Hey, so sorry for taking long. I've been busy getting into the grove of term 2 and starting new modules. But here is the next one and it is extra longer.
The Snap of Resurrection
Colin was shooting across the space. Through the void of colourful nebulas, spinning galaxies and countless stars, he saw a shooting one. Only it was a star. He'd recognise that golden trail anywhere. He flew towards it.
Wendy with her hair cut shorter and curled saw her twin and greeted him. "Brother…did you find them?". Her brother was quiet. "What happened?"
"I found them. Peter…was with them. He's the reason they knew about Doctor Strange's foresight of only one path to victory, why they found the stone. I said awful things to him. Out of guilt, he sacrificed himself for the light stone. And it was all for nothing,"
"So there is no stone?"
The stone was placed inside a special little box for protection, residing in Peter's fingers during the flight. The leading ship was currently on auto-pilot and the five loved ones were taking moments to themselves whilst it led the other three through a galaxy of floating rocks that would provide the quickest way to Earth. Leok was lying on his bed, just staring up at the ceiling, and Hippoflash's head was lying on his chest, trying to comfort him.
Tobey was tidying some things and polishing his laser-sabre handle. Scylla was looking at his picture. Sylva and Peter were sitting together at the front, enjoying the flashing stars.
"Dad, what happened to you? When did you fall into that void? How did you pass the final test?"
"I saw my mother," Peter said solemnly, touching the wrist with no watch.
Sylva blinked. "What was she like?"
He chuckled a little to himself, trying to make golden childhood memories flash in his eyes.
"She was just like how I remembered her. She reminded me of your aunt,"
"I would have loved to have met her," Sylva wished.
"She would have loved you very much. And I know you would have spent every possible moment listening to have song she collected growing up,"
Sylva giggled. "Did you talk to her?" he nodded. "What did you guys talk about?"
"Things. She knows about me and your aunt. And she made me promise to try and make amends with Tina,"
"When she sees you with the stone, she'll forgive you. And she needs your forgiveness too,"
Buzz! Buzz! The machines blinked and Tobey came rushing to the front with his son and surrogate sister. "What's that?"
Peter activated some screens. "The ship's picking up ships approaching from the rear,"
Tobey peered closer. "Oh no. Brace yourselves!"
Before anyone could react, the sound of blasting stuck the ship and it rocked. Quickly Tobey took control and everyone buckled up. "Erzi!"
"Ships on us cap!" Erzi called. "About ten of them!"
"What are they?" Sylva cried out.
"Look!" Leok pointed outwards and they saw ten cuboid ships of blood red and to their alarm, space people in suits were being released in pods to strike at them.
Tobey turned pale. "Oh no,".
"What do you mean 'oh no?" his brother asked.
"It's him,"
Colin and Wendy were attempting to contact the Avengers when something tingled down Wendy's spine. She twisted her head. "What is it?" her twin asked. She narrowed her eyes and in the distance, she saw space rocks exploding thousands and thousands of miles away. "There is an attack,"
Already half of the main ships had been blasted down but the space-suited soldiers were shooting at them. The leading ship mostly. Scylla and Peter took them out using the cannons whilst Tobey did his best to dodge their enemies' attacks but boom!. The left engine exploded catching fire. "Abandon ship!" he cried. "Erzi! Cover for us!"
"You got it cap!" Erzi called through. "Phateia?!"
"I'm on it!". From her ship, the Dragokren activated a spacesuit over her body and she was launched into space, taking down numbers of attackers with her guns. Grabbing their items, the family of five slid down some poles to the lower decks where they found space suits and a small pod to fit them all in. Except Hippoflash. Quickly they activated the breathable suits over their bodies and all but Peter managed to get inside. The ship was blasted again and Peter fell away from the others.
"Dad!" Sylva cried. She cried to get out but the pod was sealed tight and without thinking, Peter pressed the button and it launched without him. He activated his space mask and rocket boosters and flew out after them, Hippoflash behind him too.
One of the space-suited aggressors saw the pod with the four passengers and then Peter and the Hippodraken trying to catch up to them. She pressed a button on her helmet. "There's our target,". She flew towards him, followed by five others.
Struggling to catch up to the pod with his family in it, Peter turned back and saw the suited soldiers flying towards him. "Oh, shit," he cursed. She soared up, trying to dodge them.
