Episode 256: An Unlikely Friendship
As Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel continued on with their journey, they knew they were almost near Fallarbor Town, but something happens to make them stop. Pikachu and Angel's ears perked up.
"I heard it, too, buddy," Sora said.
"What was that?" Kairi asked.
"Eevee?" Angel asked.
"And where is it?" Lisia asked.
They got their answer when a Seviper and a Zangoose were fighting each other. The Seviper makes an attempt to strike at the Zangoose, but it dodges the fangs of the snake-like Pokémon and it swipes its claws at the Seviper and it gets hit hard.
"A Seviper and a Zangoose," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"This must be their territory," Brendan said.
Sora and Kairi took out their Rotom Phones and scanned them both.
Sora's Rotom Phone:
Seviper, the Fang Snake Pokémon
Type: Poison
Seviper has a long-running feud with Zangoose. It uses its sword-like tail to slice its opponents like a knife in butter.

Zangoose has has a fierce rivalry with Seviper. Whenever Zangoose is in a battle, it stands on its hind legs and attacks with the claws on its forelegs and slashes its opponent.
"Man, they're really going at it," Sora said.
"Of course they are," a new voice called out from behind. They turned to see a boy wearing a pair of bottle-glasses walking up behind them. "Zangoose and Seviper have been at each other's throats since the dawn of nature. It's not unusual to see them go at it. The story of how and when Zangoose and Seviper became hated enemies is a story without a beginning and without an end." The Seviper swings its bladed tail right at the Cat Ferret Pokémon, but grabs it by the tail and swings it around. More Seviper and Zangoose comes out and they start a fighting frenzy.
"I think we should get out of here while the getting's good," Sora suggested.
"Right this way!" the boy said, leading them away from the brawl.
Not too far away, a Pokémon Hunter is in the area and he notices footprints on the soil. He stepped out of the van and he analyzed them.
"Zangoose. And if there are Zangoose, then there are Seviper here, too. Zangoose and Seviper are worth loads of money when I catch them," the Pokémon Hunter said. He took out an Ultra Ball and threw it. "Go! Mightyena!" His Ultra Ball his Mightyena emerged from inside. "Take a whiff, Mightyena, and follow it." Mightyena sniffed the soil and then started to follow the Zangoose trail. He stepped back in his van and followed the Bite Pokémon.
Meanwhile, A Zangoose and a Seviper are seen laying about by a lake. Both are eating some fruit to their delight. They were down to the last apple and they couldn't decide on what to do. Seviper used its bladed tail to cut the apple in half. The Zangoose smiled and ate the half as the Seviper ate the other half.
"Life is sweet, isn't it?" - Zangoose subtitle.
"It is. As long as there is no fighting, nothing can spoil it for us. If only the others could understand." - Seviper subtitle.
"All because we chose to be friends instead of fighting each other all because we're supposed to. I mean, just fight each other for no reason? What's the point?" - Zangoose subtitle.
"Yeah, you have a point. Why fight when we don't know what the reason is, other than hating each other? But, the leaders says it's because it is said we do it because of our ancestors. To be honest, I would rather eat garbage than fight you, Zangoose." - Seviper subtitle. Zangoose laughed.
"So would I, Seviper. You're my best friend and that is never going to change. I didn't care what the consequences were for befriending you, and I didn't question it." - Zangoose subtitle.
"Me neither. It doesn't matter that you're a Zangoose and I'm a Seviper, because we're all Pokémon after all. If only some humans were the same as us." - Seviper subtitle.
"I couldn't agree with you more than I already do, buddy." - Zangoose subtitle.
Back over to Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, Angel, and the boy, they were out of reach of the battling Seviper and Zangoose.
"Thanks for getting us out of there when you did," Sora said.
"Pika, Pika," Pikachu said.
"You're just lucky that I was around when it started. And you're double lucky that I was able to get you out of there before it got even worse," the boy said. "Anyway, the name's Percy. What are your names?"
"My name's Sora, and this is my partner, Pikachu," Sora introduced.
"I'm Kairi, and this Eevee is Angel," Kairi introduced.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"I'm Brendan."
"I'm Lisia."
"Just how did you know about those Seviper and Zangoose, anyway?" Sora asked.
