Much to no one's surprise, Saix seemed unhappy with their report on the new world. Then again, it seemed Saix had no patience for anyone or anything, and Saix lectured Xion and Roxas for wasting a mission. Neither had any idea why. Axel had seen the entire conversation , and had taken them to their usual spot on the Twilight Town clock tower.
"Don't mind that jerk," Axel told them, "He's just being more of an asshole than usual. Demyx screwed up a mission again, most likely. So what was the new world like?"
"It was strange," Roxas replied. "It's really drab for a world named after a chocolate factory. And cold. Like snow and our organization coats doing jack all to keep us warm cold." Xion shivered thinking about it.
"Ended up having to fight Heartless in an actual dump," Xion muttered. Axel shuddered.
"Oof, that would explain the smell," Axel joked. "No wonder Saix's pissed." Xion snorted in response.
"There was a kid in the dump," Roxas said. Axel turned to him.
"Did he see you?" Axel asked. Roxas and Xion's guilty looks said all he needed to know. "Well shit. I assume you were smart enough not to put that in your report. Saix's a dick already, him knowing you two got spotted would make him even worse." Xion and Roxas nodded. "So what was the kid doing in the dump?"
"Apparently he collects stuff to repurpose them," Xion responded. "He was way too skinny for a kid his age." Roxas nodded in response.
"He looked like he couldn't afford much." Roxas added.
Axel decided to change the subject. "So did you see what the factory looked like?"
Xion shook her head. "Nope, apparently it's been closed to the public for years. Though it's owned by someone named Willy Wonka." At that, Axel started laughing.
"Wait seriously, his name is Willy? Like what parent actually named their kid that?" Axel asked. Roxas and Xion didn't see what was so funny. Axel finally stopped laughing. "So anything else about the world?" Roxas looked at Xion.
"Well, there was this creepy tramp," Roxas said. "Seemed interested in the kid." Xion shook her head.
"He seemed more protective to me" Xion rebutted. "It felt like he knew more than he let on. There was something about him."
"Maybe he's Willy Wonka himself?" Axel joked, and Xion snorted in response.
"I'm pretty sure he isn't." Xion replied.
"But maybe he is?" Roxas teased, and thus they all started laughing while watching the sunset.
A few weeks later, Xion had been assigned a mission to The Chocolate Factory. Thankfully it was a simple mission, which was just fighting Heartless. She was alone on this mission, as she hadn't been on a mission with Roxas since the recon mission. She was halfway through the mission, and thankfully it had gone better than the last mission. She wanted to throttle whatever god decided to make a Heartless out of a freaking car.
She was brought out of her thoughts by a voice.
"Nice to see you again!" It was the kid, Charlie Bucket if she remembered correctly. "How'd ya do?"
"Alright," Xion responded. She really wasn't supposed to talk to world residents unless it was unavoidable, but she didn't have the heart to shoo the kid away. Even if she didn't have one at the moment. Charlie looked at her Keyblade, and the heartless she had just vanquished.
"Are you an exterminator?" Charlie asked. "Those things are showing up more recently."
"Well, of a sort," Xion responded. It wasn't really a lie anyway. "And yeah, these things are what I have to deal with."
Charlie gave her a look.
"Are there a lot of those things?" He asked. Xion nodded and would have something, but saw that a large group of Neoshadows had formed.
"Get behind me!" She called out, and she made sure to get between the Heartless and Charlie. "These things are dangerous, so you need to get home!"
Charlie looked at her with worried eyes.
"Listen to her, Bucket!" Another voice called out. the Tramp, Xion realized. She hadn't even seen him, but now she saw he was in the corner. Had he been there the entire time?
"Stay safe," Charlie whispered, and took off towards his home.
Xion set her sights on the Heartless group, and proceeded to fight them.
Sometime later, Xion had finally defeated all of the heartless. God, she hated large groups. She had to pause to catch her breath, and she definitely needed a potion. Xion saw that the tramp had come closer to her.
"Are you alright?" He asked her, and he seemed to be concerned. Xion nodded. He looked towards where the heartless had been. "What the hell are those things?"
"Heartless," Xion whispered. The man sighed.
"Fitting name" he muttered. Xion couldn't help but nod. The man looked at her. "Thank you"
"For what?" Xion asked, confused.
"Protecting Charlie." He replied. "I misjudged you, I initially thought you and your friend were going to hurt him. I was wrong."
Xion shook her head.
"Charlie's a sweet kid." She said. The man looked at her.
"So an exterminator?" He questioned. Xion shrugged her arms. It was as good an explanation as any, she guessed. "So what's your name?"
"Xion," she responded. The man smiled.
"A pleasure to meet you, my dear girl. Please be careful."
Xion took a look at her counter, and found that she had exceeded her quota for Heartless. She looked up to see the man was walking away.
"What's your name sir?" Xion called. If the man had heard her, he didn't respond. A strange man indeed.
The idea that he could be Willy Wonka seemed less like a silly idea after all.