Sylva saw through the window. "Dad!"
Tobey steered the pod but he struggled to manoeuvre it to safety. "Phateia! Help Peter!"
Phateia rocketed towards Peter as multiple soldiers tryed to capture him with electric space nets only to get blasted with his Quadblasters. The one who led them, the only female was too quick for them. Before he could react, he was suddenly tackled and they wristed in mid-air only for the Dragokren to shove her off.
"Thanks," he breathed.
"Don't thank me yet. She's coming back!" Phateia was right. The mugger came right back at her but Peter sent a blast knocking her back but not enough to take her down.
Tobey managed to get his pod towards Erzi's which was the only ship remaining. Quickly he opened the hatch. "Get out!" he ordered the children and Scylla. "Erzi! Get them out of here!"
"Dad! No!" Leok tried to sit back in with him but he closed the hatch and shot back out to aid his brother and friend.
Peter kept on fighting but one of his rocket boosters was swiped off and he couldn't control his flying properly. Hippodraken swiped many with his tail and killed them by crashing their helmets exposing them to space but he was suddenly wrangled with space whips. He brayed in pain. Peter tried to release him when he got captured in a net.
"Peter!" cried Phateia. She tried to get to him but she was blocked. The female soldier paused when the name was cried out.
Peter suddenly blasted one soldier and freed himself from the net. He saw a stunned figure floating towards him and tried to shoot her down but she dodged and dodged with fluid reactions.
Suddenly a huge blast knocked him across space and he was sent hurling in circles towards floating rocks.
"Peter!" Tobey tried to shoot down after him but he couldn't get to him at all.
Hippoflash and Phateia were captured. Erzi and the kids saw everything from the ship. "We can't blast them without hurting the others," he notified. "Kids you gotta stay…" he just turned around when he saw Leok, Sylva, Hornil and Scylla had already left the ship in suits with jetpacks.
Scylla Sylva shot the men who were about to break apart Tobey's ship. Then activating his laser-sabre, Leok cut the bindings wrangling his Hippodraken and freed him earning a lick. "Boy. Go find Uncle Peter,". Hornil shot Phateia's captors down. And she was freed too.
Peter crashed onto the floating rocks that were flat platforms, rolling about. His helmet misfunctioned and he managed to activate a space mask over his body and face. He remained bruised and limped. He saw the box containing the Light Stone had rolled away from him. He struggled to crawl forward. The spacemen closed in above him, attempting to capture him. He hoped his loved ones were safe and Phateia was too. He just managed to turn his head as he saw their net guns aimed at him. Then all of a suddenly he saw two bursts of light shooting on sight, blasting them. He knew who they were. Regaining strength, he crawled forward and grabbed the stone. He managed to stand up but when he did, the only female soldier landed before him and he aimed his Quadblaster at her.
"Wait! Wait!" she raised her hands.
"Your Master was foolish to send you all after me! He should know by now I will never give up anything he wants!"
"Peter! It's me!" cried the muffled voice behind the mask.
"Who are you? How do you know my name?"
"You really can't recognise me?" the voice sounded hurt. Peter searched his mind for memories but found no recognition of that voice. It was familiar but it sounded older, more grown, and mature. He wanted intently as her hand touched the side of her helmet and the mask deactivated revealing a tanned woman with dark eyes and braided hair. "Angie?". His hand dropped.
"It's me, Angie,"
"What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here? Where have you been? All these years?"
Peter didn't know what to say. "How did you…"
"I was taken. Same as you. Turned into this. But I swear to you, I had no idea, it was you till I heard your name,"
Before Peter could ask another question, a soldier appeared behind him and tried to capture him but Angie, a girl now a grown-up woman from his childhood pushed him down and took him out. "I won't let them hurt you,"
"Why are you working for…"
"Really? You wanna talk about that now?" She pushed him away again, taking out another soldier. Peter got her back and he saw Colin and Wendy taking the remaining few out. "Soon all the soldiers were done for and the Cosmic twins landed before him. They aimed their palms at Angie but Peter blocked them. "Stop! Stop! She's…a friend,"
"I must go," Angie's words shocked him. "He keeps track of us. If he tracks me down, he'll track you down too. I'm so sorry Peter," she shed tears and Peter could see guilt and regret. "I had no idea what he'd done to you. I just wanted to be free from him,"
"No. Come with me. The Order can…"
"The Order are your only hope. Whatever happens, stay hidden," Angie activated her suit again and she shot off across space, Peter's eyes glued to her retreating figure before she disappeared into the distance. He inhaled deeply.
