Vicarious Valentines Ch. 2: Shoto and Momo
"Okay, not how I imaged today would go," Izuku said as he clutched Jiro tightly in his arms, the world almost moving in slow motion after he took his daring leap to escape Mina's wrath.
"Same honestly," Jiro replied as she looked over his shoulder at the shouting alien queen.
"Mina can be really scary when she want's to be…"
"Let's just consider ourselves lucky that she decided to use her acid on the door, rather us."
"Oh man I didn't even think about that."
"Yep, don't worry about it though, it's not the worse thing you didn't take into account today."
"R-Right, wait, what's the other thing?"
"…"
"Kyo?"
"Izu…"
"Yes?"
"Baby."
"Mhm?"
"We're falling."
"Oh…right," as if on que the two rapidly descended straight down, clutching each other tight enough to almost make each other pop, screaming as they awaited the end.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Oh shit," Mina yelled as she ran to the edge of the balcony, looking over the railing and sweating at the fact that both her friends would soon be a stain on the clean cut grass, seeing Midoriya maneuver so that he would take the brunt of the impact.
'What do I do, what do I do!? Black whip cant wrap around the balcony tight enough and even then I may pull Ashido over to, and using One for All at higher percentages could hurt Kyoka, crap crap crap crap, what do I do?"
"…*Sigh*…I leave you alone for five minutes."
'Actually it was more like three- wait Nana?!'
"In the non-existent ghost flesh."
'Great, maybe you can help me out of this situation.'
"I can, just hold that thought real quick."
'What do you mean?!'
"Well, you know how you were falling?"
'Y-yes?'
"And you know how you most certainly would've become a green haired pancake?"
'Uh huh?'
"Look down kiddo."
Izuku opened his eyes slowly, seeing the sunsetting sky overhead, splashed with colors of orange and violet across the clouds, stars soon peering out as the moon became more and more visible. What surprised him at the present moment was how still everything was, the shy couples descent having completely halted, confused, he did as he was asked and looked down below, seeing that they were only an inch or so above the ground.
'WHAT IN THE WORLD!?'
"Yep."
'HOW IS THIS EVEN-oh yeah right, your quirk is 'Float' heh.'
"Glad to see you remembered, and that you didn't got SPLAT! But I felt like that was obvious."
'R-Right, thanks again.'
"You're good, just don't lose focus or-"
'Hm,' Deku wondered, right before his back plopped against the ground, him and Jiro letting out a sharp, "Ompf!"
"Or you'll fall down…my bad."
'It's fine, at least the blood is INSIDE my body.'
"Can't argue with that."
'Neither can I, you're a lifesaver.'
"Consider it my V Day present, now I'd focus more on her than me right now."
'Right, thank you Nana!'
"Just remember, that's two you owe me junior."
'I-I will!'
"Izuku! Izuku," Kyoka frantically screamed as she raised her head to look over him, "Say something! Are you alright?!"
"U-Uh yeah I'm fine."
"Are you sure!? Nothing broken!?"
"No, nothing broken."
"Make sure okay, you could just be used to it!"
"Kyoka."
"Make sure!"
"Kyoka."
"What!?"
"I'm alright okay, I'm more worried if you're alright."
"D-...Dude I'm fine, how could I not be when you took the impact?"
"You never know, I just wanted to be sure."
"In that case, y-yeah I'm fine."
"Glad to hear it," Izuku kissed her cheek, calming her nerves after their near encounter with death or permanent injury, as Mina fell back and sighed in relief, happy to not have to plan UA's first funeral.
However, she soon came up with a devious idea.
"Sorry I didn't think about it before jumping," Midoriya stood up, extending his hand to Jiro to help her get back on her feet.
"Oh hey don't worry about it, not the first time I almost died, won't be the last."
"You make it sound so casual..."
"After the past year how could I not be used to it, plus I know you'll be there to protect me."
"K-K-Kyoka come on, you're embarrassing me."
"Part of the job," Jiro hugged him again, before taking his hand, "Now, let's get outta here and-"
"CATCH MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
"Huh," the shy couple looked up in surprise, the pink girl's scream getting closer as she decided to jump off the balcony tears leaking out of her eyes in pure terror, "MINA!"
"ASHIDO," Midoriya immediately swung into action, streaks of green lightning swarming his body, 'One for All: Full Cowling! Ten percent!'
Quickly he jumped toward the wall of the building, kicking off the side and pushing his momentum upward, grabbing hold of Ashido a few feet before she hit the ground, the pink girl panting frantically.
"Oh my god, oh my god, thank you Midoriya, that was a close one," she said, wiping the acidic sweat off of her forehead as they touched down, "I owe you big time!"
"It's alright, I'm just glad you're safe."
"Jesus! what were you thinking," Jiro shouted as walked up to them, "You almost died and nearly gave us a heart attack!"
"What? I slipped."
"You slipped?"
"Mhm, I slipped."
"On what!?"
"A bottle of All Might shampoo that fell on the floor."
"That's…" Jiro looked over to her boyfriend, the boy blushing as he couldn't deny that he had that, "Highly likely."
