Vicarious Valentines Ch. 3: Shoto and Momo part 2
1 Minute Later…
Mina had finally caught up to where Midoriya and Kyoka had stopped at to talk to their friends, deactivating the acid she dripped out of her shoes to gain traction, swerving to the right to halt her pace, stopping right in front of both Todoroki and Momo, the latter of which was inconspicuously whistling while the former just pretended to be interested in the sunflower's planted alongside the path.
"How's it shaking guys," Mina greeted, panting from exhaustion.
"Thing's are going good," she continued to whistle while avoiding eye contact.
"Indeed, quite good," Shoto replied.
"Yes, yes, quite good," Momo said.
"Sweet, awesome, anyway did you see Midoriya and Jiro come through this way?"
"Nope, haven't seen them," Momo shrugged.
"Me neither."
"Nobody here but us."
"Uh huh, just me and Yaoyorozu, and now you, and that bird that just landed on that tree branch."
"Exactly, no Midoriya or Jiro to be found."
"What's a Midoriya," Shoto asked, the raven haired girl nudging him to signal he went too far with the playing dumb angle. Ashido annoyingly squinted at this, not buying their front at all, but pretended to in order to pick back up on the trail.
"Really now, I could've sworn they ran this way."
"Well they didn't."
"Haven't seen Midoriya since we left for our date earlier," Shoto rubbed the back of his head nonchalantly.
"Awwwwwwwwwwwww hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you two went out? Why didn't you tell me," Mina asked before slowly pulling her phone from her pocket.
"Because we didn't want any pictures," Shoto coldly replied, the pink alien then lowering her device back down into her pocket.
"But you two look so adorable together," Ashido smiled, "It'd just be a few pics no big deal, couple clicks for a scrapbook I'm making for memories and social torment, I won't do anything unseemly with them (unless you try to run)."
"What was that," they asked.
"Nothing!" *Click*
"What was THAT," they asked again albeit more desperately in tone.
"Like I said nothing, anyway you sure you haven't seen the shy beans?"
"No," Momo responded as the couple switched their tactics, the class representative looking off to side whilst her boyfriend tried (and failed) to whistle; only managing to just blow air, "Haven't seen them at allllllllllll."
"You sure?"
"Completely."
"No doubts in your mind?"
"Not single one, right Todoroki," she asked as he continued to try and whistle, only dry air bellowing out, his expression growing frustrated bit by bit with each attempt.
"T-Todoroki?"
"Hang on a sec Yaoyorozu."
"It's alright if you can't whistle, it took me a few years to even eb able to."
"Yeah same," Mina laughed, charmed by his effort.
Eventually, one attempt lead to him blowing fire out his mouth, quickly shutting his lips in shock and surprise, leaving Ashido and Yaoyorozu at a loss for words; staring at him wide eyed.
…
"Well that's a new one," Todoroki coughed as smoke escaped his throat.
"I figured that much," Ashido groaned, licking the tips of her thumb and index finger to pinch the small flame lit on a strand of her hair, Todoroki scratching his cheek in embarrassed.
"Let's just stop whistling for now," Momo comforted him by patting his shoulder, "I'll teach you how to do it properly when we get back to the dorms, hopefully this time they'll be less fire."
"Thank you," Shoto smiled.
"Bet that's not the only thing you'll teach him to do with his lips," the fluffy alien joked, causing Momo's face reflect the same color as her hero costume.
"A-A-Ashido!"
"Hehehe," she laughed as she stuck her tongue out at the pony-tailed girl.
"I always did want to learn how to curl my R's," Todoroki pinched his chin, recalling all the times he tried to do it himself.
"Oh she can teach you to do that," Ashido continuously nudged Momo's side, the embarrassed girl gripping her warm cheeks with her hands, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand how to, ya know…curl your tongue!"
"S-S-S-Stop it."
"Oh yeah I never knew how to do that either, I'd always end up either gagging myself or biting my tongue," whoosh, right over his head like a jet fighter.
"Whys top there she can-"
"ASHIDO!"
"Yeeeeees Momo."
"They went that way," Yaoyorozu screamed and pointed off in the direction behind them.
"Thought you didn't see them?"
"I DID, I DID OKAY NOW GO!"
