You´re sure it´s love?
Chapter 2
"You can't be helped, Angela! You know it's going to ruin our family, but good. It's out of my hands!" offended Mona leaves the kitchen again. She goes into the living room and takes her scarf off the coat rack and leaves the house. Angela hears the door slam. She sits petrified in her chair. ... What should I do? I love Tony, but I don't want to get in the way of his happiness...
Sam comes into the kitchen, "good morning Angela," she says and sits down at the kitchen table.
She looks at Angela, "Are you all right, Angela?"
Angela is snapped out of her thoughts. "Oh hi Sam... yes. Yes, of course, everything is fine."
"Where's Dad?" she looks around questioningly.
"Oh, your father had to leave early. I'm sure you're hungry, I'll make you breakfast, what would you like to eat?"
Sam raises his eyebrows and frowns, "Angela, you and make breakfast? Uh..."
"All right, all right. Would you like cereal or toast?"
Sam smiles "I'll take the cereal"
"Ok" Angela gives her a smile.
Angela puts the bowl in front of Sam and fills her with the cereal. "Here you go". Sam quickly gets the milk from the fridge and a spoonful from the drawer and sits down again.
Suddenly, the door opens, Jonathan storms in. "Hey Mum, have you seen my light blue shirt? I desperately need it, I have a lecture at school and that's my lucky gem, without it I can't do it!" "Then go half-naked," Sam laughs, waving the spoon back and forth. "Hahaha very funny! So Mom, will you help me find it, please?" "Yes, Jonathan, I'll come right away," Angela says hurriedly.
Sam quickly eats her cereal, gets up from the table in time and puts her empty bowl in the sink. "Thank you Angela, I have to go now".
Angela turns to Sam, looks confused, and says goodbye.
Then she goes upstairs to his room with Jonathan and finds the shirt hanging in his closet in the far corner.
„ Cool thank you Mum".
"You´r welcome" she strokes him on the head and then goes to her room to freshen up for work.
A little later she is at the agency and has to work until the evening. At 8 p.m. she is home. She stands at her front door, looking for her key in her purse. Then she hears a loud laugh from the living room. She narrows her eyes and leans one ear against the front door so she can hear better. Tony speaks loudly and laughs. And a woman can also be heard...
Angela presses her face against the door even more, then she doesn't hear anything anymore and suddenly Tony opens the door for her from the inside. Angela stumbles in and almost falls, Tony can just hold her hand so that she doesn't fall on her face.
"Angela, hey!" he says, laughing loudly.
"Oh hi... um, yes. Tony." She turns red. She stands upright and pulls away from Tony.
"I didn't find my key, excuse me..."
"No problem Angela" he says with a grin, "Angela, you still know Frankie".
Frankie gets up from the couch and walks over to Angela, she shakes her hand in greeting.
"Hi Angela," she says politely.
"Frankie" Angela tries to squeeze a smile out of it.
"We're discussing how we're going to tell Sam and planning the wedding" Tony takes Frankie's hand and smiles softly at her. For Angela, this moment is like a knife stab in the heart. She looks back and forth between Tony and Frankie in amazement. But then it catches itself again.
"Angela, it would be great if you could be part of the conversation," Tony says, moving closer to her.
"What conversation?" she asks.
Tony looks at Frankie, Frankie also takes a step towards Angela. She smiles and says, "Well, Sam doesn't know about Tony and I getting married yet. It's a new life for her and you were already something like a surrogate mother for her, at least for a while. I'll take over that soon. Oh, I think Sam and I are going to get along really well."
Angela frowns. She looks at Tony, "And then why do you need me?" She twists her arms in front of her, "Excuse me, but I still have work to do," then she walks towards the office.
Tony and Frankie look after her.
In the office room, Angela sits down in her chair. ... This is an absolute nightmare... She thinks, resting her elbows on the desk.
Then there is a quick knock on the door and Tony walks in.
"Angela? Excuse me..." He walks up to her. But Angela stops him.
"Tony, no, I really still have work to do. You don't need me! You can do it wonderfully on your own..." she says. You can tell she's dismayed.
Tony walks up to her. He doesn't care that she stoped him.
He grabs a wooden chair from the corner and sits down next to her. "Angela, what's the matter? I feel like you've got something?"
Angela looks at him, waits for a moment and then says to him "Tony, no, it's nothing... I just think it's all happening so fast. Don't you think? I mean, you just saw each other again recently, and all of a sudden she's proposing to you. How long have you not seen each other in between? And now it's like you've been together for years and suddenly she wants to marry you. Don't you want to wait a little longer, Tony? And what if Sam doesn't want to go back?"
Tony takes Angela's hand and looks her in the eye. "Angela, that's exactly why we need you, you can explain to Sam that a family is important and that nothing will change... She can visit you at any time..." Angela thinks she's misheard. Did Tony even listen to her? She withdraws her hand from him. "Sorry Tony, you can do that on your own, it's your life now and I'm out of it! And now I have something else to do here!" She turns away from him and pulls out a drawer of files, then takes out a file and places it on the table. She puts on her big glasses and flips through the file, trying to ignore Tony as much as possible.