"S-sorry."
"Nah it's cool Midori," Mina gave him a smile and a thumbs up, "You saved my life, AND helped me out a huge amount!"
"I-I would say so, unless you like having broken ankles."
"Not what I meant."
"Then what did you mean," Jiro asked as Midoriya put Mina down, allowing her to stand upright.
"Welp! Simply put," Ashido pulled out her phone once more, smiling devilishly, "I knew Midori would catch me, and I knew that you'd escape if I took the elevator down, so I took the express way."
"…"
"…"
"Heheheheh."
"Mina, you are insane," Jiro said as a beam of sweat went down her forehead.
"You know what they say, REVENGE WILL DO THAT TO YA!"
*Click* *Click* *Click* *Click* *Click* *Click* *Click*
"Let's get out of here."
"Don't need to tell me twice," Midoriya said as he scoop up his love, lowering One for All to five percent to gain some distance.
"GET BACK HERE YOU LOVEBIRDS," Ashido shouted as she chased after them.
"I never thought she would be this persistent," Deku mumbled as they looked back at her.
"She's a gossip hound, you'd have an easier time escaping the police."
"Somehow I doubt that."
"Its called hyperbole Izu."
"Oh right, that thing that has alluded me for so long."
"God, how are you this cute?"
"Wh-what are you talking about? You're the cute one."
"Hehehe, stop it you're the cute one," she giggled, rubbing her head against his.
"YOU'RE BOTH CUTE! NOW LET ME IMMORTALIZE IT WITH PICTURESSSS!"
*Click* *Click* *Click* *Click*
"How did she catch up," Jiro yelled.
"I don't know!"
"IT'S CALLED ACID SKATING CUTIES NOW SMILE!"
*Click* *Click* *Click* *Click*
"If you're going to keep doing that at least turn off the flash!"
"Oh, whoops, sorry," Mina apologized as she fiddled with her settings, too distracted to notice the tree she was about to-
WHACK!
Crash into...
"Owwwwwwwww," Mina whined, her targets stopping in their tracks out of worry for their friend.
"Ashido," Jiro yelled.
"Are you alright," Midoriya asked.
…
"…Fifty fifty," she said, her voice muffled by the tree, "Nothing too bad, just probably a concussion, eventual migraine, busted tooth, and a valuable lesson learned about why you should be looking where you're going when pursuing your friends in a quest for vengeance."
"Thank goodness," they sighed in relief.
...
"I'm still gonna keep chasing you by the way."
"O-Oh," Izuku mumbled, snapping out of the fear when Kyoka snapped her fingers in front of his face, "Hm?"
"Dude, run."
"Huh?"
"Run, now, before she has time to catch up."
"Oh right, uhhh see you later Ashido," Midoriya yelled as he dashed away, "Hope you feel better!"
"DON'T YOU DARE TURN YOUR BACK ON ME," Mina's rage and determination became so powerful she broke her face through the trunk of the tree, using her acid to melt her way out of it, "I'LL GET YOU EVEN IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DOOOOO!"
"…"
"…"
"…I'm starting to think Kacchan's a bad influence on her."
"Ohhhh yeah, definitely."
"How are we gonna shake her off our trail?"
"No clue just keep running."
"Got it!"
Meanwhile…
"So, if I may ask," Yaoyorozu said, her arms wrapped around Shoto's right one as they walked down the stone path leading to the dorms.
"Yes Yaoyorozu?"
"How does your quirk handle fevers?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean does only half of your face get warm, or is there a temperature fluctuation between sides?"
"I believe it was a temperature flux."
"Huh, fascinating."
"Yeah, whenever I had one it would always be the opposite temperature for that side, it wasn't all pleasant for my mom or sister when they tried to take care of me during flu seasons."
"I don't think it would be pleasant for anyone to be honest," she giggled.
"It made my brother Natsuo laugh though, he found it funny when they tried to figure out if I was sick or if the room temperature was off."
"That's awful."
"Not the worst thing that's happened in my family."
"I'll take your word for it…are you okay? I didn't trudge up any bad memories did I?"
"No no, it's fine, if anything, you just reminded me of good ones."
"Well I'm glad I could do that for you," she smiled at him, making the right side of his face go a little red as he reciprocated the smile.
"Me to."
"S-So u-um, when we get back, w-would you like to spend some more time together?"
"Yeah, I'd honestly really like that."
"O-okay, i-i-in that case, I have another question."
"Mhm?"
"I-I-I mean if it's alright with you anyway, f-for me to ask another question that is."
"Alright, ask away."
"N-N-No pressure or anything for you to answer immediately, you can wait, I can wait, it's not super urgent."
"I understand that, it's fine."
"It really all falls on whether or not you want to even talk about anything else, we can just walk together in silence and enjoy the nighttime atmosphere, I'm okay with whatever you want."
"Yaoyorozu."
"Y-Yes Todoroki?"
"You haven't even asked the question yet."
"I haven't?"
"No."
"M-My apologies," she squeaked.
