found, and I joined her, jogging next to her. When I saw how easy she went through them all, I asked her if I could tie a big rock to her, and she nodded at me in confirmation.
So, I tied the biggest rock I could find, of about 40 kg, to my Horsea and made her slide the laps again, this time with noticeably more difficulty. Meanwhile I went and did some pushups.
When we were both done, I made a small fire and we roasted some Magikarp we caught in a small lake nearby. They were pretty tasty.
After that she sprayed out the campfire and we went to sleep in my tent, me in my sleeping bag and Horsea on top of me, curled into herself. All in all, I would say this was a succesful first day.
When we woke up the next day, we immediately started training again. I decided to work on her speed, and have her combine agility with tackle to make a makeshift quick attack. After a few hours, we took a break toe at breakfast, and then set out on the road towards Oreburgh Gate.
On the way we encountered some trainers, but all were swiftly defeated. The only interesting fight was a kid with a Chimchar, but the fight ended pretty quick still. In that battle though, Horsea got the hang of our improvised quick attack, and was able to outspeed and take down the nimble monkey.
With all those wins to our name, my bank account looked alot better, the winnings from our little bout netting me a whopping 1000 pokedollars.
When we arrived at the entrance to Oreburgh Gate, I decided we should train some more and head into the cave in the morning. We found a nice remote spot to do some power training, and I decided to teach her to divert her aurora beam into several smaller beams to hit more targets at once, and she took to it like a seahorse in water.
The next day, we went into the cave. It was really underwhelming, though the tough Geodudes and the occasional Psyduck provided a good way to train our endurance and awareness. I almost tripped over the foot of a Graveler at one point, and it got enraged. It started attacking by using rollout on me, completely ignoring Horsea.
I saw it coming at me fast and had to be quick with my orders.
"Horsea, use water gun!" I yelled.
She immediately complied, hitting the Graveler and making it flinch in pain. It stopped rolling and turned to Horsea.
"Horsea use aurora beam freeze its limbs!"
Once more, Horsea didn't question me and did what I asked, though the Graveler was able to avoid a few of the blasts, only getting a single foot and 2 arms stuck. It started stamping its other foot in a magnitude, though not as strong as it could have been if it had both feet available to it. It hit Horsea and dissoriented me for a bit, and Horsea cried out in pain, struggling to stay standing.
Once it stopped, its other foot was free and it was trying to pick up a rock, presumably for a rock throw attack. I sa wit coming though, and was just barely faster.
"Horsea, use dragon breath!"
It struck true, and the Graveler dropped the rock right back down. When I looked closely I could see small sparks coming off of the Graveler, indicating it had been paralyzed. I smirked, this was our chance.
"Finish this, use water gun Horsea!"
And with that last attack hitting the Graveler head on, the Graveler unable to do more then raise its not frozen arms, it fainted.
We cheered and smiled at each other and quickly went further, before more Pokémon gathered and attacked us. Not long after the encounter, we found the exit and entered Oreburgh City. It was refreshing to smell the fresh air again, and we made a beeline fort he Pokecenter. When we entered, I returned Horsea to her pokeball and gave it to Nurse Joy. She happily accepted the pokeball and placed it in a machine to check the health of my Horsea. When that was done, she turned on the healing feature and after a few minutes came back.
"Horsea has been completely healed, and should be good to go. Have a nice day."
"Thanks, nurse Joy" I said, nodding at her. I headed upstairs, and went to the room I was assigned by her earlier, entering and releasing Horsea after closing the door. I took a shower, and then started strategizing at the small desk in the corner of the room about how to beat Roark, as he is our next big challenge.
When I thought I had something solid, I went downstairs to the pokecenter cafetaria and grabbed some pokefood for Horsea and some sandwiches for me. We ate them together in our room, and went to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a big day, what with our first gym battle and all.
A/N
This was chapter 1 of this new story of mine, it was pretty fast paced, but I didn't want tod well too much on the boring stuff and wanted to get into the more exciting stuff. This story will be following the routes and cities of the game, with aspects like characters and other things from the anime. Pokémon also don't have a limit on moves in my fic, though that doesn't mean they immediately master everything super fast. I don't know if I will get a traveling companion for Luca, but we'll see. Anyways, see you next time!