"Peter…" Colin spoke up. He twisted around and saw their concerned faces. "What happened? How are you…?"
Peter held up the box with the stone. "The sacrifice was part of the test and it let me live. Now take it. Take the stone," he begged. "It's me they want,"
"Who's they?" Wendy demanded.
"Don't tell the Guardians or anyone about me. Promise me! Promise me!" he ordered imploringly.
"Peter, what is going on?" Wendy demanded. "Who were those men that tried to kidnap you? Is it why you went missing for years?"
"Just give me your word you two that you won't mention me to my sister or anyone,"
"Why?"
"It's important. For the sake of the Universe!"
"Who was that woman?"
"Something from my past on Earth. But you can't track her down. You'll be drawn into my fight with the one who sent her and it will put the Guardians in danger too. Swear that you two will never tell anyone about me,"
Colin and Wendy were silent for a while. But the desperation in his eyes sent them a clear point. Without question, the former answered: "Okay. Okay,"
"Take the stone to Earth. Now go," he said again.
"Peter…I was wrong," Colin confessed wholeheartedly. "I'm sorry I blasted your ear. And I'm sorry I killed Thanos and took it out on you when I should have spared him myself,"
"If you both want my forgiveness, JUST GO! Now!" Peter ordered.
With solemn faces, Wendy and Colin left him behind and shot right back up into space, leaving him to pant in exhaustion and he felt the wind being blown into his face by the presence of a flying space horse.
The Avengers hadn't said anything for hours. They had grieved for Natasha's death, Clint, and Hulk above all. The wolves did all they could to comfort Clint but he wouldn't talk to them. In his lab to distract himself, Tony alone had prepared the Infinity Gauntlet. It looked exactly like Thanos's except it was red and silver nano-tech and just above the cuff circumference was another stone in slot. The other stones had been placed inside the same spots as the original one; all it required now was one stone.
Tina walked inside. As her eyes were laid on the nano-gauntlet, she felt her tears glistening remembering seeing Thanos's original one with no stones inside.
"It's ready," Tony said. "And I've done a slot for the seventh one,". She didn't respond to his words with her empty face and wet eyes. "I know what you're thinking…"
She interrupted. "No. You don't. After all that's happened, everything we've been through…is it that simple that this moment was what Strange predicted? That this was the moment we'd undo everything?"
"It wasn't simple. Everything complicated thing we did, we did to get to this moment. Look…" he placed a tool down. "You're not gonna wanna hear this…but listen,". Tina shut her eyes in annoyance but wouldn't turn away from the topic as she had always done for the past five years. "Cap and I didn't talk for years because he made a big mistake which he himself acknowledged. People make mistakes and yes they should be punished. But they should also be forgiven. Once this is all done and over with, end it. End your unforgiveness for good,"
Danny and Cheryl were tinkering with their suits and gadgets to distract themselves. Footsteps entered the room. The boy's rotated to observe the figure of Nebula tampering with the time machine. Cheryl wiped her face and then frowned at her brother's strange behaviour. "Why are you looking at her like that?"
"There's something about her. She's acting really, really strange,"
His voice was too loud. Nebula glared over at him and wandered off.
The last and surviving ship landed on a giant rock platform to recover. Everyone inside tended to injuries sustained during the crash whilst Hornil was calling for aid. "Peter? Do you both copy?" Tobey called, walking around in circles still in his space suit. "Nothing,"
"He has to be okay," Sylva prayed.
Leok held her hand. But his ears flickered to the echoes of neighing. "Look!" his tail waggled in delight as he glimpsed at the mightiness of his new friend's mighty wings. Hippoflash flapped his wings and landed gracefully before them. A limping Peter fell off his back only for his brother and Erzi to catch him. "Dad!" Sylva stumbled to him.
Leok cupped the Hippodraken's snout. "Thank you,"
It was no problem. Hippoflash assured him.
"He truly is a magnificent flier," Peter complimented as his brother and friend helped him stand. They all went into the ship and deactivated their suits. "Were there any casualties?"