"Why thank you for the directions my good lass," Mina bowed like a gentleman, before walking away, "I'll just leave you two alone with your conveniently not mentioned or seen up until now object that the author couldn't find a way naturally place in our back and forth dialogue *long exasperated deep breath*…Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaat has a brown tarp over it big enough to shield two people as if to hide the contents of the tarp from prying eyes because said contents shouldn't be seen or don't want to be seen out of fear of how other's will react to it which possibly involves public humiliation, teasing's, and pictures that will inevitably be sent to their respective parents who will do my job even better than I could ever hope to and will no doubt make their lives absolutely mortifying…"
…
'That was an oddly specific description,' Momo thought, surprised that the fluffy alien was able to walk off blissfully unaware of the ploy they were pulling.
'I have no idea what just happened,' Shoto pondered as he watched his classmate walk away, humming to herself as she did so.
"Hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm gonna go catch them do de do hmmmmm hmmm hmmm! Dabby de da! *whistle* shew be do bah!"
…
…
DING!
"WAIT A MINUTE," Mina screamed as she dashed back to them, Yaoyorozu jumping into Shoto's arms in shock and fear, the boy gripping her tightly.
"Ohhhhhhhhhhh hohohohohohohohohoooooo you thought you had me," she screeched, grabbing the tarp with maniacal intent, "NICE TRY LOVE BIRDS!"
"Wait Ashido don't!"
"TOO LATE, HIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
In a sharp and quick motion the pink haired girl flung the brown piece of fabric into the air, her bellowing and evil laughter filled the dead air, reveling in her victory of catching her prey at last, the unavoidable torment finally at hand, retribution for Kyoka exposing her feelings, finally the moment of her sweetest spot in the lime light had arrived, and nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING would get in her way at all!
…
Only to find what was actually under the tarp-
A very tall, chiseled, strange, off putting, yet oddly magnificent in texture and in attention to detail, ice sculpture of one Hisashi Yamada (aka Present Mic), built with an exaggerated amount of muscles, pecs, and all around beefiness that the teacher lacked astoundingly (unless you asked him personally anyway), flexing in a pose that wasn't uncommon for All Might to do in his glory days of being the number one hero. The ice glistened in the setting sunlight, as if the heavens wanted to place prominence on the disgustin-GRANDIOUS piece of museum level garbag-ARTWORK, saying that this, THIS was a work of the messiah, a gift to the mortal realm by proxy of the gods themselves, infinitely admirable to the naked eye that had the fortune of gazing upon it's stunning-
"Sweet Jesus that's horrifying," Mina coughed as she held back her vomit.
"Well art is subjective," Yaoyorozu said, doing her best to keep up the act.
"That's not art."
"Yeah, that's because it's an ice sculpture," Todoroki informed, missing the conversation beats entirely.
"Why do you even have this," Mina asked.
"Mr. Present Mic asked me to make one for him using my ice, so he could put it in his apartment," Shoto explained.
"I can now see why nobody comes over to his place anymore."
"Because he'd to keep so cold."
"Not at all what I was thinking, but sure go with that if you want."
"I will."
"Noted, anyway, sorry to uhhhhhh bother you and rip the tarp off," she apologized as she quickly covered the statue back up, wiping her hands on her shorts.
"It's alright Ashido," Momo smiled, "It was an honest mistake, no harm no fowl."
"If you say so," she mumbled, barely able to keep her disturbed eyes off of the ice, "Imma just…go that way and hopefully bleach that from my mind and my eyes, and not wake up screaming in the middle of the night in a cold acidic sweat. Chao!"
"I wish you luck in your efforts," the raven haired girl replied, waving off her classmate as she ran away; internally questioning what in the world just transpired.
…
…
"Okay, I think she's gone now," Yaomomo whispered aloud, queuing the shy couple to pop out of the bushes beside them.
"Man that was a close one," Midoriya sighed in relief, pulling various leaves and branches out of his hair, Kyoka doing the same.
"You're telling me, I though she figured us out for sure," Jiro replied, as she dusted off her boyfriend's back.
"No kidding."
"Thankfully it seems we've thrown her off your scent," Momo said, "Good thing we made this decoy."
"That was honestly brilliant Yaomomo," Jiro laughed, the expression Mina gave at the sight would be one that she would remember for ages.
"Thank you, although…I wouldn't say I would've picked such an odd muse for the project," she replied, looking at her boyfriend.
"I needed to make something that would both throw her off and disgust her, so that was the first thing that popped into my head," Shoto explained, making her chuckle.
"I don't know if that's brilliant or scary."
"Differing opinions on sculping aside," Midoriya interjected, "We're really grateful that you helped us out, thank you both."