"I just did. I just didn't expect to bump into you two when I did. And good thing too," Percy said. "Anyway, I just know about every kind of Pokémon that live around here. Just like all those Cascoon there." He pointed to in his left. Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel turned and saw three Cascoon hunched together. "Those Cascoon are getting very close to evolving. Just about 3, 2, 1." And as luck would have it, all three of the Cascoon evolved into Dustox and flew off.
"Wow," Sora, Kairi, Brendan, and Lisia said, impressed.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"You really know your stuff, Percy," Sora said.
"It helps if you lived in the area for as long as I have. That reminds me, I was wondering if you would like to join me and my mom for dinner?" Percy asked.
"You sure they'll be enough food?" Kairi asked.
"My mom has an act of making too much to eat, so she ends up saving it up until the next day, so it's not a problem," Percy assured the couple. He led his guests to his cabin and they walked in, finding his mother in the kitchen. She wore a blue dress under a white apron. She placed a whole chicken in the oven. "Mama, I'm home!"
"Welcome home, Percy. Did you have a nice walk?" Percy's mother asked. She noticed the four extra kids with him. "Oh, we have guests?"
"Yes, I invited them over for dinner. I hope it's okay," Percy said.
"Of course it's okay, honey. It makes me happy to see that you make friends so easily," Percy's mother said. She looked over to Kairi and she gushes. "Oh, you never told me that you have such a beautiful girlfriend!" Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, and Percy all blushed.
"No, mama, it's not like that!" Percy exclaimed.
"I'm already in a relationship," Kairi said.
"It's true, ma'am," Sora said. "It's with me."
"Besides, I just met them today," Percy said.
"I'm not with a relationship with him either," Lisia said.
"Oh, sorry for jumping in a conclusion; it's just, I wish Percy could meet the right girl and hope to get married someday and some beautiful babies," Percy's mother said. Percy blushed.
"Mama," Percy said, embarrassed. "I'm still a child."
"I know, honey. Now, let's not lurk in the doorway, because it's considered to be rude. And dinner will be ready any minute now," Percy's mother said. Percy, his mother, and their guests sat down at the table and ate the meal as Sora, Kairi, Brendan, and Lisia told them about how they were almost caught in the middle of a brawl between groups of Seviper and Zangoose. "So, you were on your way to Fallarbor Town for a Pokémon Contest."
"Yeah, and Percy was in the area when it started," Kairi said.
"I don't even wanna think how bad it'll be if we got caught in the middle of it," Sora said.
"And, Sora, isn't it, you also mentioned you're taking part of the Hoenn Pokémon League and in the Battle Frontier?" Percy's mother asked.
"Yes, ma'am. I'm gonna challenge the Battle Arena Tycoon Greta to a battle, so I thought of using either my Psychic, Flying, or Fairy-types since she's using Fighting-type Pokémon," Sora said.
"Makes sense to me since they're weak against those specific types," Percy said.
"Well, I wish you luck in your endeavors," Percy's mother said. "Now enough of this talk of battles and Contests, because our food is getting cold."
"Right," Percy and the rest of the group said as they started to eat.
Over to the Pokémon Hunter, he continued to follow Mightyena and stopped when the trail went cold.

That night, over to the unlikely duo, the Seviper and Zangoose slept happily as they had themselves some happy dreams. Over to Percy's house, the couple slept soundly as Pikachu and Angel was sleeping on their respectful partners' side. Brendan and Lisia slept soundly. Percy and his mother were terrified because of Sora's snoring, thinking it was a wild Pokémon in the area.
On the next morning, after a hearty breakfast, Percy led Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel through a shortcut to Fallarbor Town.
"Thanks for leading us to Fallarbor Town, Percy," Sora said.
"Not a problem, Sora. Just wanna do something to make up for my mom jumping the gun about your girlfriend. She's always been on me about finding a girlfriend just so I can being her home to meet my mama," Percy said.
"I can't imagine why," Kairi said.
"Anyway, if we stay on this path, you'll be right there in no time," Percy said. Just when they got further down, they spotted the Zangoose and Seviper along the way. "Uh-oh."
"Another Zangoose and Seviper?" Sora groaned. He hung his head. "Looks like another brawl on our hands."