"None. We managed to take the rest of them out. But I'm afraid there may be more on its way,"
Peter sighed. He looked pale. "Dad…what is it?" Sylva knelt before him. "What is wrong? Did you see something?" He was wordless.
"Wait? Where's the stone box?" Hornil asked.
This was a question he couldn't refuse to answer. "I gave it to Colin and his twin Wendy,"
"What?" Sylva breathed.
"They saved my life. And I told them not to tell the Avengers or Guardians about me. We can't go to Earth, Tobes,"
Tobey wouldn't have it. "But you said it so yourself, we should try and make amends with our sister and Rocket?"
"And what about the promise you made to Grandma?" Sylva reminded.
"Those ships…those men were after me. They were hunting me. I cannot go to Earth. I will put everyone in danger. And they will use me to get to Rocket,"
"Peter, you just risked your life getting that stone so you could redeem yourself for your mistakes even though you didn't need to. They deserve to know," Erzi tried to reason.
"It's no good if I lead more of those men to Earth,"
"Peter, we have both spent too long running from our mistakes, from loved ones we still care about," Tobey reminded. "And if you don't try to talk to Tina, you'd be dishonouring your mother's memory. And Scylla and I…we've missed Rocket for years. No matter how much a part of myself hates him for abandoning us, I have always kept telling myself that our friends would have wanted us to make amends. We spend so much of our lives running what should be important until it's too late to truly realise that,"
Peter took a moment to consider for a while. "We'll go decide to speak to them or not,"
"Erzi, tell Harvie to send ships to every corner of this galaxy. Make sure no enemy ships approach Earth,"
"You got it, cap," he saluted. "We'll wait here for a ship whilst you guys take this one to Earth,"
Steve, Jesse, Clint and Una were outside getting fresh air. After losing Natasha, a dear freind like that...they had wanted silence.
"I am so sorry for your loss Clint," Jesse consoled. "I know you both were really close,". He sniffled. "You musn't blame yourself,"
"That's not how it feels. And now I'll have to live with the consequences,"
"Don't give into that," Una implored. "Don't let it break your spirit. I've lost so many loved ones but I always found the strength to keep on going with everyone I still had. And you can too once everyone comes back including your family,"
"That'll only happen if we get that light stone. Or if it even works,"
Two bright golden flashes appeared in the sky and it could mean only one thing. Wendy and Colin descended gracefully towards the gazebo and landed before their friends. They were not expecting to see wet faces. "What has happened?" Wendy asked.
"Natasha,". That was all Steve needed to say.
Colin patted her shoulder. "We're so sorry,". They took a moment to grieve for her loss to comfort everyone.
"She made her choice," Clint sniffled. "And now we have to make sure it wasn't for nothing,"
"It won't be," Colin pulled out the Light Stone; the white glow drew their eyes. It meant they had succeeded and they could make it all worth it.
"Where are the Nameless Order?" Steve asked.
Colin struggled to think of a good answer. So did Wendy. They had made a promise and if it was that serious, they had to keep it. "They…gave me a head start," Una, however, sensed he was only partially telling the truth; she had to find out what it was. "But the Light Stone is here as they promised. After everything they did and all the risks they took to get it, I truly believe what they told us was the truth. This click won't bring billions alive again, without it,"
The Order's ship approached Earth. Tobey pressed buttons and the ship became see-through, invisible to all sensors. It descended slowly upon North America towards New Jersey. Peter's eyes were glued to the facility with the big A. "Never thought I'd be back here," He was already picturing the last time he ever spoke to his former teammates but the memory of his mother and his promise to her blew that dark thought away. "Land over there,". He pointed to a large, forested cliff area a short distance away so they wouldn't draw attention. Tobey carefully landed the ship and they all dismounted, staring at the compound only one mile away. "And now we wait,". Everyone sat down, staring into the distance at the Avengers compound.
The Light Stone was gently inserted into the final slot on the Nano-Gauntlet. "It's ready," Rocket said. "Question is, who's gonna snap their fricking fingers?"
"I will," Una spoke up.
"Absolutely not," Steve approved. "It's way too powerful. Even for you,"
"Let's discuss this," George said. "We don't know what effects it will have on any of us. This is so much energy, so much strain…"
"He's right," Hulk spoke up. "We all saw what it did to Thanos. It almost killed him. Which is why it should be me,"
"No. It's gonna be me," Wendy said.
