Vicarious Valentines

Chapter 4: The Bus

"So what actually got me a little bit into music was my mom actually," Izuku stated as he started reading through a menu he got online for the restaurant he and Kyoka were currently riding toward, "She would sometimes play something over a speaker while she cooked dinner or just did any chores in general."

"Mhm," Kyoka nodded as she stared out the back window of the bus with a nervous expression.

"She really enjoyed a lot of pre-quirk era music since my grandma and grandpa usually played it a lot while working on their own solo projects, cleaning, playing board games, or as they would say 'moving furniture.'

"Hmmm really now?"

"Yeah, although my grandpa had a back problem and he wasn't really as strong in his late years, or any of his years for that matter."

"Uh huh," she blinked a few times as the setting sun shined through the bus windows; tapping her finger on the back seat where she rested her arm.

"Plus, their furniture never actually moved whenever we came to visit, it was usually in the exact same place that they left it."

"Riiiiight riiiiight."

"Mom would always blush and have this really disgusted look on her face every time they brought it up, but pop pop and mamaw would just laugh it off and change the subject."

"As you do."

"I'd usually ask about it on the drive home and mom said she'd explain when I was older," Izuku said as he flipped the page to look at desserts, "Ooooooo cream pie that sounds nice," he smiled at the thought of having the delectable sweet, before his joy slowly turned more and more to shock and horrifying realization, "Oh, ohhhhhh god I think they meant they were having se-"

"Love you to babe."

Midoriya slowly closes the menu as he looks over to his lovely, concerned as to why she looked so grief stricken and anxious, "Whats wrong Kyoka?"

"Mhm absolutely."

"Um Kyo?"

"Yeah of course."

"Are you okay."

"Completely justifiable, I'd probably mix it up a bit, throw in some beats."

"..."

"I think its pretty needed because the tones a little flat, but it's a start out so don't get too nervous."

"Dear I don't think you listened to what I said."

"Uh huh, totally on the same page as you."

"Sweetie," he held out his hand in front of her face and snapped a couple times.

"What, huh," Kyoka panicked as she came back to reality, her attention quickly shifting to her boyfriend, "What, what happened?"

"I went on for a little bit about my limited musical background, eventually realizing a polarizing fact while you stared out the window."

"Oh right right, grandparents and furniture I caught some of that."

"Hopefully not the gross part," Izuku whispered to himself.

"What gross part?"

"Nothing, nothing at all trust me!"

"Oh...kay, anyway sorry babe I'm just a little tense," Jiro looked to the back again, Midoriyas own gaze following suit.

"About Ashido?"

"Yeah, about Mina," she glanced back at him, "You think Yaomomo and Todoroki threw her off?"

"I don't know, probably."

"Sorry Izu but a 'probably' doesn't make me less paranoid."

"In that case," Izuku places the menu down next to him, and smiles at her, "What would?"

"Eh maybe knowing she was chained up somewhere, faaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from any social media platforms, phones, laptops, cameras, pen and paper."

"Pen and paper?"

"She could sketch us together."

"I don't exactly think Ashido would go that far," he softly chuckled.

"Izu she jumped off a balcony and slammed into a tree and still kept coming for us."

"Valid point."

"So yeah, can you blame me?"

"No, not really."

"Exactly, I mean I havent even told my parents we're dating yet, so if my dad finds out then either one of two things will happen."

"T-...Those are?"

"One, he will invite you over to dinner, ask you a million embarrassing and awkward questions until you either leave me and never show your face in Japan again."

"...N-noted," he shakes in his seat, "Whats n-n-n-number 2? I mean it cant be as bad as that right?"

"Murder."

"Ah okay so it's just as bad."

"Mhm, so...yeah sorry, I'm just scared is all, especially since I'm a little to blame," Jiro looks down, her anxiousness shifting to a quiet and underlined sadness, "I'm sorry Izu."

"Kyoka," Izuku stills himself as he reaches his hand back out, this time taking her hand into his own, capturing her attention immediately as she looks back up at him, "I'm not gonna lie, yeah I'm nervous and a little worried to, I know your dad can be pretty intense from what you've told me, and yeah he may freak out a little bit once he finds out because well you're his daughter and he wants you to be okay."