"No, wait, Sora. Look," Kairi said, pointing to them. "They're not fighting at all." Sora looked at the two of them and saw she was right, they weren't fighting each other. Even Percy was at a loss for words.
"You're right, Kairi. Those two are just hanging around," Sora said.
"Wow. That's something you don't see everyday," Brendan said.
"Can you believe it, Percy?" Lisia asked.
"I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it for myself," Percy said. "People always said that the day I get a girlfriend would be the day a Zangoose and a Seviper would be friends." Zangoose and Seviper started to eat some of the berries growing in a nearby bush. When it was down to one, Zangoose suggested that Seviper has the last one, but Seviper insisted that Zangoose has it instead. Then Zangoose used his claw to split it in half and both got a share of it. Sora, Kairi, Brendan, and Lisia were amazed how they didn't end up fighting over it; even Pikachu and Angel were at awe. The two Pokémon took notice of them looking at them.
"How long were there standing there?" - Seviper subtitle.
"Search me." - Zangoose subtitle.
"Hi there," Sora greeted.
"They seem friendly enough." - Zangoose subtitle.
"They are. We were just passing by and we don't want any trouble." - Pikachu subtitle.
"We promise we won't be a bother to you." - Angel subtitle.
"Don't worry, little Pikachu and Eevee, you won't have any trouble." - Seviper subtitle.
"We don't see any point in fighting since we don't know when and why." - Zangoose subtitle.
Over to the Pokémon Hunter, he saw the Seviper and Zangoose coming towards one another and they start fighting each other.
"Okay, this is the moment I have been waiting for," the Pokémon Hunter said, taking out his Pokéballs and threw them. "Mightyena, Houndoom, Ariados!" The three Pokémon came out and awaits for his instructions. "Ariados! Use Spider Web!" Ariados fired Spider Web right at the feuding Pokémon, wrapping them up in the silk. "Good work. Mightyena, Houndoom, make sure they stay put while I get the cages ready." Mightyena and Houndoom heads right for the captive Pokémon to keep them in line.
Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel decided to get to know the two Pokémon friends for a bit. Sora and Kairi had their Pokémon out just so they could get acquainted with them. Percy was astounded by the Pokémon the couple had and also the fact that they had more than six at a time.
"What awesome Pokémon you both have," Percy said. He adjusted his glasses and he examined them all. Skitty began to get excited and wanted to play with Zangoose's tail. The Cat Ferret Pokémon moves its tail up and down, making Skitty go wild. Kairi thought it was cute that Zangoose was playing with Skitty like that.
"You like your new friend, Skitty?" Kairi asked.
"Nya, nya, nya," Skitty said.
Zangoose kept playing with Zangoose's tail until Skitty looked at her own tail and began to chase it around until she got tired. She picked up her Skitty.
"Take it easy or you'll tire yourself out again," Kairi said. She turned to Percy. "Aren't they supposed to be fighting each other like the others were doing yesterday?" Kairi asked.
"Normally, yes, but it would seem these two have a very different idea and wanted nothing to with it any longer," Percy said.
Sora could understand since he looked at them saw how good friends they are. He figured he could use Pokémon like them.
"Hey, Seviper, Zangoose, how would you guys like to come with me?" Sora offered. Seviper and Zangoose looked at him. "Just think how far you'll go if you're with me. What do you say?" Zangoose and Seviper looked at each other and nodded. They decided to take in on Sora's offer. They both accepted. "Great! I'm going with Pikachu and Seedot!" Sora calls back his other Pokémon except his Seedot. Seviper and Zangoose made the first the first move against Pikachu. "Dodge it, Pikachu! Quick Attack!" Pikachu avoids Zangoose's claws with his speed attack. Seviper comes at Seedot with a Poison Fang. "Seedot! Tackle!" Seedot lands a Tackle onto the fang snake Pokémon. Seviper repays Seedot with a Posin Tail attack. Seedot got struck hard. That was a super-effective hit for Seedot. Zangoose swipes at Pikachu with its claws again. "Pikachu! Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings at Zangoose with Iron Tail. Seviper uses Poison Tail to counter Pikachu's attak, but Pikachu does the same thing. Seviper fires Sludge Bomb right at Pikachu, but Seedot takes the hit. "Seedot!" Seedot got hit hard by Seviper's Sludge Bomb. Seedot unleashed Seed Bomb and lands a hit onto Zangoose and Seviper. "Wow, Seedot just learned to use Seed Bomb!" Sora knew he had to wrap it up. "Okay Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Pikachu fires Thunderbolt and it shocks both of Seviper and Zangoose. They were both weakened, so Sora seized his chance. He took out two Pokéballs and threw them right at Zangoose and Seviper, making them flow inside. They wobble around for a fewe moments until stars swirls around them to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box starts going off asking him if he wants to keep his two Pokémon with him. She chose to keep the both of them with him by exchanging Shuppet and Duskull. "I got myself a Seviper and Zangoose!"