"No," Tina raised her hand at her.
"Our parents' powers came from energy produced by the Tesseract," Wendy clarified on behalf of herself and her twin. "And we inherited our powers from them. If anyone can withstand it, it's me or him,"
"Then let me do it," Colin implored.
"No. It will be me," Hulk approached the glove. "The radiation is mostly gamma. It's like…I was made for this. I was exposed to gamma. I'm the only one who had the highest chance of surviving this,"
During the soft arguing, Danny eyed Nebula walking off. Making sure no one was looking he followed her. HE watched her sneak into the giant hallway towards the time machine and saw her unravel bindings around what was supposed to by her cyber arm. Only it wasn't a cyber arm. It was a blue one. Both arms were blue. His eyes enlarged. He watched her tampering with the machine.
Peter and his family still outside were very silent. "How long is this going to take?!" Leok roared out. Smack! "Ow!"
Sylva for a young pre-teen had such strong hands. "You wanna let them know we're here?" The only response was snarling much to the irritation of their fathers and surrogate aunt.
"Kids..." Tobey hissed. "It'll take as long as it needs,"
Peter looked catatonic as his eyes were glued to his line of vision. His daughter felt the need to speak to break him out of it. "Dad, I know you don't wanna talk about this…but why didn't you ever think of returning to Earth before you became co-leader of the Guardians?"
He blinked. His neck twisted and he could see Sylva's question had sparked up everyone's attention too. Gamora had always asked him that question before but he could never answer it. Now that it had been asked again, even he couldn't find the right words. "I…I wanted to, the moment…your aunt and I were taken by Ravangers. We tried so many times to escape but they wouldn't let us leave. They always threatened to eat us if we did,"
"Even Grandpa Yondu and your uncle Warren?" questioned his flabbergasted daughter.
"They didn't actually mean it but…I guess they wanted us to be kept under their watch so Ego wouldn't get his hands on us," he shared a grim look with Tobey. "But when we were grown-up and we started stealing with them…we grew accustomed to their way of life. Earth was no longer our home. Space was. And with everyone thinking we were dead, what's the point in returning? We'd never be able to live here after being raised by a clan of smugglers and thieves. We'd never fit in,"
"Surely you must have had a family you wanted to return to," Scylla reasoned.
"It was just my grandpa Jason Quill that I had but…he was a pretty hard guy,"
"What do you mean 'pretty hard guy'?" asked Leok.
"Well, he wasn't always the most social person. Then when my mother got cancer and she went under so much treatment with no improvement, he just…became distant from us. Every week it got worse and worse and we began to feel more alone than ever. Then when my mum died, he screamed in our faces and pushed us out of the room. Then he just left us there. Alone. We waited a long while but…he never came back out to comfort us. No one did. So, we ran out to cry," Sylva leaned her head against his shoulder which he deeply appreciated.
"But how could he do that? How could he just leave you both like that?" Leok was beyond outraged at how his adoptive uncle and aunt whom he had never met had been abandoned like that by someone who was supposed to comfort them.
Peter wiped his eyes. "It doesn't matter. It was a long time ago. I grew attached to living away from Earth. I felt my purpose was to be in space and then to be a Guardian. And now it's being with all of you,". He exchanged a heartfelt smile with them but he frowned when he saw Sylva's eyebrows hinting another question to be asked. Before it could leave her moth, Tobey's tab bleeped and he held it up for all their eyes to watch. They saw Hulk holding the gauntlet. He was gonna be the one to use the Stones. Peter bit his lip, hoping this wouldn't kill him. His stomach twisted seeing everyone else in there.
"Remember…you're bringing back everyone Thanos killed five years ago," Tony reminded.
"Let's suit up. We have no idea what could happen," Colin formed a forcefield around himself, Tina, and Orlins. Wendy, the same with Jesse and Rocket. Scott and George suited up. Steve held up his shield.
Tony activated his suit and shielded Clint, Una, the wolves, and Cheryl. "Friday. Activate lockdown!" he contacted their artificial intelligence. The windows were sealed tightly and the entire room including the roof was engaged by metal shutters, dimming the atmosphere.