"I know that, it's just he can go a little overboard."

"Be that as it may, it still comes from a good place," he then scoots a little closer to her, looking her directly in the eye, as he continues to try and reassure her, "He loves you, and even though I've never really met him, I know we have that much in common."

"I-Izuku," she stutters as she blushes at him, his words striking at her very core; as her negative emotions start to wash away.

"So even if he does either of those two things, or heck even both them, it's not gonna change how I feel or how you make me feel, I understand why you're scared, but you don't have to be. I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere, at least if you don't want me to anyway," he soon blushes as well, nervously breaking eye contact with her as he turns his head, a little embarrassed of how passionate he got, "I-I-It's really u-up to you, n-no pressure."

"Hehehe," she laughs to herself, breaking through a few welled up tears of joy, "N-No pressure huh," she asked as she wiped her tears.

"M-M-Mhm, no pressure at all."

"Alright, just needed to be sure," she smiled, placing a finger on the side of his face, turning him back to her, "And now that I am I have to say."

"Y-Yes?"

"No babe, I don't want you going anywhere," she narrowed her eyes at him, enticing him with a loving gaze as her purple eyes met his green ones.

"...G-G-G-Good," he sheepishly smiled back, "I-I uh, didn't plan to."

"Haha yeah I know."

"G-Great, now we're on the same page."

"Are we?"

"A-A-Are we?"

"Are you," Banjo asked from the vestige world of One for All.

"Get back here before you ruin this," Nana shouted as she appeared behind him, dragging him back in.

"Hey! Kid may need some pointers from yours tru-WHOA," he shouted as he was pulled away.

"Sorry about him," En (the sixth user) chimed in as he appeared beside Izuku, unaware he was making it just as awkward, "Banjo gets a little bored in here and we're running out of meta-physical board games to keep him preoccupied and-awwwwwww you two look so cute together!"

"MASTER! NOW!"

"Right, sorry good luck pretend we arent here, act natural, avoid religion and politics, check your breath, and whatever you do don't-GAH-!"

'En? Mr. En!? Don't do what!? DONT DO WHAT!?'

"Now look who's distracted," Jiro teased, Izuku immediately snaps back out of it.

"S-S-Sorry, I was just wrapped up in my own a head a second there."

"Well then...how about I capture your full attention, since you arent going anywhere," she then slowly slides her hands to both sides of his face.

"I'd like that," Izuku replies as he matches her movement and slowly leans in, the setting sunlight shining between them soon disappearing as their shadows became one; the two enwrapping themselves in a romantic embrace as their lips met in a soft, sweet kiss.

Unbeknownst to them though, during their moment of happiness, Mina slowly slid down the back window of the bus, phone in hand with an evil and insane grin plastered across her (self-proclaimed) adorable alien-like face, "Heheheheheheheheee ahhhhhhhhh got them now, wait till everyone gets a load of thi-"

*BUMP!*

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

However what she didn't not account for was the currently in motion vehicle, annnnnnnnnnnnd the many pot holes made from hero activity.

*SPLASH!*

Nor the fact that there was an open manhole next to it.

"OH WHAT ARE THE F**KIN CHANCES YOU HACK!"

Author: My story my rules.

"Oh garbage! I call author bias!"

Author: Maaaaaybe, at least I don't ride on top of buses.

"Well at least I don't take a full year to update a valentines story!"

Author:…

A swarm of sewer gators attracted by Ashido's yelling immediately swarmed her and formed a circle around her.

"...I'm sorry...can you give me an out?"

A spoon then falls from the sky and hits her on the head, as the alligator's growls got louder and louder.

"...I hate you-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Meanwhile back at the bus...

"Current stop Heros et Heroines restaurant," the bus driver called out, the shy coupler eagerly looking toward the front.

"Oh this is our stop," Izuku excitedly stands up, holding out his arm to his lovely, "You ready, M'lady?"

"Of course," Jiro smiles as she gets up from their seat, wrapping her arm around his, "You adorable dork," the two then walk toward the front of the bus, stepping off, and now facing the fancy and romantic establishment that would house them for their special occasion.

And the home of future calamity, once they met face to face with a few familiar figures.

To Be Continued...

(I swear)