"Yeah, a huge help, we owe you one," Jiro followed up.
"It was no problem really, anything to help out friends on their special day," Yaomomo waved off the gratitude bashfully, "Just go and enjoy your evening, that's all that we could ask for right Todoroki?"
"…"
"Todoroki?"
"Y-you uh, okay there man," Jiro asked as she noticed him staring at the decoy.
"…"
"I-Is he okay," Deku asked, looking at his best friend worryingly.
"I'm sure he'll be fine," Momo reassured them as she waved her hand in front of his face, "You two can go on ahead, we wouldn't want you being stuck here before curfew starts."
"Oh crap I almost forgot, y-yeah we better get going Izuku," Kyoka started running off, tugging at her dates arm, pulling him away from the scene, "See you guy's when we get back, and thanks again!"
"R-right thanks again Yaoyorozu! You to Todoroki, bye!"
"Bye, have fun you two" the class rep waved as they disappeared from her line of sight, letting out a breath as she lowered her arm back down, before wrapping it around Shoto's again, "I'm so happy for them."
"Mhm."
"They really do deserve each other."
"Yep."
"Only seems like yesterday when Midoriya came up to our table, gave Jiro a flower, and asked her out, I swear Kyoka nearly fell out of her seat when he did it," she giggled.
"Uh huh."
"Kind of reminds me when you-"
"It's not that ugly is it?"
"H-huh?"
"Sorry to cut you off, I just…I don't know why but I oddly care about how well I made the sculpture."
"Why is that?"
"Because it let's me know that I'm getting better at shaping my quirk to be able to create complex structures. It's something that uh, my mom told me she used to do when she was younger, and she was hoping to see me be able to do it someday."
"O-Oh."
"Yeah…sorry, I shouldn't be so worried about it."
"Well if that's the case, I'd say it looks great."
"You do?"
"I mean, sure it is a bit eccentric and overly exaggerated, but looking at it you certainly can't deny that effort was put into it, the craftsmanship of a true artist I'd say," she complimented as she leaned her head on his shoulder, "Besides, it helped out our friends in very significant way, so it's fine for you to be proud of what you accomplished, and I'm sure your mother would be to."
"You think so?"
"With all my heart," she reassured him, before kissing his cheek, making him narrow his eyes as he returned the favor by placing one at the top of her forehead, "Shall we move on from this little adventure?"
"By all means," he replied as they started on their way back to the dorms.
"Are you fine with leaving it there?"
"Mhm, I'm sure Present Mic will get a kick out of it, also nobody got him a present for teacher's appreciation day anyway."
"How do you know that?"
"He cried about it throughout second period."
"Aw that's sad."
"For him, and our ear drums."
"You have my sincerest sympathies," she chuckled.
"That makes me feel better," he smiled.
"Glad *yawn* to hear it," she said, closing her eyes, his soft shoulder's becoming her momentary pillow for their walk, proving Shoto with his own as he leaned his head on top of hers, wondering to himself-
'When did I get so lucky?'
Shoto and Momo: End
To Be Continued (!?)
Author's Notes: And that's another I was able to pump today, I'm honestly surprised I was able to get it done so soon and it come out the exact way I wanted it to, hopefully you all enjoyed this nice little section of the story and the conclusion to the TodoMomo section of this tale (don't worry I'll wrap back around to them and the other ships I plan to do when we reach the final chapter in a neat little epilogue style, at least if you guys are interested in it).
I really enjoyed writing the comedy bits into this, I haven't done a whole lot of comedic style writing recently (much to the dismay of the followers of my story Quirky Pranks, seriously im so sorry that I haven't been able to come up with anything good for that story in a long time, my deep and honest apologies), and I plan on not stopping it there since Mina's rampage and the shy couple's shenanigans are sure to lead to even more interesting situations and escape tactics, hopefully some that don't involve traumatizing unsuspecting onlookers with an exaggerated display of a teacher's (lack thereof) biceps.
Unfortunately though, it'll probably take me a little while to pump out ch. 4 since I have a lot going on this week, and currently my internet has gone out due to a storm that's hit the area and i'm literally only able to publish this because of my mobile data, I pray it comes back on soon but ya know how it is sometimes.
Hope you all enjoyed as always, feel free to leave a review I will most likely read it, and thank you to everyone who has expressed their thoughts so far, you guys are the best. Be safe, be happy, be good, and have a wonderful day.
Keep up the good work!
-T.L.C
P.S. The ice sculpture is coming back.
