"OOF!"- Evan landed in the comforting embrace of solid ground. That could've gone better. Gasping, He desperately tried to force air back into his bruised lungs. Dang, this sucks. Finally forcing air into his chest, he hacked into the dirt before, slowly stumbling to his feet.
He looked around, "Huh, fascinating," Evan muttered to himself. The rock above him was smooth and polished as if carved, then blasted smooth. Could some sort of drill, or lava flow have made this? Looking down he noticed that the ground was covered in what looked like a mixture of sand, and… he bent, picking up a handful he let the grains fall through his fingers. Disintegrated rock? He thought puzzled. Whatever it was it definitely helped with the fall. He was grateful that other than losing his wind he had no other major injuries.
Wait...
"This place looks familiar," he muttered to himself. Squinting in the faint light., LIGHT! I must be in some sort of tunnel or cave. Jogging forward, he began to move towards the end of the tunnel.
A chill crept up his spine as he walked, hairs standing up on the back of his neck as he glanced upward. The stalagmites loomed overhead. He felt like he was being watched. Skin crawling, Evan started feeling increasingly uncomfortable. He glanced over his shoulder nervously, trying to move faster.
he gazed into the darkness, The gaping void leering at him. "Yeah, I'm just gonna-" Evan sucked in his breath as a lizard shot out, scurrying down the dimly lit tunnel.
Achievement unlocked: Heart Attack!
"I hate the freaking dark," he clutched his chest, Forcing himself to calm down. He turned, half walking sprinting towards the light. He tripped, bashing his head on a jutting stone. Blood leaked into his eye. "OW''. He clutched his face, his eye stinging. looking back his face went pale, as he saw the massive clawed footprints in the ground, leading out of the tunnel." Well, at least I know what tripped me… 'he said uneasily.
He grimaced, the blood was beginning to slow down. Hopefully, it won't get infected. He glanced at the footprints. Although I have the feeling that's the least concerning problem I have right now.
Evan emerged from the tunnel, holding up a hand to shield himself in the blinding light, the sun beat down on him in waves. Eyes adjusting he looked around. His mouth was already dry, sapped of moisture from the overwhelming heat. He spun around searching bewildered at the vast desert around him.
"Ok...HOW THE HELL DID I GET HERE!?" Evan screamed, panicked. This isn't possible. He spun around looking for any sort of landmark or life. In The distance, he spotted a Stronghold palace jutting out over the endless dunes. He stopped, jaw dropping to the sand. That's not possible, he repeated. He knew that castle, he had seen it time and time again…
"THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE! I CAN'T'... I CAN'T BE HERE!" He screamed He was hyperventilating. Pinching his side, Evan tried to anchor himself, he needed to calm down.
"It's fine, everything is fine, you're just probably dreaming," Evan told himself. Taking some deep breaths he started to reset, to come back to himself, it's just a dream, just a dream. Phew! He exhaled.
But…
You can't feel pain in a dream. His mind whispered back, blood dripped down his face as if to emphasize the point. He growled, wiping the blood off his face. Maybe a coma? He thought frustrated because there's no way I'm…
He looked back at the stronghold. "Here," he said. His mouth somehow felt dryer as he looked around.
Looking back, He noted the forest in the distance behind him. Which means…
Glancing back at the tunnel his heart sank as he saw the cactus ring surrounding the tunnel. He sat down hard head growing foggy. I-I can't be here… but he was here, and everything he saw further pointed at the fact that-
-There is no way that I'm in the Wings of Fire Universe!" Evan yelled, vehemently denying the thought.
As if on cue, a scorpion-like dragon sailed directly above him. The dragon had pale yellow scales blending easily with the sand around him. With slightly darker shading around the edges of his wings and spine. The beast's claws were about as long as Evan's forearm, with what looked like yellow dust stains on his claw tips, and to top it off, The beautiful beast had a long tail with a pointy barb on the end.
He dove towards the tunnel entrance, did it see me? He poked his head back, Eyes scanning the sky for the sandwing. It was gone. How is it that fast?
He stayed in the entrance not wanting to risk becoming a snack for another passing dragon.
" I Can't, I Can't, I Can't, I Can't" he chanted quietly, still staring around for any dragons. Dragons! Even though it was impossible, the sandwing that flew above him was… beautiful. Slumping back he took a deep breath, and he accepted that in some way SOMEHOW. He had been transported to the Wings of Fire Universe.
He closed his eyes, head throbbing with pain, Well if I'm stuck here then I need to find someone I can trust. He thought dejectedly. That only leaves around a handful of dragons who won't eat me on Sight.
The DOD
The Jade Winglet
And The Arc Three Dragonets
He quickly dismissed the Arc Three Dragons Even if I can find Snowfall she's in the Icewing kingdom and the others are even further away. Which left him with Two more Options The DOD and The Jade Winglet. Both of which are at Jade Mountain...
Wait
There was one person that could probably help him. . .
GLORY. He jumped to his feet. Glory Queen of The Nightwings and Rainwings…
Even if she couldn't help him herself, she could probably help with getting to Jade Mountain. She was located in the Rainforest, and lucky for him. He was standing in the tunnel straight to it. He smiled slightly, feeling a little hopeful. I'll have to avoid some … well most Nightwings. He relented. Nightwings would doubtlessly eat him if they caught him. He had to be careful to reach Glory or some other rainwing who wouldn't eat him. "Maybe I could convince a rainwing that I'm a pet." He muttered
He looked back into the Dark tunnel, Its gaping maw seeming to swallow the light around it. It just felt so…wrong. Like a space that shouldn't exist. He echoed remembering how Glory felt about the tunnel. Gathering his courage he took a deep breath. Before sprinting into the waiting darkness.