Hulk inhaled deeply. This was gonna be so dangerous. "Everybody comes home,". The nano-gauntlet enlarged and his giant green fingers slipped right into the slots and blar!. The stones sizzled. Electricity coursed up his arm. His skin burned.
The 2014 Nebula had almost finished activating the machine when…"Stop!". She twisted around and saw Danny's gadget aimed at her.
"You really don't wanna do this kid,"
"Whoever you are…you're not the real Nebula. So unless you want this baby of mine to send a good sizzle into your robotic parts, you tell me where our friend is,"
Nebula chuckled. "She's back. And you're not gonna sting me with that,". He pulled the trigger. "Because I deactivated your weapons when I knew you were onto me. Sorry kid," Before Danny could react, he was electrocuted in the stomach and his body slammed to the floor. She sniggered. "Terrans,"
Hulk struggled to stand. "Bruce! Bruce! Are you okay?!" Steve cried out.
"Take it off!" Una begged. "Take it off!"
Hulk tried to stand but the power of the seven Infinity Stones weighed him down. "It's killing you!" Jesse cried out. "I'm taking it off!" He tried to step towards Hulk but Rocket grabbed his hand.
"No! You can't touch him!"
"I can do this!" roared Hulk. He managed to restrain himself. Holding his scorching hand upwards with his free hand's support, he managed to clink his gloved thumb and index finger and…snap! Slam! Hulk fell to the floor, eyes shut tight, his body weak. The burnt gauntlet slipped off. Clint kicked it away.
"Bruce!" Steve knelt beside him. Tony sprayed his burnt arm with antiseptic.
"Is he okay?" Cheryl felt sick.
Jesse clasped her shoulder and turned her away. "Don't look,"
Wendy knelt behind his head and touched his head. "Easy. I can feel the energy straining him. I might be able to help him,". Energy travelled from her fingertips into his body and his breathing slowed. "He'll be okay,"
"Did it work?" Tina's heart pounded with the thought of seeing Mantis again. Rocket thought the same thing as well with Meredith.
The doors opened again, allowing light back inside. Tweets were the first sound they heard. Scott and George walked to the window seeing sparrows perching on trees. Then ringing vibrated Clint's ears from the table. He saw his wife's picture on his phone. With a trembling heart, he picked it up and pressed it to his phone. "Honey?". The voice of his wife elevated his heart. The wolves clasped his shoulder overjoyed for him.
"We did it," Jesse breathed in relief. "They're back! Everyone's back!"
"We did it,". Cheryl heard dialling from her pocket and heard her phone too. "Mum? Dad?" she pressed it to her ear.
"Cheryl…where are you?" her father's voice called through. "Your grandma and grandpa say you're in New York,"
"Oh Dad," she burst out sobbing. "It's you! You and Mum! You're here!"
Jesse offered his arms and she hugged him tightly. "Wait? Where's Danny?".
Cheryl suddenly noticed her brother was missing. "Danny?" she couldn't believe she hadn't noticed her brother disappearing.
"Cheryl?" it was her mother's voice through the phone. "Is your brother alright?"
"Can't talk now. Gotta go," Cheryl regrettably pressed the red button. Quickly she dashed out of the room and Jesse chased after her.
Outside, the Order's breathed relievedly as they heard the news. It had worked. Their work had paid off. Leok ululated out to the wind with joy. Then he pulled Sylva up and they jumped about in circles. Then their fathers stood with gleeful smiles and embraced them with Scylla as well. "We did it," Tobey breathed. Ding. Ding. His communication band rang. He pressed it and the image of Derang appeared. He breathed relievedly.
Peter and Sylva smiled as they saw Leok and his father talk joyfully to the man who was Tobey's true dad. Peter pursed his lips as he wished he could be doing the same with Yondu. He and his daughter continued watching the Avengers and Guardians.
Tina heard beeping from her side com. She pressed the side button in her ear and said: "Hello?"
"Tina…are you there?" It was Mantis.
"Yes. It's me," she breathed, shedding tears. "Are you…are you there?"
"Yes. Me, Drax, Meredith…" Rocket's eyes glistened with joy. "But Peter isn't here with us. Where are you guys?"
"We're on Earth and Peter…" she breathed off.
"Where is he?"
She couldn't speak. She didn't know what to say. Una stood up and marched upon Colin and Wendy. "What's going on?" Steve saw a serious expression on her face.