Tony stands there like an abandoned child and only now realizes that Angela is offended. But he thinks it's because of Sam and not because of him. Then Tony turns around and leaves the office.
Frankie, who is sitting on the couch again, walks up to him and gives him a kiss on his cheek. „Everything ok?"
"Of course," he replies. But he knows that nothing is ok right now.
A little later, Angela is still sitting in the office, when Angela hears the front door open.
Tony and Frankie went to Frankie´s house. Angela goes into the living room. She would have loved to talk to Tony more, but that will hardly be possible soon.
The next day
Angela got up early. She stands in the kitchen and makes herself a coffee, the house is quiet.
She thinks about yesterday and how Tony asked her to talk to Sam. How would Sam react if she found out about the marriage? She has a new lifestyle here and made new friends. To snatch them away from it would be fatal. I wonder if Tony doesn't care?
About half an hour later Sam comes into the kitchen, she looks very sleepy. "Hey little one, everything alright?" Angela asks, walking over to Sam. Sam looks at her with tired eyes and yawns "yes...I just had a stupid dream... The fact that we have to leave here, I don't know why and I had to leave all my friends, that was really mean!". Sam sits down at the table and props her head up.
"Oh Sam, I believe you, it's always hard. Imagine if it were really like that..." Angela looks at her curiously to see how Sam reacts.
"Oh my god Angela, that would be terrible! Somewhere without my clique, no no no. Without me! But thank God it was just a dream." She runs her hand over her forehead, "Phew!"
"Yes..." Angela smiles slightly, "Thank God what.." Sam nods. "Are you hungry?" Angela asks motherly Sam looks around and narrows his eyes slightly, "Where's Dad?"
Angela's gaze becomes more serious "not here..."
"Ok..." Sam has the question mark written all over her face. "But doesn't he have to work today?"
"Yes," now you can hear a subliminal tone from Angela, who seems a little angry.
She places a bowl of cornflakes and milk in front of Sam and slices a banana for her.
Sam smiles gratefully at her. Then Jonathan comes into the kitchen, but he doesn't seem to be so tired and sits down at the table. He also gets his bowl of cornflakes, milk and a banana.
"Enjoy it," Angela says, smiling at both children.
When the children have eaten, they get ready for school, say goodbye to Angela and leave the house. Angela goes back to the kitchen and puts away the dishes... That's not my fucking job... She's boiling with rage.
Then she hears the front door falling. She drops everything, stands at the kitchen counter and twists her arms in front of her. Tony comes rushing into the kitchen.
Angela looks at him with a tense look. Tony notices this immediately. "Oh Angela, hey... I am sorry. It all took a little longer and Frankie..." She interrupts him.
"Took longer? Oh? Tony, you've got a job to do here! It's not MY job to make the children some food and put away the dishes and be late for the agency!" Angela is really angry.
Tony blushes slightly. He lowers his head slightly, thinking, "I'm sorry Angela.."
"Tony, I feel like you don't need this job anymore and you don't need this family anymore!" She turns away from him.
"Hey oh oh he, Angela! How can you say such a thing?" He shakes his head in disbelief and walks over to her. He takes her by the upper arms and turns her around to face him. Then he notices that she has tears in her eyes. "hey Angela..." He says softly and takes her in his arms without wasting any more words.
Angela pulls herself together so that the tears don't flow down his shirt like a waterfall and quickly wipes her hand over her face. Then she pulls away from him again. "Tony... you are so important to us... you are important to Jonathan... and you are very important to me! It's all going to be different soon, it's not easy for me to say that, but..."
He looks at her, slightly frightened, "what to say...?
"Maybe you should quit. You can't live and work with Frankie, especially because of Sam. That would be weird, it would mess everything up! We are a family... we were a family. Now you'll have a new one soon. You don't need us anymore."
The words are deeply etched in Tony's mind, it hurts him immensely to hear something like that from Angela. What a great Christmas they had celebrated. How did he support her with her own agency... he was always there for her and Jonathan and now she tells him that he doesn't need them anymore... What did he do wrong? He doesn't understand the world anymore!
"Ok Angela, listen. I understand you're, but I need the job. For Sam and everything!"
"Tony, no. Frankie earns a lot and it would be better if you look for something where you don't have to drive for miles, for laundry, dishes and everything. What for?"
Tony is not yet aware of what it means when he marries Frankie, how much he has to give up.
He takes Angela by the hand. They look at each other. And Angela can't hold on to herself anymore at this moment. The tears flow down the cheek. She lowers her gaze.
"I'm sorry Tony...but I don't want to lose you.." she says with a soft, cautious voice.
"Angela, I don't want to lose you either. And you won't lose me. I'll work here until I find something new, ok? Is that a compromise?"
He still hasn't quite figured it out. That she loves him. If he marries Frankie, she'll lose him forever! Why is it so difficult to understand?