"Pi, Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
"Seedot, Seed!" Seedot said.
"Way to go, Sora!" Kairi praised her boyfriend.
"Thanks Kairi," Sora said.
Just when Sora and Kairi were about to hug, their moment was interrupted by a loud cry coming from the distance.
"What was that?" Percy asked.
"Whatever it is, it doesn't sound like a good thing," Sora said. They rushed to see what was what. By the time they got there, they saw all of the Seviper and Zangoose were all in cages.
"All those Zangoose and Seviper have been captured!" Kairi gasped.
"A Pokémon Hunter probably did this!" Percy guessed.
"I think you're right. Look," Lisia said. They saw the Pokémon Hunter and his Pokémon, looking over the captured Zangoose and Seviper, chuckling.
"You guys are going to make me a huge amount of money. What my buyer plans to do with you is beyond me at that point," the Pokémon Hunter said.
"That jerk! Just who does he think he is poaching those Pokémon?" Sora asked, angered.
"Well, he won't get away with this, that's for sure!" Brendan said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it up in the air. "Grovyle! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Grovyle came out. "Use Leaf Blade on those cages!" Grovyle leapt out of the bushes and slashed the cages, allowing the Zangoose and Seviper to escape.
"What the?!" The Pokémon Hunter exclaimed. He glared right at Grovyle. "You're gonna pay for that, you green pest!"
"Put that on my tab!" Brendan said. He, Sora, Kairi, Lisia, Percy, Pikachu, and Angel stepped in, ready to take him on.
"Your Pokémon poaching days are over," Sora said.
"Why you kids! How dare you make my merchandise escape!" The Pokémon Hunter as the Mightyena and Houndoom growled.
"Pokémon are not merchandise!" Sora argued.
"Pika!" Pikachu agreed.
"Pokémon are living creatures, not something that makes people rich!" Percy said.
"I'm going to shut you brats up here and now! Mightyena, Houndoom! Use Dark Pulse!" The Pokémon Hunter ordered. Mightyena and Houndoom fired Dark Pulse right at the group.
"Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.
"Angel! Use Swift!" Kairi ordered.
Pikachu and Angel fired their chosen attacks and successfully blocked the combo Dark Pulse.
"Ariados! Use Bug Bite!" The Pokémon Hunter ordered. The Ariados rushes at them to give them a bite. Brendan took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Phanpy! Go!" Brendan called out. His Phanpy emerged from inside. "Use Rollout!" Phanpy curls up into a ball and rolls right at the spider-like Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage. "Okay, Grovyle! Use Dragon Claw!" Grovyle rushed at Ariados and slashed at Ariados with a purple energy coming from his claws. Ariados was knocked out from the assault of the two Pokémon.
"Nice one!" Sora said.
"Ariados!" The Pokémon Hunter growled in anger. "Okay, Mightyena, Houndoom, you're turn!" The two canine Pokémon growled angrily. Sora took out the Pokéballs, containing his newest Pokémon.
"Time to shine, you guys! Go! Seviper! Zangoose!" Sora called out. Zangoose and Seviper came out, ready to battle.
"So you got a Seviper and a Zangoose of your own. I'll just have to beat those two and then capture them once that's done!" The Pokémon Hunter said.
"No, you won't!" Sora argued.
"Yeah? And how are you going to stop me, kid?" The Pokémon Hunter asked.
"The same way I deal with cowardly Hunters like you," Sora said. The Pokémon Hunter took offense to what Sora called him.