"It's perfectly fine, speak your mind, you don't have to be nervous around me."
"U-Uh…*gulp* okay, um, w-would you mind if we…"
"Mhm?"
"I-If we went ahead, and," Momo slowed her pace, turning her head to meet Shoto's eyes with her own, "K-K-Kissed?"
"Ah…oh, uh."
"Like I said, only if you want to, I'm not forcing you or anything, I'm fine if you say no I can take it, no big deal, we can take it at our own pace and mph," Momo irreverent rambling was cut off, after Shoto's lips captured her own, causing the raven haired girl to blush brightly as her mind did it's best to comprehend that he was indeed kissing her. Eventually setting in, as she gently moved her hand to caress his face, returning the passion he put into it as the shock faded away, in it's place was excitement and joy, before they slowly broke apart.
"S-Sorry for cutting you off Yaoyorozu," Shoto apologized.
"Believe me," she laid her head on his shoulder, as they started walking again, "I'm glad that you did."
"Even though it was rude?"
"No, because it was nice."
"Oh, well if that's the case then-…" Todoroki paused as he stopped walking, Momo doing the same, looking at him curiously.
"Midoriya," Momo questioned, as Shoto pointed down the path, seeing the shy couple rapidly speed down it, looking over their shoulders.
"Do you think we lost her," Midoriya asked.
"Maybe, I don't know, I lost sight of her but she can always catch up again," Jiro replied.
"Then I'll have to speed up and shake her off the trial, just hold on tight and, T-Todoroki?"
"Jiro," Momo said in confusion.
"Momo," Jiro tilted her head.
"Midoriya?"
'My name's Shoto, and I have no idea what's going on,' Todoroki thought to himself.
"Yaoyorozu!?"
"Yes, you know each other's names, now pump the breaks before you run them over," Nana said, saving her boy once again.
"OH RIGHT, HMPH," Midoriya jumped a foot off the ground, planting his feet firmly against the stone path, his speed gradually decreasing with a loud-
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!
Stopping him dead in front of Shoto and Momo.
…
…
"U-um, hi guys," Midoriya awkwardly greeted.
"Sup," Jiro followed suit.
"Hello," the two greeted back in unison.
"I like your dress Jiro," Momo complemented, making Jiro blush.
"Thanks, took me a little while to put it all together, but given Izuku's reaction, I'd say it was worth it," Jiro winked at her boyfriend, making him feel a little bashful.
"Awww that's sweet, are you two going out tonight," Momo asked with stars in her eyes.
"Mhm," Jiro nodded, "At least trying to anyway, you guys?"
"We uh actually just got back from ours."
"Oh, where'd you go," Midoriya asked.
"We walked around the city for a bit before we stopped at this one tai food place," Shoto explained.
"Sounds nice," Jiro replied.
"It really was, but not the best thing that happened tonight," Momo said as she rubbed Shoto's arm, the two smiling at each other.
"So you finally told him eh," Jiro smirked.
"Y-you could say that."
"Either way, we're happy for you," Midoriya smiled.
"Thank you, we appreciate it," Shoto replied.
"You're welcome-"
"WHERE ARE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!"
Mina screamed as she gained on them, a few chips of wood in her hair from the tree she crashed into, her eyes almost bulging out of her head.
"Oh crap, yeah, almost forgot," Kyoka cringed as Mina came into view.
"Care to explain Kyoka," Momo asked.
"No time to, quick you gotta help us hide!"
"From Ashido," Shoto questioned, raising his eyebrow.
"Yes exactly!"
"I don't think that's all that necessary, I know she can be too much sometimes but I don't think she's beyond reason," Yaoyorozu comforted the two as much as she could.
"Momo."
"Yes Jiro?"
"She melted Midoriya's door off its hinges, jumped off a balcony, and busted through a tree."
"…"
"…"
"Yeah, THAT is what's chasing us."
Todoroki and Yaoyorozu turned to each other, locking eyes as they held a silent conversation, each second passing ticking down the clock further and further before the pink alien would capture her prey, Midoriya shaking like a branch in the wind, and Jiro's teeth clattering like a woodchipper.
After a couple more seconds, they faced the two once again, asking-
"How can we help?"

Auhtor's Notes: Special thanks to Ability King KK and Saturn Night's for their kind and appreciative reviews, i was a little scared how well the story would be received and it was comforting knowing that it's a positive reception so far, it helped me pump out this chapter in the same night, and hopefully keeps me going into the next chapter.
I don't know how long I want this to be, nor how many ships I actually want to include, I just know that I'm not going to dedicate one ship per chapter like this one, I just felt like dedicating this one to the TodoMomo one since i personally love it, and I really enjoy the idea of writing it alongside DekuJiro as some of you may know from the story I wrote called 'Gifts,' and hopefully I'll include a few more interactions between them before the end (whenever that may be).As always I hope you enjoyed, I may have chapter 3 out later today, I'm hoping to get it out before the end of February, but my job sometimes gets in the way of that, I hope that doesn't ruin the feel of this since ya know it's a valentines related story.