"What aren't you two telling us?" Una demanded.
"What is this?" Scott asked, alarming Clint and everyone else.
"You're hiding something," Una crossed her arms.
"Una…" Tony tried to speak.
"Whatever it is you're both not telling us, you need to," she demanded.
The Cosmic twins cursed themselves for acting so reserved. "We can't say because we promised to tell no one," Colin vented.
Una unfortunately was too smart. "You're talking about Peter aren't you," Colin huffed. And Wendy smacked his forearm, glowering at him darkly. "Whatever you both know about him, you have to tell us,". Her words drew Tina, Orlins and Rocket to listen as well. Their resentment was waning. "Did he give you the stone?"
Peter's heart clenched. "No. No," he whispered. They had to keep their promise. He completely pushed his promise out of his mind, letting fear cloud his judgment.
"We gave him our word we wouldn't mention anything about him," Wendy said.
"Please!" For the first time in five years, Tina begged for information about her brother. After all that had happened and now Strange's prophecy had come true, she was no longer clinging to what had passed.
Colin saw the desperation in her eyes much like her brother's but for different reasons.
"Don't," Wendy warned him. "We gave him our word,"
"They have a right to know. Peter is with the Nameless Order," he informed everyone. Now they knew exactly how the Order knew Strange's prophecy and what they needed to do. "He was the one who retrieved the Light Stone. He laid down his life for it. But it allowed him to live in exchange,"
Tina and Rocket were pale with shock. Orlins was proud. Una was proud too. Everyone still inside was stunned. "He saved the universe. The stone is here and everyone is now back. Because of him," All her anger transformed into joy and pride for him.
Peter's heart trembled as he saw how proud she was of him. The others too. Maybe Tobey was right. He should keep his promise and try to talk to her. But the more he longed to, the more he remembered why he endured so much torture for months. His mind battle faltered as he saw heartbreak playing.
"All these years I resented him; I wasn't there for him like he was always there for me. We were supposed to take care of each other. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't want to talk to me ever again. It makes sense that he didn't come here himself," she slumped on a step and buried her face into her hand, rubbing her wet eyes.
"It's not too late," Orlins comforted, patting her shoulder. "We can all make amends. We just have to find the Order,"
Against her better nature, Wendy chose to speak up the truth as well. "I know you don't wanna hear this Tina…but when we found him he was under attack,"
"Danny!" Cheryl cried out. Just when she and Jesse entered the time-travel room, she gasped seeing her brother lying limp on the floor. "Danny!" she slid to her knees.
Jesse saw Nebula. "Halt!" he ordered. "What are you doing?"
Danny's eyes flickered. "She's not the real one," he mumbled as his frantic sister held him up.
Jesse twisted his head but by the time he focused back on Nebula, it was too late. Zap! Zap! Zap!
Peter heard blasting on the screen and swiped it over. He saw the fake Nebula. And Jesse and the two teens down. "Guys…we got a problem,"
Tobey shut Derang off and took the tablet. He zoomed in on Nebula and saw her inserting a year: 2014. "It's not the real Nebula. She's opening a time portal,"
"Guys!" Scylla pointed upwards and they saw a flash of blue and from it appeared a mighty ship.
"Oh no,". Without thinking twice, Peter pressed the com in his ear. "Tina! Do you copy? Can anyone hear me?"
Inside the room, the tearful Tina stood up abruptly to Wendy's words. "What do you mean he was under attack?"
Before Wendy could answer, Peter's voice echoed from her com. "Hello? Does anybody copy?" Orlins and Rocket exchanged heartfelt faces. Una sighed in relief. He was alright. And he was here.
Quickly Tina pressed the com button. "Pete?" her heart exploded with joy.
"Tina, you need to get out of here now!" he screamed. But it was too late.
The ship shot three powerful blast at the compound. Boom! Crash! Boom!
I hope you all enjoyed it. Please let me know what you all thought. Once again I apologise for all the waiting. I hope this makes up for it. So Peter feels like he'll put the Guardians in danger if he sees them. Because he is being hunted by the space soldier sent by the High Evolutionary who needs him to claim Rocket. And what did you guys think of everyone reacting to learning that it was Peter who claimed the stone? And now Tina's so proud of him and feels so regretful for blaming him before. The next chapter should be up later this week or so. See you all later.