"Coward? I'm going to make you regret ever calling me that! Mightyena, Houndoom! Go get them! Get them both!" The Pokémon Hunter ordered. Mightyena and Houndoom charged right in to attack.
"Seviper! Use Poison Tail! Zangoose! Use Slash!" Sora ordered. Seviper and Zangoose slashed at the canine Pokémon with their chosen attacks.
"Use Fire Fang!" The Pokémon Hunter ordered. Mightyena and Houndoom came at Seviper and Zangoose with a Fire Fang.
"Dodge!" Sora called out. Seviper and Zangoose dodged their attacks. "Use Poison Fang!" Seviper lands a poisonous bite onto Houndoom. "Use Night Slash!" Seviper swings his bladed tail at Mightyena, dealing some damage on it.
"Use Shadow Ball!" The Pokémon Hunter ordered. Mightyena and Houndoom fired a Shadow Ball and sends them right at Seviper and Zangoose.
"Zangoose! Get in front of Seviper!" Sora called out. Zangoose gets in front of Seviper and takes the hit. The two Shadow Balls do nothing to the Cat Ferret Pokémon due to his immunity to Ghost-type moves. "Okay, Seviper! Use Sludge Bomb! Zangoose! Use Shadow Claw!" Seviper fired a Sludge Bomb and it hits Houndoom as Zangoose swings his claws right at Mightyena. Seviper, Zangoose! Go! Use Poison Tail and Slash!" Seviper swung his tail while Zangoose swung his claws, finishing off their opponents. The Pokémon Hunter was really angry now.
"You beat my Pokémon! Doesn't matter, because I'm still gonna get them!" The Pokémon Hunter said, taking out a net and threw it at them.
"No!" Sora gasped.
Just then, Espeon appeared and uses Psychic on the net and sends it right back at him. He ends up getting caught in his own net.
"Oh, you brats are gonna pay for this! You're gonna pay right through your noses!" The Pokémon Hunter yelled.
"You helped us again," Sora said. Espeon looked right at Sora before taking off. "Hey, wait!"
"You actually know that Espeon?" Percy asked.
"Well, yes and no. He just shows up out of the blue and then disappears same as he appears. I have no idea whose Espeon that is, but he's usually with an Umbreon," Sora said.
"I don't think the answer is gonna come to us right now, but it will at some point," Brendan said.
"Brendan's right. We'll have our answers, someday," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Sora turned to his Seviper and Zangoose.
"You guys were awesome together. You worked together to take down that guy's Mightyena and Houndoom and won it. Not bad for your first battle," Sora said. Zangoose and Seviper nuzzled Sora affectionately, making him laugh.
It wasn't long until Officer Jenny arrived and arrested the Pokémon Hunter for Pokémon poaching, so he was now facing a series of charges.
After a while, they made their way to a road.
"This road should get you down to Fallarbor Town by sunset; just as long as you stay on it," Percy said.
"Thanks, Percy. You have been a big help," Kairi said.
"Anytime. And good luck in your contest, Kairi, and good luck in your battle against Greta, Sora," Percy said.
"Thanks, Percy. And we wish you luck in your future," Sora said.
"Thank you, Sora. Just take care of Zangoose and Seviper. I know they'll make it with a Trainer like you," Percy said.
"I'll train them well," Sora said.
"Thanks again, Percy," Lisia said.
"And take care," Brendan said.
"I will. Bye-bye!" Percy said, waving goodbye to his new friends. They waved back to him.
Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel went down the path to Fallarbor Town, where the chance for Kairi to earn her second Contest Ribbon awaits. The same can be said for Sora when he attempts to earn his second Frontier Symbol.
Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel have finally made it to Fallarbor Town. The sun was setting upon their arrival.
"So, this is Fallarbor Town. And just before it started to get dark," Sora said.
"Let's head for the Pokémon Center and get some rest. My feet kinda hurt from all the traveling we've been doing," Kairi said.
"Good idea. Pikachu and the others could use some rest," Sora seconded his girlfriend's motion.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
They started to head for the Pokémon Center to rest up and for Kairi to train for the upcoming Pokémon Contest, and Sora's battle against Greta.
